Eight O'Clock on the Dot!
El and Lux are making magic in this thread. Straight up fireworks, and the way they've played with drawing out the reveal is top class.
There's not much time to clean up. It's all of a day before the skies cloud over with even more of the attacking aliens, in larger bulk this time. Exhausted and worn as they are, the heroes of the city band together to fight yet again...
The SHIELD Agents on are armed with bullets that contain nanites that should be able to shut down both the biological and electronic systems of the Chitauri at once, they are more prepared for that threat than before, but the Chitauri have brought with them beasts that Earth has not seen before. These have been shared, at this point, with anyone else on the ground with weapons that can utilize them.
A thunderstorm has come in with the arrival of the Atlanteans, filling the air with rain and lightning. The unearthed Reaver ship is in orbit at this point, brought by the Svartalfar on Earth, and battling the enemy ships in orbit.
You are allowed to control as many enemies, allies, and civilians in your posts as you need to.
Event thread should take priority over other threads.
You will have three days to post once its your turn. If you are late, you automatically forfeit your turn that round. If you miss twice, your character may receive a more serious injury that will disqualify them from further phases. Please note:The Admin are keeping a close watch on this Phase, as it is a time-sensitive one.
Some of you will want to injure your characters too badly for them to continue fighting during this phase. Simply make note at the end of the post in which they do so that they're dropping from the line-up.
Available Enemies:
Chitauri: Garden-variety Chitauri soldiers; the weapon crafted by Tony Stark and Bobbi Morse will work to shut them down. They are hive-minded. Armed with Chitauri guns or spears. (Approx. 300)
Leviathan: Large, flying, whale-like creatures built for destruction, the nanites are not effective on them due to their size. Armed with teeth and size. (Approx. 3)
Chitlian: Bulked-up Chitauri soldiers that are more machine than biological. The nanites will take them down for brief periods, but they do reboot the system. Stronger than regular Chitauri and exempt from the hive-mind. Armed with Chitauri guns and spears. (Approx. 150)
Available Allies:
SHIELD Medics: Deployed to assist with the civilians more than anything, they are not particularly useful for fighting.
SHIELD Field Agents: Deployed to help take down the aliens, they are armed with the weapon in their favorite gun, in addition to a close-quarters weapon.
SHIELD Snipers: Deployed to buildings and surrounding areas or in choppers and planes above the battle with long-range weapons, they function as eyes in the sky and long-range gunmen.
Brotherhood Mutants: Morrigan brings with her some of the members of the Brotherhood, who jump into action as protection for their own kind.
New York Police: Armed only with their issued weapons, the police will mainly handle crowd control.
Atlantean Soldiers: Strong physical fighters, they are good at what they do. Atlanteans have ranged energy weapons.
Atlantean Elite: Armored, the Atlantean Elite represent the Empire's best, and they are skilled in a wide array of weapons, from several types of ranged energy weapons to melee weapons. Their armoring makes them considerably more durable than the average soldier, and their experience and skill is unmatched.
Asgardian Warriors: Superhumanly strong and with the occasional magical ability, these are highly-trained warriors with centuries of battle under their belt. Only a small group have made their way to Midgard for this battle, but they have spread throughout the city.
Svartalfar: The Dark Elves are superhumanly strong and excellently trained. They will sometimes have various kinetic abilities in addition and carry weapons similar to the Chitauri. (Approx. 100)
There's thunder in the sky that has been brought along by the arrival of the Atlantean army. Rain is coming at a steady beat, although not a heavy one. SHIELD is all over the area, and they've handed out their nanite-filled bullets to those in the area that prefer such weaponry. The NYPD is on-hand, helping to escort civilians to safety as people are still being dug out of the rubble of the first attack. The flash of the Bifrost was seen in the early pre-dawn hours over Manhattan, heralding the arrival of the Asgardians to the city, at their head travelling Thor and Baldr behind their Father, Odin, who many are in awe of though he does not seem pleased to be there.
It is still early when sirens breach the air, leviathans breaking through the clouds to deliver Chitauri to the ground in another attack, in larger numbers than before. With them are strange creatures of blue and purple skin; the Asgardians identify them as Svartalfar. There are occasional flashes in the sky that one would have to look closely at to discover they are not lightning; the Chitauri motherships are being fired upon by an ancient ship of Svartalfar make.
Behind these alien attackers, and not yet having reached the planet's surface, Thanos comes. His eminent arrival spreads a feeling of doom in the air that cannot quite be pinpointed by those on the ground - yet.
The Bronx was left relatively untouched in the previous attacks, and as such the civilians are not prepared for the army that rains down on them. In Concourse, the attack came down near Yankee Stadium, quickly spreading North towards Highbridge.
Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold But you will remember me Remember me for centuries And just one mistake Is all it will take We'll go down in history Remember me for centuries He-e-e-ey ya, oh he-e-e-ey He-e-e-ey ya Remember me for centuries Mummified my teenage dreams No, it's nothing wrong with me The kids are all wrong The story's all off Heavy metal broke my heart Come on, come on and let me in The bruises on your thighs like my fingerprints and this is supposed to match
Valtyrr, taking his spot beside Alflyana at the edge of the roof, talking about their course of action from here, given they know what comes next.Thanos, surely, had to be on the way. Looking over at his Princess, Valtyrr paused in his thought before he gave a good nod. “We move out! Follow our lead, and pass the message along to our brethren that we are taking our world back this day!” The Midgardians, as fragile as they were, seemed to learn about how to protect themselves. This street was mostly empty, though, he could already hear the fighting already commencing in the air above them. This was going to be their crowning day, and he yearned for it.
Using the recently found capability of teleportation, Valtyrr took the small group of Svartalfar from the roof to the ground instantaneously. Glancing sidelong at Yana, he grinned. “This shall be our day.” He added, taking the weapon from his side and holding it at the ready. The electricity in the air from the thunder and lightning only made him itch to begin the fight all the sooner. The sirens sounded and he looked up, waiting to see the villainous creatures carrying the vile Chitauri that the Mad Titan controlled. ”Spread out! Take out Chitauri when you see them!” He explained splitting the group off, some staying with him and Yana, and some going off down the other way. They would regroup later, he was sure.
One block from their position was the Yankee Stadium, he’d spent a couple hours there watching a game, once. It was an fascinating sport, and he would only be slightly saddened if the stadium were to become rubble from this dispute. The street sign he caught a glimpse of said Gerard Avenue. From above came a roar and soon Chitauri were vaulted to the ground. “Ladies first.” He offered, momentarily pausing then following behind Yana to begin their reign over these vile varmints.
He had not been this thrilled for a fight in a very long time. And it was possible that was due to the tight leash Thanos had upon their people. He had not been this excited since probably boyhood. Having the Reaver on their side, and now being in the true position he was meant to hold, it felt like the tables were turning in their favor, which was exactly what they needed.

"Life’s a trial by fire..."
Alflyana stared out at the Midgardian city as the sirens began to wail throughout. Rain was coming down in sheets, drenching the world while thunder and lightning echoed overhead, heralding the arrival of Thanos’ forces. The Svartalfar had come first - squadrons of them appearing throughout the city, like scouts. Alflyana had not hesitated to drop the glamor she had worn here on Midgard when she and Valtyrr had first encountered a group of their people. It had taken no more than a glance for the warriors to recognize their Princess. Some even knew the man by her side as Prince Amalroos’ XO.
Beneath her skin, Alflyana was boiling up, the power she’d been learning to handle thanks to King von Doom ready at her fingertips. She kept it in check for the moment, her eyes skimming the belly of the clouds as the roars of Leviathans drifted down from above the storm. Somewhere up there, Amalroos and the rest of his men were giving Thanos’ atmospheric troops hell. In six months, they’d managed to get the Reaver back into decent working order. It had been a bit of a learning process for them - the Reaver was truly an ancient vessel - but none of the men Amalroos had brought with him were less than brilliant. Valtyrr and herself, engineers that they were, had had a large hand in the refurbishing process, but she had informed her brother that she would not be flying with it.
Thanos would be down here somewhere, and she had more than a few things to say to the Mad Titan.
Alflyana blinked at the sound of Valtyrr’s voice and she turned towards him, her stark white locks shifting across the pauldrons of her new armor. A tiny smile tugged at her lips as she skimmed her lover’s body, instinctively checking for flaws in the new suit she’d made for him. It was perfect, just as it had been ever since they’d finished forging it back on Nidavellir. She opted for silence as he began to rally the troops around them, but offered a gentle nod of approval.
She had traveled with Valtyrr by way of his new gift of teleportation on many an occasion now, but it always left a prickly feeling at the base of her spine. Shoving the sensation away mentally, she glanced around at the street he’d taken them to. It was quiet for now, but she knew soon enough there would be more than a handful of Thanos’ whelps to kill.
“The Midgardians are not to be harmed!” she called out after Valtyrr began to bark out orders. “If they attack, you run. We are here to kill the Mad Titan and all those who support him. And then we are going home to free our people!” A cheer rose up amongst the Svartalfar gathered around, some raising weapons into the air in preemptive triumph. Alflyana nodded in response, her jaw set with determination as she turned away again, letting Valtyrr split their forces to cover more ground.
