Aside from everything being different, quite literally in that regard, apparently skipping work for three days in a row was frowned upon in this universe as well. Even if you were part of the family and that one day, everything the light touched would be yours. Why couldn’t they have been transported to a world were work wasn’t a thing anymore? Though to be fair on that, Alice would’ve gotten bored within the first two weeks of no work in that sort of world.
She also didn’t see how she had any sort of importance to the company; surely they could do without her? This was when she discovered she was apparently the person who was the chief technical officer. You know, the person overseeing like, everything in that department. Maybe other her had been good at this, but she didn’t even know what she was doing. This job probably deserved to go to some that, well did. Since she didn’t now. Who could she promote? Looking a the list of people, her eyes glazed over.
She didn’t know anything about any of them. Who the heck was RiRi Williams? To her, just a name on a sheet. She didn’t know the woman. Maybe she should just write down everyone's name and just pull one out of a bowl. That was fair, right? Totally fair. Glancing at the sheet again, Alice spied a familiar name. Peter Parker. What the heck was Pete doing working for Tony? Had he finally come to his senses? Had he always worked here?
Well, maybe he had answers then. Poking her head out her office, she snagged a different intern going by. “Hey, could ya tell Pe-Mr. Parker I’d like to see him in my office right away.” Alice stated, trying to sound as professional as possible. When Pete arrived, she tried to look as serious as possible, just to mess with him a little bit. “Mr. Parker, have a seat.”
As soon as her office door closed, however Alice couldn’t help but laugh. “Dude, you should’ve seen your face. Ah, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It was just too good to pass up.” Alice stated, still laughing from time to time. “So, uh...” Hmmm, how to do this without sounding crazy.
“Right. So, what the heck made you leave the bugle and Jonah for a better boss, finally? I thought you really liked it there.” Alice said as the first thing that came to mind. Whoops. Hopefully that was in a file on Peter somewhere , so if he did get suspicious, she could play it off like that.
She somewhat hoped he was as lost as she was in this sort of world. At least she’d have a third person to talk to about the shift of the universe and not have to re-establish friendly banter with Peter.
Pete thought work had been stressful before he switched to this Brave New World reality. But over the last week Peter had been experiencing a whole new level of stress. Aside from the fact it was every nerds dream to wake up in a land of technological utopia living in it was a whole other matter. Especially if you worked for the main producer of the amazing tech that populated that world. So here was a young Peter Parker doing his best to fake it until he made it.
Based on the collection of work Pete had discovered when nosing around this realities version of his lab he was disappointed. It seemed like this worlds Pete didn't seem to care as much for the science side of his personality. It seemed outside of basic upgrades for his equipment he focused mainly on the crime fighting side of things. From what he could gather the only reason he got the internship at Stark was because of his night life choices. Not that Pete was complaining. He was just happy he didn't have to go back to the Bugle but from what it seemed this Peter had skipped right past that line of work. It made the real Peter feel a little silly for spending so much time working for the man trying to destroy his image. This worlds Peter seemed to have something called 'Self Respect'.
As he gingerly tinkered away with unfamiliar tech Peter hovered over a tablet trying to catch up with the many advancements this world had. It was an endless task but mildly satisfying and fascinating at the same time. He was so entranced in his research that Kelly, one of the other interns, had walked up behind him.
"Peter?" Pete jumped at the sound of her voice. His glasses fell from their loose hold on his ears and clattered across the ground. For a moment he went to go grab them but instead opted to swivel in his chair and look at her in a wide eyed confusion. The blond intern blinked at him for a moment before carrying on.
Oh yeah. Much more smooth.
"Ms. Moore-Stark is asking to see you in her office." She gave him a half hearted smile and a nod before moving about into the rest of the labs. Oh that was great. If he remembered correctly she was his boss, the director of their division or something along those lines. Grabbing his tablet he threw aside the text and began thumbing through his 'Whole New World' notes he had complied for quick reference. He had played enough table top to know how to fake a backstory. Sure enough she was Cheif Tech Officer though the name rang a bell for some reason or another. Stark was aside from the obvious but he must have missed the cliff notes where Tony had children in this universe. Peter promptly gathered his tablet and glasses and made his way down the hall.
