[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Marcus ‘Marc’ Spector ALIAS: Moon Knight; Mr. Knight; Jake Lockley; Steven Grant AGE: 43 OCCUPATION: Millionaire, 'Freak Beat' consultant, Avatar of Khonshu MEMBER GROUP: Superhumans POWERS AND ABILITIES: ABILITIES: -Hand-to-Hand Combat: Marc’s experience as a heavyweight boxer has largely informed his current, quite unique fighting style. Preferring to get in close and deliver devastating blows where his enemy can’t dodge them, Marc would rather take a punch than dodge or block it. He was trained in Krav Maga in the Marine Corps, and learned not to be shy of fighting dirty as a mercenary. -Weapon Specialist: Marc has grown proficient with a variety of weapons in his long career; he is trained in basic handgun and rifle combat, but has grown incredibly proficient with the odd weapons he employs mostly when in costume as Moon Knight. These weapons include, but are not limited to: A truncheon that comes equipped with a grapnel launcher, crescent moon-shaped throwing blades, and a collection of bizarre Egyptian equipment geared towards beating up ghosts. Can you say, Mummy-Bone Knuckledusters? -Tactician: Marc is an incredibly efficient combat tactician, provided he’s given a layout of the combat arena. He rarely implements these skills in his personal fights, but given the chance Marc can come up with some pretty impressive tactical maneuvers. -Olympic-Level Athlete: Marc has the body of a boxer and the endurance of a long-distance runner during the day. He may be a bit shorter than you’d expect, but he’s in amazing shape. -Art of Deception: Marc is proficient in the art of disguise and has a selection of disguises that he may break out if he can be convinced that stealth infiltration is absolutely necessary. POWERS: What kind of world would we live in if dying at the foot of an Egyptian god’s obelisk didn’t come with a few perks? As Khonshu’s (Supposedly) Living Avatar in the mortal world, the rise of the moon brings Marc a couple of benefits that befit his status as Guardian of all those who travel at night. - Enhanced Physique: The primary, and most noticeable, effect of Marc’s lunar power is his physical boosts. At night, Marc’s speed, strength, and durability gain a noticeable boost. He’s no Captain America, but he can lift just shy of one ton without straining, run at nearly 45 miles per hour, and clear 8 feet from a standing jump. Marc's reflexes receive a noticeable boost, too; able to, under the right circumstances, deflect or dodge bullets. Most obviously, Marc’s density is given a substantial buff. Most blunt force trauma injuries are merely skin-deep, and small arms fire is much less life- threatening. - Enhanced Regeneration: At night, Marc’s ability to heal from injuries is double the peak norm for a human being. Bruises, lacerations, and dislocations recover within minutes. Fractures within hours. Broken bones recover in days, if Marc lets them heal (Spoiler: He won’t). - Enhanced Senses: Although Marc’s vision, surprisingly enough, receives only a small boost, his senses of hearing, smell, touch, and taste are all greatly improved in the dark. This ability manifests not only at night, but whenever Marc finds himself in incredibly dark environments. - Gaze of Khonshu: At night, Marc is privy to the intentions of those around him. Although he cannot read minds, Marc’s spectral (No pun intended) sense of unrest can make him aware of individuals with ill will in the broadest sense. - Avatar of Night: When wearing the ancient Egyptian vestments that make up Moon Knight’s anti-magic combat gear, Marc’s abilities are boosted still further. - Insomniac: Not the most healthy ability, but Marc can go for incredibly long periods of time without sleep, up to 5 days without showing signs of fatigue. PLAYBY: Gunner Wright OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Jazzy, Jazz, or JazzyRagdoll AGE: 21! GENDER: Male TIMEZONE: PST- I live in Cali, but I am variously very busy or completely free, so I’ll either be around full-time or not much at all depending on my workload. OTHER CHARACTERS: None [/PTab] [PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONAE & TOOLS OF THE TRADE: Mr. Knight- The Pathfinder: Marc’s Mr. Knight persona is characterized by the all-white three-piece suit he wears, complete with matching white mask. Mr. Knight is a skilled detective with an eye for details and connecting the dots. Though not necessarily as heavily armed as Marc’s other personae, Mr. Knight is tactful and well-spoken, which is probably why Mr. Knight is the most commonly seen persona. Mr. Knight uses a small collection of crescent throwing blades and his truncheon. Moon