[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Dorma ALIAS: Lady Dorma AGE: 95 OCCUPATION: Spy Master MEMBER GROUP: Super Human POWERS AND ABILITIES: Amphibian Abilities: These abilities allow Dorma to breathe both underwater and on land however the transition is slightly uncomfortable for her. Super Strength: Like most Atlanteans she has the equivalent of 10x the strength of humans topping off at a little less than four tons. Superhuman Speed: While she is faster than your average human she is considered only average amongst the Atlanteans. On land she tops off around 35 mph and in water just under 200 mph. Superhuman Stamina: This allows Dorma to swim for several hours and for long distances without getting overly tired. Superhuman Durability: Her people are made of stern stuff, they have to be in order to live in the high pressure parts of the ocean. This durability translates to other areas as well making her harder to injure though it is not impossible. Keen eyesight: Like all Atlanteans Dorma has sharp eyesight that allows her to see clearly in the dark waters of the ocean. Illusions: Dorma has a little bit of talent with magic. Illusions are where her strength lies. She can project simple illusions to people as long as they are not aware of the illusion and not trying to see past it. Scrying - the ability to view current events. Downsides is that scrying is draining and there is no sound. Energy Manipulation - Dorma has a minor form of energy manipulation. She can use it in controlled burst to do things like trip people up or send them flying into walls. She doesn’t have enough power to level a structure. PLAYBY: Anna Lutoskin OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Sara AGE:24 GENDER: it's nice to know TIMEZONE: GMT-6 OTHER CHARACTERS:Pepper. Dum Dum Dugan, Fandral [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: Games - Dorma finds that not only are they enjoyable but they provide a great outlet for her competitive streak and need to strategize. Intelligent Conversation - There is something to be said for being able to talk to someone who can follow along with what you are saying. That’s not to say that they necessarily agree (though that is rather nice) but occasionally they present a new view of looking at things that’s worth listening to. Her Coral Garden - Dorma has a tiny garden made up primarily of various Coral. It’s purely aesthetic but she can be found working in it when she’s stressed or needs to think things over. Music - Music was part of her education when she was growing up and Dorma quickly took to it. She is proficient at the pianoforte and a decent singer though they are usually reserved for the privacy of her quarters. Power - Dorma worked hard to get where she is today and she won’t let anything, or anyone, take that away from her. The world needs more women in power. DISLIKES: Surfacers -Individually she has met plenty of humans whose company she has enjoyed. It as a whole that they become a problem. As long as the surfacers are living comfortably they don’t care so much about taking care of the things around them - like the ocean. Bad manners - There’s no need to be crass or forget the simple necessities. Even when under pressure that’s no excuse to forget how to be polite. Quitters - If you agree to something Dorma expects you to see it to the end. She has no patience for anyone who signs up for something (be it a position or a task) only to later back out. Remaining Top Side - Dorma is okay with visiting the surface every now and then but when she has to remain there for long lengths of time she tends to get a touch irritable. Anyone who threatens those she loves - Dorma is fiercely protective of those she cares about. Anyone who threatens their safety will meet her ire. STRENGTHS: Able to lie - It’s not a skill many Atlanteans possess and one she uses sparingly. It’s an open secret in Atlantis that she’s one of the few who has the ability but Dorma has come to realize that no one will trust her if she relies too heavily on that particular skill. Charm - Dorma doesn’t forget a name, can easily strike up a conversation, and make people feel like they are the center of her attention at that very moment. Cool headed - When things start going horribly wrong she’s not one to panic. Instead she can calmly step in and do what needs to be done. Good listener - The best way to find out information is to listen to the people talking around you and occasionally prompt them to continue talking. You don’t pick up important information by talking everyone’s ear off. WEAKNESSES: Long time on the surface -The longer she is out of water the weaker all of her abilities become until she once again submerges herself. Cold reception - It takes Dorma a little bit to warm up to people. She enjoys meeting people but she’s not one to open up right away - she’s more likely to play her cards close to her chest. Holds a grudge -While she’s not the sort to explode with anger that doesn’t mean she forgets any indiscretions. Dorma is more than happy to sit on her anger until the time is right to make her move. Manipulation - On occasion Dorma has a habit of pushing people past their breaking point or simply encouraging their bad ideas just to see what would happen. GOALS: To see stricter limitations in place when it comes to their dealings and interactions with humans. To keep her people safe from threats that come from both the humans and the Lemurians. FEARS: Assuming the throne of Atlantis. While she would have no qualms being queen it would mean something had happened to both Namor and Aquaria. