As the West Coast attack hits its stride, Chitauri have begun an assault on the East Coast as well. With SHIELD having focused the brunt of their strength on the West Coast, it is the heroes left on the East Coast that must take up arms against these forces.
The few SHIELD Agents on this coast are also armed with bullets that contain nanites that should be able to shut down both the biological and electronic systems of the Chitauri at once, they are more prepared for that threat than before, but the Chitauri have brought with them beasts that Earth has not seen before.
You are allowed to control as many enemies, allies, and civilians in your posts as you need to.
Event thread should take priority over other threads.
You will have three days to post once its your turn. If you miss, the next person can post. If you miss twice, your character may receive a more serious injury that will disqualify them from further phases.
Available Enemies:
Chitauri: Garden-variety Chitauri soldiers; the bioweapon crafted by Tony Stark and Bobbi Morse will work to shut them down. They are hive-minded. Armed with Chitauri guns or spears. (Approx. 300)
Leviathan: Large, flying, whale-like creatures built for destruction, the bioweapon is not effective on them due to their size. Armed with teeth and size. (Approx. 3)
Chitlian: Bulked-up Chitauri soldiers that are more machine than biological. The bioweapon will take them down for brief periods, but they do reboot the system. Stronger than regular Chitauri and exempt from the hive-mind. Armed with Chitauri guns and spears. (Approx. 150)
Available Allies:
DC Police: Armed only with their issued weapons, the police will mainly handle crowd control.
National Guard: Armed with the weapons of their trade, the National Guard is attempting to hold down the fort in DC, but could use assistance.
SHIELD Medics: Deployed from those left over in DC to assist with the civilians more than anything, they are not particularly useful for fighting.
SHIELD Field Agents: Deployed from those left over in DC to help take down the aliens, they are armed with the bioweapon in their favorite gun, in addition to a close-quarters weapon.
The attack on the West Coast did its trick. With SHIELD's eye drawn away from home and the Avengers dispatched on the other end of the country, the nation was barely prepared for the attack on the East Coast. Though some of the National Guard was already mobilized for defense purposes, the military is less effectively outfitted for the threat it faces.
The response time of the Capital is admirable. In little to no time at all, emergency sirens are blaring across the city, radio broadcasts are being sent out, and emergency warnings are on every station. People are advised to stay in their homes while the rat-a-tat-tat of gunfire goes on outside, accompanied with distant blasts from tanks. Some jets pass close enough overhead that windows rattle. Some are shaken and burst from the impacts of leviathans against the buildings.
The main attack, unsurprisingly swarms around Capitol Hill and the Smithsonian. While the President and many others were retreated to safety hours ago (as is protocol), many other politicians and citizens' lives hang in the balance.
The army is doing all that it can, but it is steadily losing ground.

Sam Wilson had not been one of the few Agents who had been sent to the West Coast to deal with the attacks there. Instead he had worked steadily from home base to provide as much support as he could. He was fairly decent with logistics if he did say so himself, having learned it in the army, and figured he would do what he could to make himself useful.
And then the 2nd wave came in. The Chitauri had been much more clever than he would have given them credit for. With their attacks on the West Coast in various, well populated areas, they had managed to pull the Nation’s best and brightest away from the Capital, leaving it more vulnerable than it had been before. Then while the world had been watching the destruction hundreds of miles away, they struck, catching them by surprise.
They were already stretched thin on man power so it was all hands on deck. Donning his Exo-7 Sam quickly took to the skies. ”There’s a group coming up on your left flank!” He called to the group below through the coms. ”About 40 feet away but closing in hot.” He had been paying to much attention to the incoming group that he hadn’t noticed the leviathan who had swooped past him. The motion sent Sam of kilter and he did a quick tumble through the air before he got his bearings again.
”Rude,” He muttered landing near the rest of the group. His wings retracted back into the exo-suit the moment his feet touched the earth. Reaching into his belt he slipped his modified weapon from the holster he’d stored it in.
”Ready boys and girls? Alright, let’s go kick some alien ass!”

Fun fact about Congress? Apparently it didn't like to do tours while the country was under attack. Go fuckin' figure. Still, as much as Al couldn't blame them she was pretty majorly disappointed. Finally she had some real downtime while on tour to make use of and she was inside the US's Capital. For a former politician-in-training, it was a pretty fucking big deal and the opportunity to see a bunch of old white dudes argue over sub-paragraph 23 of a bill was a lot more exciting to here than it had any right to be.
But okay, fine. The Chitauri chose today to invade. She could deal with that. And she was pretty sure that Jay was damn ecstatic not to have to hear the conference of said old white dudes. So they were moving all around Capitol Hill just minding the sights while Al freaked and started talking miles a minute about the history of the place when the Chitauri showed up in DC.
Fan-fucking-tastic. No, literally. The fact that they'd blown her own trip to Congress for the next however long (probably a long ass time with the way her schedule was) meant she was itching for a little payback. And her Mama Bear instincts were kicking into overdrive. People in danger. People in danger. It was like the voice of that robot from Lost in Space going off in her brain.
