[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Peter Benjamin Parker ALIAS:Pete, Spider-man, Spidey, Web-Head, Wall-crawler (Whatever crosses the bad guy's minds) AGE: 22 OCCUPATION: Freelance Photographer for the Daily Bugle, College Student MEMBER GROUP:Superhuman POWERS AND ABILITIES: Spider Physiology: Due to the bite of a genetically engineered spider while on a tour of Oscorp labs Peter changed. The bite triggered several mutations causing his body to modify when the venom mixed with his blood: growing faster, stronger and even gaining a few nifty abilities as well. |
Super Strength: Pete acquired an augmented strength after the bite that makes him capable of lifting weight up for 10 tons with ease. He is capable of catching a car flying through the air and gently bringing it back to the ground with its occupants safely intact. This also enables him to jump several stories in a single bound and propel himself from his webs with impressive momentum. This takes a large part in his web-swinging.
Super Speed/Stamina: Beyond that of some of the finest Olympic athletes Pete is able to reach high speed on foot capable of chasing down a accelerating vehicle. Despite this he prefers swinging as it is much faster. Part of the his mutation is an increased stamina, his muscular structure produces a minimal amount of fatigue toxins allowing him to exert himself at peak performance for several hours on end before exhaustion really sets in.
Super Agility/Equilibrium: Pete's performance in feats of agility are beyond that of any normal human. His body after the bite is able to maintain perfect balance (much like that of a spider on a wed) allowing him to stand on objects such as the top of a flag pole or clothing line with minimal effort. Institutionally his body is able to maneuver and twist through the are with such ease he can flip, roll and jump without loosing any momentum in his movements. This has been fine tuned to make Pete into an incredible acrobat. He considered doing the Olympics but decided it wouldn't be fair.
Super Reflexes: There's not much that Pete doesn't see coming, physically that is. His reflexes are fine tuned to the point he can dodge most normal attacks with ease. This includes gunfire if he is given enough distance. Being a man of science Pete tested this and his reflexes are 40 times that of a normal human, that is matched with his...
Spidey Sense: While not the scientific name for this phenomenon this title was given to this ability by Pete attempting to explain his sixth sense. Not that he can see ghosts, this extrasensory early warning system is ingrain in his mind as a survival instinct. When impending danger is present a tingling sensation is felt in the back of his skull allowing him to react before the attack can be landed. It has gone off for more than just physical danger, it has allowed him to keep his identity hidden by warning him of observers. This has been known to even cause his reflexes to kick in while sleeping (scared the hell out of Aunt May) While this is probably the most useful of his abilities this is the one shrouded in the most mystery, Pete has yet to actually figure out the reasoning behind this ability like the rest.
Healing Factor: This is limited, not to the extreme level of some super humans. Pete is able to heal from injuries such as massive skin damage and broken bones in a matter of days. This also helps him fight of poison and drugs from his system.
Web-shooters: Okay, not a power but still pretty freaking cool. These nifty little inventions were brought to you courtesy of Pete himself. Crafted on bands that were originally watches he created a high pressure dispenser of his custom made Web Fluid in strands. This can be used with precision aim to create a strand he can swing from or pull objects towards him from a distance, or small blasts to send out a grenade of sorts to cover its target. The web fluid is his own secret concoction of chemicals to make a solid that through shear force is made into a liquid, once exposed to air returns to a sticky solid once more. These come from small cartridges that must be dispensed into his shooters. He always keeps a healthy back up supply in his belt under his suit. This webbing has the strength of steel cords and can hold a tremendous amount of weight. It does however after several hours of air exposure return to it's liquid state.
Spider Tracers: Again, not an actual power but a nifty little invention from our hero. In efforts of tracking various individuals such as a departing enemy or suspicious vehicles. These are small round red spiders no larger than the average Nickel. With an adhesive side that sticks to the target these let out a small radio frequency that Peter is capable of tracking with a hand held radar that he carries on his belt.[/ul]

PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT:
LIKES:
Photography: This has been a passion of his since his Uncle Ben bought him his first camera at the age of 10. He even has his own dark room in a spare room of his Aunt May's basement. It was a simple choice for a career for him after high school.
