Letting out a whistful sigh, she leaned across a balcony. The hot sun blasting the unobscured parts of her body, and despite it being Christmas time she wasn’t in New England where she personally wanted to be.
Instead of spending Christmas with people she wanted to spend the holidays with, she had been whisked away and sent to a beautiful island that was in every way perfect. And as far as everyone knew, it was all part of her job in following around her firm’s MVP-lawyer who had to take a red-eye flight all the way to paradise and prepare an ungodly wealthy person ahead of a massive lawsuit.
And such a tasty wad of cash meant there were no holidays holy or special enough, because if the client wasn’t helped by her firm, he’d throw his bags at a firm that would forego the holidays for massive amounts of money.
That of course, was the ‘official’ story Kayley was fed and had to run with. Because the legal firm was only the most legit front in existence, and instead of there being a client and a lawyer, this whole trip was for Kayley and Kayley alone. With the lawyer, and the client, and the flight, and all the legal documents being just another part of the cover to ensure not even the snoopiest snoop could poke a hole into the story.
After all, Kayley’s task had been spying on Tony Stark, one of the most powerful entities on the planet. And she had been sent by another powerful entity, to get close to the man, to hook her nails into him and be their inside woman. The biggest honey trap in existence. And after the nearly two year of set up, preparation, and action it had not yet gone south. The powers that be preferred the project to stay that way, for Kayley to play her part, and for Tony being none the wiser of the true story going on.
If that meant spending literal millions in setting up something as real as could possibly be, just to get a direct meeting with Kayley, they did just that. And after she had spilled the beans on Tony’s ‘moment’ where he all but had a mental meltdown, and the subsequent weeks of him acting completely out-of-this-world, they had wanted to know every single salient detail about it. So they could use it as ammo, to hurt Tony, to break his and his father’s technocratic empire.
She had never been in the position to say ‘no’ and spend Christmas with Tony and his family, because that would only imply that her mind was being clouded between personal feelings and ‘the project’.
But now, after hours of meetings and debriefings, new objectives, and everything that made her head spin three times over. She had been let loose, and she was alone on Christmas day on an island that was as Christmas as it was ugly… It wasn’t…
Breaking her gaze out onto the ocean, her mind was telling her to just set it all aside and enjoy the solitude of neither Tony or her handlers pulling her. To just be herself, and have ‘me-time’ for a change. But her attention was quickly broken by a figure that looked like a person floating in the surf, and before she knew it she had flipped off her heels and was pacing down a beach in the hope this person wasn’t dead…
’Please don’t be dead, I don’t need even more shit on my plate right now…‘ Kayley muttered to herself, closing in on a man lying face-first in the water with no clothes on, making her wonder if he had been one of the boat people that had went tumbling off his yacht.
Kneeling onto the sand next to the unmoving body, she ran her hair back wondering what to even do with someone that was probably dead. Instinct instead took over, her fingers running along his neck trying to somehow find a pulse, even though it was something she had only really seen in movies.

Tigershark had quickly discovered that this world was not his own. Something was wrong about all of these things, but what really concerned Tigershark was his reputation. That started in Atlantis, since apparently no one knew who he was (though he’d been mistaken for Namor a few times, something he’d gone out of his way to correct. They did look strikingly similar, though). While usually tough and able to swim across the Pacific or Atlantic just fine, Tigershark wasn’t really in a rush to go to Atlantis.
What if everyone forgot about him there too? Then he’d have to build his rep up from scratch! That was just all kinds of wrong! Being full Greco-Roman, Christmas wasn’t exactly a celebration for Atlantis. Though he did like getting gifts; he figured he should probably get some for other people. Not that he cared or anything, it was just frowned upon when you got gifts and didn’t exchange them back. Besides that, how was he supposed to transport the gifts underwater? Oh well.
Deciding to sleep on it, and not really caring where he was exactly or if he drifted, Tigershark fell asleep in the sea, drifting about. He was amphibious after all. Like a Frog, but a saltwater frog. There weren’t really any amphibious sea creatures that he knew about, and it really wasn’t that important.