As the first wave broke through the clouds and descended towards the stadium nearby, Alflyana inhaled a deep breath. It had been a long time since she’d been in an all-out battle. One-on-one sparring had occurred throughout the millenia, but she’d never really been a frontline soldier. There was no room for doubt now, though. This fight was for more than just the Midgardian’s home - it was also for Svartalfheim.
Valtyrr’s small jab of encouragement finally summoned the glimmer of a grin to Alflyana’s lips and she turned to head towards the Chitauri working their way down the street, but stopped after only half a step. Deep creases formed between her eyebrows as they knit together and she whirled back towards Valtyrr once more. Without caring how many of their brethren saw, she reached up with her free hand, tugging herself up to secure his lips with her own. The kiss was brief, but passionate, and she could feel herself already relaxing with relief. If she fell in battle, she could perhaps die happy with the taste of his lips still on hers.
“Good hunting,” she whispered. The phrase was a typical form of ‘good luck’ back home, but the sad, yet determined smile on her face suggested it was meant to be much more than that for Valtyrr.
The Chitauri were nearly upon them now. Turning to face the incoming threat, Alflyana planted herself squarely between the horde of enemies and her people. Her sword hand stayed back, and instead, she shoved her free hand out, palm facing the Chitauri. Flames leapt from her fingertips, bright orange and white tongues lapping at the creatures’ flesh. Three dropped instantly, caught in the center of her momentary inferno. While some worked to stop the flames from consuming them more, others dodged back to avoid the blast entirely. Alflyana leapt forward then, her sword lashing out to cut one of the distracted beasts down. Without hesitation, the warriors around her followed suit, taking advantage of the Chitauri squadron’s moment of disarray. The exceptional weapons she’d helped to create for her troops as per the Mad Titan’s orders back home sliced easily through the aliens, like hot knives through butter. Hopefully the rest of the battle remained this easy...

Barely a day's rest before the armies were coming again. And it hadn't even been all that restful, considering that there had been a lot of clean-up to do. She had been glad to see the reinforcements arrive, but that still didn't make the arrival of aliens from above any easier to deal with. After all, who actually wanted to fight an alien army bent on taking over or destroying your planet? [break][break] Seeing the creatures come down hard on Yankee Stadium was... well, Jess had no attachment to it personally, but it was still an iconic part of New York City. "Cap's gonna be so upset when he hears about this," she commented to Agent Dugan, who had been deployed to this part of the city alongside herself and a group of other field agents who were mostly their juniors. They were in charge here, supposedly, but Jess would defer to the man with decades of experience on her. That was just the smart thing to do. [break][break] The Chitauri had brought with them a new ally, and word through the comms from other areas was that they were quite hard to beat, and that the Asgardians were especially un-fond of them. They weren't long on the field of battle before Jess caught sight of a peculiar thing; the new aliens - Svartalfar, apparently - were turning on their former comrades. Led by a woman and man, the Svartalfar were cutting down any Chitauri in their path. "Well. That's new and helpful," Jess commented before paging the observation in to HQ. This was suddenly seeming far more complicated than it had mere moments before. [break][break] Deciding that it was time to jump into the fray herself, she gave a nod to Agent Dugan before heading into a group of Chitauri that were headed their way. Gun out to fire at the far targets and venom blasts crackling at her fingertips for the closer one, Jess felt more at ease now than she had on the West coast. She knew what it took to take these things down now. She knew how to hit them and where; especially after Stark's little update on analyzed weak spots. It wouldn't be easy, but it would hopefully not be any harder than before, despite the increased enemy numbers.

The comment from Agent Drew had Dum Dum snorting. ”Ecstatic is more like it,” He commented. ”Even more so if it means they can’t play for the rest of the season.” Cap had been an avid Dodgers fan before they had changed states. For the life of him he couldn't remember at the moment if the captain had continued to support his team or if he’d set his sights on another. Not the Yankees though, there weren’t a lot of things in life that Cap strongly disliked but the Yankees were one of them.
It wouldn’t bother him any if the stadium was lost in the process. He only followed baseball with half an ear and the stadium had only been built 7 years ago so it wasn’t as if it was some historical monument. It would just be another giant building that had gotten taken out in the mess. One out of who knows how many.
His head shot up at Jess’s observation. ”Interesting,” He drawled, scanning the horizon and taking in the scene before him. ”That doesn’t mean their friendlies though,” He cautioned. ”Their alliance might have changed but that doesn’t mean they won’t mow us down where we stand.” He paused a moment thinking something through. ”Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, the enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that. Don’t trust them, but don’t outright attack them unless they make the first move.” Yeah that sounded about right.