Right. She was going to save some politicians.
Once she and Jay had gotten the other bandmates off to safety and basically directed everyone else to the soldiers that were clearing the streets and taking people to bunkers, Al muscled past the men in uniform and decided to stick her nose where it didn't belong. Before things got too heavy, some soldiers started trying to dive at her to get her off the streets, but that wasn't a problem.
Bwoom! The first tank shell that went off rattled straight into her. Then there were a lot of them that mixed with the rat-a-tat-tat of gunfire, the whirring of helicopters, the screams of soldiers shouting back and forth, and the screeching of the treads of the tank. Within the matter of a few moments when full battle erupted she was overcharged. Her body was damn near giddy with energy and she felt juiced in ways she'd never been before. It was so much that light began to permeate her skin, until she was little more than a soft, constant glow that obfuscated her features.
"Jay?" Her voice traveled on a soundwave she directed. While she couldn't use sounds she made for her powers she could use her powers to direct them. "Keep close t'me, babe. Things're gonna get heavy." And she wanted to be able to protect her bassist. "An' just in case, think y'can feed me a constant sound?" She doubted she'd need it. Holy hell did she doubt she'd need it given the serious wattage going for her living lightbulb self, but just in case.
An unseen disc of ultraviolet light lifted her up into the air as she propelled herself through the skyline faster and faster like a firefly from hell. Emitting about a hundred times more ultraviolet light than regular light on some kind of hunch, Chitauri and Chitlians found it damn uncomfortable to look her way, even as they tried to blast her out of the sky.
Hell yeah!
The singer snapped hard light around her, sending blasts of energy sparking against an opalescent barrier. And then, the counterpoint. A dozen glowing orbs began to form around her, increasing in size and brightness before they fired off into lasers that not only hit their intended targets, but sliced them in half. Chitlians and chariots were neatly bisected and rained down from the sky like an over the top gore flick.
Sound. More and more sound. Damn she felt good!
Alternating between firing off lasers and deflecting attacks her way, her right hand remained dedicated to gathering a massive, glowing ball of light which kept growing in size until it was roughly about as big as a beach ball. Flying through the air toward the Leviathan, she waited until the thing bore down on her despite its obvious discomfort and opened its jaws, tossing the thing into its gullet with a look of triumph.
"Eat this!"
@jay Dazzler's about 500% OP in a battlefield situation. If you guys need her to take out anything, just send things her way. Also Sam can get her attention if need be--her hearing for normal pitches is pretty fantastic since she can perceive individual soundwaves well. She'll probably answer to Firefly/Glowstick right now. XD
Another alien invasion had taken place, but since Bedazzled was in DC which hadn’t been targeted, everything seemed to be progressing as normal, though Ali had been upset that Congress had shut down in light of the news and footage of the attacks on the coastline. That was definitely not good, but it looked like SHIELD and the Avengers were handling it.
Jay was silently thankful for that part of the invasion, because as political as Ali had made him become over the years, he was still not all that thrilled watching documents be argued about, and the legal jargon would begin to make his eyes glaze over eventually, before being poked by Ali to pay attention. He’d also taken this time to check in with the rest of the Guthrie clan, even knowing that his three X-men trained siblings and the others that were back on the homestead were not people to be worried about. He was sure at least some of the other bandmates were also relieved to not be dragged over to watch Congress debate as well.
Honestly, he was mostly concerned about Elizabeth and Joelle, but they seemed fine where they were, so there was nothing more that they could do. At least they could see the sights in DC, which would be pretty awesome in Jay’s opinion. They’d been moving about Capitol Hill with tour guide of politics Ali giving the band a background in the history of said sites when the skies darkened and the Chitauri forces began to attack the Capitol itself.
It was chaos, and the screams of people in danger had the group springing to action. Both Jay and Ali made sure the rest of the band was taken care of and settled into safety, it was action time. Ali was powerful in her own right, and Jay had some useful abilities in this situation. Regardless, they were definitely the band members that could handle invading aliens, since they were more than human.
People were directed to the soldiers clearing the streets and getting them to the underground shelters, and once the streets were clear, Ali moved to muscle past the soldiers before Jay could even try and help out. Of course, he went with her. He was not as hassled, because all he did was use the one ability he didn’t care for, but the army needed to help the civilians. He and Ali could help take out the aliens.
Besides he couldn’t let Ali go by herself. “Move.” Jay said, and the soldiers complied with the order, and didn’t try to stop Jay from pressing forward. He reached Ali, trying to keep the diving soldiers off of her before the first tank shell went off. And then Ali started glowing, very brightly from Jay’s perspective because he could see in the UV spectrum up to a point. “Yer glowing. Ah’ve never seen ya glow before.” Jay said in reaction to her voice.
He nodded and answered her. “Ah got yer back, Ali.” He replied. “Sure, but Ah don’ think yer gon’ need it.” Jay answered. He’d left his guitar back with the band, but Jay wasn’t a singer for nothing. To the normal people, Ali just floated up in mid-air, though Jay could see the disk she was using. His wings popped out of his back, ripping through his shirt and he flew off after her, flipping his sunglasses down when he saw how bright she was glowing.
