After making sure that Darcy was okay, Tony's next order of business was making sure Alice was; his worry over Darcy had taken precedence after realizing that she was actively participaing in a combat zone, but surely Alice had more sense than that. Either way, he didn't quite know where she was at the moment, so as he stepped into the suit he called up JARVIS. "Alright buddy, let's track that wayward daughter of mine," he said.
"Sir, you have said that you wish not to betray Miss Moore's trust by doing such things," JARVIS pointed out and Tony sighed a bit.
"Yes, but now I need to find her," he replied and the AI complied after a few more token arguments while Tony took to the air. Soon enough he was on his way to Brooklyn towards Alice, scowling at the exact part of Brooklyn that she was in. He had intentionally stayed away from her apartment or even tracking it down in order to allow her to have her own space, as he didn't want to smother her and whatnot. He wanted to be a better father than his had been. So far he thought he was doing a pretty good job.
Good thing he could track her electronics when necessary, though.
This part of the city hadn't come out of the attack very well, but it also hadn't been all that great to begin with. He felt that he needed to lock her in Stark Tower to protect her, but he didn't feel like staring as the evil Step-Mother in his very own fairytale today. Spotting Alice on the streets below, he made a beeline for her, having JARVIS run a quick scan on her to make sure she wasn't hurt too badly. She seemed a bit battered and bruised, but not broken, so that was good.
He was out of the Iron Man suit almost as soon as his boots touched the ground, rushing towards her and gripping her upper arms as he checked her over. "Thank god you're okay. You're okay, right? I'm taking you back to the Tower. Also, you can't live in this part of the city. If you don't want to move into the tower, that's fine, but I'm getting you an apartment in Manhattan. One of the nice parts. I'm so glad you're okay." With that, he pulled her into a hug.

The first attacks had been predicted, and Brooklyn had been hit hard, though mostly it was the nicer parts of it that had the most trouble. Surprisingly, both battles of New York, all the rundown sections came out a lot better in some ways than the richer and nicer sections of the city. The people were already used to being ignored by the city. After all, who gave a crap about this section of the city? So when the second run of attacks had hit, a lot of the civilians had been caught unawares. The worse parts of Brooklyn looked like a damn war zone, as the citizens had to fire back at the first attackers with what they had before SHIELD and some of the mutants and the army drew the attention of the bug like aliens.
Then there had to be a move to stay inside or go somewhere safe by the police, to which Alice would’ve liked to say ‘yeah, where exactly?’ She was a little battered and bruised from it just being an active combat zone. Currently people were hanging about, but several of them were being corralled by the National guard, because a few of the people in this neighborhood were opportunistic and had already started looting the minute the aliens had left the borough.
Alice, of course, had been spotted by informed SHIELD officials who tried to immediately get her to safety, and she’d refused to immediately leave, not without her cat or stuff. And there were people that needed way more help than she did. Which had gone over not as well as she would’ve liked, but at least they started helping out the other people, though she’d been placed on the sidelines. Still, she’d taken a sturdy wooden baseball bat just for defense, mainly because SHIELD wouldn’t give her a better weapon.
Currently she was on the phone to her mother. It was a wonder the phones still worked what with the alien invasion happening. You would think they would definitely start preparing some sort of space defense now, since this was the second time this had happened.
“Yes, ma, I’m fine. Is Atlanta okay? You guys weren’t hit were you?” Alice asked, getting a response she didn’t really want to hear. “But you’re alright? Everyone’s all right?” Alice asked, also for confirmation about some other people. She glanced up as a lot of the people still milling about stared skyward, spotting Iron Man flying, and then quickly descending. Some of the people staring seemed to start whispering.
Alice narrowed her eyes a bit at that. She was already pretty sure of how he kept finding her, and they needed to have a chat about how that wasn’t cool. She supposed in this situation she could technically give him a pass on that, he wouldn’t necessarily know that the phone lines were up and working if he hadn’t used them. Almost as soon as he landed, Tony was out of the suit and looking her over, and speaking rapidly, and pulling her into a hug, which was an out of the blue thing for her. So her initial reaction was just shock, before reciprocating. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Alice responded to the first part. She was less concerned about Tony; even last time the Iron man suit had held up pretty good against the Chitauri.