He eyed the rain that was pouring down rain with trepidation. Why must it be raining? This was going to make the upcoming fight rather difficult. Sighing he fished his sunglasses out of a pocket. He hated wearing them, they tended to cut into his ears, but the fact that they wrapped around and would protect his eyes from the blinding rain. Better irritated ears then compromising his vision. His guns were also going to need some extra TLC tonight when he got home. Guns and water did not mix but there was nothing he could do about that right now. When he had a moment of down time he’d have to take them completely apart and dry everything off thoroughly. At least they wouldn’t be fully submerged in water.
Clicking off his safety he raised the gun before, keeping the barrel pointed down, pulled his hat down over his head, and stepped out into the torrential down pour. Instantly he was pelted by fat drops of rain. He winced at the initial contact before forcing himself to ignore it; a difficult but not impossible task. Once the Chitauri were within range he raised the barrel and sent a round of bullets in their direction.
Val was very much in the mode now, this was nothing new to him, and in fact he enjoyed fighting a fair bit. It was the thrill of the hunt, and hunting the Chitauri was a pleasure he wasn't sure he could ever live up to again. With Yana by his side, and the Reaver in the air, the solder was almost certain that the Mad Titan would fall this day. If nothing else, they could make sure there was no power left in his army to rule anyone again.
The kiss Yana parted with left him slightly stunned, because of several reasons. One, the fact that they had never been sure of their relationship and how to explain it to others. Another, because she had always been so stoic in public places towards him, that this caught him off guard. There were many more but he was positive that none could ever life up to the grin that lingered on his lips. “Good hunting, love.” He replied putting his hand over hers briefly before letting her part from him.
Valtyrr was determined that they would all get out of this fight alive, and they would take their realm back from Thanos no matter the power it took. He would slay the Titan himself if he had to.
His eyes set upon the Midgardians before them and closed the cap whole there was a brief interval of Chitauri landing boots on the ground. “Tidings to you, Midgardians,” Valtyrr offered, dipping his head in greeting. “We come as allies to you. Come, let us fight!” While he probably shouldn't have been the one to greet them, Yana looked far to pleased in tearing through Chitauri and Chitlian soldiers as she had been guarded for far too long.
“You have skills, yes?” Val questioned the Shield agents, waving them along to join in their ranks. His sword struck one of the Chitlian solders who charged him, and he sliced up, gutting the creature with smooth motions, years on years of training. The gun shots rang in hi ls ears as the Agents fired upon the Titan's soldiers and found he remembered those weapons well from his undercover time at SHIELD.
Rain or water of any sort did no bode well on them, and when he found a couple Chitauri energy weapons, he lobbed them in the direction of a couple of the rookies that looked a little nervous. “These needn’t worry about the rain, they will fire just fine.”

"Life’s a trial by fire..."
Even with a few inches between them, Alflyana could feel Valtyrr very nearly buzzing with anticipation beside her. He was an engineer like herself, but he was also a warrior through and through. Being able to let loose for the first time in years was undoubtedly a moment he’d been waiting for. The fact that they were facing an enemy who’d crushed the Svartalf people under heel for decades would only make each kill that much sweeter.
As she pulled away from his lips, a slow grin formed upon the Princess’ face. Despite all of his pre-battle jitters, he seemed easily stunned by the action. When at last his grin matched her own and he responded in kind to her words of good fortune, she turned away from her soul mate. Dark chocolate orbs flecked in gold shifted around at the soldiers gathered closely to the Princess and her personal bodyguard. They knew now that he was not simply a bodyguard to the Princess, and judging by the glances of some, it came as no surprise.
Had it been so obvious? Had she and Valtyrr been the only ones hiding their feelings from each other all these years?
Now was not the time to think on such matters, so she focused on assuming command of her forces. Midgard would be rallying soon enough to combat the filth that wished to destroy their world, and when they did, Svartalfheim would stand with them.
While Alflyana focused on proving that point by decimating the foes in front of her, she could hear Valtyrr greeting the first of the Midgardians. Only once the soldiers swept in to finish the squadron of Chitauri off did she turn to assess the men and women they would hopefully be fighting beside this day. One of the men looked familiar - bright red, bushy mustache… bowler hat that according to many sources had not been in style on Midgard for decades… Yes, that must be the Howling Commando known as “Dum Dum”. According to her research, Agent Romanova and he were relatively close friends, though she’d had no one-on-one interactions with the large Midgardian during her time as the Black Widow. The young woman beside him - a mutant of some kind, it seemed - was completely unfamiliar to the Princess.