Being a light sleeper, when Kayley spoke Tigershark woke up slightly, when she touched his neck however, he was definitely awake with a start. It wasn’t that she’d actually hurt his gills or what not, but they were slightly sensitive to touch. “Vas machst du gerade?” Tigershark said, in his native language. Cracking open an eye to look at whoever was touching him, Tigershark spotted Kayley, who looked confused at his first statement.
“I’m not dead, I vas sleepink.” Tigershark said, in a heavy German accent as per usual. English was not his first language, nor was Latin, so he had an accent in them. Something about her seemed familiar, but he dismissed it. He’d know if he met her before, and he definitely hadn’t.
“Vhat's wrong? You're lookink a little sad and gloomy. Vhat you need is some vitamin me.” Were the next words that followed from Tigershark, who didn’t pass up an opportunity to hit on a pretty girl when he met one. There wasn’t much in the way of a question as to why she was here on and Island during Christmas or by herself.
Moving a step back, the sudden revival of the naked man startled her slightly. Enough to get herself back onto her feet and trying to make sense why this guy was apparently sleeping face first on the surf of a beach, buck naked at that too.
That latter fact made Kayley significantly uncomfortable too, with the man getting up himself and giving her a faceful of man, and Kayley sure as hell wasn’t ready for that.
’Uhm, wow… Okay, erm… I guess I’m glad you’re not dead, whoever you are.‘ Kayley awkwardly stammered, avoiding eye contact and training her eyes on a boat in the distance.
But the man made it significantly tough for her to keep her focus away from the person as a whole. Because he immediately came at her with the worst line she had ever heard, combined with the thickest accent that she expected was something along the lines of German, or whatever Rickman had been using in Die Hard.
Gritting her teeth lightly, Kayley couldn’t help but laugh at the awkwardness of the situation. ’I appreciate the sentiment, I guess. But the only one that needs something, is you.‘ for half a second her eyes darted towards his eyes. ’And I’d prefer it be some pants, or at least a towel of some kind.‘ she said, immediately returning her gaze at the boat in the distance, doing her best to stay composed.
And it wasn’t like Kayley was shy or anything, she had liked boys for long enough, and she kinda was dating Tony Stark too. But this situation was something else, and the fact that this guy -,who was probably drunk and had probably tipped face-first down a balcony into the ocean,- was throwing flirts at her whilst buck naked, was kinda a bit too crazy for her liking…

“Alexander.” Tigershark supplied. “Cuvier.” He tacked on as an afterthought. “Or Tigershark, you can call me zat as well.” Either one worked for him. Her reaction was typical of most people on the surface, which he somewhat understood. You weren’t supposed to be naked above ground, but why anyone would wear clothes underwater was beyond him. The caused drag and weighed you down, and he certainly wasn’t going to go out of his way to make other people comfortable. Maybe if Darcy asked, but she wasn’t here right now.
“Ain’t much here zat can kill me.” Tigershark bragged, puffing up a bit as he did so, because to his knowledge, it was quite true. Her reaction was not unexpected, but not what he’d been hoping for. Oh well. He didn’t bother asking why; apparently body parts were uncomfortable to this woman. However. “Don’t see vhy I need zhem.” Tigershark replied, stretching to work out any kinks he might have had. “Zhey’re just going to be lost when I start swimming again.” If Kayley cared to observe the upper part of his body, she would notice the brow and the pointed ears, not that Tigershark was making any effort to pretend like he was human.
“Vhat’s vith za boat?” He asked, gesturing to the small ship that was drawing closer; he could hear muffled shouts and sounds from it, if he concentrated hard enough, but it was too far away to make out anything more than that. There was still something somewhat familiar about her, as if he should know her…or at least had seen her somewhere before….no, that wasn’t right, and they definitely hadn’t met, or else she wouldn’t be reacting in shock, he knew that much.
She also wouldn’t be so ansty and anxious, which he could already tell. Maybe whatever or whoever was on the boat that was coming to shore was making her that way. Either way, it was no longer his problem. “I’ll be here if you need me.” He said with a grin sent her way, before falling back onto the beach sand, with no intention of moving whatsoever.