The other parts of his rapid talking finally had time to register. “Wait, what?!” Alice said in response to the whole taking her to the tower thing, along with some of the extra stuff, slightly grimacing because she what her neighborhood was like. Still, Brooklyn was her home, as crappy as some parts of it were. “Dere are bad parts of Manhattan?” Alice stated, sounding disbelieving that the shining jewel of New York had bad parts, though logically it would. Back on to the subject at hand. She didn’t like that he was deciding things for her, but also had been trying to get out of the inner city for years, but the shiny world outside didn’t operate on the same rules. It was a grand internal battle, one she was still having even during this moment. “I mean, yeah, I’d like out but Brooklyn’s my home. Can’t I just...get a nicer place here?” She muttered.
“No.” Alice said, quite firmly. “I’m not goin’ nowhere. I leave, an’ no one else is gonna stay here an’ help.” Alice stated, crossing her arms. It was an unfortunate truth; no one cared about the less fortunate. The best that would happen would be that everyone was escorted to some sort of bunker, but even then. It was like ships; the rich and elite got the best of the best, and then it went downhill from there, until people...like her got the slim pickings. Plus she just got all twitchy when she didn’t have much to do, at least in a crisis situation.
Normal days, she could be extremely lazy, but a crisis situation? She needed to run or do something to help. Anything. Because if she didn’t have something to constantly do, she would have to deal with her inner thoughts, which she would rather not do. Better to have something to do rather than stew around with her own thoughts and sit on her hands. She wasn’t the type of person for that.
A small crowd had started to form; several locals and some SHIELD agents and beat cops. Some of the locals looked perplexed at the sight, jaws agape. “I told ya she wann’t lying, ya dumbass.” was overheard from one of the bystanders speaking to his friend, before they were rushed off by the SHIELD Agents. Word got around through the ranks, after all.
“Oh, an’ welcome ta East New York, while we’re here.” Alice said, in a slightly sarcastic manner gesturing to the area around them.
It was a huge relief that Alice seemed to be okay and his world seemed to finally be back in order with that revelation. She was fine, Darcy was fine; the city itself was looking more like a pile of rubble than normal, but the people he cared about seemed to be doing quite okay, and that was a relief. Of course, she didn't seem too keen on the whole 'getting out of Brooklyn' thing; short- or long-term. Tony would have to fix that somehow, he was sure.
"There's bad parts of everything," he replied to her, "And you're going to have to move closer to Stark HQ when you start working there anyway, so why not just do it now?" How this hadn't occurred to her before, he wasn't sure, but he was informing her now, so at least she would know for the future.
He sighed and glanced around as she insisted that she wanted to stay and help. That was all well and good - and he supposed that it made sense that the child of a superhero would feel that way - but Tony knew that they were running on borrowed time here. The aliens would be back, and he wanted Alice somewhere that he knew she'd be protected for that. He'd have only himself to blame if she got hurt.
Tony took a break from his death-grip on Alice's shoulders to notice that a crowd was beginning to gather, dropping his hands to paste on his public smile and wave to them. Alice gave him a belated welcome at his side and he snorted a bit. "It's not like I've never been here before. We have a factory over by Coney Island," he replied to her before turning to speak to the people directly. "Hey, guys. Due to structural damage, we're trying to evacuate people in parts of the city that got hit worse to outside until everything gets stable again," and also because there was likely another wave coming, "So if you could follow the nice SHIELD people to a temporary shelter outside the city limits, that would be great."
Turning back to Alice, he frowned at her. "Let's go get your stuff," he said to her, much quieter, "I'm taking you to the bunker under Stark Tower for now. There's likely another alien attack on its way and I need you to be safe, okay? Please? We can talk about everything else later."

Tony was right; It hadn’t occurred to her that she was going to work at Stark HQ, and she looked confused before everything clicked into place. Creating super science and being social weren’t in her skillset, but understanding people was easier for her to do than most. Tony was tougher to read than she initially thought but she thought she had a good enough grasp on the situation to understand where he might be coming from.
“What.” Alice said, as it was more of a statement than a question. Sure, there was an imminent alien invasion in front of them but how could he-? She was starting to definitely see why he infuriated other people. “You can’t jus’ make decisions fer other people, Tony.” Alice said, using the voice she used to use when she had to coax her mother to sleep off the drugs or to not go completely nuts when she was high as a kite. Plus there was the whole nepotism business there, and Alice hated that sort of thing. Sure, would Stark Inc. be an awesome place to work? She would bet.