It mattered not, however. So long as they opposed Thanos and did not harm her people, she had no qualms with the humans.
“Agent Dugan!” she called out above the light smattering of rain filling the area. “I am Princess Alflyana of Svartalfheim. You have my word that no harm shall come to you or yours from myself or my men. Already, the word is spreading throughout the city to the rest of my people, commanding them to turn their weapons on the tyrant who sought to keep us under heel for far too long.”
Her jaw set as she spoke, decades of resentment slipping out into her voice. A fire danced in her eyes, which quickly shifted to the group of incoming Chitauri. The tips of her free hand ignited as the foes crept closer, but at the last moment, she hurled the growling ball of flame upwards to a chariot passing overhead. It exploded in a wonderful display of shoddy engineering, taking out its wingman before they both crashed into a nearby building.
Lifting her sword into the air, Alflyana stepped away from the SHIELD agents so that her soldiers could see her better. “Today, three of the Nine Realms fight as one! she called out, her voice echoing down the street. “Today, the Mad Titan dies!” A cheer went up throughout the ranks, the sound trickling back down to a murmur as the roar of a Leviathan entered the area.
“Valtyrr,” she purred, an eerie calm falling over the Princess. “I need to be there.” Pointing with her sword to the head of the whale easing its way towards them, a wicked grin slowly began to fill her lips as the blood in her veins started to boil in anticipation of what was to come. “Rhikaros and Kelyna, with me. Valtyrr, you have the command while we’re away.” A soldier with the power of manipulating shadows like her brother, Amalroos, would be good to have at her side aboard the monstrous creature, as would a second, more practiced pyromancer.

Jess shook her head a bit, though a grin played briefly across her lips at Dugan’s response. She didn’t understand sports much at all, much less the American ones, seeing as she hadn’t grown up in the States. It didn’t matter much; there would be plenty destroyed in the battle that would need rebuilding, and she was sure the city’s skyline would never be the same after this. If alien attacks were going to become a regular thing here, she was sure the city would start shrinking at some point. New York wouldn’t be as attractive to live in if ‘oh, and you might get killed by aliens’ went on the brochure. [break][break] She nodded at Dugan’s instructions, making sure that the other SHIELD Agents acknowledged them as well. It seemed like there was far more going on here than a simple attack on the Earth; they would need to keep their eyes peeled and their minds open, and she would likely have some interesting things to report back to her HYDRA superiors when all was said and done. [break][break] Startled slightly when herself and some of the Agents that had followed her rather than Dugan were addressed by one of the apparent leaders of the Svartalfar, she gave him a nod of agreement nonetheless, though she focused on the task at hand. “Svartalfar claim to be allies, at least in this sector,” she informed the city-wide comm channel, “There seems to be more going on here than originally thought.” She got mostly confusion back, as it seemed that the other sectors were still battling against the Svartalfar. Perhaps these were a small contingent of the group turning against their master. [break][break] She heard the female leader of the group speaking to Dugan, but she was too far away to be heard clearly over the rain, so she would have to wait for Dugan to relay information to get the full story on that. Jess continued on her mission to take down as many of the Chitauri as she could in her journey through the streets, directing the agents with her into more strategic positions as they went. There was a roar overhead and she saw one of the leviathans flying into view. “We could use air support out here; we don’t have any fliers or big guns among the deployed,” she called in, though the agents at the control center didn’t seem all that happy with the complaint, as apparently every sector was putting in a similar one. [break][break] Jess wasn’t the type to wish for help, but they could really use a Captain Marvel or an Iron Man at that moment.

He really hoped these alien invasions did not become a common occurrence. The U.S. had enough problems on it’s own without adding this mess to the mix. They needed to do that thing like the guy did in the show he liked. The one with the man who had lived more lifetimes than a man should yet never seemed to give up the good fight, no matter how many different faces he’d worn. He was the protector of Earth, despite not being native, and stood up to alien invaders in order to show them that Earth was not a place to be messed with.
Then again maybe this wasn’t the best example, even after this point had been made aliens continued to attack london. Granted he had only seen a handful of episodes over the years, he didn’t really spend a lot of time watching TV, but he enjoyed the few he had seen, both new and classic series. One of these days he’d make his way through the entire series.
Marching orders having been given out, Jess took a portion of the agents and went off in one direction, and before he could head off in another direction the Dark Elves Jess had drawn his attention to earlier called for his attention. Well one of them did anyways. Hearing his name, he all but stood at attention. A few of the agents near him tensed up, going for their weapons. Dum Dum held up a hand to stay their motion. Had they already forgotten what he had earlier said? He listened with great interest as the striking woman explained not only who she was but her intentions.
