Wanda nodded a bit. She hadn’t been to Manhattan all that often, despite its relative proximity to Genosha. “I don’t often have the chance to ‘be a tourist,’” she admitted in reply, “When I travel, it is usually for business.” At least these days. When she was younger, it had been all about survival and she hadn’t had the time to take in the sights in any meaningful way. She didn’t mind, however. She knew that what she did now helped many people, and she was proud of that fact. The more people that she could help - especially those like her - the more her life meant.
She smiled as they paused in their walk while Megan admired a flower stall not too far from their path. “Yes, I quite enjoy it,” she replied with a nod. Wanda had met the young woman selling the flowers a few times before and she gave a small wave of greeting to her as her companion took in the beauty of her creations. Wanda sometimes wished that she had the power to create like that, but her blessings were in other areas. It took many kinds to forge a society, after all, and her abilities had their own helpful uses.
Megan took her wallet over to the stall and Wanda followed after her, greeting the owner quietly as her new friend looked through the offerings. She even took a moment to dig through her purse for some money to drop into the money jar she kept on the counter, declining the woman’s offer of a gift of thanks.
“What keeps me around?” Wanda repeated as she thought over the question, “I suppose it’s the people, more than anything. I enjoy spending time with Genosha’s citizens, and I have spent much of my time on various community projects. I like seeing those grow and prosper. And it is nice to have all of my family nearby.” And to not have people bitterly attacking them because of their heritage, as Wanda had experienced as a child.