But she wouldn’t have earned it. It was like just an easy pass and then of course, he wouldn’t fire her, so where was the motivation to do any of the work? At least, that was how she saw it. Tony sighed and noticed the gathering crowd, letting go of her upper arms at the moment, which she was thankful for, since his grip had started to become slightly uncomfortable. Tony turned toward the crowd, instantly turning on his ‘people’ pleasing charm.
“Nah, ya haven’t been in dis part o’ Brooklyn, I imagine.” Alice said; it's not like it was unknown that this section and Brownsville were basically unruly neighborhoods. Coney Island was in the nicer places of Brooklyn, after all. Here, not so much. Then he turned back around to face the crowd. The people simply stared back and then sighed, chatter erupting between the groups as SHIELD agents tried to hustle people out of the area, and as usual, it was a tad difficult because some people had pets or items they didn’t want to leave behind. Alice could feel the glare of some of her neighbors as they hustled about.
What did they want her to do about it, exactly, she wondered. Take it back? Somehow it was her fault who she was related to? She just glared back at them, before Tony turned back around as the National Guard and SHIELD worked on area clearing. “I toldja, I ain’t made o’ glass.” Alice muttered, unhappy with that decision. She could see his point, if not emotionally, than logically. She was a lot squishier than most of the people fighting out there, not to mention she didn’t have any fancy armor or weapons.
“Why not now?” Alice asked. “Look, I get yer point, I do, but I can’t jus’ sit in a bunker.” Alice said. Just….she just couldn’t do it. She hated sitting like that, waiting for the world to end. It went against her nature. Plus, oh no. Nope. She wasn’t going underground if she could help it.
“Couldn’t ya at least lemme, I dunno, help in a hospital or somethin’?” Sure, she didn’t have a good bedside manner, but hey, it couldn’t be that bad, right? She hadn’t worked as a Candy striper but she could at least….do something. She neglected to answer his question, though. She was sure the minute she did tell him she wouldn’t have a say in anything. Or rather, she’d have a say alright, but it probably wouldn’t change his mind. She waited to see what he had to say.

He blinked a little at her response to the inevitable fact of working at Stark. Wasn't that what anyone in her position would want? It was one of the biggest companies in the world, making some of the greatest innovations. Anyone with their fingers in tech wanted to work there. "I just... I figured that you'd want to work there. It's my company, and you're my daughter, so it's part yours, too. Don't you want to be involved?" It didn't make any sense to him that she wouldn't. And she had talent, from what he'd seen so far. Maybe not as much as he'd had at her age, but he'd also had years and years of time in which he'd been able to do nothing but fiddle with electronics. She hadn't.
And it was only partly because she was his daughter. She was bright. Sure, she'd had an atypical learning experience, but so did a lot of Stark employees. The ability to think out of the box was something that he valued, and something that many learning institutions wound up discouraging. Tony didn't look for education level; he looked for passion. Alice was someone that he'd be interested in at least looking at for a position even were she not related to him. The daughter thing simply made it a no-brainer.
He shrugged a little at the comment that he hadn't been to this part of Brooklyn, as it wasn't exactly a lie. But he'd been to war-torn cities and towns and he'd been held captive in a terrorist camp. He was pretty sure that little ol' Brooklyn couldn't scare him too badly - though he still didn't want her living there. At least not in this part of it.
"Alice, I don't want you in danger," he replied, more of a plea than a plain statement. He didn't want her to be in danger - especially not when he could easily get her out of it. Now that she was in his life, he didn't want to lose her. She was possible the only chance he'd ever have at this fatherhood thing and if he screwed it up by getting her killed he wasn't sure that he could forgive himself.
Tony sighed a bit as Alice continued to press about not just hiding. "I don't think that's a good idea. They're overrun and some of the buildings are barely stable..." he replied to her question, "I don't want you to be somewhere that might get pulled into the fighting again." He wanted her to be safe and healthy and whole and he didn't want to have to worry about her during the follow-up attack.
He sighed again, knowing that he was likely to only recieve stubbornness back from her. "I can maybe - maybe - let you help in one of the SHIELD medical stations," he allowed, "But first we still need to get you out of here and get your stuff somewhere safe."