He kept pace with the woman, and from the sky and next to Ali, one could hear the entire opera group of O Fortuna being sung, but this was another perk of Jay’s vocal manipulation abilities. The Chitauri and beefier Chitauri tried to blast her out of the sky, but their shots were going wild as her bright glow was obviously uncomfortable for them to look at. A shot or two did graze Jay, and man that hurt. “Arrgh, ah’ll be fine, let’s jus’ keep goin’” Jay said, and the blistered flesh was beginning to reknit itself back to working order, already repairing the damage he’d taken.
Being a regenerator came in damn handy indeed, especially in situations like this. Ali made a shield barrier and then fired light beams out of the shields and sliced the Chitauri in half. Wow, that was impressive as all get out, and gore rained down from the sky. While not particularly violent, the Chitauri were horrible invading aliens that didn’t care about the Earth at all, so he didn’t feel too much sympathy for them. If any at all.
“Huh. New album cover idea?” Jay mentioned, before he continued on with O Fortuna. Ali continued to deflect attacks coming their way, while generating a really big orb of light. Once it was the size of a beach ball, she flew toward the Leviathan itself, and Jay followed from a distance. The thing turned to face her, and groaned ominously as it slowly charged toward her, even though it too was uncomfortable with her bright glow, before chucking the orb of light into its Maw.
Jay kept an eye out, hoping to find some people other than the military around. Where were...oh right. On the OTHER coast, fighting the aliens there. Looked like it was up to him and Ali (Mostly Ali) to save the Capitol. After this, Congress should probably let her visit whenever she wanted.
This is gospel for the fallen ones locked away in permanent slumber Assembling their philosophy from pieces of broken memories Oh oh oh oh oh oh This is the beat of my heart Gnashing teeth and criminal tongues conspire against the odds but they haven't seen the best of us yet If you love me, let me go If you love me, let me go Cause these words are nice enough to leave scars for fear of falling apart And truth be told I never was yours for fear for fear of falling apart Oh oh oh oh oh This is the beat of my
This was so not how she wanted her first full on mission to start. Kate thought for sure they wouldn’t even let her out in the first, but given the fact that she was included in the ‘all hands on deck’ order she was shipped off to DC with a couple handfuls of agents. They were filled in on the fact that the military weren’t suited for this kind of attack. She’d been given arrow tips filled with the bioweapon thing SHEILD concocted, but she was also issued a handgun with the same rounds. Even if she didn’t like guns, she knew it would come in handy.
Upon getting to the ground, and already having her comm filled with instructions, she headed to one of the buildings to get some high ground so she could start pegging off the Chitauri with arrows. “Going up high, I’ll see if I can clear a path.” Two others seemed to take off to the skies and she definitely found herself a bit jealous. Flying would be so much faster! “Someone wanna give me a lift?” She asked, slightly hopeful, actually. If she could get up to a good vantage point before shit got worse, that would be so much easier.
Before she got too far from the main group though, she had to skid to a full stop and quick fire off five arrows to take out Chitauri blocking her path. “Ew.” She mumbled when she noticed how ugly they actually were. But the arrows took them out quick enough, and she retrieved the shafts so she could reload them with new tips when she had a second. The very loud version of O Fortuna caught her ear and she looked up. “What the hell is that?” She asked into the comms, to see if anyone had eyes on where the light show and the soundtrack was coming from.
Forty-five thousand feet in the air, on the outer edge of D.C., Flash stared out of an open jet at the warzone below. He'd been sent ahead to D.C. in response to the attacks on the West Coast - while the superheroes were off fighting for some of America's gem cities, Flash was to protect the precious politicians. Which, hey, some of them were cool, but Flash wasn't a big politics person; at the same time, though, he was a soldier, and he had his orders. Those orders changed, though, when the Chitauri actually did show up in D.C. It became clear that their attacks weren't going to be such isolated incidents this time around.
A buzzing in his ear from the pilot let him know it was time to jump, and Flash's heart was pounding despite his sedation. He'd never jumped without a chute before, and in fact he'd never jumped out of a plane before - but hey, first time for everything had been his motto lately. He didn't so much jump, as he did lean forward until gravity no longer held him inside the plane. Tendrils from the symbiote grabbed the pistols that would usually form his multi-gun and moved them into his grip. He felt like he was living inside some kind of video game, honestly - but this was real life, and he had to focus.
Heightened reflexes helped him pick out targets - chariots raced through the air, and each of them had a driver. When he could get a shot off at the right angle, and the right timing, he fired: bullets whizzed through the heads of several invaders as he neared the ground, sending some Chariots careening off-course. Once he was low enough to have buildings to anchor his webbing to, he tucked one of his pistols away, using the now-free hand for some good old-fashioned (or new-fashioned, for him) web-slinging. He moved through the warzone, picking off Chitauri as he went - he was already getting a symbiote-induced headache because of the tanks and the gunfire. Usually, he'd be more excited about all of this - but the gravity of it set in pretty quickly. People were dying, and he had to focus to keep them alive, and with all this damned noise he had to focus to keep the symbiote from overriding his own actions.