Science: Pete's always had a passion for the sciences from physics to engineering. He has always excelled in whatever classes he takes on the subjects (provided crime fighting doesn't get in the way). He's fascinated with super powers and is constantly asking every person he comes across his powers where they got them from.
Inventing: He is always trying to come up with ways to modify and improve on the things around him, be it his web shooter, spider tracers or Aunt May's dish washer.
Web Swinging: Because if you could do it then it would sure be your favorite pastime too.
His Fans: Having been web slinging for a few years now he has developed a bit of a fan base. He loves to pay attention to his fans even practicing his signature as Spider-man.
DISLIKES:
Bullies: Being that he was often enough a target of bullying growing up he can't stand seeing others being pushed around. He's never one to just allow this to happen even before he had the ability to do something about it.
Running out of Web-Fluid: Nothing hurts more than running out mid swing...
Sewers: Having spent FAR to much time in the sewers the very thought drives him nuts. I mean, have you ever fallen into sewer sludge? Given the average New Yorker's diet you can imagine the horror. Have you ever had to clean sewer water out of spandex? Yuck!
J. Jonah Jameson: Not only is he terrible to work with and extremely hostile in the work environment. Pete is simply not a fan of his work and holds disdain over his public out cry against him. The man is the worst PR rep.
Being Late: While it's something he does rather frequently it drives him crazy he can never be anywhere on time. This also makes it a pain to explain why to most people given no one but Gwen know's about his double life.
STRENGTHS:
Computer Geek: Though he's always one to let out a quick snarky remark or two don't let his playful demenor fool you, Pete has brains to match the brawn. He's a wiz with a computer able to hack into most complex systems, he's often used this to his advantage when gathering evidence on some of the more organized crime he's starting to look into.
Inventive: Aside from the more practical use of making the fun little gadgets he loves so much, this actually takes a large part in his fighting style and use of his abilities. He's always finding new interesting ways to use his powers in practical day to day superhero life.
Master Acrobat: Given his highly tuned abilities Pete is capable of moving his body through the air with more skill and precision than the most skilled acrobats. There isn't a acrobatic move in the book he can't preform and a few more he can that probably would be impossible for the average human.
WEAKNESSES:
Priorities: While Pete doesn't see this as a weakness many of those he has come across in battle have used this to their advantage. His first priority when out doing his web slinging is the civilians. he will always drop whatever he is doing to rush and save a civilian, be it someone a baddie has thrown off a roof to make their escape or a random train loosing control. This will always take immediate attention from what Pete's doing, if there is even a remote chance he can protect an innocent he will take it. Part of a personal promise he made himself after Uncle Ben's death.
Spidey Sense Disruption: Seeing as he never truly knows what the threat is when this ability is triggered he never knows when it is on the fritz. There have been several things that have made his Spidey-sense go off for seemingly no reason throwing him off balance and having him jumping at shadows.
Bad Luck: Years of experience has driven Pete to be a firm believer of Murphy's law. He has terrible luck and it's not just odd streaks but a good majority of the time. Always running late, breaking something losing this or forgetting that. Even just swinging through the city when he's around the worst always seems to happen and never exactly to his advantage. But it's all just 'That usual Parker luck.'
GOALS:
Quit being called a menace by the Daily Bugle / get J.J. Jameson to smile, he'll settle for either.
Support Aunt May so she doesn't have to work any more.
FEARS:
Losing more people he loves.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: For the majority of his life you wouldn't have noticed Pete. He was the scrawny nerdy kind hiding behind his glasses and a book four most of school. He never stood out in the crowd and his quiet, vulnerable demeanor made him a regular target for bully. This left Peter with self confidence being surpassed and leaving him quiet and nervous.
This all changed when he was bitten by the spider and dawned the mask. The mask allowed his suppressed humor to shine! He loved the anonymity of being able to say what he wanted. This showed a more fun loving side of Pete that was unknown even to him. Knowing what he was capable of this gave him more confidence outside the mask as well. While not as carefree as his alter ego he is certainly more social than he had been before. He still gets nervous at times and stammers over his words but it's hard to tell where he's acting and when he's just shaken up.
