[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: T'Challa ALIAS: Black Panther AGE: 30 OCCUPATION: King of Wakanda MEMBER GROUP: Government, Superhuman AFFILIATIONS: Canon POWERS AND ABILITIES: Pre-natal exposure to the radioactive decay products of the oldest vibranium totems, combined with timed exposure to the Heart-Shaped Herb, have fundamentally altered T'Challa's physiology. His lung development and muscle fiber composition lend him increased stamina and strength above that seen in a normal human. These effects are further amplified by a custom-designed, vibranium-weave battle suit. Embedded monitors and heads-up protocols enhance all five senses. The suit collectively pushes his strength and speed beyond from merely extraordinary to outright superhuman levels, almost comparable to that achieved by heroes like Captain America. These abilities have a number of constraints. He has a relatively small percentage of body fat. This gives him a very limited reserve during illness. He tolerates caloric restriction—let alone outright starvation—especially poorly. In addition, the outer limits of his suit's augmentation capacity tax his heart beyond what is sustainable, even for him. Alternatively, the suit's internal powers is exhausted after a few hours of sustained use. He completed his tertiary education at Oxford University. There, he obtained a degree in Pharmacology. His research work was hailed as insightful, and particularly promising. While still familiar with the field, his academic output has declined as he turned his attention to the practical business of running a country. Friends say it makes him a good listener. Tutors, a careful, deliberate planner. Outsiders comment on his stoicism. Foes will find that while rarely given to outright deceit, he is happy to be underestimated, or let his quietness be misinterpreted. Those that make that mistake cannot often afford to repeat it. For him, though? It's simply a determination to deal with the world as it is, and accept what life brings. Those that know him personally can tell a deeper story. Of a man deep, long-lasting commitments. Someone for whom justice stands foremost among a raft of strong principles instilled by his father. They'd tell of his warmth, so peculiar in that it seems more like gratitude. Perhaps it is. After all, there are few times and people with whom it is safe to let off the weight of the crown, and simply be the vulnerable, questioning man, trying as much as any other to make good of his life. [/PTab][PTab=HISTORY] NATIVE UNIVERSE DESIGNATION: MCU A house divided cannot stand. Man set against himself is insane. What, then, of a King? Yours is the secret kingdom. Empowered by an ancient meteor, safe-guarded by an oath of secrecy, Wakanda has stood for millennia. To those that would break tradition, the warning signs were ample and unambiguous. The Triangle Trade, King Leopold's Congo Free State, the Italo-Abyssinian Wars, Lumumba's assassination, apartheid in South Africa, the Rwandan genocide. Each time, the world promised it had learned. Each time, it stood by silently, checking its bank accounts while rivers ran thick with blood, and whole civilizations were torn apart. They did nothing. And neither, ultimately, did you. You are paramount chief of the Panthers. In this, you are like your fathers, stretching back for countless generations. You made the walkabout, and came back a man. The rites of passage were executed, and you were found worthy. Only then did you take up your mantle as Protector of the People. There, you learned that evil prospers whenever good men slumber. You see life's hard choices, and how rarely we are rewarded for making the good one. Most of all, you fight. Against foreign invaders and corrupt natives, fiends and fanatics. You fight because you can, and someone has to. At least within your borders. As for the rest of the world, what is that to you? Except it ate at you. You had been there, after all. There were people you remembered—fondly. So you persuaded your father to step out onto the international stage. Wakanda would join the community of nations, you the fellowship of Inhumans. He died within days of the formal announcement. Still you stayed the course. But now you could hear the drums of another, equally disturbing march of history. Hirohito and the Co-Prosperity Sphere. Manifest Destiny. Each saw itself first as persecuted, then as divinely gifted, and finally as unchecked hegemons. And what, then, are you? A hero, answering the call of ages? A new world power, ready to trample others in an upward climb? A fool who has just sold out his people? You change your mind sometimes, when you're lying awake at night. You wish you still had your father's counsel. Regardless, the die is cast. The future is coming. This world may be new, but you are the same. You are the Black Panther, and you must be here to greet it. INFINITY ENDSVERSE: T'Challa's personal affairs have been thrown into disarray by the shift in universes. Ororo Munroe, for whom he had harbored increasing but unspoken feelings, is gone from his life. Wrestling with guilt over the death of the father he remembers, he is surprised to find the man passed peacefully of old age here. Though it should have been comforting, the dark feelings haven't gone, and now he lacks even an explanation for them. Washed away in the changing tides of history, some of his favorite art forms simply no longer exist. Out of place and struggling not to reveal that fact, the King has doubled down on reclusiveness and began an intensive study of his new world. Although no longer secretive, Wakanda is, like many of the surrounding nations, highly traditionalist and fairly closed to outside influence. Until a few months, they had charted a careful detente with Egyptica and other nations as a bulwark against outside threats. Though uncomfortable with this, the newly arrived T'Challa is equally conscious of the outcomes that an alternative pattern of alliances yielded. For the moment, they've withdrawn diplomatically, as he considers the next best move, and prays something doesn't emerge that forces his hand prematurely.