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Dorma likes people. She likes how if you give them a little suggestion here and give them a little push there and they’re doing things they hadn’t originally considered. Despite her love of people Dorma is not one to really open up to people. A big part of her job is to keep the many secrets of Atlantis - she wouldn’t be able to do that if she just spilled her guts to everyone. She is also very stubborn and set in her ways. If she has made her mind up about something it will take quite a bit of work to get her to change it. However it is not impossible. For example she had already made up her mind about Namor before they had even met and had been convinced she wasn’t going to like him. It took years before she finally decided that he was a decent man worth befriending. Dorma doesn’t have much of a temper. If angered she won’t just fly off the handles. That’s not to say she won’t make those who have wronged her pay, it just that she’ll lay in wait for as long as it takes for her revenge to be truly satisfying. Rushing into things head first without any pre-planning is just not her style. The handful of people to whom she is the closest to have received her utter loyalty. That’s not to say she’ll follow them blindly. If she thinks they are making a bad mistake she will gladly tell them so. Or on the rare occasion encourage them. HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: Atlantis RESIDENCE: Atlantis. She has a set of rooms at the palace. PARENTS: Father: Arnav (deceased circa 1942) | Mother: Kairi SIBLINGS: Only Child IMPORTANT RELATIVES: Namor (Fifth cousin) Aquaria (Fifth Cousin) IMPORTANT PERSON: None at the moment OVERALL HISTORY: Dorma’s parents Arnav and Kairi had a hard time conceiving a child. They tried for years and years but to no avail. Then one day Kairi found herself pregnant with a little girl. Knowing they would likely never have any more children they placed all their hopes and dreams on their little girl. And they had big plans. Having a tenuous relation to the Royal family, and thus the throne, her family decided Dorma needed the best education an aristocratic woman could receive. And with a little bit of luck they hoped that one day she would find a position within the Palace as a Lady in Waiting or some equally prestigious position. Thus Dorma, at a young age, was bundled off to the Palace to learn alongside her peers. This was a turn of events that the young Dorma was not happy about at all. Her parents had strong opinions regarding the Royal family. They highly disapproved of Princess Fen’s affair with a surfacer and the fact she’d not only gave birth to an ‘abomination’ but that this colourless child was to be their next ruler. It was with this preconceived attitude that she arrived at the palace only discover that she was just a few years younger than the said Princeling and would be in his presence a lot more than she had originally anticipated. At least she had the companionship of another pure Atlantean in Aquaria. Dorma was a bit of a troublemaker growing up. She learned that by omitting a few key details here and twisting the truth truth there she could convince people to do things they hadn’t anticipated doing. It didn’t always work of course. More often than not she wound up getting herself and her companions into trouble. At least in the beginning. With time she was able to better hone her skills which resulted in a better success ratio. With her arrival at the Palace Dorma decided that she was going to have everyone eating out of the palm of her hand. And she most certainly tried. Her goal? To learn all the secrets the Palace had to offer. Oh how she tried. Dorma stuck her nose into everything and quickly learned that the best way to get people to open up was to learn from them. Anyone who was willing to have a young woman hanging about was fair game. It wasn’t the sort of thing a young aristocrat was supposed to learn. If her parents had heard that she’d spend hours in the kitchen learning to cook or with the history tutor learning about strategy. That didn’t mean she neglected her more feminine studies however. She dutifully worked on her stitching, learned the pianoforte, and the art of dancing to name a few. It was truly amazing the things one could hear when they looked occupied and like all buildings with a large group of people, gossip ran rampant. Dorma thoroughly enjoyed her chosen education and was pretty pleased to have caught the notice of Atlantis’ resident Spy Master. He rounded out her education, taught her new skills, and provided a whole host of exercises for her to perfect her skill. As a young woman her family found her a suitor. It was a political match - his family was looking to move up in the