Eight O'Clock on the Dot!
El and Lux are making magic in this thread. Straight up fireworks, and the way they've played with drawing out the reveal is top class.
There's not much time to clean up. It's all of a day before the skies cloud over with even more of the attacking aliens, in larger bulk this time. Exhausted and worn as they are, the heroes of the city band together to fight yet again...
A thunderstorm has come in with the arrival of the Atlanteans, filling the air with rain and lightning. The unearthed Reaver ship is in orbit at this point, brought by the Svartalfar on Earth, and battling the enemy ships in orbit.
Event thread should take priority over other threads.
You will have three days to post once its your turn. If you miss, the next person can post. If you miss twice, your character may receive a more serious injury that will disqualify them from further phases.
You may not control enemies in this thread, as there is only Thanos, who is played by the Mini Event account.
You may not control Loki in this thread, as he will be played by the Mini Event account.
You may control Odin Allfather, who will be played among both player characters and the Mini Event account.

Destruction was singing in the air. Thanos reveled in the sounds of the last stand of Terra; soon the world would be his and then with that foothold in the Allfather's beloved Nine Realms, he could take the rest of them. The Infinity Stones called out to him, and he knew that Asgard was hiding at least one of the jewels that was rightfully his. The rest of them would come in time, and then his gauntlet would be complete again and soon after he could take his rightful place as the Ruler of all the worlds. The Terrans had proven more trouble than Thanos had expected; they were far more resourceful than he'd originally believed, but his armies would overrun their cities, starting with their greatest resistance in this New York. The place of Loki's failure would be the place of his ultimate triumph.
The battle was already under way when his chair came down into the planet's atmosphere, and he surveyed the chaos of the city with a sadistic smirk on his face. Things were going exactly as planned, except... well, he had not expected the Allfather himself to show his face here on Terra. Thanos' smirk widened nonetheless, as this changed nothing except that he would secure the old man's death before he had originally intended. All of Terra would watch as the King of their ancient gods fell to his hand, and they would despair.
The Allfather's one-eyed gaze fell on him as he made his way to the ground and Thanos could only look down on him with greed; the Allfather would soon be dead, and everything that was his would belong to Thanos. He could take Terra and Asgard itself all at once.
He let out a booming chuckle, which drew the attention of many more as he let his throne settle in a large area that was perfect for his new throne room. So nice of Terra to leave this large space devoid of their disgusting architecture - if it could even be called such. Yes; it would do quite nicely. His fingers steepled together as he surveyed the battle around him until his gaze caught upon the Allfather himself, who had come to face Thanos directly.
"It seems you wish to die sooner than your useless whelps, Allfather," Thanos smiled, "I would have taken your brats first to watch you despair, but this will do nicely all the same." His voice boomed across the area, amplified by magic to be sure to strike terror into the hearts of all those surrounding.
I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping
Loki had felt the ruminants of Thanos’ control long before he arrived, and as such, he had warned his brothers of his approach. This did not bode well, given the Allfather’s appearance at such a time. The rain pelted down upon them, as Loki peered across the clearing at Thanos. His gut feeling was to dissipate in that moment and never return. That would be cowardly after his promise to help the Midgardians fend off the Mad Titan. As he also promised to turn over a new leaf. Repentance had never been a strong point, bug with Baldr being incessant about his request for it, and Thor babysitting him, it was hard not to.
He glanced briefly at Baldr then Thor, knowing this was the end. This was the day he died. Baldr foretold him of this. Though in much less detail, Loki knew deep down that he was fortuned to die this day. This Central Park, as he had heard it called by many agents, reminded him of Asgard in some regards. The Midgardians deserved such a beautiful place within their grasp.
“Thanos,“ The Allfather replied, staring across from his ground. “It is not I who shall fall this day. Your grip is far from strong. Your own slaves have turned against you.”
Loki's gaze slid to Odin and kept his ground. “Father, we should not be here.” The trickster complained, attempting to persuade his brethren to leave whilst they had the chance. “Thor, you must understand…” He didn't dare elaborate upon the matter, however he could no longer beg his brothers for such an escape, no matter how desperate he sounded. The Allfather held a hand to him in silence. Now was not the time to be stubborn, or proud, Loki argued in his head.
Under the feigned cover of the expansive trees, the view of the fire fight in the sky was not as clear, were it to be in the streets, where he would be far from the grasp of the Mad Titan's grasp upon his thoughts. They could hear it clear as day though. Loki locked eyes with Baldr once more, shaking his head, sad fear lingering in his gaze. “Please. We must depart.“ Loki added quietly.
