It's good to see Spidey back on the site. Watching him deal with the universe shift in his own snarky way has been nothing short of entertaining.

Despite having seen it coming, Thanos’ strike had still caused The Mighty Thor to leave his feet and be launched a ways off into the distance. In a daze he had to witness his father be gobbled up as if the man had been merely a snack for the pet of the Mad Titan. A wave of emotions erupting in the second Odinson, he knew he couldn’t strike with his hammer being thrown an even further distance than he had been. So he had to stand and hope his brothers could hold the fort until he was back in the fight.
’Baldr, Loki… Do not let the beast strike you!’ he yelled loudly at his brothers.
In a final act of greatness his father assisted in stopping the grand beast with the help of Baldr striking it from the outside. Yet his other brother Loki simply stood petrified, unable to move or assist in any way, fear or something much worse having taken control over all his senses.
In the distance he could hear his hammer chime, it was a matter of time before he was reunited with Mjölnir and could finally stop an end to all the madness. And Thor smiled lightly as Loki finally seemed to show some life and was ready to join in the fight to stop Thanos.
But that smile quickly vanished, the Trickster instead moved in a straight line for Baldr, and just as quickly the knife had been jammed straight into the side of the other Odinson. Happiness turned into fear and anger, his hammer arriving but simply much too late.
’Loki, No!’ he shouted at the top of his lungs, fear mixing with anger, he flung Mjölnir as hard as he had ever flung to close the gap between him and his brothers.
Arriving, Loki sat kneeled with Baldr in his arms already having exhaled his final breath. With little care for his remaining brother he threw him aside, and held Baldr in his arms a final time, letting out a roar of anger and disbelief at the act of treachery the Trickster had pulled. Thor had always feared Loki would yet again let his evil side return, but he had never believed him to be capable of murdering his own family.
’Loki… what did you do?!’ he glanced up whilst still cradling his perished brother, his anger for a second having completely vanished and been replaced by disbelief and grief.
Putting Baldr on the ground, Thor said a few small things before calling Mjölnir back into his hands, turning around to face Loki, filled with disbelief and anger, prepared to make sure the Trickster never betrayed anyone ever again.
MINI EVENT | Words: 500 | Notes: You can say Thor is a tiny bit angry…
I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping
There was an empty feeling in his soul, a lack of an emotion that he could not place. It was possible that it was love, but as he had not felt such a thing in a very long time, Loki had a hard time figuring if that was what suddenly was missing. Baldr was already feeling cool to the touch and even though he was locked in his own mind, the trickster was in shock.
Thor tossed him aside and Loki skidded to a halt a few feet away. It was Thor's sudden burst of anger that really brought the true Loki to the surface. He never would have killed his brother had if not been for Thanos and the thread of control he held over him. He never would have even thought of such a betrayal. There was a flare of anger and Loki broke free of the Mad Titan's control, blocking him out of his mind permanently. “You! You did this!” Loki exclaimed, glaring at Thanos before turning back to his brothers.
He could never apologize for this, nor did he imagine that he could ever be able to redeem himself for this wrong doing. That left little options for him to decide.
Loki felt the power surge, and knew in that moment what he was to do. Rising slowly to his feet, the power he'd felt flowed through him, an old friend reacquainting itself. Oh yes, thus would do well. One last look at Thor, he mumbled an apology before looking towards Thanos, a powerful glint in his eye. This was going to be the biggest ‘in your face’ moment he would ever perform.
Collecting the power in his core, Loki willed himself into nonexistence. It started with a spark, and soon there was smoke and sparks coming from every part of him until it seemed like an entire firework display was going off. The blinding lights exuding from the trickster were being aimed in Thanos’ direction, clearly meant as an attack. Moments later, where Loki once stood, there was a very loud explosion, filled with a blinding flash of green and all that was left was a cloud of green tinged smoke, and the faint smell of ash.
am i not thanos? is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?
The Trickster's aim was true, and the blade slid home into Baldr's chest easily; such a small weakness, but Thanos knew that the Prince's family would regret it for eternity in their afterlife. The shine of the Aesir's light faded quickly and he failed to struggle against Loki in any way. This was far easier than he had anticipated. Thor's pain was palpable at that point as he flung himself to his brother's side and Thanos let out a booming laugh as the Thunderer clung to the younger demigod's form. It was far too late for his brother to reverse what had been done, as Thanos was certain the Shining brother's soul had already departed for Helheim.
The attack's perpetrator was the next target of Thor's anger, as he turned to Loki with fire in his eyes. Thanos could happily watch the two take each other out now. Then the Trickster was turning towards him instead of the next target and Thanos shook his head. "No, Trickster. This was your hand," he smirked, attempting to reinforce his hold on the Jotnar's mind.
It slipped. This was the first time such a thing had happened to the Titan, and he struggled to re-attempt the control while he felt the Jotnar's anger building, and with it his magic. It grew and grew and Thanos erected a shield, but the eventual blast was too powerful, ripping through the shield as it destroyed both the Jotnar's form and the area around them as it hit him harder than any attack had in centuries. Thanos grit his teeth as pain shot through him; pain he had not felt in so long. It was terrible and it gripped his core and ripped a scream from his throat.
Panting in the aftermath of the attack, Thanos gripped his chair tightly. He was injured. Midgard was not the easy target he had thought. He needed to regroup...
Sending out a call for his troops to withdraw home, Thanos' own throne also began an ascent to the skies and beyond. He would return to crush these creatures into submission, but first he needed to figure out how such a useless creature had been able to fight off his hold and injure him.
And the Norns chant: Brothers will fight and kill each other, sisters' children will defile kinship. It is harsh in the world, whoredom rife --an axe age, a sword age --shields are riven-- a wind age, a wolf age-- before the world goes headlong. No man will have mercy on another.
Ragnarok will echo through Yggdrasil, bringing with it destruction, chaos, and death.
@thor - Your post ends this thread! BEGIN THE RETREAT!
After the smoke cleared, there had been nothing… Loki had hit Thanos with every single ounce of his being, and it had dented the invincible looking titan, but it had not stopped him. Thanos had simply retreated, no doubt looking to prepare a strike in the future, a bigger and more brutal one than anyone could even faintly imagine.
The mightiest men of Asgard had stood up, and all but one had fallen to the coming of Ragnarok, as hard as they fought Baldr’s premonitions had all came true, nothing they had done had changed a single thing.
His brother Loki had given his life to stop Thanos, his brother Baldr had done the same, just as his father Odin. Yet he was still standing, and the mad titan was still a danger to all the realms.
The only thing he felt was emptiness inside, he had lost it all in one day, and he had been unable to stop Thanos from taking away nearly everyone he held dear to himself. He needed to be stronger, more capable, more prepared the next time because if he failed the next time there would be nothing left standing for anybody, Thanos would have his victory or he would die trying, and he had to be the one to make sure the latter would happen.
Dropping his shoulders in defeat, he turned to look at Baldr lying dead on the ground, the only one he could bring back home to Frigga, the only one whom they could give its body a final rest amongst the ancestors.
Moving towards his brother, he took him in his arms, suppressing every urge to break down mentally and physically, he had to stay strong even if there was nobody to see him, that had always been his role, he had always had to be strong even when the world around him fell apart, even if nearly everyone he cared for perished around him.
He was the lord of Asgard now, he had never wanted the title, that title should’ve gone to Baldr, but it was not to be. Fate had decreed that it wasn’t going to happen, and there was nothing Thor could’ve done about it.