It wasn't until Alice came into view that he realized when it had seemed familiar. He had worked hard at avoiding people while he got acclimated to his new surrounds so he never realized that the picture snapping damsel in distress Jonah had hired to spite him was now his boss. Well wasn't that lovely. The stern look did little to calm his nerves as he walked into the office. He had slipped up, or maybe missed some clearance procedure along the way. Now he was going to have to swim his way out of the deep end of a pool he didn't know. He quickly moved into the office as the door began to close behind him.
"Thank you Miss Stark. Oh! I mean Moore. No no no Starkmoore? Moore-Stark. Miss Moore-Stark..s-sorry." He pushed his glasses up and took a seat, placing his tablet across his lap. Her laugh startled him slightly at first. He glanced around the room quickly before nervously laughing along for a brief moment. Was he being Punk'd? No they must have been friends in this universe or something and he was missing out on some inside joke. It was a confusing situation for poor Peter Parker. He hadn't the slightest idea what was going on and it continued to worsen as she asked him about the Bugle. He opened his mouth to respond at first but thought for a moment. This worlds Peter had never worked at the Bugle. At least that was what he thought he remembered.
"Um, well..." The young intern quickly pulled up his tablet and thumbed through his files. This worlds Peter had never taken to photography. It seemed this worlds Bugle relied on Eddie Brock as their main photographer. Peter had ridden on grants into college until Tony picked him for the internship he'd assumed when the Avengers had picked him up. So how did he respond? It was a confusing question and the paranoid part of Peter was reminded of a trap though he highly doubted there was any larger conspiracy involved. Placing back his tablet he looked up to Alice with a borderline painfully confused look upon his face.
"I ugh...didn't?" His voice rose into an upper conflection as he wasn't sure whether it was a statement or a question.

Alice had no idea what the basis was for people of their universe coming over versus people of this home one not; what was the deciding factor? For the most part, things were going okay for her. It wasn’t like it was perfect; she was still putting off contacting the rest of her family perhaps out of a childish fear that they wouldn’t be the same people in this universe, but from what she’d scraped together, things weren’t all that different here for her.
Except for, y’know, Howard and Maria still being alive and being a bit younger. So she actually had grandparents on Tony’s side in this universe, and they were, well, distant but polite. Who wasn’t in Tony’s family except for Tony? It also appeared that she’d never spent time with Howard, something she was sure was the fault of both men; for whatever reason, as forward thinking as they were, talking shop with girls didn’t seem to come naturally to either Tony or his father.
It probably bothered Tony the most when people pointed out how incredibly similar they were.
Either way, Parker was the only person she had any sort of remote knowledge of from her universe, so she wanted to talk to him. If he wasn’t the Pete she remembered, well, she was still the boss so it didn’t matter. As much as it still bothered her in the first place (and why she was getting a replacement), nepotism had its uses. It was too much fun to abuse power, which was why Alice was certain she was not a good choice for this position in the first place. She was far better with either an independent operation and no one she was responsible for but herself, or being one of those cogs out there.
Not in this office with; goodness why was her desk made out of Mahogany? “Chill, Pete. Though I do like Starkmoore. Then again, Stark and my name don’t really go together, do they? Sounds better with my mom’s surname.” Alice said after she’d spooked him. “Aw, nuts. Don’t look so scared, I’m just pulling your leg.” She said, sounding slightly concerned.
Then again, she’d thought of Peter as her friend in the first place. Sort of. Potential friend. This Peter…well, he acted like the Pete she remembered. “You didn’t?” Alice repeated, sounding confused. “Okay, so you don’t remember me calling out your boss from the Bugle?” She asked him, sounding puzzled.
Wait a minute.