Crud. Why was she so bad at this? She could get a read on people pretty quickly, but it seemed like her reactions were always wrong. She hadn’t really explained why though. “I do wanna work dere...but only if I’m da best person fer da job. Not ‘cause yer my...dad.” Alice said, feeling even more self-conscious than before. Talking about her feelings was stupid and she didn’t like doing it. Of course, her logical voice told her that if she didn’t, the same problems would just keep happening. She looked away from him at that, appearing to be embarrassed from admitting such a thing.
“I jus’....I don’ like not doin’ anythin’.” Alice said. She had to do something. Or else everything else went to pieces and then she’d get a craving for something to keep her calm. She’d avoided lots of things her entire life, and there wasn’t a chance of drinking or drugs ever happening. Cigarettes and caffeine, though, had gotten to her. She didn’t smoke all that often, as it was mostly a social thing. When she was nervous or just needed calm her nerves down, that’s when she got the nicotine.
She really, really didn’t want to do that, though, and now there was more pleading, despite the fact that he could just pick her up in the Iron Man suit and pretty much put her in a bunker, despite all of her yelling. So there was that, but it looked like neither of them were going to budge on this stance. “Danger? I laugh in the face of Danger.” Okay, probably not a good line, but stressful situations also tended to bring out her sarcasm and humor even more so than before.
“Dat sounds pretty normal to me..” Alice mentioned, considering. He again made his case for her to stay somewhere safe. Which again, she knew was a good thing but again it came back to how much she would like to not be stuck in her own head, just having things gnaw at her until the dust had cleared. He finally gave into her bullheaded stance, just as two SHIELD agents came up. “Oh. Mr. Stark….and Miss Stark.” The SHIELD Agent addressing them said.“We’re happy to assist you.” He said. Getting on Tony’s good side was always a decent thing in SHIELD’s eyes.
“You need things moved out of your apartment?” The agent asked, looking surprised and over at Alice. Fineeeee, he’d at least tried to meet her halfway, the least she could do would be to let him move her stuff. “Yeah. Computer, Games, da consoles if ya can get ‘em, memory cards if ya can’t.” Alice said, listing essentials. “Oh, I have a cat, Jinx. Uh….she’s really smart and sneaky, but you can probably catch her.” Yeah, Jinx was gonna be a problem. She was sure they could figure it all out. The furniture wasn’t really that important either. Just her games, the Amiibo, Her cat, books, etc. All that sort of stuff. She gave the SHIELD Agents her address, wondering how exactly Tony was planning on taking her out of here before someone else unpleasant showed up.
A cop. Ugh pigs. She meant cops. Good thing Tony wasn’t a mind reader. She supposed there were good ones, but all she’d ever seen or met were crooked cops, at least in her sector of town. “Anything I can do for you all? We’ve got the perimeter secure.” She knew Ricardo was never that nice, but then this was Tony Stark. You didn’t mouth off at Tony Stark. She almost grinned when he seemed annoyed that she’d turned out to be a Stark, but it was just a split second glance.
“So….Limo? Bentley?” Alice asked, wondering how he was planning to get her out of there.
Tony Stark Tony u don't even know. She's so much nicer to you than other people.
Notes: he's much nicer to her than other people too for the most part, haha. Tagged:Alice Moore-Stark
A frown made its way onto his face at Alice's reply before he smiled gently at her. "Hey. I promise that it's not just because you're my kid," he replied, "You're smart. You think out of the box. You have valuable experience and you'll come at projects from a different angle than kids I hire straight out of MIT and the like. I need people like that in my company; if we don't have fresh ideas, we're dead in the water. So yeah, I want you there 'cause you're my kid, but if you weren't? I'd still want to hire you." He wasn't sure how much at face value she'd take the words, but they were the truth.
There was a rueful smile at her reply. Of course she hated not doing anything when she saw there was something she could do. She was a Stark. She apparently took after him far more than he'd originally thought. God, he'd missed so much in not meeting her until later in life. She was... she was incredible. He wanted to let her know that. He wanted to protect her. He wanted to make up for all the time that he'd missed. But at the same time... she was her own person. He needed to know when to step back. They'd just met, really, and he needed to give her room to breathe when that was what she needed.
"Lion King quotes? Really?" he huffed in response, "And I know that it sucks not being able to help, but you gotta help yourself before you can help others, okay? I promise I won't stop you from helping with clean-up. But while there's still a line of fire, I'd rather you be safe. That's my priority. As a Father." And boy did he never think he'd say something like that in his life. It felt... nice. Good. Excellent, even. The words filled him with a sense of accomplishment; that he could be a Father, even after the disaster that was his life.