There is a brooding side of Peter that is not often seen. He's haunted by his past and doesn't take decisions and mistakes lightly. He has some residual abandonment issues from his parents mysterious departure as well as still raw sounds from his smart filled rage ultimately leading to his Uncles death. He's haunted at the thought of his future actions leading to similar results so is very adamant at protecting his loved ones. His secret identity is something he holds very deal and doesn't give it away easily.

OVERALL HISTORY:
Peter Parker was born the only son to Richard and Mary Parker, he lived a happy life with his family wanting for nothing. His father was a successful scientist for Oscorp Industries. All was well with the world until that fateful night when Peter was 6 years old. Late in the night he was woken suddenly by his father, he gathered up Peter and Mary and sped them through the night to Pete's Aunt and Uncle's home. There is not much that Pete remembers about that night besides the very brief goodbye and his crying mother being consoled by his father as they walked out the door, never to be seen again.
For a long time Peter waited. When he wasn't in school he would sit in their front room staring out the window watching the street for his parents return. He wouldn't unpack his bags he wouldn't sleep and barely ate. Days turned to weeks and weeks into months. Peter refused to admit the weren't coming back. One day late at night Pete was on his way to the kitchen to get a drink when he over heard May crying and Ben consoling her. She worried about him never snapping to and what they were possibly going to do taking care of a boy who didn't want to be there. That night Pete unpacked his bags and the next morning you would have thought he was a new kid. It was easier for them from there, the hurt feelings and thoughts of abandonment still stuck with the boy but for the sake of those who he loves they would stay his own to deal with.
Growing up in school for peter was hard, he was a boy of small stature and a smart as a whip. There wasn't a subject he didn't get an A in. Though his studious nature was not overlooked by the predators of the playground. Flash Thompson, while in the same grade as Pete was a monster of a child, easily towering over the boy. Quite often Pete was the target of Flash's abuse but Pete never stood up for himself. How could he, he was small and he was weak. The bully was the closest thing that Pete had to a friend, to everyone else he was invisible. There was one girl however who always stuck out to him, a little blonde girl named Gwen though he never dared to speak to her.
Death in absentia. That was what was declared in courts when Peter was ten years old. His parents missing had been long enough for them to be declared legally dead. It was a quiet day at the Parker residence as Peter and Ben went through his parents belongings, keeping whatever they could. After being begged by Peter, Ben helped him convert the basement into Peter's own lab with his father's equipment under the pretenses he "Didn't blow the house to kingdom come". Taking his father's old texts and notes he started to delve into science as his own pace. His brilliant mind thrived with the research, it must have been something he got from his father because the way his father explained it clicked much better than at school.
By the time high-school hit he was in all AP classes, which had its bonuses. The Neanderthal Flash no longer had classes with him so the bullying was reduced mostly to between classes. Plus he had Gwen in most of his classes so he would often catch himself staring at her but still not working up the nerve to say anything. Using an old camera of his mother's Pete got involved with the school newspaper, taking photos for various stories and different school clubs (that had the bonus of having Gwen in most of them). During lunch one day Peter came across Flash picking on a younger student, pushing him around while the rest of the school gathered in a crowd. Not wanting another student to have to go through Peter stepped forward defending the young man. Just as he had planned Flash turned his anger towards Pete, a regular David and Goliath story. Only as Pete had planned to fight back that wasn't exactly how it has went. Several quick blows and he found himself of the ground writhing in pain. Much to his chagrin it was Gwen that stepped forward, stopping the incident from escalating any further. The next class the last thing that Peter expected happened, Gwen spoke to him. She didn't need anything from him or have any secret motives. She just asked his name and from what Pete had noticed there may even had been a spark.