“Quiet!” Odin demanded, turning his eye to Thanos once more and tilted his head up just slightly to show that he was not backing down. “As the Ruler of the Nine Realms, you are committing many crimes that shall be your demise, Titan. And thus I am condemning you to death.” A good threat, though as of that moment, that was all it was.
Loki knew that, and was sure that Thanos knew as well.

The air around him is heavy with it and he knows, without a single doubt, that his time is here. He wishes that he had more of it; he has made so many friends on Midgard, and there is still so much that his family needs him for, but Ragnarok is clawing at his skin and at his mind, roaring in his ears. It will be soon.
It is Loki who alerts them to the arrival of Thanos, where Baldr has been fighting side-by-side with Thor, and Baldr will not be warned away from his destiny. Cutting down the aliens in his way, Baldr turns his attention to the Titan himself, watching as his Father steps up to the being. The air is humming, and not just from the electricity that came with the storm; every part of Baldr is screaming that this is it; he has seen this day in his dreams since he was but a child and his breath hitches at that thought.
His attention was brought back to reality from the visions of Ragnarok running through his mind as his Father’s voice rang out. Loki seemed to gather his courage in that moment in an attempt to protect them from the Titan, and Baldr’s heart swelled with love for his brother, who had always been so strong. But the Allfather would not listen to this, instead focused on the warlord that had brought battle to this planet.
Resituating his grip on his sword, Baldr looks over at Thor, expression holding sorrow over all the things he wished he could say now, but also a determination in this; to face down the Mad Titan and protect these people of Midgard.
The rumbles of battle filled the air around them, and there were still monsters coming down from the sky; leviathans carrying enemy soldiers and something even more terrifying off in the distance, that Baldr could feel more than see. The Allfather was gathering his power around him, the magic filling the air between them and Thanos. Baldr’s grip on his sword tightened as he stepped forward. “You still have a chance to end this, Titan. Before your armies are slaughtered.” [/style][style=width: 401px; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10px; background-color:#fcf76b; text-align:right; color: #333333;]@thor . The air was filled with a deep boisterous laugh from the mad titan, as it looked down upon the defiant Asgardians standing in between him and the battlefield that was Midgard. Where Thor had often been the one to show confidence even in the darkest moments, even the god of thunder noticed the fear in his brothers’ eyes. The situation was exactly unfolding as Baldr had fortold from his visions, as if fate was laughing at them and making it unequivocally clear that there was no running away, no fighting back against the inevitable.
But Thor had never believed in being bound by fate, and today he was going to make sure Thanos would fall and all of them would stand tall over the mad titan. All realms be damned, he would make sure of it even if it would cost him his own life.
Feeling his hammer crackle slightly in the thunderstorm, he stared at Thanos in full defiance. He would not give him one quarter, he would not be moved from his spot. ’Your games are over Thanos, stop this madness and tell your armies to stand down and face their justice.’ he shouted at the top of his lungs, but he wasn’t sure if it was to scare the titan or whether it was to talk confidence into his own boots.
The rain whipped and buffeted harder by the minute, soaking away his father’s strong features and making even the strongest men seem weaker. But nobody could underestimate the All-Father, he had fought ice giants and saved the realms innumerable times even before Thor had been born. There was no greater warrior than Odin in the entire universe, and old age would not be the master of him this day, Thor was certain of that fact.
’Your plan has failed, Titan. And the champions of all the realms are standing up against your demented reign!’ the All-Father raised his spear Gungnir into the sky as if he was commanding Bor Burison to stand next to them as they would finish the Titan once and for all. ’Either lay down your arms, or perish by our weapons!’
Readying Mjölnir, Thor’s gut feeling told him that Thanos would not lay down his arms and surrender to anyone. The titan was prepared to sacrifice every single soul under his command to win the battle, to defeat the God’s standing in front of him in defiance.
But Thor was ready, this was the battle that would be sung in legend for millennia to come. His moment that would last throughout the ages…
Baldr Odinson | Words: 400 | Notes: Time to get this godly show on the road.
am i not thanos? is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?
Thanos could not help but laugh loudly at the idiocy of the Asgardians. They had already lost; they were just too stupid to realize it as of yet. They could not defeat him and his army, no matter what bluster and bravado they put into it. The rain was coming down quite heavily now, but Thanos easily ignored it. He could see Loki's nervousness and Baldr's fear. He could see Odin's complete ignorance of his own failure. The Allfather would not have his way this day, no matter how much Thor hollered at him.