Tony was slightly relieved as the SHIELD Agents came over - which was something he never would have thought he'd say in a million years. He nodded as she gave instructions. "No furniture. Anything tech, anything book, anything personal. As much as you can. And I guess the cat. Just have everything delivered to Stark Tower. We'll keep it in a ground floor conference room until she decides where she's staying," he agreed. They'd have the place squeaky clean, he was pretty sure. It would put him at ease having her closer and safer after all this was over.
"We're fine. SHIELD's handling it," he grumped at the cop as he butted his nose in, "Just go do your job." Honestly. The SHIELDys had just left. Clearly Tony was done with needing things. With that he tugged Alice with him back towards where the suit was standing in sentry mode. He gave her a smirk. "A car? No. You're flying with Iron Man," he replied, "It's quicker. Most of the roads are blocked at this point. We'll be at the tower before you know it."

Alice looked at him for a bit. She was prone to not trusting people off the bat, least of which on how they appeared. As much as the media liked to portray scary things as monsters, another good deal of it pointed out that the scariest monsters of all almost never had the scariest faces. She would go with her gut feeling on this one; she didn’t think he was lying, and as long as he wasn’t, she could give a rat’s ass what anyone else would think it looked like. “...Alright. I guess I can give a shot. But only because I’m nice and a team player.” She said, with a slight smirk. Neither of these things were true, but she had to default to humor to keep herself sane.
It helped that this was now her general reaction to things going crazy. But, well, they lived in a world full of superheroes, no wonder things went nuts all the time. Heck, apparently even back in World War Two, things were crazy enough to lead to Steve’s super soldier serum happening and the whole HYDRA stuff. One wondered why the Nazi regime and Stalin hadn’t been enough evil in the world.
“What’d ya expect?” Alice said. Tony wasn’t someone she could do the ‘Danger Zone’ skit from Archer with. If only because she didn’t think he watched Archer. Felicia would get it. Possibly Spiderman. “It’s pop culture. I’m fulla dose references.” Alice said in response to that. She didn’t really want to mention that it was for more selfish reasons she wanted to do something, anything to help out, rather than out of the goodness of her heart. It was also….weird to hear that. All the examples of ‘fathers’ or even fatherly figures that had been somewhat present in her life had been less than pleasant, in the case of Dustin, or a downright garbage person, like Arturo.
Or all the people who showed up on Jerry Springer. It was a strange feeling to be thought of as a priority for someone else. It was...nice, even with her cynicism reminding her that nothing like this lasted and that there was only one person she could count on in this world outside of herself. But that wasn’t correct anymore. There were more, but there was still that underlying current that it was not going to be permanent. That they’d behave like everyone else once they got what they wanted.
Barney had proven that truth, after all. She’d been foolish to believe that he wouldn’t have just left. That’s how the criminal world like theirs worked; everyone worked together until it wasn’t beneficial for them anymore. So of course he’d just up and left, what else was there to expect? It had been stupid to expect anything more than that.
“But I like my furniture.” Alice said, though she was once again not serious. Mostly she cared about her games and game data. Sure, you could replace those as well, but you could replace special event stuff, a lot of which she had. The SHIELD agents seemed a little bit surprised, and Alice suspected that at least two of them didn’t want to do this, but their senior officer clearly didn’t care. SHIELD wanted to get on Stark’s good side after all. They nodded and moved off.
Ricardo didn’t like being dismissed as easily as he was, but there was nothing he could do. “Of course.” He replied with the fake polite tone that Alice was used to. She was sure that this wouldn’t be the end of this, but for now things were tabled. But then Tony didn’t need to know all about what was going on with that. She found herself being tugged in a certain direction toward the Iron Man suit.
Tony smirked as she asked her question about the car and then answered it with…..oh no. “Quicker maybe. Is it safer, dough? I mean, ya won’ drop me or nothin’, right?” Asking the important questions here. Tony wasn’t going to drop her. Intentionally anyway, and she really didn’t need a phobia of heights or flying in the first place. But also this would be really cool. She hadn’t done the flying thing yet, and that would be amazing seeing the world that way.