Later that night while helping his Aunt and Uncle go through old boxes he came across his fathers old briefcase. After going through its contents Peter found several files from his fathers latest work at Oscorp with a mysterious 00 as the only identifying mark. Along with this was a photo, his father and one of his fellow scientists shaking hands. After a heated debate with his guardians Ben told him who the man was. A revered researcher for Oscorp by the name of Curtis Connors.
Desperate for answers Peter went to Oscorp Tower, posing as one of the interns there for the tour. Much to his surprise the guide was none other than Gwen Stacy, forcing him to hide in the back of the group. It wasn't until Dr. Connors spoke to the group that Peter made his presence known answering a question that the doctor had posed. Thankfully Gwen didn't blow his cover, begging him to stay with the group and not get into trouble. Of course as the tour went to move something caught Peter's eye. An employee walking by with a file marked with the same 00 . Avoiding Gwen's sight he separated from the group and followed the man. This led him to a lab room, filled with a circular frames filled with spiders that had woven a web into the structure. Curiosity struck Pete and he reached out to touch the webbing. An alarm went off the moment he touched the material and the webbing stopped, causing a large spider to fall onto his hand.
He watched as the large spider dug its fangs into his hand the pain was searing and he shook the arachnid loose and fled from the room. Right into Gwen. She quickly confiscated his badge and threw him out. That night by the time he arrived home he was exhausted, a cold sweat ailed him and he was wracked with pain. He spent the night writhing in he bed, muscles tearing and bones creaking. The mark where the spider had bit him was swollen and pulsing a disturbing shade of purple. Peter was sure that he was going to die. The spider must have been poisonous. He cried out for help but no air could be found in his lungs. He lay there shaking, waiting to die. It wasn't til the early hours of the mourning that he lost consciousness.
A single fly buzzing through the room landed for a moment on his nose sprung Peter out of his sleep. With one involuntary moment he flung off the bed and landed nimbly on the ceiling, hanging the palms of his hands and soles of his feet. It too him several minutes to detach from the ceiling. Trying to unlock the door he broke off the handle, his muscles had grown over night but the handle had come off with such ease. How could he possibly be that strong? His senses were heightened, reflexes at their peak. He had no idea what has happening to him. He spent some time looking through his fathers work and reading over a book Connors had written on their work until he finally decided to visit Dr Connors in person. Perhaps shed some light onto the situation.
At first the Doctor opted to send the young man away from his home until Peter revealed he was the son of Richard Parker. He questioned him about the work they had done and he revealed that his father had been the one to bred the spiders that had bestowed him with his new abilities. He revealed that there was a piece of the research that they had been missing stopping the progress in mastering cross species genetics. Having studied the file so much Peter wrote out the equations that had been in the file and gave them to Connors in hopes of helping him complete his fathers work.
The next day at school when Peter was confronted by Flash again like he usually was but on that day he had the power to fight back. When the Bully took a swing at Peter he caught his fist mid-swing and crushed his hand, breaking multiple bones. He was sent home pending possible expulsion.
Ben picked him up furious. He was going to have to work a double for leaving work early so he told Pete needed Pete to pick up May from work when it was done. As soon as Ben drove off Pete head out, straight for Oscorp. He was excited to hear that Connors had made use of the data Pete had been able to supply and they were starting animal trials. Pete was at Oscorp til late into the night and came home to find Ben waiting for him on the porch, furious.
He told Peter that he needed to take responsibility and step up to what he was capable of. He told Peter something his father lived by and often spoke on. If a person had the ability to help and do good for other people then it was their obligation to step up and do those things. With great power came great responsibility. The wound of his parents having been raw from the digging he had been doing lately he explouded, shouting at his Uncle. Declaring he wasn't his father and had no right to tell him what to do before running out the door.
He knew that Ben was looking for him that night. He saw him walking through the streets hollering his name but Peter never left the rooftops. After several hours Peter stopped at a convenience store to buy a drink. Finding himself a few cents short the clerk turned him away saying that charity wasn't his policy. As Peter left the store the man behind him held the clerk at gun point, emptying out the register and running pasts Peter. As the man passed the clerk called out for him to stop the robber but Pete held up his hands and said it 'wasn't his policy'. After the thief took off down the street Peter headed in the opposite direction. Before he could clear the block the sound of a gun shot went off. He quickly ran back to see what had happened and turned to find the thing he feared most. His Uncle laying on the sidewalk, clutching his chest. He called out for someone to call an ambulance but it would never come in time. Ben Parker died there in Peters arm.