He rounded a corner and started to swing lower, making his way to the ground. He spotted a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and decided that he'd best group up with them. If anyone would have a real game-plan for this situation, it would be S.H.I.E.L.D. Not that the DHS and Project Rebirth hadn't planned for this, but... Well, Flash sort of was their plan, and damn if he knew what the heck to do strategically in an alien invasion. Give him extremists in a desert, he was a soldier that apparently warranted recruitment into a secret super soldier program. But this? Flying whales, energy weapons, and he was wearing a living alien suit - it all just seemed a bit out of his depth.
Of course, one of the agents he came upon didn't seem to have it all together either. Was she using a bow and arrow? Seriously? Hey, maybe it worked for Hawkeye, but shouldn't a super-spy in training have an actual gun? He touched ground next to the agent and decided to lend a hand, or at least offer it - pulling his other pistol back out and clicking it together with his current one to put the multi-gun into its assault mode, turning to be back-to-back with the archer, with room of course for her to use her bow. He fired off at Chitauri troops in rapid succession, going for headshots if he could help it. "Hey, Hawk-lite, you got a real weapon, or is S.H.I.E.L.D. going low-tech?"

Was that? Sam cocked his head slightly as that would let him hear things better. Yup, he was hearing someone belt out the lines to ‘O Fortuna’. An odd but none the less appropriate song choice for the day. At least, the tone of it was. Come to think of it, Sam had no idea what the words to the song actually were. Wasn’t it Italian or something? While it was unlikely, for all he knew the song could be about picking daffodils in the field.
Like he said, highly unlikely. Though if it was true it would be highly entertaining.
”I got you Hawkeye!” Sam called launching into the air. Only he wasn’t able to head over in her direction right away. His quick ascension caught the attention of one of the Leviathans who was more than happy to come check out what Sam was going.
”Uh, oh. This can’t be good.” Twisting in the air Sam shot a few bullets at the creature only to get no reaction. ”Of course this one would be special,” He remarked to no one in particular. ”Giant flying whale and I’m over here thinking a tiny bullet will take it down. Probably didn’t more than make it itch.”
Annoyed Sam took off like a shot. Well if he couldn’t kill it with the weapons he had on him maybe he could lose it until he came up with a backup plan. Or maybe just back up. Figuring the creature might be stymied by a building or two, much like horses balked at fences, Sam twisted sideways and flew between two buildings that were close together. The Leviathan didn’t care. It’s huge mouth opened in a screech before it plowed into the structures sending giant chunks of plaster, concrete and glass everywhere.
Okay, not a good plan.
And he really, really hoped the building had been evacuated earlier.
Sam zipped off flying erratically. Zipping to the left, then quickly to the right. The Leviathan eagerly followed after him. Hmm that gave him an idea. Shooting straight up Sam few as high as he could go before promptly switching into a nosedive. Tucking his wings in he shot at the ground at an alarming rate.
”Hold it steady, hold it steady....” He muttered to himself, trying to to lose his nerve as the ground came rushing ever closer to his face. A quick glance over the shoulder showed the flying whale had also sped up to prevent his prey from escaping from him. Good. ”NOW!” He shouted and pressed the button that unfurled his wings. The extra surface area acted a bit like a parachute, stopping his alarming decent and allowed him to steer off safely to the right. The leviathan however had not been expecting the sudden change in trajectory and slammed hard onto the pavement. The massive impact caused cracks to to form in the road the massive beast had just dove into.
Not sure if the creature was dead or simply stunned Sam made a hasty exit. He was going to have to see what sort of cool toys he could find to help him better combat the bastards. ”Still need that lift?” He asked Hawkeye in the comms. ”I’m coming to you,” If she needed the lift he would gladly fly her up to the vantage point of her choosing.

"Haven't glowed since Junior High," Al threw him a bright grin. Literally, bright. More light shone out of her eyes, mouth and nose than anywhere else, and flashing her pearly whites was light shining a high-powered bulb straight into someone's eyes. Seeing him grimace, she frowned, which was the last visible expression she made before the glow white-out all of her features. "Sorry. Just treat me like the sun an' try not t'stare at me directly," turning back around, she hoped that her clothes were killing some of the glow so poor Jay's retinas weren't frying.
"Nothin' wrong with a little overkill." She replied to Jay's statement about not needing her backup. "Goes double for evil alien conquerors." And she kinda lived by the policy of 'better safe than sorry' where innocent lives went. ... though she wasn't really sure where the politicians fell on that scale.
Seeing Jay fly to the side and just a bit back out of her peripherals, the rock star gave a broad grin when the soundtrack started up. O Fortuna, huh? Little obvious, and not the tempo she wanted, but definitely appropriate! "Dramatic opera music? Check. Think that covers all'a our epic battle needs. Thanks, Jay." Everything went quicker with music. Hopefully obliterating invading aliens wouldn't be any exception.
