A technological wonderland that has been run by the Stark family since the 20s, New England is a mid-sized state on the American continent. Currently ruled by Howard Stark, it provides the technology of many surrounding states.
Just north of New England lies Canada, a slightly chilly but nonetheless fruitful state. It is ruled by the Beaubier twins, each of whom has specific areas of expertise that complement each other perfectly.
Located directly west of New England is the state of Shadow Province, so named for the long winters and long nights that make them up. They have a long-standing alliance with New England, where they provide aid in the form of the Avengers team while the latter provides technology back. It is currently led by Nicholas J. Fury.
A state that follows Charles Xavier’s dream of mutant and human harmony, it is a rather new area of the continent, located southwest of the Shadow Province. While the citizens turn to Xavier and the X-Men for final decisions, it does not have a formal government.
South of Shadow Province and east of Arcadia lays Genosha, inhabited nearly entirely by mutants, who show their powers freely in public. The humans that do live in Genosha are few and far between, usually relatives of the mutant populace. It is ruled by Erik Lehnsherr, better known as Magneto, and his family.
Arcadia and Genosha’s neighbor to the south is in a constant state of turmoil due to the organization called the Watchdogs that attempt to rule it and keep it “power-free.” They’re incredibly untrusting of their neighbors to the north and constantly attempting to unseat their power and widen their borders.
The southernmost “state” of the American continent is overgrown and rarely ventured to by others. Populated mostly by dinosaurs and other holdovers from ancient times, there are human tribes that call the Savage Lands home nonetheless. These tribes follow Ka-Zar and Shanna as their overall leaders, but are still individually led.
Currently ruled by the Braddock siblings, Old England is steeped in tradition with a bit of modern flair. It is a mid-sized state that is the second oldest currently-surviving state between the two continents of Earth.
Never a united state, the land to the east of Old England is divided into a multitude of city-states, each with distinct culture and leadership, usually by elected officials of some kind. The city-states are usually fighting with each other and as such will likely never form a unified state.
To the south of Old England and the Asiatic City-States is the land of Latveria, ruled by King von Doom. While the rest of the world is wary of the man or outright hates him, his citizens live in mostly peace and harmony.
Perhaps even more technologically advanced than New England, Wakanda is ruled by King T’Challa, who protects the world’s supply of Vibranium within his borders. It lays to the west of Latveria and shares tense relations with its neighbors, as Wakanda is not keen on outsiders of any kind.
The state to the east of Latveria is stuck in the past, harking back to the olden days of the continent that would otherwise be unremembered. It is ruled by En Sabah Nur and his Four Horsemen, who keep the people of the state in-check and its borders closed down. The oldest city-state of all, it has barely changed since its creation.
Decades ago, the Red Skull began slowly conquering the land to the south of Latveria, cobbling it together into a small empire to be ruled by him. Now ruled by his successors, the land is harsh and vindictive, constantly lashing out at the other states in the world and attempting to expand its control.
The southwest corner of the continent belongs to a race called the Inhumans. While King Blackagar Boltagon established Attilan on Eurasia, a separate community called Afterlife was grown on America. Eventually, Jiaying and her Inhumans emigrated from America and together they expanded the borders of the still-small state. The two rule side-by-side.
A large island and chain of smaller islands off the western coast of Egyptia, it switched to a completely Democratic government after World War II. The Defenders call one of the islands their home.
Twenty-thousand years old, the City of Atlantis was originally a floating behemoth, and a wonder of magic and technology alike. At some point, the culture faced a cataclysm and the city crashed beneath the waves off the coast of Antarctica, disappearing for millennia. Rediscovered by the homo-mermani under the guidance of Poseidon some eight-thousand years ago, Atlantis now houses the world’s oldest, most contiguous culture. The city is vaguely Greco-Roman in architectural regards, and houses roughly two-million Atlanteans, all ruled over by Emperor Namor.
The world’s southernmost continent belongs to the Atlanteans; both the human Atlanteans that have taken the oath of fealty to the nation, and the ethnic Atlanteans. A few human settlements dot the northernmost portions of the continent where the climate is slightly more forgiving, and technology helps keep the cities safe and habitable year round. Other coastal territories are strictly forbidden for any to enter, as they house ancient Atlantean tombs, and disturbing the sites is considered a taboo.
The Empire of Atlantis has stretched to encompass the whole of the ocean, with Lemurian and Barbarian settlements falling under Atlantean jurisdiction. Though the other cultures are slowly becoming incorporated, some resentment and differences still exist, and in-fighting can erupt. Beyond the homo-mermanus settlements are the infinite wonders of the deep. All manner of fantastical creatures dwell beneath the waves, seldom seen by surfacers.
Being the most populated city in the United States has its perks. New York is a huge tourist attraction, and is a mecca for fashion, business, and finances. Whether you come looking for museums, theatre, or a fresh new start, you've found the place to do it.
Home of the Æsir, or Asgardians, they are ruled by Odin Allfather and are allies to Midgard and Vanaheim. They stand against Thanos and seek to protect Midgard from his forces.
Home of the Jötunn, or Frost Giants to the scholarly Midgardian, Jotunheim was ruled by Laufey. Since his death, they have formed a treaty with Thanos, and are united against Asgard under his direction.
Home of the Svartálfar, known as the Dark Elves to the scholarly Midgardians, Svartalfheim is currently compromised by Thanos. This is a world completely under the dictation of dark forces.
Home of the Vanir, sisters of the Asgardian warriors, and an allied world against the coming darkness. Vanir who have chosen to fight alongside Odin and his warriors to protect Midgard are classed as Asgardians by the S.H.I.E.L.D. databases.
The Astral Plane is a place separated and yet parallel to the normal, natural world. Inhabited by the astral forms of psychics and the dead, it is a place that not many will ever see.
The Chitauri Homeland is a world hidden off the Bifrost and beyond the scope of Asgardian technology. It is the base of operations for Thanos and where he imprisons those he considers useful until they agree to his terms. It is also where those who have failed him meet with their punishments.
The Dark Dimension is an amalgam of other realms absorbed over millennia, ruled over by the dread Dormammu, who is always seeking to add more dimensions to his domain.