Knight- The Watcher: Marc’s Moon Knight persona is characterized by an armored suit with a cape & hood that affords Marc more offensive & defensive options. His crescent-shaped cape allows him to glide short distances, and his armor plating is bulletproof and can take surprising amounts of punishment. Marc’s heavier-armed personae Avatar of Night- The Defender: Marc’s Avatar of Night persona is characterized by a bizarre collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, infused with power by Khonshu. Although more geared towards beating up vampires or ghosts than normal people, this striking persona comes equipped with a selection of bone-themed weapons. PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: - Boxing: Although he rarely practices in public anymore, Marc enjoys watching boxing and remembering his roots. - Halloween: Cliché? Absolutely. But some primal part of Marc gets excited when Halloween rolls around. - Solitude: Marc’s condition makes every second he spends with nobody looking over his shoulder not only a kindness, but a godsend. If he can get five minutes to himself in a day it significantly improves his disposition. - Noise: That said, if Marc can’t be alone, he likes to be someplace crowded and noisy, where he can lose himself in volume. - Wine: A holdout from his Steven Grant days. Marc never quite lost his appreciation for fine wine. - Hot Dogs: A holdout from his Jake Lockley days. Nothing so satisfying as a street-grilled hot dog smothered in relish and ketchup. - Occultism, Hermeticism, Demonology: Originally just study material, Marc wound up really enjoying a lot of subjects that would twist his dad’s yarmulke. - Transparency: Marc detests smoke and mirrors. He likes things to be straightforward and to the point, and a history of being used has made him wary of people who try to put too many twists and turns in their motivations. - Fighting: In a savage sort of way, Marc loves to fight. He’s always been a little violent, but even now that he’s a bit calmer he enjoys kicking the snot out of people. - Swing Music: Marc’s father often played swing music after synagogue, and the 1990’s Swing revival reignited Marc’s love for the music. DISLIKES: - Power: Marc feels as though he works best as an arm, not a brain. He’ll take charge in a situation should the situation require it, but he despises being given any real form of power or control. This extends to those IN power, as well; Marc is slow to trust anybody with an agenda and the means to carry it out. - Bright Lights: Marc is rarely seen outside during the day without some sort of eye protection. His eyes are very light-sensitive, and he hates bright lights of any kind. - Pretenders: They’re everywhere. Maybe a part of his connection to Khonshu, or perhaps his DID; Marc sees himself as a pure totem. If he deems someone isn’t similar (And how he figures out who is or isn’t a ‘pure totem’ is nebulous, at best) it can affect how quickly he warms up to them- or how hard the beatdown he gives them will be. - Gaslighting: Marc’s grasp on his own sanity and reality is already tenuous at best. One way to really hurt Marc and get yourself high on his List is to try and manipulate his mental state or gaslight him. Especially if he only finds out after the fact. - Ghosts: Marc HATES ghosts. He just hates them. Anything that even REMINDS him of a ghost, or that ghosts exist, will ratchet his chill level from ‘mild salt’ up to ‘Real Spice’ awful fast. - Organized Religion: Coming from a Jewish family and as the son of a Rabbi has affected his outlook on religion. Also, the fact that he works an ancient, supposedly nonexistent God of the Moon. - Manipulation: Marc doesn’t appreciate people who try to manipulate him or others. He hates being lead on, and when somebody isn’t being honest about their motives or methods, it throws up red flags for Marc. - Khonshu: Khonshu is a manipulative, gaslighting, magically-powered 'God of the Moon' who usually appears to Marc as a cobweb-covered ghost with a bird skull for a head. You do the math. - Skating: Once fell and cracked his head while roller-skating. Now despises skating in all its forms. - Prejudice: Marc got a lot of it as the son of a Rabbi in Chicago, and he’s had enough. Racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of hatred irritate him. He’s not perfect, but he’s got a surprisingly ‘woke’ view of social politics. - People who Mess with Kids: Children are a bit of a soft spot for Marc. Don't mess with them. - Rapists: Rapists, for reasons Marc usually refuses to elaborate on, seem to really piss him off. Don't be one of these around him or risk your genital integrity. STRENGTHS: - Willpower: Marc is an incredibly resilient individual. Depending on what information you can dig up on the Moon Knight, Marc has died anywhere between one and three times. He is incredibly difficult to kill, and will tell you how boring being dead was himself. Whether this is because he really is the Avatar of Khonshu, or just because he’s a stubborn son of a bitch, is up to interpretation. Either way, Marc is strong-willed beyond all assumption. - Mental Instability: This is both a strength and a weakness for Marc. Diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder, his fractured mental state and collection of different personae make Marc resilient to psychic attack, and make him more open to Khonshu’s ‘visitations’. - Khonshu’s Avatar: Marc’s Dissociative Identity Disorder manifests as each of the four mythological Aspects of Khonshu: The Defender, The Pathfinder, The Embracer, and The Watcher. Each Aspect has its own variation on Marc’s base personality, which can help Marc in various situations. Additionally, Marc very rarely receives prophetic ‘visions’ from Khonshu, although these may be unreliable or downright nonsensical. - Recklessness: Marc is the one you see coming. He is absolutely unafraid of charging straight into a conflict, risking life, limb, and highly expensive technology to get the job done. He will keep coming even at extreme personal risk if he’s allowed, and his gaudy white costumes all accentuate this with an ethereal flourish. - Rich Bitch: Marc’s days as a mercenary and the wealth of Egyptian artifacts and museum exhibits he’s accrued over his career have left him with plenty of disposable income. His expenditures include a ridiculously indulgent crescent moon-shaped drone/glider with voice control and a Stealth Mode, and a white automated limousine with about a dozen hidden weapons. And a full bar. - Lingual: Marc is fluent in a small collection of languages from Asia, Europe, and northern Africa. - Loyal: Despite his misanthropic demeanor, Marc is great at team play and very loyal to those who somehow manage to gain his trust. Thank his time as a Marine. He will follow orders if he is given a leader he believes in, and he doesn’t leave team members behind. How much he’ll off-put those team members along the way, well. That’s a different story. - Tough Call Maker: Marc has had his hands dirty before. He prefers not to kill, but he will not hesitate to end a life if the situation absolutely requires it, and he will do what needs to be done without a second thought. Marc is cold because someone has to be. He accepts this, even if it means nobody will like him. - Street Smart: Marc grew up on the streets, pretty much. He’s very savvy and street-wise, and since being resurrected he takes this to a preternatural level. WEAKNESSES: - Mental Instability: This is both a strength and a weakness for Marc. His fractured mental state and collection of different personae makes him hard to connect with and unstable, and although it’s hardly his fault, the fact remains that Marc hasn’t gotten any kind of real help for his conditions. Sometimes Marc freezes at inopportune times as he argues with himself over the best course of action. - Khonshu’s Avatar: Marc’s connection to Khonshu leaves him vulnerable to Khonshu’s manipulations, as well as the strange things that this implies. Marc is susceptible and sensitive to magical energies, and Khonshu rarely makes himself visible to other people- which can put Marc in a bit of an awkward situation if the ghostly ‘god’ is nagging him and he responds with other people around. - Reckless: Marc’s fighting style, although effective, is risky. He takes a lot of blows he might not necessarily need to take, and allows himself or his belongings to be damaged without a second thought. The result is that Marc often walks away from a losing fight considerably more worse for wear than one of his contemporaries might. Additionally, Marc likes to be straightforward. Stealth rarely figures into his playbook in favor of a more direct approach, which isn’t always helpful. - Wasteful: Marc has a lot of money, and he has had a lot of money for long enough to get used to it. It’s all very well metered out and stashed away, and all he has to do to make more is sell off some of his museum pieces. As a result he’s very free with his expenditures; this is a holdout from Steven Grant. - Book Dumb: Marc may be rich, but he’s no Tony Stark. There isn’t much of his arsenal that he knows how to fix himself, and he’s not technically savvy beyond some basics he may have picked up in the military, or as a mercenary. He didn’t go to college, and although he’s very sophisticated he doesn’t have a lot of