[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Remy Etienne LeBeau ALIAS: Gambit, Le Diable Blanc, Robert Lord, Gumbo, Cajun, Swamp Rat AGE: 34 OCCUPATION: X-Man, Thief (Former Thieve’s Guild), MEMBER GROUP: Mutant POWERS AND ABILITIES: Molecular Acceleration; Taking potential energy in an object and converting it into kinetic energy, “charging” the item with explosive results. Smaller objects take less time to charge, thereby being more effective in a high-energy situation. Decks of playing cards are always on his person as they charge quickly and are easy to throw. His ability to tap energy also allows him to channel great agility and dexterity into an acrobatic fighting style. Hypnotic Charm; Subliminal psionic talent in his voice allowing a subtle influence over minds. More powerful minds are immune to this charm and people familiar with the practice can usually shake off the effects. Usually used to sway opinions and convince others that what he’s saying is the truth. Bilingual; Growing up in New Orleans, he is fluent in English and Cajun French. His accent is ever present, as well as his tendency to let a few French words slip into his everyday English vernacular. His seduction techniques rely heavily on his French fluency. 60% of the time, it works everytime. Expert Marksman; Extremely skilled in throwing small objects with great accuracy. (Cards, balls, knives, etc.) Will hustle the hell out of you at pool and darts and feel zero shame. Master Thief; It’s fairly obvious, non? PLAYBY: Jacey Elthalion OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Cait AGE: 23 GENDER: Femme Fatale TIMEZONE: EST OTHER CHARACTERS: Jubie Boobie [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: Bourbon; The spirit that reminds him the most of home. He enjoys the occasional glass (or two), but is by no means an alcoholic. He just likes to have a good time. Cloves; While a stipulation of Xavier’s is that he’s not allowed to smoke around the students, Remy can often be found lurking on the roof, enjoying one of his contraband cigarettes in the cool night air. The scent of the French tobacco lingers on him long after the Clove is gone, adding spiciness to his mixture of cologne and natural musk. Kittens; The furry little buggers manage to be adorable and fight dirty at the same time. He respects that. Not to mention their purring is quite relaxing. Picking Locks; It’s the little things that mean the most. Lock picking brings Remy back to his childhood on the New Orleans streets, learning to fend for himself. While most would associate this as a sad memory, Remy takes stock in the fact that his thieving, which captured Jean-Luc's attention, began with something as simple as picking a lock. He still practices from time to time, you know, just to keep sharp. Intimacy; It’s not always about the chase, nor is it always “wham, bam, merci mademoiselle” for Remy. He truly enjoys being in the company of a woman (or man), wooing them and making sure they feel intensely cared for in the time that they have together. DISLIKES: Cheap Beer; It's wholly unnecessary. His tastes are very refined, and a lowbrow brew will not cut it for him. Politics; As of late the political opinion of mutants hasn't been a very positive thing, so Remy tends to avoid any political situation. Unless it's a mission, and even then he tends to keep his opinion to himself. Laziness; A very active individual, he has difficulty understanding how certain people can spend an entire day on the couch. If he sits still for too long a period of time, he gets antsy and needs to go do something. Basically, he's a small child. Matthew McConaughey; Remy sees him as a talentless hack who needs to stop starring in romantic comedies that feature him playing himself. Stand-Up Comedy; If he wanted to hear someone complain about their life as a means of comedy, he'd listen to Summers every once in a while. STRENGTHS: Confident; Very sure of himself, Remy is often one or two steps ahead of everyone else whenever he enters a high-stakes situation. [SEE WEAKNESS] Seductive; Being very fluid in his sexuality is a definite help to his craft. Man, woman, or otherwise, Remy does not discriminate when it comes to intimate acts that may further his purpose. Whether a distraction for the X-Men, seduction in order to gather intel, or a little flirting to get past a stubborn guard, he'll do it. Master Combatant; Highly skilled in martial arts, in addition to street fighting, acrobatics, Savate, and Bojutsu. Referred as “the best hand-to-hand fighter Nick Fury has ever seen”. (look see I didn't make it up) WEAKNESSES: A Pretty Face; A master flirt, Remy has been known to (from time to time) get distracted from the cause at hand by an extremely attractive woman. Occasionally, said attractive woman will be the person he's supposed to be fighting. He never said he was perfect. Cocky; Sometimes, however, that confidence will turn on a dime and land himself deeper in a situation that he wasn't expecting. Then, he just improvises. Demon Eyes; Remy's eyes, red irises on black sclera are his sole physical sign of being a member of the mutant class. They always remain concealed by sunglasses when in public, which also protects them as they are more sensitive to sunlight than human eyes. The Gambler; Remy's compulsion for hustling came from the streets of New Orleans, and only escalated from there. As a result of his gambling, he is in debt to quite a few unsavory people, and is often pursued by even more unsavory characters whom he took a great deal of money off of. Only Human; As advanced as Remy's abilities are, his physical limitations are a major disadvantage for him. While he is bendy, his speed and strength are average and to say it simply, if you punch him he will bruise, if you cut him he will bleed, and if you stab him he will bleed a lot more. GOALS: Retribution; To be forgiven for his past mistakes. To be welcomed back home. To forget the terrible things he has done. FEARS: Nathaniel Essex; The man who helped Remy gain control of his powers while simultaneously making him into a puppet to do his bidding. Remy tries hard to forget the man he was during Sinister's hold over him, and tries hard to forget the things he was forced to do. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Remy's personality walks a very fine line between charming and skeezy, and he makes very sure to never cross over that line. He's the guy at the bar that flirts with everyone there, but is the first to swoop in and rescue an unwilling girl from the overbearing creep who can't take no for an answer. He may end up being the one to shove a highball glass down his throat until he understands the word 'no', but that's an extreme case. He is fiercely protective of those he loves, and has a bond with the students of Xavier's who were in a similar boat as he was when he was a child. He has an especially strong relationship with Jubilee, and looks out for her and the others the way an older brother would do. He can often be found on the basketball court with the kids, playing around and entertaining them in his downtime. Don't let them know, but he likes them more than he lets on. Even the brats. As far as relationships go, Remy isn't really in a hurry to settle down soon. He would like to do the whole married with kids thing eventually, but his last wedding left a bad taste in his mouth. He's good with his bachelor ways for now, though he can't be entirely sure what the future will hold. HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: The streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. RESIDENCE: Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, Westchester, NY. PARENTS: Birth Parents; unknown. Jean-Luc LeBeau; adoptive father. SIBLINGS: Henri LeBeau; adoptive brother (deceased). IMPORTANT RELATIVES: Tante Mattie (Mattie Baptiste); Not a blood relative, but an important figure in Remy's life regardless. Affiliated with the Thieve's Guild and housekeeper to Jean-Luc. IMPORTANT PERSON: Bella Donna Boudreaux; Ex-Wife. Bitch be crazy. Married at the age of 16 to align the two guilds (Thieves and Assassins), only to be annulled immediately after due to Remy killing her brother Julien in a duel to the death. OVERALL HISTORY: Abandoned at birth on the streets of New Orleans, Remy learnt the art of picking pockets and general thievery from a local street gang who essentially raised him and were unafraid of his demonlike gaze. After his tenth year of age had passed, he was adopted by Jean-Luc LeBeau, a wealthy man who's pocket he had attempted to pick. Jean-Luc turned out to be the patriarch of the Thieves Guild of New Orleans, and brought Remy into his home to live with him, his son Henri, and their housekeeper Mattie Baptiste. Remy bonded immediately with Mattie, referring to her as 'Tante' even as an adult. When Remy turned sixteen, a marriage pact was arranged for him and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the patriarch of the Assassins Guild's granddaughter. The union was intended to unite the two warring guilds, but the plan was foiled when Bella Donna's brother, Julien, vocally disapproved of the union and challenged Remy to a duel immediately after the vows were said. Remy ended up killing Julien in self-defense, but since the boy was to be the future leader of the Assassins Guild, the marriage was annulled and Remy was exiled from New Orleans in order to keep the strained peace between guilds. From then on, Remy traveled the world, putting his thieving skills to good use- his mutant powers aided the jobs he pulled by providing a means of self defense (his molecular acceleration) and also a means of getting away; or his way, depending how you look at it (his hypnotic charm). One job went horribly awry, however, and resulted in Remy (now known as Gambit) losing control of his powers and charging organic tissue... in other words, causing an opponent's death by accidentally blowing him up. Wracked with guilt and powers getting more out of control by the day, Remy sought out a geneticist who was rumored to be able to help him. Nathaniel Essex, known as Mr. Sinister, removed part of Remy's brain tissue to reduce his power levels and help him regain control. Remy now owed Sinister a debt, so in return for his help, Remy was forced to assemble a band of mutants who became known as the Marauders, a team of assassins. Sinister charged the Marauders with wiping out an underground mutant community called the Morlocks. This massacre became a turning point for Remy, as he tried his hardest to undo the terrible things he had caused but failed, only succeeding in saving one Morlock girl. After the massacre, Remy attempted to turn his life around and go legit, but found it difficult to undo twenty-two years of habitual thieving. He was offered a place on the X-Men by Charles Xavier himself, and agreed to join Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters under the guise of a teacher, which he likes to milk for all it's worth. He's been in and out of the school regularly for the past twelve years, but always finds his way home. His intentions are almost always honorable- sure, he pulls the odd job every now and again, but when the opportunity presents itself it is very hard to ignore it.