Crossing her arms, Kayley honestly didn’t had the patience for these kinds of shenanigans right now. Her mind was swimming with problems as they were, she didn’t need a guy like him to make shit even more complicated. And that wasn’t even with her accounting for the fact he was Atlantean, or a Star Trek convention reject.
’Whattaya mean ‘what’s with the boat’?‘ Kayley returned with a slight scowl, getting annoyed by the flippancy coming from the naked guy on the beach. ’You mean they’re not your people?‘ she wondered out loud, scratching the back of her head.
Seeing the guy almost childishly fall back into the sand with naught a care in the world, Kayley walked closer to the surf to inspect the boat that was as the ‘Tigershark’ mentioned was moving in their direction. Which wouldn’t be something she worried about, except for the glints of metal in the hands of the people on the ship.
Kayley wasn’t an expert, but she was pretty sure they were carrying firearms. ’Hey, get up, now!‘ Kayley shouted at the guy, driving a bare foot into the sternum of the Atlantean. ’I don’t know if they’re here for you or me, but I’m not sticking around to ask them.‘ her tone slightly panicked.
They could’ve been Maggia people that were keeping their eyes on her, to ensure everything was a-ok, but if they weren’t then they were extremely bad news. Kayley had plenty of that to ask for seconds. ’Seriously, get up, we need to get out of here.‘
Looking around, the only place they could go was back to beach house she was staying in. With any luck, there was also some clothing there to give to the guy. ’We can find some help at my apartment.‘ she told the guy, hoping that the ‘offer’ of going to her place could get him to stop dallying.

“Vhy would zhey need a boat?” Tigershark asked her, thinking that Kayley was much dumber than most people he’d met. They lived underwater, why use a boat to travel overland. “I fink zhey’re your people.” He added, just because the only other people he knew that would come to collect him were all dead. Or at least, the wing of HYDRA that had created him was completely annihilated, and HYDRA didn’t do direct tactics like that. They were sneaky people.
He laid back on the sand, and was about to take another nap before he felt Kayley’s foot on his ribcage. “Not for me.” Tigershark said, the voices coming in a bit clearer now. “Not happy zat I’m here though, but the motor cuts out a lot of the rest of it.” If she questioned it, that wasn’t his problem. He was never one to shy away from using his powers and abilities around normal people.
She then mentioned that he needed to get up and that they needed to get out of there. He seemed largely unconcerned and committed to remaining on the beach until she mentioned apartment. So she was into him! Not that this was unbelieveable; he was the greatest, after all. Why wouldn’t she want to be with him. Finally roused from his previous position, Tigershark quickly scrambled to a stand, preparing to follow Kayley to the only visible house on the island. “Zat is not an apartment, I fink.” Tigershark stated, pointing out the obvious flaw of calling a house an apartment, at least from his perspective.
The pair of them were able to move across the beach unimpeded, with the boat growing louder and louder as it drew closer to the island. “I fink zhey really wanna talk to you.” Tigershark mentioned to here, before they made it inside the building.
Kayley Ryan I'M SO SORRY D;. At least John/Alice, I'll be on top of, I swear.
Grunting in frustration, Kayley didn’t even reply to the inane ramblings of the Atlantean and instead continued proceeding towards her apartment that overlooked the beach. If she was in any luck, she could contact part of her security detail and get out without any hassle.
Nearly barging her own door down, Kayley made a beeline at the phone, grabbing it but the lack of tone meant that whoever had been coming at her in the boat had been able to cut the connection before making their move. As an alternative, she thanked modern technology and grabbed her cell phone, the one provided by her handlers to contact them in emergencies, and this sounded like the perfect example of one.
’Shit, shit. Crap, what the hell is going on!‘ Kayley exclaimed as the only thing that came through was static… She was bright enough to know that they jammed it, somehow.
Tossing the phone across the room, she rubbed her forehead, all the while shooting angered glances at the aloof and downright absent minded figure that didn’t believe in clothing.