Hearing Jay cry out in pain, Al twisted to the offending alien, using his shout to funnel a blast from her diaphragm that was so wide the spread of light was like a cannon and blew through that Chitauri plus a few more... and a few more... until it stopped some hundred feet behind them. Shit! She was more juiced than she thought! She hadn't meant for the attack to be that wide. Or go that far... "You damn well better be! I'll be pissed if you try an' pull any macho bullshit an' end up bleedin' out."
... Huh. That wasn't a half bad idea for an album cover. She'd file that away and consider mentioning it to the manager once they were done with the whole... rebuffing an invasion thing.
But they were making damn good progress. After the Leviathan swallowed the ball of light, she snapped her fingers as if they were linked to an invisible detonator. As soon as her fingertips slid apart, the light in the back of its throat burst. Small, short-lived lasers split out in every direction as the main mass expanded slow, and then all at once, ripping through the Leviathan with enough force that the thing exploded. Small chunks of Leviathan, Chitauri, Chitlian, chariot and armor rained down from the sky, with gore splattering against the sides of buildings.
Throwing up the barrier before the wave of carnage could hit her, she prevented her and Jay from getting bogged down in alien gunk.
"Think I like that idea for an album cover even better." She responded looking at Jay only briefly before she turned back to the battle. Seeing a collection of Chitauri on chariots headed for a group of soldiers, Al outstretched her palm, kept her fingers fully extended and pressed tight together, and swept her hand through the air. A long blast of light followed the track of her palm, cutting through the aliens on the first pass over.
Ali was shining extremely brightly, enough so that it hurt his eyes to stare at her overly long, even after he’d pulled down his sunglasses. He was still aware of her presence, though, even after he had to look at her via peripheral vision and simply sensing her nearby. “S’okay. Least ya can turn yer vision on an’ off.” Jay replied. Usually, there wasn’t too much of a downside to being able to see in the UV spectrum. Today was a little different. “Always a good thing, Ah think.” Jay said in response to the evil alien conquerors bit.
Besides, they needed to help people, since SHIELD and the armed forces were stretched thin and it looked like whoever was in charge of the Chitauri this time wasn’t stupid enough to have them be concentrated on one city; from what Jay had gleaned from the battle of New York and this current one going on, the Chitauri were none too bright. They just seemed to attack whatever was in their way, and there wasn’t a thought about tactics in their heads it seemed.
Just sheer overwhelming numbers. “No problem!” Jay’s voice said next to her, even while the opera was still going. “Ah also take on requests!” Jay mentioned with a grin, though he was aware that Ali wouldn’t be able to see it. “Ah’d say so. Can’t have any sorta battle without music, after all.” Jay added, still joking slightly. Hopefully they’d be able to take out their numbers before they started damaging national landmarks too much.
“Yes’m.” Jay said. “Though ah thought you knew, ah’m a more sensitive soul.” He said, joking once more. He couldn’t help it, the joking. It made things seem a lot better than they currently were, in terms of alien invasion of Earth. Besides, Jay was not the best person to take on more than say, one, Chitauri in a straight up fight. At least with strength alone, anyway.
He also didn’t have any weapons beyond a small pocket knife, so that option was out. Just had to hope his regenerative abilities kept him going if he got hit again. However, his body had already recovered from the energy beam weapon, leaving only the fried and missing cloth from his shirt as the only evidence he’d even been struck in the first place.
As Ali reacted from him being hit, she fired a cannon like thing made of light that obliterated a line of Chitauri. Wow. It was just amazing how ridiculously powerful Ali was right now. The Chitauri and Chitlians still flinched away from her, most of them starting to drift down toward the army and away from the light that Ali was emitting. Sticking close to Ali as she threw the beach ball of light down the Leviathan’s throat, what followed could only be described as impressive.
Ali snapped her fingers as soon as the large beast swallowed the object, and the sphere pretty much exploded the creature from the inside out, and more gore fell upon...well, everything. Buildings, and the army...and police and probably shield agents. Only Ali and him came out of it scot free, since she’d thrown up a barrier to protect them at the last moment.
“Well, it does have that ‘end of the world’ look to it.” Jay replied, changing the song from O Fortuna to something else for a moment. Going with epic soundtracks seemed best, so Jay switched to a very familiar song, from Conan the Barbarian. This was just as Ali turned her attention back to the battle, and she just swept her hand through the air like a knife, a blast of light following and cutting the horde of Chitauri down tremendously. Jay noticed a crash like sound and a flash of silver as the man known as Falcon had taken down the other Leviathan...momentarily, it seemed. The heavy creature was dazed and tried to move its head, but flopped back down on the ground, still stunned.
But it wouldn’t be for long, and the alien horde was already beginning to focus on Ali and him by proxy. She was still uncomfortable to look at for the aliens, but the Chitlian were discovering that they needed to take her out somehow. A murmur of conversation seemed to ripple through the hive minded aliens, before two of the Chitlian took groups of Chitauri on chariots; one heading toward the army and another group heading toward the two other SHIELD Agents on the ground, while two of the chariots went high, hoping to strike Ali in the back while they attempted to keep her focus on the groups on the ground.