"My plan has yet to fail, Allfather," he replied, voice still booming loudly across the area, "I will not even need the Infinity Stones to defeat you and all you have gathered here; that is how easy it will be to wipe you and your ilk off the face of this sad, depressing planet."
He could see the Allfather's grimace at that and only laughed yet again.
"Yes, I know that you have one of what is rightfully mine spirited away in your home, and after I am done here," he leaned forward in his chair with a smirk on his lips, "I will go to Asgard and destroy everything in my path as I finally lay hands on it again." Two of his stones were here on Midgard as well, and one hidden away in the roots of Yggdrasil itself. He would collect these and then the others across the universe and then he would conquer it all. No one could stop him.
"You will fail," the Allfather repeated, spear gripped tightly in his hand. Thanos would not be intimidated by his words, however, as he knew that he surely had the upper hand. He was more powerful than a mere Asgardian, or even the four of them gathered in front of him at this moment.
"No, Allfather," Thanos sneered, "I don't believe that I will."
The Titan raised his hand to call down one of the monsters still hovering above the planet. It would take some time to come down to the surface, so in the meantime Thanos called to him some of his power before throwing it towards the group of useless Asgardians, where it would explode with great force and pain for the useless creatures before him.
I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping
This would not go well. Not at all. Loki knew that the minute he had been silenced. They were going to fall. Normally he would cheer for such an event, especially where Odin had a hand in things, but Thor and Baldr her could not risk. Loki truly did love his brothers, even if his actions had not always stated such things.
With Baldr looking full of despair, and Thor on the brink of attack Loki shook his head silently. There was faint whispering then in the back of his mind. And he knew exactly what that was. His eyes locked in the Titan again and took a step back; that had been the plan all along - to spark the prophesy to come to fruition. “Your fight is with me Titan. The others matter not, so leave them be.” Loki demanded, stepping up beside Odin, glaring across the clearing to Thanos.
He could not allow this to go on. If they stayed there would be much worse happenings that Loki wished not to perform if at all necessary. “I know it is I that you seek.” He added, something darker sneaking through in his voice. If he had to, he would initiate the attack to give the others time. Whatever Thanos was planning, it was coming by the look on his face. That smug glare Thanos gave everyone could off put even the kindest of hearts, as he noticed in Baldr.
No.
This would not be his end. The only end would be Loki's. He was certain of this. “This is all because you couldn't keep your grasp on the Stones. Is that all? It seems awfully childish for a creature who claims himself worthy of such power.” Loki was totally prodding him now, looking for a moment to thoroughly distract him.

Unwise to attempt such on a monster such as Thanos, but once his Father and Brothers' minds had been set on something, there was litle one could do to deter that course of action; he had long since learned to not attempt to step in.
In this case, however, it was a matter of life and death. The beginning of Ragnarok still itched under his skin and he knew in his bones that this day would be that. Long had it been foretold, and no matter what he and his family tried here, something in the Universe itself would break today. It made sense that Thanos be the catalyst for such a change, to some degree.
"Loki!" Baldr hissed out as his brother stepped forward in direct challenge of the creature ahead of them. He hovered behind his three other family members, Odin and Loki in the front with Thor only slightly behind them and Baldr himself out of the direct conflict. He would not stand for this any longer; he could not sit back and watch his family sacrifice themselves to the monster. He could tell that Loki's taunts were angled to hit the Mad Titan where it would hurt and to prompt the anger in harsher retribution against himself than against his family. Baldr was glad to know that his brother still wanted to protect his family as such, but that did not change the fact that he would not allow his brother to sacrifice himself in such a way. Baldr knew how this day would end. Loki could not change that, no matter how he tried.
He stepped forward, aside Loki, and straightened to his full height. He allowed his light to surround himself, filling the area with a glow. "My brother is correct; you have no claim over this land, and nor do you have claim over these stones," he said to the Titan, "Where they have gone since they slipped through your fingers is where they are meant to be. No amount of attacks on your side will bring them back to you." The Stones were enigmas in many ways, but anyone that had had any kind of contact with them knew that they had some form of thought to themselves, rudimentary though it may be.
There was a rumble overhead; something large breaking though the atmosphere of the planet, he was certain. Baldr would not tear his eyes from the Titan himself, however. "Midgard will defeat your forces; you will not win this battle."[/style][style=width: 401px; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10px; background-color:#fcf76b; text-align:right; color: #333333;]@thor. Gritting his teeth, the god of thunder was feeling the electricity in the air as the standoff continued between the Asgardians and the Mad Titan. As much as Thor enjoyed posturing, he knew that this would get them nowhere but give Thanos’ forces time to solidify their grasp on the Midgardian cities they were besieging. Every second they would be staring at Thanos was a second they would not be helping their comrades fighting a battle they could so easily lose.
