[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Ororo Munroe ALIAS: Storm, 'Ro, Weather Witch, Wind Rider, the list is endless AGE: 33 OCCUPATION: Teacher MEMBER GROUP: Mutants POWERS AND ABILITIES: Weather Manipulation - Through psionic ability, Storm is able to control all aspects of the weather. Be it on Earth or in an extraterrestrial system, she has shown the ability to modify temperatures and control all forms of precipitation at a molecular level. It’s with this precise control over the atmosphere that allows her to create meteorological events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, as well as allowing her to generate lightning. Storm’s powers are linked to her emotional state and thus forces her to remain in absolute control of her emotions. Should she lose control of her emotions, an environmental disaster could occur. However, she cannot simply create a change in the weather out of nothing. Her powers require her to ‘borrow’ weather patterns from all over the world in a yin and yang fashion. For example, should she cause a large amount of rain to fall in the Sahara, the Amazon will suffer a drought. Her will power and physical strength also play a large part in her power control. The amount of time spent using her powers varies greatly on how hard she must focus. For example, a simple springtime shower causes no stress, while calling forth and maintaining a hurricane is very taxing and could ultimately kill her. Flight – Storm is able to manipulate and ride the air currents at subsonic speed. How long and how fast she is able to fly depends upon her fatigue levels, as well as what load she might be carrying. On any given day, at an easy pace, Storm could easily fly from New York to California with no strain at all. With a load/passenger, the same trip would cause more strain due to the increase in wind needed. To carry someone like Wolverine or Colossus would push her to the limits on a long flight. Temperature Resistance - Due to the nature of her powers, Storm is resistant to, but not immune to extreme temperatures. She can still be frozen by Iceman and still burned by Pyro. Willpower/Telepathic Resistance - Because of the willpower needed to control her powers, Storm has an enhanced resistance to mind altering powers. Should her defenses be breached recklessly, weather patterns could shift out of control. PLAYBY: Liya Kebede OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Eliza AGE: cut me open and count my rings GENDER: female TIMEZONE: PST OTHER CHARACTERS: Mystique, Madame Masque [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] WEAKNESS: Claustrophobia – When she was a young child, Storm’s house was hit by mortar fire, causing the roof and walls to collapse on her and her mother. Storm lay trapped in the rubble with her dead mother for days. Since then, she has suffered from a crippling case of claustrophobia that has not only put her own life at risk, but has also put the lives of her friends and family at risk. Mortal – While she may have been worshiped as a goddess, Storm is simply a mere mortal. Damage inflicted to her takes time to heal. She does not have unlimited stamina, nor does she have super human reflexes or a healing factor to save her should her defenses fail. Emotions - The only thing keeping Storm's powers in check is her ability to control her emotions. It was easier for her to maintain constant control when she lived alone in Kenya, but since becoming a member of the X-Men and developing bonds with friends and students, she can no longer separate herself from her emotions. And, while she still has control of her emotions, events of late have begun to fracture her resolve. Personality: Storm has always felt alone, mostly because for the better part of her life, that’s how she chose to live. Sealed off from anything that could cause her thin hold on her emotions to loosen and cause her powers to spiral out of control. She learned to keep her emotions shut away, only then did she feel she had full control of herself and her powers. It was because of this way of life that she can seem to come off cold and uncaring. In truth, cold and uncaring are the last things she is. Being with the X-Men, she’s been learning to allow her emotions to show more often. She doesn’t let them rule her; she constantly fights to rule them. It took a while, but she allowed a select few past her emotional defenses. It’s a risk, but she’ll never be able to learn to have both emotions and a grip on her powers if she never lets anyone in. Charles Xavier, the first one she let in, has filled a void left when her parents died by being the father figure she always craved. Jean Grey, the sister she never had and could never dream of being without. Scott, Logan.. the rest of the X-Men.. they are the select few Storm feels safest around to show her emotional side, because they are her new focus. Not the emptiness of her youth. Though she is relatively young, she had to grow up fast and so has the outlook and wisdom of one much older. She can, and has, filled the roll of mother to the younger inhabitants of Xavier’s School, as well as stepping in to fill the leader role for the X-Men at times. Fiercely loyal, she will willingly sacrifice herself for any of her team, and strong enough to make the hard calls others might not be able to. A lover of nature, Storm spends her downtime gardening. Be it on the grounds of the school, or the lush mini rainforest she has created in her living quarters in the schools attic, she finds it soothing and her own form of meditation to work with the plants. Her powers seem to give her naturally green thumbs, and she finds that plants are very good listeners. On the flip side, if she can’t find a calm state, she can be found in the danger room honing her skills at either hand to hand combat, or simply blasting things with her lightning. History: Born in New York, Ororo and her family moved to Cairo when she was a baby. A descendant of royalty, Ororo’s white hair and blue eyes are the defining feature for the women of her family and thought of as mystical markings among them. At the age of five, caught in the middle of a war they took no part in, Ororo’s home was destroyed, trapping the small child for days next to her dead mothers body. An event that traumatized Ororo and left her with a debilitating case of claustrophobia. As an orphan, she lived on the streets. Taken in by Achmed El-Gibar, she was taught the ways of a thief as well as learned hand to hand combat. Unbeknownst to her, it was during this time when she first crossed paths with Charles Xavier. While attempting to pick his pocket, Xavier used his powers to stop her escape. Unable to move, Ororo was terrified of what was happening. She had never froze before, but it seemed as though the man was in her head. She was able to make her escape when Xavier’s attention was diverted to another. Years later, while traveling to Kenya, Ororo was attacked and nearly raped by a man whom she had accepted a ride from. While defending herself, she killed her attacker and swore from then on to never take another life. She continued on her trek to her homelands, near dead, she discovered her powers and is taken as a goddess by the local tribes. It was here that she met Xavier again. This time, he explains to her that she is no goddess, but a mutant and with his help, she could learn to better control her powers and no longer detach herself from her emotions. Untouched by the modern world, Ororo knew nothing of mutants, or the battle raging on between humans and mutants. Intrigued by Xavier’s proposal, she traveled to New York to join his team of X-Men. As a member of the X-Men, Ororo formed close bonds with her new family. It’s on a mission early on, that her claustrophobia got the better of her. She had nearly killed them all that day and has since been working on, though failing for the most part, getting over her fear. It is that fear that causes her control to be taken from her, and that is simply unacceptable. It is a weakness that terrifies her to the core.