higher-learning knowledge. It also means buying new stuff whenever he breaks his toys- which is often. - Unsettling: Marc’s just kind of a creepy guy. Is it the way his skin and hair look just a little grey in the right light? Is it his tendency to stare at vacant corners of the room? Is it the way his eyes seem to be looking at you, but also through you? Hard to say. Whatever it is, there’s something unusual about him that can be off-putting to some people, and he doesn’t do anything about it. - Violent: Sometimes Marc gets himself into trouble due to how quick he is to injure in a fight. His reputation is not one of gentle touches. He does not pull punches. And although that can help in a fight, it can also seriously mess up a situation that requires a social touch over interrogation. - Wary: Marc doesn’t trust easy, and he doesn’t always take people at their word. He sometimes assumes people are lying to him based on seemingly- arbitrary qualifiers. This can make it hard to connect with him on a personal level, and doesn’t exactly foster feelings of camaraderie. - Only Human: Sort of, anyway. Marc’s skin isn’t made of stone, it isn’t infused with gamma radiation, and it wasn’t developed in highly pressurized undersea environments. He’s durable, but only to a point, especially during the day. Marc is still vulnerable to blood loss, poison and toxins, and being knocked unconscious (Provided you can hit him hard enough). GOALS: Marc’s goals are relatively simple: Protect All Travelers who Journey by Night: Khonshu, as the sovereign protector of all nighttime travelers, places his faith and his power in Marc to watch over and defend those who travel by the light of the moon. … And Carry Out Vengeance on Those who Threaten These Travelers: Marc strives to make the night safer. If he can’t do that, he’ll bring a mighty reckoning on those who would disturb his domain. Get Better: Marc doesn’t prioritize this goal very much, but he is still on the long crawl to mental health- even if his ties to Khonshu make a full recovery impossible. FEARS: Marc is virtually fearless, save one big caveat: Marc fears being unable to atone for all the horrible stuff he’s done. Marc returned to New York thirsty for redemption, and instead of letting it passively terrify him, he actively works to fight it every day. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Give at least two well rounded paragraphs about your characters overall personality. Marc is the one you see coming. Marcus Spector is severe. He is straightforward. He is a man with convictions, a man with a presence, and a man who likes to face problems head-on. The Moon Knight is dressed in white for a reason; Marc likes people to know that he’s coming for them, he likes to be seen, he loves to be engaged. He’s the kind of guy who makes eye contact when you talk to him, and when he speaks to you. Marc listens and thinks before he speaks, and when he speaks it’s usually brief and to the point. Cutting if it needs to be, solemn if it’s not. Unfortunately, Marc Spector isn’t always… Himself. Although he showed symptoms of it earlier on in his life, Marc’s return to life at the base of the statue of Khonshu seems to have come with a side-order of dissociative identity disorder, and some amount of brain damage. Marc has gone through a collection of multiple personalities in his lifetime, and it’s left an inextricable scar on his mind. Having your mind colonized by a being from outside of space-time tends to do that to a guy. Jake Lockley was a streetwise taxi driver in New York, a dry and sardonic busybody with a love of gossip and getting the inside scoop. Steven Grant was a millionaire socialite with a taste for the high life. Although these fragments of Marc’s personality have faded, each has left their stain on his mind. Lockley’s sardonic sense of humor and Grant’s poise and smugness occasionally poke through Marc’s controlled façade. These personalities, manifestations of the aspects of Khonshu, usually appear to Marc as phantoms, lurking just outside his field of vision, whispering suggestions and advice into his ear, affecting his mood, and sometimes overtaking him completely. After returning to New York, Marc seems to be somewhat more put together. The dregs of mental breakdown remain, but he holds himself together with scotch tape and a busy schedule, sometimes ready to shatter, other times just as strong as the day he KO’d his first boxing opponent. Marc makes no excuses for himself. When he screws up he owns it, and when he succeeds he doesn’t look for praise (Although he doesn’t turn it down when offered). Growing up in a Jewish household under a Rabbi taught Marc that when you