’Father, we need to take action now…’ he knew that flying into the fray half-cocked was a bad idea that would play right into the Titan’s hands, but doing nothing wasn’t an option, there were too many lives at stake. ’…Do not play Thanos’ games, we need to act!’
But his father would not have any backtalk from the former heir of Asgard, instead raising his hand towards his son and staying stern and unwavering. ’Silence Thor, your impudence will do us no favour against Thanos!’ the ruler of Asgard strictly exclaimed, just loud enough for the rest of the Asgardians to hear.
Sighing in frustration, he glanced over at his brothers’, not even Loki -whom often hid his true feelings behind an unbreakable veil of confidence- seemed self-assured at the state of affairs, his cutting words sounded desperate rather than Loki’s usual well thought-out vocal stabs.
And Baldr, he had not been the same since the day had started. Thor knew that whatever he had seen was weighing heavy on his shoulders, perhaps hiding some of the premonitions from his family members.
’If nobody will take action, then I will, I will not stand by seeing Thanos strengthen his position!’ His family members’ inability to take action, and his thoughts going to Jane and the people fighting the invaders, he was simply unable to stand back and let this theatre of posturing continue.
If his father and brothers were too frozen in fear to put a stop to the mad titan, then he would act instead, petty posturing be damned…
am i not thanos? is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?
The Asgardians before him liked to think themselves far more powerful than they were, and they would likely continue fighting until their last breaths; but Thanos was far more powerful than them and their bluster and bravado did not threaten him at all. He was the Titan, master of Death and Destruction, and he would not be stopped in his plans. There was no way for that which had already been set into motion to be halted.
He knew that the trickster would likely be his toughest challenge of them all, so it was rather good fortune that he had already controlled the Jotun before; he could use that to his advantage again and eliminate the biggest potential threat. The others were all brawn, and they would be no match for his power in the end; especially with his beast approaching fast. The Jotun still had a spot of bravery left in him, after all, it seemed, as he tried to draw the Titan's attention away from his adoptive family. It would not work, but it was an amusing sight. "You are of little worry to me, child," he replied to Loki's words, "Asgard and Midgard have had this coming for a long while." He was not so petty as to attack for the reasons that Loki had posited; these worlds and all the so-called Nine Realms were blights upon the galaxy and he would fix that.
The youngest stepped forward, surrounded with a bright light that had Thanos squinting as he looked upon the lower beings before him. The boy's words brought a full chuckle from the titan, and that became a hearty laugh. "You are just as much a fool as your father," he told the boy.
It seemed that the brash thunderer was not content to wait any longer, and as he jumped forward, Thanos' energy bolt hit at him. It would strike the Asgardian with pain and distract him as Thanos' creature arrived. The large thing was bigger still than the Leviathans that carried the Chitauri, with massive teeth and a terrifying disposition. Thanos might be scared of it himself if it did not still pale in comparison to his power. The creature came down with a mighty screech, headed straight for the Allfather himself as he was now separated from all three of the children he'd brought into battle.
Odin turned towards the beast with his spear, Aesir seidr glowing around him as he pulled magic to him to lash out at the beast, but it kept in its mission, opening its great maw until it grabbed the Allfather and swallowed him down. Thanos laughed, great and loud, as his creature ate the Allfather.
I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping
He heard Baldr call for him, and he knew this plan was perhaps not the most thought out. However, if nothing else, Loki thought that it could buy the others some time, if they needed it. Clearly he had been mistaken on that thought though, as both his brothers closed the gap between them. Thor's powerful presence was also known but Loki knew there was something else afoot. Then the roar that came from above them rattled through the sky, and Loki found himself frozen in shock as he looked upon the scene before him.
The monster came down in what seems like hours in the way he was watching it. Then Odin was suddenly gone. With a crunch of bone between the monsters teeth, Loki finally flinched and he turned his gaze back to Thanos, a new fire burning beneath them. Though Odin had not always been find of Loki as Frigga had, he still looked up to the man, in a very small way. He could not understand if this had been part of the Titan's plan, or if it had just been a whim of convenience.
The thought of it mattered not, when something broke in his mind then and he felt the control he'd been so desperate to avoid creep back in. “No, no, no, no, no, no…” He managed, the sound barely above a whisper. He locked eyes with Thanos and knew. The grip curled around his mind, though he was fighting it mentally a lot more than he had ever done before. This could not happen. Not now. Baldr would die, and he knew it.