This was familiar...especially since his reaction was more of a question/statement than a serious declaration. “So, not from this universe, are ya? Do you notice anything different about me, hmmm? Well, aside from the ‘Tony Stark is my Dad’ thing. Truth; I didn’t know that when I met you the first time, so I couldn’t tell you.” Alice said, trying to make a point with the way she spoke. “At least, if we’re, uh, on the same page now.” She really hoped they were. She could play it off a stress filled ramble if he was native to this universe.

Peter Parker It's ok, Pete. Alice isn't from this universe either. made by a Melon! in the land of THQ!
Of course he remembered her calling out his horrible boss. It was a glorious day in Pete's life. Watching the poorly mustachioed man get degraded was something that had stuck out rather dominantly in his mind. Of course it was immediately followed by Peter being demeaned in turn. It always rolled down hill in the corporate world, though now that he though about it. This universe's Jameson was a complete blank slate. For all he knew he was the same red faced ball of anger issues, then again he could be a humanitarian for all he knew. But him being humiliated was definitely something her remembered. It wasn't something this worlds Peter should though. Nor should it's Alice.
Her boisterous nature certainly resembled that of the original Alice. Though Pete didn't really know this Alice in context so he couldn't make that call. He wasn't sure how a free spirit like Alice could get up to a high ranking position like that.
Hold the phone Parker. STARK
"You're a Stark?!" The cat was already out of the bag that he 'wasn't of this world' though the moment that little nugget clicked he wasn't sure it would have mattered. Shaking the thoughts from his head as she actually went in to explaining. She filled in a few blanks. At least the ones that she knew. What she wasn't aware of was they had met one time before that. Bonus to having two ego's? You get to make a first impression twice. Downside, trying to keep track of who remembered what.
"You should try to be more careful Alice. Like if I wasn't from..." He paused to a moment to think of how to put it. "Our world that could have gone like WAY differently. You don't know if you can cause some sort of catastrophic rip in space time or something." Maybe he had watched too many Sci-Fi movies growing up but the very concept of them being here was mildly terrifying. What happened to the people that were here? What if they went forward about the shift? He'd watched Back to the Future too many times to try and make waves but it worried him that not everyone shared that caution.
"Do you want Man-Ape overlords Alice?" Peter asked, an all too serious tone in his voice given the subject matter. "Because this is how you get Man-Ape overlords." The mild mannered vigilante pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose to punctuate his point. Peter pulled his tablet back up to him pulling up the office directory.
"I'm going to email you my files. Kinda a cheat sheet I made for our Universe field trip thing..."

“In the flesh.” Alice said. “But seriously Pete, you gotta keep up. You keep getting flat-footed like that and you’ll be caught in a rock and a hard place.” Alice said, leaning back in her wheelie office chair placing her feet up on the desk. “Well, if you weren’t I dunno, I think you would’ve reacted differently and then I would’ve improvised. I’m good at that.” Alice said, sounding flippant since it was a what if scenario, and not the one they were in currently. “I dunno, I stepped on like, ten bugs this morning so I think it’s safe to bet that exchanging memories from a universe we both remember won’t do that.” Alice said, making perhaps a slight reference to an old Science Fiction trope.
It was still safe to say that Peter was way more nerdy than her, though. “How we got here, I dunno. Why us, too? What’s so special about me and you?” Alice mused, before Peter gave her a joke to use. “Yeah, I don’t think so. Plus, then we’d have to run the gamut of all the possible futures of Earth.” Pete then said he’d email her his files for their universe field trip. “Tell me when it’s time to go home, then.” Alice said in jest though she meant it.
This world was not their home at all. And Peter raised a good point. What happened to their mirror counterparts? Did they meld together or something? Or was the other person just shunted out entirely. “Also, you’re no help. I was gonna pick a replacement for me, since I have no idea what I’m doing.” Neither did Tony, but since his Dad was alive in this universe, Alice surmised that it meant that Tony had more free reign to do just R&D things. “Think I should just take everyone’s name and fish one out of a hat to choose? Seems the fairest way to do it.” Alice said to him.