do good things, it should be for the sake of doing good things- not so that your soul can go to some sort of paradise, or avoid some sort of torture. He rejects the concepts of heaven and hell out of hand, although he has trouble reconciling his views of religion with his benefactor. In addition, Marc is simultaneously starved for contact and desperate for solitude. He needs healthy social interaction and he knows it, but he refuses to seek it out. Too many of the people he’s been close to have died, left him, or worse, and Marc’s take on the typical ‘Push people away but yearn for closeness’ antihero angst comes flavored with a disturbing amount of cold, emotionless acceptance. Marc always wins because he has nobody he loves, nobody he’s close to, nobody he trusts, nobody to be used against him, nobody and nothing to lose. And that’s worked for him thus far. But he’s beginning to realize that it’s a new world out there, and he’s starting to question whether or not he can survive in it on his lonesome. HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: Chicago, ILL., United States of America RESIDENCE: Deserted mansion property in Long Island, just outside of New York City. FAMILY: Yitzak Topol- Yitzak Topol is an elderly Rabbi who, so far as Marc knows, is still alive in Chicago, Illinois. Rabbi Topol and Marc’s relationship, although complicated and at times strained, was extremely important to the young man who would be Moon Knight. Topol was incredibly supportive of his son in every endeavor, and instilled many important morals in the young boy. Despite this, Marc often fought with his father, and considers the old man better off without his son. AFFILIATIONS: Marc was affiliated with the United States Marine Corps and the CIA before he became a freelancing mercenary in Europe, Asia, and Africa. HISTORY: This is a story that starts five millennia ago. In the waxing days of the mighty Egyptian empire, a collection of powerful entities first appeared on the planet Earth from elsewhere in time and space, known as the Heliopolitans. Although these entities were powerful and extraplanar, they were not gods-- although this didn’t stop the ancient Egyptians from worshipping them as such. Amongst these ‘Gods’ was Khonshu, a powerful entity of the moon, a guardian over travelers at night, a deity of many aspects. In his time it was said that when Khonshu’s crescent moon shined, cattle became fertile, women had healthy babies, and the air was fresh to every nostril and throat. As time passed, Khonshu and the other Heliopolitans became more and more powerful. But it wouldn’t last; at the peak of their power, most of the Heliopolitans left our plane and returned to their own, the Celestial Heliopolis. Egypt crumbled. Khonshu, however, stayed behind, surrendering his body in order to retain his power. But Khonshu did not fade or die; he lived on, albeit as a specter of his former influence and might. Khonshu could do little without a corporeal form, and his power was confined to the idol-statue in his crumbling temple at Karnak. And thusly, he was forgotten. Jump forward around 4900 years. It’s a new world, with new technologies and new gods. Far from the sands of Egypt, in a country called Germany, a hateful war machine prepares for conflict. In his small town outside of Prague, a ten-year-old boy named Yitzak Topol saw the fires, felt the heat, and found himself pinned between an iron Russian spear and a steel German saber. In the late winter of 1938, with Jews in Europe vanishing or dying, the Topol family fled to America. From Chicago, Illinois, young Yitzak witnessed World War II from afar, and grew into a wise man, and a Rabbi. In 1968, Rabbi Topol’s wife gave her life to give birth to a son, Marcus Ariel Topol. Marc grew up in a one-parent household, often on his own, and often getting himself into trouble. Through high school Marc was a problem child, combative and outspoken and angry at a world that seemed cruel and unforgiving. When Marc left high school, he spent ten years as a boxer, trying to find direction and a cause. Although it was slow learning at first, Marc eventually became an incredibly skilled heavyweight boxer, a master of in-fighting and a terror in the ring. At the peak of his popularity as a boxer, he got into a nasty fight with his father that resulted in Marc punching the older man in the face. At twenty-eight, with his prospects of getting notoriety slim and his itch to travel starting to bother him more and more, Marc changed his name and joined the United States Marine Corps as Marc Spector, and never looked back. His military career proved to be more successful for him, as he was quickly noticed