Still, she suspected a Quinjet would be a little bit safer. But she was about ninety percent sure she wasn’t going to be able to request that option to happen. So she waited to see how this was gonna go.
Grinning widely as she finally agreed to his job offer, he couldn't really help the slight burst of pride as well. Having her around to learn the ropes would be an exciting change of pace, all things considered. And the idea of leaving something more than a company and a bunch of weapons was certainly a bolstering one. He really kinda needed that, too, since there seemed to be so much lately that he hadn't been doing all that great at. Not on a professional level, but on the personal level. Relationships being slightly broken all around him didn't give him the best confidence boost when it came to his legacy. "Excellent. It'll be good to have you on the team," he told her, squeezing her shoulder lightly.
"I expect Lion King references from Barton. You, I expect to be slightly more cultured," Tony replied with a scoff, though it was in jest. Finally, his seriousness regarding the situation seemed to sink in with Alice and she managed to agree to come with him. It was like a weight off his shoulders to know that he was going to be able to move her somewhere safe before things got bad again. He'd only just started getting to know her and losing her so soon would devastate him in a way that he wasn't sure he could recover from. He already had enough problems.
Tony lifted an eyebrow at the joking protest, but didn't bother to answer it, instead keeping an eye on the SHIELD agents as they shuffled off toward her apartment. It would be interesting to get to look through some of the stuff she busied herself with, once it was at the tower. He was interested in knowing what it was, exactly, that she did with her time when she wasn't around him or otherwise imminently trackable.
"Safer, probably not, but it is safe," Tony replied, "I carry Barton with the suit all the time. If he can survive it, so can you." Not to mention Darcy, earlier in the day. But Alice didn't really need to know about that yet. There was a rule about when to introduce significant others to your kids, right? Was it different when the child was older and the girlfriend wasn't too much older than them? He'd think about it later. Maybe research it. At the moment it wasn't the important thing, though.
Stepping towards the suit, he carefully got inside, making sure all the systems were running correctly before motioning Alice over. The easiest way to carry people was what was commonly referred to as bridal style, so he carefully lifted her up in both arms. "Comfy?"

Alice only nodded in reply. She’d agreed, but she was a little bit hesitant on doing this. Then again her initial plan had been to make a lot of dough and set up in a cushy life, so why wasn’t she happier? She didn’t understand that. She knew she wasn’t happy about the whole not doing it herself thing, but what did she have to prove to anyone? Considering that this was during an alien invasion, now was not the time to be introspective.
Later. She was also getting more okay with the physical affection stuff, but she didn’t think she’d ever be big on it. “Yer killin’ me, Smalls.” Alice joked back. “Besides, most people are more cultured dan Hawkeye.” Alice added, still not having forgiven him for the fiasco with Barney. Also it seemed like making fun of Hawkeye was an Avengers prerequisite to join.
Well, shoot. If that was the case, she couldn’t exactly be a chicken about it. She would also have to figure out how to bring up how it was not at all cool to be finding her position the way she assumed he was. Again, perhaps something to be discussed after the imminent alien invasion was over and done with. Because it was really not exactly the best way to get in touch with her and she’d meant to do it after the meeting with Barney had gone sour really fast.
Tony led them over to the suit, and it was actually kind of neat to see how it worked. Usually the suits seemed to be able to remotely form around him. This time it just seemed to open up and he got inside, and for a minute or two, seemed to stand there, probably running diagnostic scans of things or what not. Man it would be really interesting to see how it worked. Like there was a computer interface built in there, but how did he engineer and then build it? Most people knew the basic story of how the Iron Man suit came to be but it was just so unbelievable.
Which was another facet in her initially not wanting to work for Stark Inc.; the family had a reputation for being geniuses; ridiculously smart people. She knew she was intelligent, more so than most people. More than apparently even many of the people she’d met throughout her life, but a genius? She couldn’t sit there and speed read books about science and somehow understand it. It was a lot of pressure to try and live up to that, and Alice would admit, to herself in her head, that she was a little worried and wary about the outcome of her proving to not be a genius.
Tony motioned her over and then it seemed like it happened so fast, he’d picked her up in the most comfortable position to carry someone in. She supposed if they had super strength or if it was a quick drop off, gripping a person by the arms would work as well. But this was much better for her. “Er, as I’ll eva be, I imagine.” Alice answered, feeling just a little bit embarrassed by all the attention this was drawing. Also the metal suit wasn’t that comfortable and then…they were flying.