’Who the hell have you pissed off to make them come after me, Alex?!‘ she queried out loud, although she cared little about the answer.
Nor was there time for an answer, as footsteps made their way up the stairs. And glancing back there were human-sized shadow all around the secondary exit. They were stuck, and whoever it was, they had all the cards in hand.
’Even better, maybe find a way to be useful rather than just wasting air. Because I was having a great day, until you washed up on the shore!‘ Kayley aired in blind frustration, feeling it was the best way to get rid of her stress.

Alexander was much more lackadaisical in his attitude, though he was quickly finding Kayley’s freaking out to be annoying. “Vell, you’re a target zhey want, ja? At least, that’s what it sounds like.” Tigershark stated, still naked as the day he was b…er, created. “No one, if zhey were after me, zhey wouldn’t have picked this area to come after me in.” Tigershark have growled, half smugly stated.
He was much faster than any HYDRA agents, and on a remote island? It was like begging him to annihilate the entire retrieval team. He cleaned out his ear, now getting extremely annoyed with her shrieking and accusations. “Ahhhh, shut up.” Tigershark said to her. “You’re so shrill.” he added unnecessarily. He seemed perfectly aware of these idiots barging in here, but he had no desire to help Kayley out her situation.
However, it looked like he was going to get dragged into this no matter his affiliation or care for the woman he was currently with. Footsteps clomped up behind them and before a word could be gotten out, Tigershark was already moving with purpose. No one surrounded you and wanted to talk; they wanted you to obey. It was all just a formality to give you the illusion of choice.
Today, however, the joke was on them. They were meeting Tigershark, the best there was. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed by a long shot, but this line of tactics and strategy was something he was familiar with. Whirling around and grabbing whoever it was that had stepped up there, he tossed the figure into the secondary exit where other men were guarding the house. With enough force to break the window and door as well, of course.
The second man would find his weapon ripped from his hands and crushed into a pulp, before Tigershark’s gaze met with the other party members. “Vell, are we gonna fight or vhat?” He said to them, a shark like grin on his face. These people were invading someone’s private house on a beach.
Means that most people wouldn’t miss them if they ended up disappearing.
Eyes opening wider, her outside demeanor changed from fear to downright anger at the aloof mentality of the naked fishman that seemingly didn’t give a rats ass about the entire situation, even going as far as making jokes about it all.
’I’m shrill? Well you’re an absolute brainless idiot!‘ She bit back in downright anger. ’If I was the one with guns, I would shoot you in the face myself!‘ Part of her was dead serious too, she wasn’t a killer, but this guy had gotten on her last nerve the moment they had met.
But yet, like that, the guy just flew off on his own exploration of stupidity. Bum rushing the first person that walked into the door and tossing him through the opposite one like he was ragdolling a two-hundred-fifty pound child as if they were barely there.
’I can’t say I’m not grateful, but seriously, do you ever think about your actions?‘ Kayley answered, the man having ran straight into a pocket of people with machine guns, and men trailering from the other side to jab a pistol into Kayley’s back.
’If you want Flipper, please take him off my hands, because I swear to god you’ll throw him into the ocean sooner rather than later.‘ Kayley quipped with a cynical tone on her voice, caring more about just getting away from Alexander rather than surviving this encounter, whatever it was.
’I hate to disappoint you, Miss. Ryan, but we are here for you today.’ a graying man in a suit spoke up, appearing from behind a few gunmen.
Kayley could quickly notice that the guy had plenty of money, and probably was part of some sort of mob. Because the suit was the kind of refinement and gaudiness that only 80s cocaine fueled stock traders, and mobsters would wear. The man even had an expensive stogie between his fingers, only needing a glass of booze to finish the whole ‘wannabe supervillain’ motif you’d see in a spy flick.
’You got me at a disadvantage here…‘ Kayley shrugged lightly, her feminine graces replaced with survival instinct, trying to find some way to get out of the situation. ’… But if I had known I’d be this popular today, I would’ve dressed up for the occasion… Maybe some body armor.‘ Kayley replied tiredly, knowing her jokes were merely deflecting for the fear in her body.
