WHAT'S UP WITH THESE MEMBER GROUPS?

An excellent question. Mortal Ends has several member groups for its active characters in addition to supplementary groups. The application includes a Member Group field so that you can tell the admin team which group your character best fits in. If you are confused on this point, feel free to ask an admin which group best fits your character.

WHAT ARE ASSOCIATIONS?

These are groupings for characters that haven't quite merited a full "Member Group" but are still highly relevant to characters and their plots. Characters can still be messaged according to these associations and have a badge for them, but they will not be the sorted group for any character.

WHAT ABOUT BADGES?

Each member group has a corresponding badge. Characters will be sorted into a singular, primary member group, but will receive the badge for every group they are technically a part of. For example, Clint Barton would be sorted into the 'Avenger' group, but would receive the badges for both the 'Avenger' and 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' groups.

CAN GROUPS AND BADGES CHANGE?

Yes! As your character grows on the forum, their affiliation and groups can change with them. If you want to add a member group or association, you can simply do so from the "Groups" page on your profile (for instructions, go here). You can send a message to the group leader as well, telling them why you want to be in that group. Once that's done, let S.S.A. Erin know and she'll give you the corresponding badge!

CHARACTER GROUPS/BADGES

Asgardian

The Asgardian group is specific to those characters that hail from the Asgardian plane. Characters canon to the Norse mythology or the Comics as Asgardian will be placed into this book. Original characters, however, cannot be Asgardian.

Atlantean

For anyone that is a citizen of Atlantis, whether Homo sapien or Homo mermanus, this is the member group for them. It can also contain people allied to Atlantis, although it would not be their main group.

Avenger

The Avenger group is only for members of the Avengers Initiative. Characters can be invited to join the Initiative via plot on the board. The Avengers group will always be a character's display group should they qualify.

Civilian

Characters that are not part of some kind of organization will be sorted here. These characters may have powers and the like, but they aren't members of the Government or organizations like SHIELD.

Government

Anyone who works for their state's government as an Official of some kind can qualify for this group. Presidents, dictators, members of state committees; there's many ways to get the gavel.

Mutant

All mutants will be placed in this group. While they are not necessarily a united front, it is their major qualifying factor and their are affiliations for groups like the X-Men and Brotherhood.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

If your character works for S.H.I.E.L.D. in any capacity, this will be one of their member groups. This includes field agents, consultants, and just plain desk jockeys.

Superhuman

Characters that have powers not derived from a mutation or their Asgardian or Svartalfar physiology, will belong to this group. Inhumans are currently part of this group.

Svartalf

This is for characters that come from Svartalfheim. The Svartalfar are exempt from the overriding nature of the Villain group.

Villain

If your character is villainous in nature, this is the group for them. Servants of Thanos, members of Hydra, and other characters out to create mischief and mayhem will be sorted here. The Villains group is an overriding group unless your character is Svartalfar.

Deceased

If your character dies in the course of the plot, this will become their new member group. They will keep the badge even if they should somehow be resurrected. Deceased characters can still be played in past threads that occurred before they died, but they do not count for a member's character count unless resurrected. (Please note that with Admin permission some deceased characters can be played in other instances as well, like in Helheim or other realms where the dead can walk.)

Canon Character

If your character is canon to the movies, the comics, or the myths, they will receive this badge to acknowledge that you've taken on that challenge.

Original Character

If your character has been created as a complete original by yourself, they will receive this badge to acknowledge that you've taken on that challenge.

CHARACTER ASSOCIATIONS/BADGES

A.I.M.

Those that work for or are otherwise associated with Advanced Idea Mechanics.

Brotherhood of Mutants

Those that are a part of Magneto's most trusted allies. They protect the Royal Family of Genosha.

Defenders

Those part of the Superhero group started by Doctor Strange and others; they work outside any government influence.

Fantastic Four

Those that are part of the group or otherwise associated with it.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Those who have joined Star-Lord on his  mission to do a bit of good and a bit of bad for the good of the galaxy.

The Hand

Those that are members of the mysterious organization of red-wearing ninjas.

Hellfire Club

Those who are members of this prestigious organization, whether they are in the Inner Circle of more villainous characters or not.

Hydra Empire

Those that have loyalty to the Hydra Empire and belong to the organization of Nazi-like extremists.

Inhuman

Those whose powers were gained by exposure to the Terrigen Mists or Terrigen Crystals.

Morlock

Those mutants that are part of the group that lives in the sewer system of New York City, cut off from the world above due to their mutations.

Secret Warrior

Those that are part of the elite group of SHIELD-affiliated heroes created in answer to the Avengers breaking away slightly.

Thunderbolts

Those who are perhaps more villainous but wish to reform their ways, organized under the group started by Barney Barton.

X-Men

Those who use their mutations for the protection of all mankind under the tutelage of Professor Xavier.

SUPPLEMENTARY GROUPS

Administration

Each member of the Staff Team here on Mortal Ends has their own member group, but all of them have the above badge on an OOC account with their name prefixed by "S.S.A.".

Applying

New members that are still in the process of applying for their characters will be listed under this group in the member list. This group is barred from posting in the in-character sections of the site.

Inactive

Members that have missed an activity check are placed in this group in the member list. Their names are colored black around the board and they are barred from posting in the in-character areas of the site until they contact a staff member with the intention of returning. You can request that a character be moved to this group if you don't feel like you have time to keep up with them at the moment but might want to pick them up again later.

Characters that are listed as inactive are considered as up for grabs and can be applied for by another member or potential member.