He searched for the correct words to answer her decree; his usual levity would not go over well in this moment. Finally he said ”Your highness,” He said, raising his voice to ensue he was heard. ”For as long as your men do not turn against us, we shall return the favour.” Keeping an eye on the incoming Chitauri he paused a moment to relay this information to Jess and the other agents over the comm, keeping an ear on the Princess’ speech.
It was the sort of speech you read about in history books; the kind that directors tried to adapt for the big screen but they never quite did the original justice. A handful of emotions swept through Dum Dum at the Princess’s speech and by the end of it he was feeling more ready than ever to face down the oncoming threat. By the time she'd finished talking it occurred to Dum Dum that he had met a real, bonafied princess. She wasn't a human princess but it was still kind of neat. He was going to have to tell to Nat next time he saw her. She probably wouldn't get a kick out out of it like he had but he still felt the need to share it all the same.
Feeling his determination and anticipation for a fight increased after that speech, even though th e majority of it wasn't even directed towards him Dum Dum motioned for the agents closest to him to follow him at took off at a run straight at a group of incoming Chitauri.
The SHIELD agents around them seemed to be slightly less inclined to trust them, though Valtyrr could understand their hesitancy. He supposed that it was justified given that both he and Yana, well and Amal for that matter, had snuck in under their radar. That should have been a breach of trust, though, he also knew that they would never know. The perks of being shapeshifting creatures. He supposed, however that they would figure it out one day, and perhaps that would cause a change of heart toward them. The point of their meeting now was the kill the Mad Titan. That was the common goal, and thus Valtyrr could ignore the chances of betrayal for now.
At Yana's battle rally cry, and the cheer from the collective troops, Valtyrr nodded, keeping an eye out for civilians they could move out of the way before they meet their demise. Nothing at the present moment.
His attention was drawn back from his planning with the strong call of his name from his soul mate and his eyes followed the sleek line of her blade up to the Leviathan, and he grinned holding his hands in a steady position to think about their bodies being upon the Leviathan. “Of course, Princess. Give me a moment.” He relaxed his body, before willing theirs to disappear out of the spot they were, and reappearing atop the leviathan, as requested.
“You,” he turned back to the rest of the Elves. “With me!” His attention turned back to the SHIELD agents before them. “Do you have a plan of action here, or shall we take the front line?” the rest of the Elves filtered in from the side streets to regroup and take the direction from Val.
He took the next most capable warrior and put her in charge of the group he was sending in the opposite direction, Jilarka had trained along side their battalion for a while at his request, and he knew of her skills. He glanced up at the dark haired woman when she mentioned not having any big guns to the comm unit in her ear. “Milady, if I say so, we are all varied in skill, whatever plan you have, fill me in and I'll assign someone.” He added, sending Jilarka off with her group as his sword pierced through a Chitauri who had attempted to sneak up behind the woman.

"Life’s a trial by fire..."
Alflyana almost smirked at the way the Midgardian military man stood at attention when his name was called. It reminded her of the way Amalroos’ men snapped to whenever the Lord General came into their general vicinity. The mere thought of her brother sent a wave of concern washing through the Princess, but she steeled herself against the emotion. He was the most capable warrior she knew - more so even than Valtyrr. If he couldn’t survive this, none of them could.
Nodding ever so slightly at Agent Dugan’s use of the respectful term for her, she cast a quick glance at the men surrounding him. They seemed incredibly on edge, but at a simple motion from their leader, they kept their cool. Her face remained an impassive mask as she returned her attention to the man bearing the bushy red mustache and she nodded more noticeably. “Any who turn their blades on you are worthy of death. My orders are not subject to questioning or disobeying. I can assure you my men here are loyal to the true crown of Svartalfheim, but there may be those corrupted by the Mad Titan elsewhere throughout. My men are spreading the word throughout the city as we speak.”
She would have no qualms laying into any Svartalfar who disobeyed her. Disobedience was tantamount to treason, so far as she was concerned - a crime punishable by death.
Turning back to Valtyrr and the incoming Leviathan, Alflyana focused her energies on the power that would be necessary to take the creature down. The feeling of being teleported was somewhat familiar, but she still got shivers after the fact. Still, it only took her a few moments to get her bearing once aboard the giant space whale. Steadying herself, she waited for her fellow pyromancer before pointing out where to focus their energies.
