El!
El has been with the site for nearly two years now and has continued to prove her value. Currently, she is heading up our site event, Battle for Liberterram, on top of keeping up with her own personal plots.
CHARACTER
SPOTLIGHT
Peggy Carter!
Lux's posts are all wonderful to read. She has done a wonderful job of grasping the new universe and incorporating Peggy into it.
CHARACTER
SPOTLIGHT
Peter Parker!
It's good to see Spidey back on the site. Watching him deal with the universe shift in his own snarky way has been nothing short of entertaining.
THREAD
SPOTLIGHT
Eight O'Clock on the Dot!
El and Lux are making magic in this thread. Straight up fireworks, and the way they've played with drawing out the reveal is top class.
She woke slowly, the soft beeps of medical equipment her only clue that she wasn't actually dead, though she felt like it. Her eyelids felt heavy and difficult to open, almost like they'd been sewn shut. Jubilee grunted, shifting her body carefully beneath the thin, unfamiliar hospital sheets.
Well, she wasn't at Xavier's, that was for damn sure. After some impressive bothering of Hank, the loveable blue furball had broken down and gotten nicer blankets for the medlab. The ones that were currently covering her, however, felt more like sandpaper.
One of the gently beeping machines began to beep louder and faster, which spurred Jubilee into forcing her eyes open with a loud groan. Her blue orbs squinted, the harsh hospital lighting not doing her slightly throbbing head any favors. She tilted her head to the side.
She wasn't sure exactly who she was expecting, but it certainly wasn't Kayley, using her gift on the heart monitor Jubilee was hooked up to and making the screen play something like... Tetris? Seriously? She snorted softly, blinking slowly as she took in her friend's appearance.
She didn't look great, obviously, especially since the last time she'd seen Kayley the younger girl had saved her from being strangled, despite her own injuries. She didn't know what else Kayley had been through since then, but there was no possible way it was good. At least she was upright, which was more than Jubilee could say for herself. Her friend was seated at her bedside, humming to herself while playing her little game and munching on...
Oh, hell no.
Jubilee turned her head to the other side, spying a tray of rather unappetizing looking, standard hospital food: rubbery chicken, carrots, a cup of water, and an empty spot with e crumpled up foil pudding lid next to it.
I can get a little drunk, I get into all the donts But on good days I'm charming as fuck
Kayley had been up and about for quite a while, she had awoken a few hours ago and she’d annoyed the hell out of nursing staff and doctors alike, enough to allow her to get out of bed and roam about instead of being forced to sit on her ass all day looking at other sick people be sick.
Her injuries weren’t anything to scoff at, though. Four shattered ribs, a bruised lung, and more cuts and scrapes than someone who’d been in a life-sized tumble dryer. Going through an alien invasion wasn’t exactly something she wanted to experience for another time, really, she wasn’t a fighter and would prefer to cower in safety or go out of the state until the dust settled.
Roaming around she eventually stumbled on a familiar face, Jubilee had been admitted to the same hospital and even though she was still doing her best Asian snow white impression, she had parked herself next to her friend until she woke up out of her beauty sleep.
In the meantime, she kept herself entertained with the only way she could. That was abusing her powers to repurpose a heart monitor to play games, in this case it was Jubilee’s monitor that was the victim of it.
After a few hours or so, she finally heard her friend stir. ”It’s butterscotch…” her eyes lit up and a big smile followed, scooping up the last scrape of pudding and tossing the remains of the cup and spoon into a small trashbin. ”… But good morning to you too, sleepy head.”

"Oh, you brat," she sighed, wincing as she pulled herself into an upright position. "You know butterscotch is my favorite."
Her bandages were tight across her chest, but loose enough that she could at least breathe comfortably... well, as comfortable as one could be with multiple internal injuries. She reached out and grabbed Kayley's hand, squeezing it tightly.
"Hugs are gonna hurt both of us way too much right now, but you don't know how happy I am to see you. As soon as we're all healed up, I'm tackling you when you least expect it."
Jubilee squeezed her friend's hand one more time before releasing it, glancing back at her heart monitor. The beeps were still very rapid, too quick to even pretend they were normal. "Dude, maybe cool it on the tech before the nurses think I'm dying from cardiac arrest?" Her tone was light and joking. As annoyed as those nurses would be if they burst through the door, it may just be worth it.
She shifted once again, the lingering pain in her side not as bad as it had been before. But whether that was the medicine currently dripping into her veins or the small stretches her previously prone body was experiencing was anybody's guess. Jubilee sighed, spying a chart hanging off the edge of her hospital bed. She scooted forward, stretching her arm just enough to hook her finger under the chart and swing it onto her lap.
Her sapphire eyes pored over the words written, some too unclear to read thanks to whatever doctor failed their penmanship tests in elementary school. A few jumped out at her.
Stab wound.
Broken ribs.
Punctured lung.
Concussion.
Multiple lacerations.
"Christ, it's like I hit Battle Wound Bingo," she muttered. "At least I'll have a few new cool scars for my collection."
She was joking again, but this time her voice had an edge to it, as she realized how lucky she'd actually gotten.

”Well you were too busy playing sleeping beauty, so it’s not like you needed the pudding.” she told with a cheeky grin, making sure to rub in Jubilee’s pudding-loss as much as she could.
Looking back at the heart monitor she gave it a firm slap, returning it to its regularly scheduled programming, for the sake of not having the nurses get mad… again. ”You’re no fun, you know that right, Sparkles?” she wasn’t telling it, but it wasn’t the first heart monitor she had fidgeted with, after all there had been a reason she was bored out of her skull in her room… because the nurses had been on her like a hawk after the first few messed up devices.
Rolling the chair closer to where Jubilee was lying, Kayley nabbed the chart and let out a little ‘yoink’ for good measure. Quickly browsing through the file that was listing all that ailed her, slowly whistling at the length of the document. ”Typical Jubilee, trying to upstage everyone even when it comes to nearly getting killed by evil giant killer aliens.” purring as she dropped her onto the bed-in-name-only… Her ratty couch was better than what this hospital was rocking.
”I guess even a mighty X-Man doesn’t stack up against an alien invasion.” she teased with a smile.