The next few days were rough for him, the police had left a sketch of the man they had witnesses say was the shooter and it was as Peter feared. The killer was the same man he let run past him at the convenience store. He began to hunt for the man who killed his Uncle and right the wrong that had been done. At first he wore simply a mask to hide his face as he tracked down criminals that fit the description, looking for that star shaped tattoo. After a while he began to make a name for himself and he decided the mask alone would not do. With the purchase of some spandex and a bit of crafty sewing he made himself a suit, red and blue to match the odd coloring of the spider that bit him and some tactfully engineered web shooters.
Things with Gwen continued to progress well. She was very sympathetic when his uncle had passed and despite how he had shrugged her off in his time of mourning she was still there when he started to return back to his normal self. She even went so far as to invite him to diner with her family. Peter was surprised to find out that her father was the chief of police and coincidentally also the man heading the vigilante hunt against his masked counterpart the media refereed to as Spider-man. After a pleasant dinner turned into a heated debate over the figure as a masked vigilante and Peter had to excuse himself from the meal, sorry for offending Gwen's father. He and Gwen went to the roof where Peter then revealed to her his identity as Spider-man and they shared their first kiss.
Moments after sirens came rushing by and took off towards the Brooklyn bridge. Peter quickly dawned his costume and pursued. A giant lizard was tearing through thee cars on the bridge causing a panic. Peter quickly swung to the rescue. Helping civilians get out of the way and catching cars that had been flung from the bridge. Figuring out the creature had escaped into the sewers Peter went down into the complex system to investigate. Discovering a secret lab and some recorded experiment he figured out that Connors was the creature and planned to turn the city into creatures similar to himself. Peter quickly told Gwen of his mentors twisted turn in science and she developed a cure. Connors stormed Oscorp Tower lucking to distribute the serum that had transformed him and with help from Gwens father atop the tower they were able to stop his twisted plot. Though not without great cost. In Connors final strike before reverting back to his human state he struck a fatal blow to Captain Stacy. Removing his mask Peter ran to his side to try and help. With his final words Captain Stacy made him promise that he would leave Gwen alone. With what he was doing he was going to make enemies and he had to stay away from Gwen to keep her safe.
He didn't go to see Gwen after, he didn't answer her calls. He kept the man's promise. He did attend Captain Stacy's funeral but avoided the crowd, not wanting Gwen to see him. She was bright, unsurprising to him. She confronted him of course but Pete was torn, heart broken. How could he deny the man his dying wish. He understood it, what he did was dangerous but he couldn't stand to be away from her. Though he fought over the choice still internally he ultimately couldn't fight his feeling for her and the were reunited.
They graduated from high school. The brilliant woman he loved was elected valedictorian and he barely arrived in time to receive his diploma. They went off to college together, Peter made sure to apply the same schools as Gwen although he had to take a sizable loan to attend. Not wanting the price to fall all the way onto may Peter found himself a job. The Daily Bugle was looking for someone who could manage to get pictures of Spider-man. A easy gig given the circumstances. The boss however was really the one who made him work for the money. J. Jonah Jameson was a man like no other and the hot head is still a main source of Peter's frustration.
As time went on more and more heroes began to emerge and with it new dangers. A city wide attack on New York from an alien race was certainly something Peter was not expecting to deal with. Thankfully with a few other costumed heroes taking on most of the job Peter focused mainly on helping the evacuating citizens and helping trapped pedestrians. He wasn't quite ready to step up to the big leagues. For now he has at least won the heart of a decent amount of the cities populous. Fans were popping up more and more and he had regular spots on the news and in the papers (the exception being the one he worked for). He has even managed to develop a bit of a working relationship with local PD and Fire Departments and continues to do what he can to help citizens on the street.