It didn’t take long for the flames to do their job, and soon enough, the umbrakinetic was able to sink thick blades of shadow down into the soft under flesh of the creature. The Leviathan screeched in agony as spike after spike penetrated its skull and Alflyana knelt in order to grab hold of a plate to secure herself for the wild descent. “On my mark, jump!” she called out to the soldiers flanking her.
They were still two stories up (three, if one counted the height of the Leviathan itself) when Alflyana gave the order. All three leapt in unison, their boots cracking the pavement below as their considerably denser bodies hit the ground. The Leviathan continued on a ways down the street before reaching its final destination, but the Princess didn’t have time to worry about that. Chitauri were already on them, their shrieks of rage disgusting in Alflyana’s ears. Snarling, she waded into the fray, her sword slicing through Chitauri and Chitlian alike until the trio made it back to the barricade.
“Glisara! Trono! Air support!” she called up, hearing the request from the enhanced Midgardian. With nods of understanding, the pair of aeromancers took to the skies, using their natural gifts to move them through the air far more gracefully than any of the chariots could attempt. Their blades sliced through the enemies, taking them out slowly, but surely as another roar filled the air.
“Valtyrr!” Once certain she had her love’s attention, she grinned wickedly at the man who’d won her heart so many centuries ago. “Seems we’ve got more company, my love…” It had worked the first time. She could feel her power fading, but only slightly. If she kept it up like this, she could go at least a few more hours - easily long enough to help clear out this sector before they moved on to find the Mad Titan himself.

The addition of the Dark Elves to their side wound up being an excellent thing. They had a greater variety of heavies than the SHIELD agents on the ground in this part of the city, and as such they went to work on the Leviathans straight away. Jess was relieved to see that, as she hadn't been sure about their ability to get those things out of the air without any of SHIELD's heavier hitters around them. [break][break] Jess' own powers were slowly draining. Her main utilization was as an infiltrator, and she wasn't usually tasked with long, drawn-out usage of her abilities. They drained her energy quicker than she'd like, and much as she was trying to conserve that, she was tiring fast. [break][break] She saw some of the Elves well on their way to bringing down one of the Leviathans and gathered the attention of nearby agents. "Let's get people out of the way of that thing while it comes down. We don't want anyone getting caught under it," she ordered, going with them to move civilians out of the probable path of the creature. They cleared the last civilian just in time for it to hit the ground, much to Jess' relief. It was then that two of the Elves peeled away from their leaders in order to offer Air Support to her men, and Jess was grateful for any help they could get. [break][break] "Let's take down as many of these creatures as we can while we have people covering us from above!" she encouraged her small team, and despite their reluctance to trust the Elves in the air, they fought with renewed energy. Jess herself switched mostly to her guns, letting her powers take a rest to recharge. "Dugan, how you doing over there?" she asked through the comms, hoping that he was hanging in with them.

Dum Dum had no idea what the princess was talking about. Okay so he caught some of it but a lot of it was a mystery to him. Svartalfheim? Mad titan? Did they have some idea as to who was behind the recent attacks? Hopefully this little get together would provide him with some much needed information to take back to HQ. He hated feeling like he was going in blind. That’s how mistakes were made and how people got killed.
The fact that he worked for a super secret organization that delighted in doling out information purely by “need to know” standards. For some things he could see why that would be important, loose lips sink ships after all, but that didn’t mean he had to like it. ”Mad titan?” He asked trying to pair up the name with the little he knew about current events. No hits.
”By all means,” He told the other dark elf. ”Carry on with whatever you had planned.” For all their talk of changing sides he still didn’t trust their new allies. He knew nothing about them. For all he knew this could be some tactic to throw them off kilter. He wasn’t about to divulge the details lest they be turned against them at a later time.
As if his head wasn’t hurting enough with everything going on some of the dark elves vanished before his eyes. Including the two he had been talking to ”I am getting too old for this shit,” He grumbled turning back towards his people. ”Alright, you know the drill. Fan out and let’s start taking out as many of the chitauri bastards as we can get our hands on. And no monkeying about, keep the lines of communication clear.”
”We will if you will,” Someone shot back.
”Fair enough,” Dum Dum grinned. ”Now go out there and show them what you’re made of!”
”I’d rather not be disemboweled thank you very much.” Dum Dum snorted at the lame joke and shooed them outwards. ”Go do your jobs. Raggamuffins the lot of you.” He turned his attention to Jess who was talking through the coms
”Everything’s good here Jess, how are things on your end?”
Snapping orders in their native tongue was much quicker than the Midgardian language and he sent a few of the well trained off to take out another group of Chitauri soldiers. Or at least start that process. Valtyrr was confident that if they kept the pace they had taking out the foot soldiers, that taking out the Leviathans would be rather simple, especially given their skill set among the group. “Aye, Mad Titan. Thanos. The man who claims he could take over the Nine Realms and rule like as its one true dictator. I do not believe you would like him much.” Val explained to the Agent Dugan.