Tony really did hope that his little girl would grow to love working at the company with him and learning about the things that she would inherit from him, but for the moment the plain agreement was enough. He wouldn't make a big deal out of it, seeing as there was the whole alien invasion thing to work out still. Right. He needed to get her to safety. "That's true. Which is why you need to step up your references, sweet potato," he pointed out. He didn't want to be embarrassed by his daughter's references. That would just suck.
There was very little that Tony knew about teenage girls. Or in this case just young adult women. He knew next to nothing about them and even less about interactions, so he always felt like he was a half second from doing something incredibly wrong and fucking things up. He just wanted her to understand how happy he was to have her in his life. And one of the ways that he knew to do that was to bring her into his world and just share it with her. He was so glad to have someone to share these things with. He just was.
He shook those thoughts from his head as he held her against him before lifting off into the air, making sure the SHIELD Agents would be following with her stuff soon as he took off. It didn't take too long to get to the tower, and he landed on the helipad and put Alice down before getting out of the suit. He needed to switch anyway. "So, you wanna hang out in the basement or just the lower floors? With how many skyscrapers got knocked out last time, I'm thinking lower is better." He ushered her into the building proper and towards the elevator. "You can use the entertainment systems or something. Then after everything is over, you can help with clean up and medics. I'd just... rather you stay out of the fighting while it's active." She could still be useful after the fact, right?
He paused once they were in the elevator, setting his hands on her shoulders and doing his best to catch her eyes. "I love you, Alice. You're this wonderful, amazing thing and I can't lose you, okay? So just please stay safe. For me?"

Alice was a bit confused by his endearing term “Sweet Potato?” She asked, sounding amused and judgemental. “An’ I’m a queen o’ Pop culture references.” Alice added. Please, she didn’t need to step up her game. If she did, then only Felicia would ever get any of the references she made. Then they were flying and….wow. Wow! She was flying! This was pretty incredible. Amazing. The wind was a problem, smacking her pretty hard in the face and sending her hair every which way, which obscured her vision a lot, especially because with as awkwardly as he had to carry her, she couldn’t just lean out and look about.
Next time, ponytail would be a must. If there ever was a next time, and then the other curious thing about how it would be different if say….someone like that Angel guy or Namor or...other people who could fly took her flying. How different would it be from the suit? She knew that none of them could go super high, not with a passenger. And jesus it was cold up here, even at this height.
Normal humans kind of needed oxygen to live, and past a certain point there wasn’t enough of it in the atmosphere without something like Tony’s suit for them to survive. That was kind of important to her, for a very obvious reason. Sadly, soon enough they were there, and she was having to walk and move stray hairs away from her face. ‘Wind-tossed’ as a style her ass, this was annoying.
Tony was getting out of his suit at that point, which was good. Then he started talking a mile a minute again, it was tough to get a word in edgewise. “Maybe ya need ta take a breath.” Alice mentioned, finding herself half-walking, half pushed toward an elevator and she was ever so slightly resistant to this idea. As in, she really did not want to be shoved on the elevator but it ended up happening anyway.
Definitely not the time to bring this up; she could only hope the power stayed on just so she could get out of there as fast as possible. “I...don’t care?” Whatever got her out of the elevator the quickest. He seemed to be scatterbrained, mentioning the same thing again. Why was he so afraid of losing people? She knew it was a genuine thing, but to Tony it seemed more like...his sole concern at the moment.
And then words. Lots of words. Words she didn’t hear often, and nothing she’d ever heard from a father figure like…..ever. Even Barney hadn’t been so open and emotional and she still hoped wherever he was his life sucked. She shifted a bit, trying to look away. Emotional stuff was not her strong suit. Brushing things off with comments, that’s where her emotions stayed. She didn’t do mushy stuff. No one had called her amazing or wonderful before either. It was still odd to hear that sort of thing coming from other people.
Also part of it felt like it was way too soon. It didn’t help that ‘love’ was a relative term to her, not something she usually thought about too often. She liked certain people in the Avengers, sure. It was hard not to like Steve in the first place, and Carol was alright. Clint was annoying and she was pretty sure he was the only person she didn’t like. She still hadn’t met any of the others and so had no opinion on them. It was...difficult to say the same. She really wasn’t sure how to respond to something like that, and so only nodded in response.