by the CIA and picked up to be a field agent. At the time, Marc was 33. Under the CIA’s guidance Marc did many terrible things in the name of the USA, and became disillusioned and materialistic. He spent barely two years serving the government and quit at age 35. With no college training, no morals, and his faith in humanity all but destroyed, Marc became a freelancing mercenary active in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. As a mercenary, Marc met and befriended Jean-Paul DuChamp, a French pilot known as ‘Frenchie’, and began working for the African mercenary Raoul Bushman. His journeys with Bushman and Frenchie would eventually lead him to Egypt, on a job defending an archeological dig staffed by Dr. Peter Alraune and his daughter Marlene. Working as a protector affected Marc’s moral compass, and for the first time in a decade, Marc realized that he’d seriously messed up. When Bushman killed Dr. Alraune, intent on raiding and looting the dig site, Marc stepped up to stop him. And, he paid for it. In the fight Marc was mortally wounded, left stranded in the freezing desert night. An Egyptian caravan found Marc dying in the sand and saved him, carrying him to the nearest building- an ancient Egyptian temple in Karnak, dedicated to a supposedly long-dead deity. Khonshu. God of the Moon, and Nighttime Travelers. Left at the base of Khonshu’s idol-statue, Marc’s heart stopped. Khonshu appeared to Marc with an offer: become Khonshu’s living Avatar on Earth and earn a second chance at life. Without much choice in the matter, and wanting revenge, Marc accepts. Wrapping himself in the silver shroud that adorned Khonshu’s statue, Marc returned to the dig site and fought Bushman again- and this time, it was no contest. After defeating Bushman, Marc returned to America with Marlene, Frenchie, the statue of Khonshu, all of Bushman’s money, and billions of dollars in priceless Egyptian artifacts- and the haunting presence of Khonshu inhabiting his body. In New York City, Marc saw the night with fresh eyes. Khonshu needed an avatar, and Marc needed redemption; and so, Moon Knight was born, a ghostly hero in a silver cape and cowl, an urban legend that most people refused to believe. He became romantically involved with Marlene, and Marc was inspired with a new mission. He finally had a cause he could get behind. Marc's newfound purpose and clarity of thought wouldn't last. Marc’s mental stability began to crumble. In need of some civilian identities, and desperate to distance himself from the terrible things he’d done in the past ten years, Marc developed two personalities; Jake Lockley, a taxi-cab driver in New York, and millionaire entrepeneur Steven Grant. These identities quickly became facets of Marc’s personality beyond simple aliases, straining his relationships with Frenchie and Marlene. Moon Knight came into conflict with the worst and weirdest the underworld had to offer. He gained civilian allies as Jake Lockley and connections as Steven Grant, and grew more and more distant from his friends as Marc Spector. At this point, it gets difficult to trace Marc’s actions as Moon Knight. His life became more hectic and disjointed. Marlene left him for her ex-husband, and Frenchie abandoned him at some point after Marc’s brutal methods alienated him. The Jake Lockley and Steven Grant personas were overtaken by the Moon Knight persona, and Marc became more and more savage. If you ask people who know things, they’ll tell you that the rumor goes that Moon Knight has killed a lot of people, and that a cruel mercenary known as the Bushman was found with his face cut off one night after a bloody fight in Los Angeles. But rumors, after all, are mostly unsubstantiated. Who’s to say what’s true and what’s not? What we do know for sure is that not so long ago, after falling off the map for a year, Marc Spector returned to New York City, in the aftermath of the Chitauri invasion. With Hell’s Kitchen in bad shape and the police scrambling for purchase and the city attempting to rebuild, Marc realized that he was going to be needed- and that this just might be his chance to finally get himself back on track and earn some peace of mind. Currently, Marc consults with the NYPD as Mr. Knight, presenting himself as a helping hand in an all-white suit and mask. The Moon Knight has returned to New York, too, sporting a new and cutting-edge suite of gadgets and technology, with a new look. And this time, he’s more than an urban legend. Did you think it would be that quick and easy to get rid of me? That I wouldn't notice when the world was thrown into flux? I've been waiting for an opportunity like this for thousands and thousands of years.