This is gospel for the fallen ones locked away in permanent slumber Assembling their philosophy from pieces of broken memories Oh oh oh oh oh oh This is the beat of my heart Gnashing teeth and criminal tongues conspire against the odds but they haven't seen the best of us yet If you love me, let me go If you love me, let me go Cause these words are nice enough to leave scars for fear of falling apart And truth be told I never was yours for fear for fear of falling apart Oh oh oh oh oh This is the beat of my
When did she start sharing a code name with Barton? That was news to her. But whatever, it worked, she supposed. She hadn’t really planned on it catching her off guard, but when Sam came over the comm saying he was heading her way, she wasn’t about to say no. With the group blocking her way, she had been about to start in on the group that had started to form behind her when someone else swung in behind her, and called her Hawk-lite. “What did you just call me?” She snapped, drawing her bow, almost ready to take this smart ass down, except that he had a weapon, and seemed to actually want to help. “Call me that again and one of these arrows goes through your eye. Got it?” She retorted, not having the time for this kind of shit from people. Clint was the one who had been working with her the most, so why couldn’t she use her bow, since that’s what she was trained the most with.
Around the corner, and over their heads she saw one of the whale things fly, and seemingly follow something much smaller, she assumed Sam considering he’d been headed in her direction. The music got louder and another one of the Leviathan things exploded overhead, leaving pieces and goo to come raining down on them in a huge light show. Kate ducked her down, covering her head with her arm, not that it would do all that much.
She felt so gross, but it would have to wait until this was finished for her to shower. Ew. When it seemed to stop ‘raining’ she looked up. That was where the music and the lights were coming from. Good to know. “C’mon, we need to move.” She motioned to the slinger who’d joined her. “Yeah, a lift would still be awesome. I can’t just magically jump to the top of a building, yknow.” She replied on the comm to Sam, so hopefully he’d be by to grab her soon, unless this other dude was gonna be quicker to the draw.
Kate had been about to go dart down an alley to try and keep a vantage point so she could take out some of the Chitauri with the fancy tips with the bio weapon thing before one of the Chitlians dropped and blocked the way. “Oh shit.” Kate mumbled, switching out her arrow for one of the electro-tips Clint had given her with a mix of all the other ‘specialty’ tips he’d had stashed. She had to admit they were freaking cool! That arrow hit the thing square in the forehead before it seemed to fry the circuitry the made it’s brain work. The thing keeled over nearly squishing her in the process. She was pretty quick and darted back a few steps though. “Any time now Falcon!” She sounded a bit irritated when she turned around to check their surroundings and there were about fifteen more of the Chitauri closing in. As much as she hated guns, she took one out and got ready to fire.
Flash couldn't help but smirk under the mask, even despite the situation. His face guard didn't have a mouth, but the symbiote was a living suit, and the eyes shifted a bit to reflect his expression. Even if she was threatening him, he didn't particularly mind - in fact, if anything, the attitude reminded him of Betty, which just reignited the fire in him to fight this and get back home to her. With one pull, the multi-gun split back into his dual pistols, allowing Flash to start taking out twice as many Chitauri just as quickly. "Relax - just giving you the business. Every Independence Day needs a Will Smith, y'know?"
The explosion behind him caught his attention, Flash turning just in time to see chunks of Leviathan guts raining down on everyone. Flash mimicked Kate, bringing an arm up that probably shouldn't have done much to help - at least, not until the symbiote shifted his forearm into more of a disc shape. For a moment, Flash actually felt like Captain America - which made sense, considering making a Cap 2.0 was the whole point of Project Rebirth. A few shakes of his arm and it was like Flash had never even been touched by the Chitauri innards, and the disc had settled back into his forearm. He still wasn't completely used to that part of the symbiote, but he'd be hard-pressed to say it didn't come in handy.
There had been another loud noise in the city that was increasingly filling up with loud noises, meaning Flash had to put more and more effort into controlling the symbiote. He could hear it in his mind, starting to go crazy in response to all the noise, wanting to leave, wanting to rip apart the things making the noise sot that it would just be quiet. Flash took deep breaths, trying to calm himself - but the symbiote was getting pissed, which meant he was getting pissed. Luckily, a downed but seemingly still-alive Leviathan presented a good opportunity to express some rage. Besides, Not-Hawkeye seemed to have backup incoming, so Flash didn't have any reason to feel guilty about ditching her.
Tendrils slithered out of the armor's chest , grabbing both pistols and moving to holster them as Flash began charging the downed Leviathan. Once the pistols were secured, the symbiote started convulsing around Flash's form, bubbling in places and eventually staying solid, slowly but surely forming into his bulkier form. He didn't know much about these aliens, but so far they seemed to be pretty close to human - which meant Flash could probably guess how to kill the big one. His arms continued shifting, extending and becoming jagged, hands replaced by sharp points on the end of large blades. He was still forming just two steps away from the downed Leviathan, but he was solid enough and had enough momentum that his plan would go without too much of a hitch.