The control overtook his mind, and though he did not move, Loki was not one of Thanos’ minions once again. The Titan would pay for this one day, that he was certain of.

He couldn't just stand by, and he knew that. There was a loud noise from above and Baldr spun to see his Father facing off with a massive beast. There was a flash of teeth and then suddenly his Father was gone. "Father!" he cried out, his feet taking him forward towards the beast that had just taken Odin from him. They did not always get along, but he was still the Allfather and Baldr could not bear thought of Asgard without him to watch over it.
The beast lunged at him in return as he charged forward, light flashing bright around him, but then the creature stopped with a roar of pain and Baldr was able to gain advantage. As the magic the Allfather had been gathering to him burst from the inside, Baldr's light attacked from outside and the beast was soon writing in pain on the ground. There were tears in Baldr's eyes as he hacked at the beast, wanting nothing more than to keep it down where it could not hurt anyone else. He could feel Thor aside him, though Loki seemed to have not joined in their attack.
Once the beast was no longer an issue and the Titan's gloats had faded from his ears, Baldr turned back to him in anger. "You have far overstepped any boundaries now that you had not already," he called out loudly, the light that was usually a gentle glow lashing out around him. The Titan still seemed more amused than threatened, and Baldr growled low in his throat, anger bubbling under the surface of his skin.
He would not allow this monster to hurt any more people. He would not allow Thanos to win this battle. He would die trying, but he would keep Thanos from destroying this world and his own in the process. am i not thanos? is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?
The golden brothers did not seem to take kindly to their father’s demise, although Thanos himself could not help the mad grin that grew on his face as his beast took care of the Allfather once and for all. There was no need to make much of the man’s demise; he need not lift a finger to take down such a useless old fool. That was what his creatures and slaves and servants were for. Thanos took pleasure in fighting only the best; only those that could perhaps come close to matching his strength and skill. Those creatures were few and far between and the Titan had not faced a challenge in centuries. He was truly unstoppable, even without his Infinity Gems.
He was unbothered by the fact that the Allfather’s sons managed to take down the beast that had eaten their father so quickly, as it did not matter to him. Its purpose here was finished, and he had plenty more troops that would be adequate in dispatching of the Odinsons. They were nothing to him; mere insects that stood in his way.
It seemed that Baldr’s anger had been piqued, enough so that his glow was becoming painful to look upon. Thanos would not lift his own hand to take care of this issue, but he would certainly lift another’s. With a smirk, he reached out to the link he had created long ago in Loki’s mind. The Trickster was good at many things, but he was just as weak-minded as the rest of his brethren and it was quite a simple thing to pull on that now. Thanos had been playing with his thoughts during the approach, and the Trickster knew the one sure way to dispatch the light-god brother of his. Thanos had been sure that he brought it along; a knife crafted of mistletoe.
It would now see its purpose done and the first Odinson would fall. After that, the rest would be easy.
I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping
He was frozen in his spot, whether by Thanos’ control, or not, Loki did not know. What he did know was now he was a prisoner of his own mind once more. He had not enjoyed it last time, and this time was no different. Everything inside of him screamed to get out, to fight back. The hold this time was strong. Possibly stronger than it had been before, and Loki was not sure how he was going to worm his way out of this one.
It was short lived though. His eyes turned to lock onto Baldr, pain and sorrow filling his eyes. The light that his brother emitted was strong enough to normally blind the Trickster, but this time he could not look away. Thanos was using all the power he had and it was a lot more power than Loki remembered it being. Before he could even think he held out his hand and with his magic appeared a knife. Loki knew exactly what this knife was. Mistletoe. It was one of the few things that harmed Baldr, and he realized Thanos’ plan in that instant.
As though on autopilot, Loki closed the gap between himself and his brothers, looking very blank with his expression. Internally, he was pushing to try and regain control of his own body. He could not do what Thanos was wanting him to. Baldr could not die now.
It was like watching the scene all in slow motion. Loki put a hand on Baldr’s shoulder, looking as though he was going to console him for the loss of Odin, but the knife quickly came into Baldr’s side and he pulled the blade up, twisting it to cause the maximum amount of damage. He gathered the other man into his arms and guided them both to the ground. The blade fell from his fingers as he watched the life fade from his brother’s eyes, the warmth and the beautiful glow fading ever so slowly along with it.
It felt like eons, but it was only a matter of moments before the glow finally fizzled out and it seemed that Baldr’s entire being seemed to dull; that was the moment he ceased upon this plane of existence. Once it was finished, Loki regained a small portion of his faculties and scampered backwards, away from the brother he had just murdered. “No…..” Loki breathed, looking up to Thor in horror.