I wasn't just going to sleep on it.
Alright kids, let ol' Khonshu give you the lowdown on what's new and what's not. First and foremost, I am no longer 'dead'. No longer a pale phantom of my former self. I exist in both your mortal plane and the Othervoid in tandem. I was considered a god of time, after all- when the mortal plane went sideways I used the opportunity to give myself a sizeable shot in the arm. The only problem is, when that upstart runt En Sabah Nur rose to power he locked away my power within my idol-statue in my temple at Karnak, and I was sadly left about as useful as that time I sacrificed my physical form to remain on this plane. Remember that? Oh. No, you wouldn't. Never mind.
After almost five thousand years, with World War II brewing and Russian pogroms getting Jews all over Europe killed or sent away to death camps, a young Jewish man and his family flee to America. You know him by a different name. Here, he is Elias Spector, and his arrival in America is bumpy, at first.
Luckily, Elias found himself a home in Loewstown, originally a quarter of Chicago in the Province before the influx of Ashkenazi Jews fleeing persecution overseas built the area into a city of its own. He settled down as a Rabbi with a wife and had two children; the younger of the two, well, he's a story for another time. Marcus Ariel Spector is the boy of the hour.
You know the shpiel. Grade school saw a boy mad at the world and willing to get physical to keep himself, his brother, and his friends from being the butt of too many bad jokes. After high school he became an excellent boxer. At twenty-eight he got in a fight with his pop, left to join the military, and never looked back. Spent some time as a marine, spent some time in the CIA. Spent some time as a mercenary. The song is still the same.
When Marc found himself beaten nearly to death (And, in fact, dying) at the base of my idol-statue in Karnak, I knew this was the boy I had been waiting thousands of years for. Moon Knight was back on the scene (Technically, for the first time). But this time, we were proactive. Marc's mental state was never that good in this timeline- the boy was showing signs of psychosis when he was in high school- and his alternate identities were much more assertive. Steven Grant set up the Spector Foundation during his extended stay behind the wheel, and the Foundation has done much for building infrastructure, clean energy initiatives, fighting pollution, and he even debuted as a prominent movie director. Everything else... well, more or less the same.
It hasn't all been roses, of course. Many of the relationships Marc spent time building have vanished, and as far as he knows what few friends he's collected have forgotten all about him. The strain of having two different timelines fighting for dominance in Marc's head has caused his already-fragile mental state to shatter completely. Marc Spector, Moon Knight, Mr. Knight, and even the disparate personalities Marc fought so hard to tame are all whirling around in tandem.
Marc Spector and all of the identities associated with him have not been seen in almost two weeks- since right around the time the timelines fragmented, not that anybody would know as much. Who knows where Marc has gone? The severity of his mental break leaves a number of possibilities, and one thing's for sure... nobody is keen to go looking for the violent vigilante known as the Moon Knight.

HISTORY:
This is a story that starts f͜҉i̵͏ve͘ millennia ago.
In the ẁ͏a̡͡à͢x̴i̛ǹg̀͞ days of the mighty Kemet empire, a collection of powerful entities first appeared on the planet Earth from elsewhere in time and space, known as the Heliopolitans. The powerful extraplanar entities called a strange, unknowable dimension called the Othervoid home, and their ability to influence the very reality around them on the mortal plain moved the ancient Egyptians to worship them as gods.
Amongst these gods was Khonshu, a powerful entity of the moon, a guardian over travelers at night, a deity of many aspects. Kemet crumbled, left for En Sabah Nur to rebuild. Khonshu, however, stayed behind, surr̸e͢n͡d͝er̶̷i̕ǹg͡ h͟i̕s̛҉͟ b̵o͏͝d̡y̧ ͏̕i̶n̨͜ o͠ ͡҉or͘͡ ̸̡dér ̀҉tó̷