’Such fearless wit, it’s almost adorable.’ the man sniggered, nipping from his lit cigar, soulless blue eyes focused on hers. ’But what would Tony Stark think, you philandering with this… specimen… during Christmas, the holiest of all holidays…’ shaking his head in disapproval, he strutted around like a man that had just won the lottery.
’I dunno, maybe ask Tony yourself?‘
Glancing back at Alexander, Kayley squinted her eyes wondering if the Atlantean was in on the whole thing, a part of some plot to blackmail her, even more than she already is being.
’No, this is not about Mr. Stark. This is about business, about the business your dear parents have with the people on the council, the dealings that put you right in the middle of everything, my dear girl.’ the man explained, once more nipping on his cigar and letting his gaze float away from her eyes and to the rest of her, sending a chill up her spine.
’I mean, it’s no secret that you’re merely a victim in all this, being pushed around to pay off your families debts, being forced to whore yourself out to Stark so the council can get all the Stark’s dirty secrets.’
’You’re merely a bargaining chip for a group of people that are in dire need of replacement, and you’re gonna be part of tha’ change, Kayley. I’m cutting the pillars down, and you’re gonna help me with that...’ he finished, making it very clear that Kayley had no choice in the matter either way, the guns made sure of that.
Faking a huge yawn, Kayley rolled her eyes and shrugged in disinterest. ’You’re done explaining your evil plan, Scaramanga? Because I honestly don’t give a shit, and I think you made Alexander over here fall asleep...‘ Kayley finally rebutted.
Looking at Cuvier again, she even wondered what the guy was even thinking. There was probably a cymbal playing monkey in his head, or just some seashells. Even the suited man shrugged in light confusion at the continuing presence of the Atlantean.
’I don’t know what the knife-ear is doing, you’re free to go, our issue is not with you fish-people…’ The man laughed light-heartedly, putting the cigar on his lip. Waving his hand to indicate Cuvier could walk away without being stopped.
’And please, for the love of god, you people buy some clothes. But I guess all of you are just too mentally deficient for human decency.’ he added, puffing away on his cigar and returning his gaze to Kayley.

Tigershark was not at all pleased with the turnout of events, and even less so when Kayley snapped back at him. He scowled at her, he was doing her a favor here! Gosh, it really was like those guys said; you tried to do something nice for a girl and she just threw it back in your face, especially since she was continuing to complain even after he tossed some guys around. “Psh, like I care if you shoot her.” Well, he probably should care but she was being so difficult. Not thanking him for helping her out and for sticking around when he could’ve just ditched her.
Honestly, she should be more grateful.
Tigershark noticed the surrounding people. Ooh, fun odds. They didn’t stand a chance. “Uh, sir….” Said one their men, who’d gone into a defensive stance, guns trained on Tigershark. “He doesn’t look like he’s standing down…” The man said, before their boss went into his spiel. “Vell, I am better zhan Stark, so yeah.” Tigershark stated.
Out of all the phrases, that was the one that stood out to Tigershark, who had less care for whatever else was going on. They weren’t HYDRA so he didn’t care. He was also still naked, which would be a bit of a problem with all the guns. Not too much of one, but a bit of one. Tigershark glanced over at her. “Tigershark.” He corrected, his green eyes drifting back over their odds. That was when their boss made his mistake. Knife ear had no meaning...but fish people…..and then the last sentence pretty much sealed this man’s fate.
Tigershark’s gaze snapped to the man. What did he just say? Within a blink of an eye the cigar was snatched from the man’s jaw and crushed into dust. Had he not had more of his learned restraint going, the man’s skull would’ve been crushed for those insults. As it was, Tigershark was going to give him one chance. “Apologize. Now.” Tigershark growled at the man, and noting the movement of the men surrounding them. At the sound of something that wasn’t an apology, Tigershark sprung into action, almost rolling his eyes as he snatched Kayley from the man holding the gun at her side.