world, and her parents believed that a woman was nothing without a husband. Dorma wasn’t sure how she felt about this arrangement but none the less agreed to meet with the young man. He was a nice young man, kind and yet a fierce warrior her Mitali. They got on quite well together and while their union was more friendly than anything in time they grew to love each other - in their own way. He was a good husband, didn’t protest her more unconventional activities and didn’t panic if she was sent away for days at a time. In return she tried to be the best wife she possibly could be. Thankfully on the day when the Palace was destroyed, Dorma and Mitali were across the city visiting Mitali’s family. When word as to what had happened reached them they rushed back to the site of the ruins to see how they could assist. Her father had perished in the rubble. However the Spymaster had survived the destruction and was quick to send Dorma to the surface to learn more about just what was transpiring on the surface that the humans would send ships of war this close to the Antarctic. Kissing her husband goodbye, Dorma left him to tend to their people and made her way to the surface. Since the destruction of the city had killed so many - including the Emperor, his daughter, and her own father - Dorma found herself suddenly third in line for the throne. Something her mother was very excited about. Dorma on the other hand had long since come to respect Namor and his style of ruling. Over the years he had proven himself to her time and time again. She remained on the surface far longer than she had ever planned - making the occasional trip home to report her findings and visit with her husband. Dorma was miserable, the surface was not her favourite place to be, but she did her best to do what she could to ensure the safety of her people. Eventually she received the notice that she was able to return home, however she wasn’t prepared for what she found. Dorma had been aware that Namor was making trips to the surface, and she was aware that he had found a paramore among the humans but she didn’t expect him to have brought her to Atlantis to become the Queen. That caused quite the stir within Atlantis and while she didn’t like or understand his decision he was the King. Nothing she could say would dissuade him so she held her tongue and set about doing what she could to quell the fires. As is the way with humans, Betty aged and eventually passed away. That was a dark day for Atlantis. While many of them might not have the best opinion of humans the majority of them had come to respect their Queen. Even Dorma who was notoriously set in her ways had long since come to like the woman. During the period of her illness Dorma did her best to ensure the Kingdom remained in tact while her King was pre-occupied. With times things settled back down again and all was right with the world for a few years. Then it was Dorma’s turn to have a life shattering change. The Spymaster whom she’d served under decided it was time for him to step down from his position and let Dorma take up his post. This was well and everything but within weeks of being Spymaster for Atlantis she made a poor decision based off of bad intel that wound up with her husband being killed. She had sent him to the surface to meet with an informant - something she had originally intended to do but matters at home required she stay behind. Mitali offered himself up as replacement and within moments of stepping onto the surface he was murdered. Her husband who she’d grown to love had been beheaded by Lemurian who had been waiting for her. It was a dark day, Dorma retreated back to the palace and threw herself into her work. Time heals all wounds, at the very least it lessens the pain. Now days she continues to act as Spymaster making the occasional trip to the surface and doing her best to serve her King and people. SIBLINGS: Only Child
IMPORTANT RELATIVES: Namor (Fifth cousin)
Aquaria (Fifth Cousin)
IMPORTANT PERSON: None at the moment
HISTORY:
For decades Dorma served as spymaster to Namor. She worked diligently to strengthen and build up the spy network already in place. She spent her life living halfway in the shadows, preferring to remain in the background and directing how the tides would flow rather than being the one who created them. This changed after Namor took possession of Lemuria.
With it’s government now in shambles Lemuria needed a firm hand to keep them crumbling further and from creating a resistance against Atlantis. It would not do to pick up the center of Atlantis’ power and move it to their newly acquired bit of territory. Not only would it be more work then it was worth, but it would send the wrong message to their people. Instead Dorma was appointed with the task of governing Lemuria with the full weight of the Atlantean Empire behind her.
Her “official survivor”, the person who would take over her duties should something happen to her, now appointed as her successor, Dorma knew the spies of Atlantis would be in good hands. And so she packed up her rooms at the palace and moved to her new quarters, and set about shaping Lemuria to be an asset to the Atlantean empire.