His arms swung back, like he was bowling with his sister again on one of the better days of their childhood. Flash had always been better at football or basketball - but right now, he felt like he was about to bowl a strike. He swung his blades forward, plunging both of them deep into the Leviathan, where its "neck" would be. Something came over him just then - and instead of just pulling his blades and moving on, he kept stabbing, and even started tearing away at the armor and skin and muscle of the beast that had been flying through his nation's capitol, destroying its buildings, threatening its people. It wasn't long before his arms were drenched in Chitauri blood - Flash was seeing red, and the line between Chitauri and human was starting to blur.
But, as he'd gotten so used to doing, Flash shook those thoughts off - there were still aliens out here that needed killing, and that was pretty much his whole job description. The symbiote condensed back into his regular combat armor as Flash turned to look up in the sky. The bright light that he could only assume was a mutant - considering how it seemed to be on Earth's side - was still there, and the chariots were maneuvering with a sort of purpose that was very familiar to Flash, even if he'd only served his one tour of duty overseas. His fist shot into the air, web-line shooting out and sticking to one of the chariots zooming by. Flash started to reel himself into the alien craft, shifting his free arm into a sleeker version of the blade that had done so much damage to the Leviathan - he was ready to tear these aliens apart.

Circling around the buildings Sam eyed the ground below looking for the group he had left. He wasn’t one of those people who had fancy powers to rely on, all he had was his tech. His eyesight, when unaided, was to weak to make out much going on on the ground below but that where his goggles came into play. Not only did they keep the wind and random particulates from flying into his eyes as he sped through the air but they also allowed him to magnify his vision much like a hawk would do. Plus any movement that happened within his line of sight would quickly be brought to his attention incase he had missed it - something that had definitely come in handy many times.
Seeing a small group of people on the ground Sam zoomed in on them happy to see that he had found his group again. Not that he was worried he managed to lose them, but he’d been flying pretty erratically when he was trying to lose the leviathan that he figured it might have taken him a moment or two to get his bearings back and join up.
”On my way!” He replied to Kate’s comment and immediately went into decent. He touched down lightly next to the archer, not bothering to fold his wings back into his pack since they would be ascending once more shortly. ”Your chariot my lady,” He said gallantly before sweeping Kate up in his arms bridal style and taking off into the air.
It was a little strange but there really wasn’t a good way to carry people with the exo pack. Since it was strapped to his back giving her a piggy back ride was out of the question, and he really didn’t have and desire to lift her from under the arms. Past experience told him that put too much strain on the joints. He figured the archer would like to have her arms in working order when they landed on the roof top.
”Where would you like to go?” He asked taking them away from the incoming chitauri on the ground. Seeing as how he had never had the patience to be a sniper or anything that required a good vantage point from a long ways away he figured he’d let her pick the spot where she wanted to work from.

"Point to the Kentucky Fried Bassist." Al gave a half-nod, half-shrug, not envying Jay one bit. Worst she had to deal with was groping around in her brain for the on/off switch. It wasn't one she used often so sometimes she had to give a good think and squint a little until she tripped the right nerve or something and ended up modifying her vision. And then sometimes she had to play around with that a bit more, going through the various bands of light radiation until she found the right one, or else had all types of vision on at once which was... really weird and made her head swim.
"Requests, huh?" The rockstar replied, voice carrying over all the noise, aided by her mutant abilities. Much as she didn't mind the epic battle music, she was thinking that something a little more up tempo and rock like would be what she wanted. "Once you're outta the epic mood, think maybe y'can queue up 'Bad Habit' by the Offspring?" The song just seemed right for the mood, especially as she was taking chariots out of the sky like she was spraying insects out of the air.
"Doesn't mean it's too late t'cash in on the macho, y'know." The starlet quipped back, half serious and half joking. People had a way of cashing in on the stupid when things got tense. Adrenaline did some crazy things to people, especially those that didn't know how to manage a crisis. And while they were superheroes and comics said that they'd usually come out of these things unscathed, she liked to treat fiction like fiction. At least where the lives of living beings went.
So maybe she went a little overboard. Okay. So maybe she went a lot overboard. But invading aliens were dropping like flies and that was a good thing, right?
"If we don't kick enough ass, it just might be." The firefly from hell shot back at Jay after his end of the world comment. Fortunately, Ali was serving a pretty hefty can of whoopass, and was pretty sure she had enough to go around with as good as she felt. Couldn't say how she'd feel if this kept going for another month, but right now she felt like she could take on a lot.
After sweeping her hand out to trace the path of a laser that cut through everything, she turned to the side, catching sight of yet more Chitauri flying through the air. Squash one cockroach... only that metaphor didn't quite work since she was actually enjoying this. Putting her thumb and finger in a 'gun', she fired off a sharply focused laser which cut through a Chitauri and its chariot, and the one beside it. Unwittingly, not only did the laser cut through the vehicles like a warm knife through butter, but it also cut into Flash, who she hadn't caught sight of when she lined up the shot.