Mainly because she served as a great meat shield; Cigar man was pushed with quite a bit of force, almost caving in one half of the beach house and Tigershark took off at an expedited pace out of the house, putting Kayley between him and bullets. “You can thank me later.” Tigershark said to her with a grin. He really didn’t care for her at this point in time, she was just useful to keep around for this fight.
’I sure as hell am not getting my deposit back now…‘ Kayley dryly exclaimed when the Atlantean threw the cigar chomping bad guy straight through the walls of the small beach apartment.
But to really complain about it all, Kayley had bigger things on her mind than that. Mainly, she was getting shot at by angry mooks. And the only thing between her and the bullets was a buck naked mass of muscles with questionable intelligence. She appreciated the protection, especially seeing how she’s not exactly been patient or pleasant with him, but really, she kind agreed with the bad guy on the whole ‘get some clothes’ part. It made an awkward situation ever the more weird.
Eventually, the guy calling himself ‘Tigershark’ had gotten through the better part of the hail of bullets with herself intact, and arrived at a small piece of cover underneath an elevated parking lot. The mooks doing their duty in reloading their hand-cannons.
’Luckily I’m not paying for the deposit…‘ she figured, smiling lightly despite the fact she was inches away from catching a bullet. ’You’re going to be okay, Tigershark?‘ she asked, finally acknowledging the name he wanted to be called.
Hearing footsteps from beyond the cover, she knew that the mooks weren’t done yet and were going to shoot at Kayley and the Atlantean until they were both more lead than flesh.
’Thank god everyone on this god-forsaken island drives fancy cars, by the way.‘ she mentioned off-hand to Cuvier, feeling that this might be one of the few times she was ever going to use her powers in defense.
Quickly mentally scanning all the cars above her, she burrowed into the digital systems of each and every one of them, one-by-one overriding their systems and telling the stationary vehicles one thing ‘Time to fly’.
’I suggest we take cover… now!‘ she answered only a few seconds later, grabbing and pushing Cuvier back first into the closest wall, putting her head against the man’s chest trying to make their profile as small as possible in the hope that none of the vehicles were going to land on their heads…
There was rain coming, very loud and metallic rain…

While he was pretty tough, it still hurt to be shot so Tigershark didn’t particularly care for the rain of bullets. Nor did he care about Kayley’s quips. He did have half a mind to just leave her there because he didn’t like her at all, but then Stark would probably notice she wasn’t around and eventually word would get back to Namor and Tigershark really didn’t want to deal with that.
He was very confused by the presence of a parking lot on what appeared to be a private island. Why bring cars to a place covered in sand? Did these people enjoy getting sand in their cars or something? “Pfft, I’m fine.” Tigershark said. “Now, give me a reason to actually care about your well-being.” She was under cover now, so if she got shot it wasn’t going to be his fault. This happened right as she seemed to do something as some of the guards pursued them.
Kayley shoved him against a wall, which while he usually would appreciate from a girl, but he actively was starting to dislike this one. It would’ve been better had this been Darcy, who he needed to find again. “Hey, do you know a girl named Darcy? Thor’s friend?” Tigershark said, seeming unconcerned with what was happening. This sort of environment was something he was used to and actually enjoyed.
The cars did exactly what Kayley had told them to do, falling and crush several of the guys that were unfortunate enough to be caught up in the area. Several of them fell back instead, deciding that with their boss dead and metallic rain, this might not be the best course of action. Tigershark however, wasn’t done. Forcefully shoving Kayley away from him, Tigershark moved more forward, listening to see where people were in the area. He could hear the shuffling of at least ten different people.
“Zhey’re not goink to charge in anymore.” Tigershark said to Kayley. They would be sneaky, and not reveal themselves immediately. There was too much interference around here to listen for their approach all too well, though Tigershark didn’t think that any of them had time to get into a sniping position. “At least, so long as I’m here with you.” Sure, she launched the cars somehow, but if what happened back at the house was any indication, well she needed him.
Case in point, he flicked a rock hitting one of the sneakier agents that had been creeping up behind Kayley “Nine to go.” He said, accounting for all the breathing he could hear.