He stalked down the street taking out a Chitlian, or rather provoking one and fighting with it before slamming it into the cement and shoving his sword through its chest. They were fairly easy targets once he knew how to counter their attacks. Valtyrr was no rookie to difficult opponents, but the Chitlian, though strong, and somewhat smart, were not as bright as the Svartalfvar by any means. But now he knew that brute force was more their fighting style and that using any slight finesse seemed to throw them off. And it threw the Chitauri off even more, which was very nice. Pulling his sword from the chest of the downed Chitlian, Valtyrr turned to see the Leviathan crash into the ground, creating a cloud of dust in its quake.
When he heard his name, the Soldier turned his gaze upon his lover and grinned wickedly in return. “Of course we do. I would expect no less.” If Thanos had not realized that the Svartalfvar would retaliate for his oppression, he had been very much wrong about them. Valtyrr took her hand in his and teleported them atop the newly joined Leviathan, balancing himself once they were up there. Teleported on top of moving things was never an easy task, he'd never missed, but sometimes he aimed higher than intended and there was a small drop. Kneeling to hold his position for a moment, Val took in the view, and glanced at Yana giving a nod. “You've done this, you lead the way.” He would simply do why he could.

"Life’s a trial by fire..."
The SHIELD agent looked almost as if he were trying to hide his confusion behind the bristly mustache on his top lip and Alflyana nearly sighed out loud. Amalroos had met with the Black Widow and Steven Rogers some months ago, in an effort to gain audience with the King of Atlantis. Two Avengers, who doubled as SHIELD agents, knew more about her brother’s plan than she cared for - and yet this veteran did not even know who the Mad Titan was? Did he not know just whose forces he was fighting? Midgard had suffered at the hands of soldiers who fought without questioning why, had they not?
“Thanos,” she repeated, echoing her lover as she tried to hide the slight irritation in her voice. “He is the one who commands the Chitauri; the one who was enslaved our people for six decades,” she added, her voice growing in ferocity as her emotions began to get the better of her. The heat was rising; she’d need to release it soon. “That ends today.” It wasn’t a threat.
It was a promise.
Civilians caught in the way of the falling Leviathan were not something Alflyana paid attention to. This attack had come nearly a day after the last. The time for fleeing was long past gone. Now was the time to fight. At least their Midgardian soldiers cared for their well-being, one of the enhanced individuals rallying a team to clear the area as the Leviathan came crashing down sans Svartalfar.
“It’s a shame, really. Had I known they were coming, I might have tried to make some fallas dumplings for our guests,” she grinned, the wickedness matching Valtyrr’s own. As his hand darted out towards hers, she met him halfway and pulled herself close. Teleporting was still somewhat awkward to her, but having him close would help her ground herself on the other side.
Dropping the few inches onto the Leviathan’s back, Alflyana released her hand from Valtyrr’s and grabbed hold of one of the large plate scales to steady herself as they crouched. She sucked in a deep breath, her bright golden-flecked eyes scanning the area for any Chitauri threats. The area was clear for the time being, but it was only a matter of time before they would catch sight of the pair upon the whale’s back. Rising to her full height, she stepped between Valtyrr and her intended target: the base of the creature’s spine.
“Keep your eyes open. The Chitauri seem to not appreciate it when we attack their pets,” she purred, sheathing her sword as she focused on harnessing the energy from within. Heat rose within her, and everywhere a raindrop hit her bare flesh, it evaporated instantly until she almost seemed to be steaming. She did not have the second pyromancer with her, so she would need to increase the temperature on her own this time.
White hot flames finally lashed out from her hands, searing into the base of the thick plating. It wasn’t a quick process, weaking the metal-like shell, but she was a women of average patience. What she lacked in true patience, however, she more than made up for in determination, and as soon as her sights were set upon a goal, it was nigh impossible to tear her away. “I’m almost in!” she called back to Valtyrr, letting him know it was nearly time for his assistance. “At my signal, thrust your spear into the opening.”
A rogue Chitauri leapt down towards the Leviathan’s snout, landing half a foot away from Alflyana’s left flank. Instead of stopping what she was doing, she merely lifted one hand. The intense flames incinerated the beast on impact, and what fell to the ground below was nothing more than a burned husk. It wasn’t long after her hand returned to the task at hand that she finally saw the crack she was looking for. Cutting off the flow of power, she took a few shaky steps back and looked to Valtyrr. “Now!”