And she didn't get a chance to, either. The approach of the chariots behind had bleary-eyed Chitlian coordinate an energy-weapon attack to knock her out of the sky. Though neither attack penetrated her protective barrier, it took part of it down. The sudden, jarring effect had her scrambling fast to put the barrier back up, but in the mean time her footing crumbled underneath her. Literally. She started plummeting toward the ground.
"Shiiiittt!!!" Al shouted, trying to create a disk before she hit the ground.
@jay if you wanna catch her, you can. Or Falcon can. Or she can catch herself with LAS0RS.
“Ah’ll see what Ah kin do.” Jay replied cheekily, since both of them knew full well he could do a perfect cover of that. Jay’s response would be lost to anyone other than Ali, due to all the noise in the area. The epic mood was still going on even as he spoke and Ali quite literally cut down the Chitauri and Chitlian in half off of the chariots that were swarming around. It was becoming quite clear who the new target was for the alien army, since she was taking out a lot of their forces with extreme ease, and was shining in addition.
“Ah’m pretty sure that we’re already takin’ out a lot o’ their forces. Well, you are anyway.” Jay stated. He had no idea how long any of this could or would last either, he just knew that for an initial attack on a large city, especially the capitol of their nation, Ali and him seemed to be doing pretty well.
If anyone was on the rooftops or nearby, they would start to hear a different type of music starting; instead of the epic music that had been going on, a rather familiar rock song would start playing instead. The Army was managing to push back most of the other forces, but from what Jay could hear from shouted orders, he pieced together that the Armed Forces were spread just as thin as SHIELD was. Not a good sign. The forces converged on the pair of them once again, and Ali made the gun symbol with her hand, lasering down another chariot completely, though that one seemed to have something else that wasn’t a horrible bio-mechanical alien attached to it.
Before Jay could figure out what that even was, Ali had been struck by whatever, and was falling straight toward the ground. There wasn’t time to think and ponder about things that might’ve happened, only the time to act. The music would appear to have instantly cut off as soon as Jay focused on a different task.
Moving with a fluid grace, Jay dived down after Ali, even though the chariots were coordinating another attack on her, just in case. A streak of crimson went past Ali and swooped up to catch her in time. He’d caught in her in the traditional Bridal style, since he was fairly sure catching her by the arm or some such place would result in dislocated bones or joints.
“Ah think ah’ve filled up a good portion o’ mah ‘Macho’ man card.” Jay said to Ali this time, while having to move a little more quickly from the Chitauri that had tried to follow his dive. Jay was still flying much faster than them, even carrying Ali. “Yah good for another flying disk?” Jay asked, having to dip down and swerve away from a chariot that was pulling too close to them. Jay flew a tiny bit faster now, hoping that it wasn’t affecting Ali too badly. It shouldn’t, really, but Jay didn’t want to push his speed to the maximum level unless he had to.
This is gospel for the fallen ones locked away in permanent slumber Assembling their philosophy from pieces of broken memories Oh oh oh oh oh oh This is the beat of my heart Gnashing teeth and criminal tongues conspire against the odds but they haven't seen the best of us yet If you love me, let me go If you love me, let me go Cause these words are nice enough to leave scars for fear of falling apart And truth be told I never was yours for fear for fear of falling apart Oh oh oh oh oh This is the beat of my
Okay, the Will Smith comment made her smirk. Maybe this guy wouldn’t be that bad afterall. She was too focused on not getting eaten, or shot at to worry about replying in that moment. Normally Kate would be freaking out, because let’s be completely honest here, aliens from god knows where showing up to take over or wipe out the world was kind of a big deal. When she took out the ones on her side, then she shot a cheeky grin over her shoulder. “Nah, I was thinking this feels more like Men In Black.” Still Will Smith, but she definitely felt out of her element like J was in the original movie.
With having been sort of ducked behind Flash. she wasn’t completely covered in goop, which was awesome. Still, there was enough that she still felt gross, thus definitely needing a shower as soon as humanly possible.
When Sam finally came around and could grab her to get to a high vantage point, Kate was more than pleased to see him. “What took you so long, man?” She was teasing, but in a way it was true. If she’d been up on the roof, she probably wouldn’t be covered in alien goo right then. Oh well. When Sam scooped her up fairly easily, she glanced for a decent line of sight for the ground, but also where she’d be able to give a warning of incoming flying whales. “Uhhhh, there! Three buildings over, drop me on the roof.”
Hopefully he didn’t take it literally.
Once Kate was settled on the roof, she picked out the corner where she had the best visual vantage point of the ground, and where she could see the Capitol Hill, making sure the National Guard, and whoever else was over there had enough SHIELD agent back up that they didn’t need to do anything other than try and keep the Chitauri occupied here, and hopefully kill them all off.
“Falcon, two streets south of you there’s another group of the bigger ones with the armour. They seem to be chasing a couple powered kids, go give them a hand, I’ll see what I can take out from here.” She loaded up a couple exploding arrows Firing them off she waited until the tips latched onto the chariots those things were driving and set them off. the Chitlians that were driving them panicked, trying to bail but they dropped too quickly to the pavement, taking out a couple of the Chitauri with them.