With the noise of perishing cars and bad people died down, the only thing she could hear was her own heartbeat pounding itself into oblivion. She wasn’t used to danger like Tony had been, or like Alexander seemingly was. Grace under fire she genuinely lacked, she didn’t want to be a hero or any of the other things other powered people did with their lives.
And just as quickly as Kayley had looked for cover, Cuvier pushed her off with little grace and overlooked the chaos that she had caused. Which had effectively send the mooks running, at least for a few minutes so they could clean their trousers and regain their confidence in taking them out, dead or alive.
’You know I can take care of myself, right?‘ Kayley replied, in a weak bluff.
She appreciated the backup, and she probably was doomed without him. But the way the guy was completely aloof to anything, it had frayed every nerve the moment she had met the guy. And she wasn’t going to allow herself be treated like a damsel, or just a third wheel that didn’t add anything of note.
But once more, the Atlantean had a way to shut her up that she simply couldn’t reply against. The man grabbing a rock, and throwing it at unnatural speeds past her and into the skull of someone that had nearly sneaked up to her with a gun.
’… Thanks, but I suggest we find a place where we aren’t out in the open?‘ she suggested, knowing that the nine that remained were undoubtedly pissed off and ready to throw the kitchen sink at the two of htem.

“Ja, sure.” Tigershark said, sounding sarcastic. A rare feat for him. “If that’s za case, zhen I’ll just leave ya to it.” he said. Since she said she didn’t need him, his conscious was clear; it wouldn’t be his fault anymore if she lived or died. He seemed to completely blow her off, now not really caring about her livelihood. If she lived, great! If she died, well that just showed how much of a liar she was.
Of course, if she did die, then Tony would be...well, whatever. He’d never met the guy, but he assumed the reaction would not be a glad one. Unless of course Iron Man also disliked Kayley but, y’know, killing people was wrong. Namor would probably understand, but only if he talked to Kayley. Which he couldn’t do if she was dead. Still, did that outweigh the pro of leaving her to fend for herself?
“Vhy? I mean, you can.” Tigershark said. The other reason to keep her around was the fact that Tigershark enjoyed fighting, and being able to go on a justified rampage, all in the name of protecting someone like her, who was nowhere near as cool as him was also a pretty decent pro in her favor. He listened for remaining people in the vicinity, but there weren’t any nearby.
If it was not already clear, Tigershark was pretty blasè about killing people. He should probably head out and leave her ‘alone’ and then strike when they closed in. He remembered that tactic from HYDRA. Except this girl wasn’t nearly as cool or as hot as Jess was. Actually she was like….the least hot girl he’d met.
Maybe if she learned to shut up she’d be pretty. “So, go.” Tigershark said impatiently, gesturing toward the building they were standing right outside of. He’d take care of the rest of the problem.
Taking a few seconds to contemplate Cuvier’s suggestion to just walk to somewhere safe and wait out the storm that was coming, the common sense part of her brain was yelling at her to take the offer and get out of dodge before the rest of the mooks would return to finish the job.
But for Kayley common sense at times was suppressed by her stupid whims and desires to ‘prove’ herself in the eyes of others, even someone she didn’t give a rats ass about in Cuvier. This guy acted like she didn’t matter, and he was wrong, dead wrong, and she was going to stand her grown in a childish attempt to prove it.
’If I hide now, those men will eventually realize that I’m gone.‘ she replied, stepping closer to the man trying to get through his thick skull. ’When they do, they’ll split up and just keep you busy and send people after me directly.‘ she posed, sounding reasonably assured of herself in her reasoning.
Any trained individual would undoubtedly try such a strategy, because even Kayley knew that this Atlantean was much more of a danger to them than Kayley would ever be, and they’d take their chances to sacrifice a few of them so they could get to me unopposed. And she lacked the combat ability, and the powers, to take the fight to armed bad people.
’So you’re not getting rid of me, Alexander. We do this together, it’s the best chance both of us got.‘ Kayley exclaimed, making clear she wasn’t going to accept any sort of answer from the guy.
She might be a nuisance to him just as much he was to her, but the best way to both walk out unscathed was just getting over their issues and doing what had to be done.
