El and Lux are making magic in this thread. Straight up fireworks, and the way they've played with drawing out the reveal is top class.
Phase 2 threads should be wrapping up by Friday, March 18th, 11:59 PM EST. Try and come to whatever stopping point you can. Threads can also end earlier if you take out the Leviathans. Thanks, and have fun!
Vanessa had copied many people over the decades, animals were the easiest and in that regard copying the Leviathan wasn't so hard. It was it's size that was really the issue. Being an alien felt..well...it felt alien. It also didn't help that she had something else in the back of her brain trying to tell her what to do and where to go, and it was far more pushy then other Wade. She had a hard time ignoring it, but she focused her thoughts on Wade and tried her best to ignore it. Never in a million years would she have thought that she and Wade could have worked things out, their relationship was stronger then it had been since before things went sideways all those years ago. Back when their savings was stored in a coffee can and they dreamed of screened porch and creaky front door.
Bellowing out her rage, she used all of her strength to slam into the much larger Leviathan, knocking pieces of it's armor off in the process. Her jaws clamped down on it's large flipper, causing it to roar out in pain. Chitauri lept from it's back and down onto hers but she was smaller and faster then the Leviathan they were used to. Letting go of the Leviathan, she rolled to the side, tipping the Chitauri off of her and onto the pavement below. She could see the military making ready to fire and she used her momentum to barrel roll under it and come up on it's other side.
Keeping the Leviathan between herself and the large guns, she used her size and strength to keep it exposed to the barrage of bullets that rained down. More Chitauri dropped down on her, but she ignored them for the time being. She was so large that their energy blasts felt like bee stings, painful but annoying at best. She was glad she'd put her faith in the Ninja, he came in handy it would seem. As the Leviathan began fall from the sky, Nessa broke off so she wouldn't be dragged down with it.
However, it was getting mighty hard to ignore the Hive. Shaking her massive head as if to clear the cobwebs out, she searched for something to focus on. It was difficult and it was getting more difficult to remember why she was here. Wade...she had to think of wade. A stray round from the tank trying to hit the other Leviathan slammed into her side and propelled her into a building with a mighty roar of anguish. She could only copy one thing at a time, which meant she no longer had Wade's power coursing through her system, now all she had was rage.
Whatever was trying to control her, latched onto that rage and she turned her red eyes on the tank that had shot her. Rising up out of the rubble of the building, she aimed directly towards it and her new found allies. The wound in her side trailed black alien blood down the street, though it turned red when it hit pavement. She couldn't shed the Copy herself now, it needed to wear off or she needed to be forced out.
The Chitlian leader of the small hoard took the opportunity to drop down behind the makeshift barricade, before creeping up behind Katya, stealing the weapon back, effectively stealing the backpack as well. The bag was quickly discarded and torn with a swing of its hand, scattering the various school books and other contents of the bag across the pavement. Once the bag was gone, the alien took a swing with the staff at Katya.
Although Katya turned at the sudden motion, her inability to hear the danger spoiled her chances to properly defend herself. She brought both hands up in an attempt to stop the blow, but it was too little and too late. The staff collided solidly with the side of her head, a sickening crack! filling the air near them as she dropped instantly into a crumpled heap of unconsciousness. Satisfied the mortal was done for, the Chitlian pressed forward towards the armored military men wielding automatic weapons.

Well, so far the military seemed to be good at playing the "which one do I shoot?!?!" game from all the movies that had shapeshifters in them. The real Leviathan was taking its fair share of hits from the army while Copycat did a good amount of damage with the "fight fire with fire" method. All in all, it seemed like everything was starting to work out pretty well - at least, until the Chitauri showed up where the army was.
In the chaos of that moment, Jackson actually lost the sword that Copycat had given him, which he had to assume Deadpool had given her; which meant that by the end of the day, either the aliens would kill Jackson, or Deadpool would. Fun times, to be sure, but there were more pressing matters: namely, the two Chitauri that had knocked the sword away to begin with. Jackson wasn't an especially short person, in fact he was a few inches taller than some of the people his age. But the Chituri - or at least, the cyborg one - towered over him, which made the whole situation just a wee bit more intimidating. Still, under the mask, Jackson smiled - if only because he'd probably scream if he didn't. "Come on, guys, let's talk about this like civilized adults."
To which the smaller of the aliens screeched at him, before moving forward and jabbing at Jackson with his spear while the Chitlian moved around to get at him from behind. Alright, simple - two enemies, one in front, one in back; the one in front was trying to shishkebab Jackson on a spear while the other one came at him from behind. Opportunity, check - now he just needed to execute it. He turned on his foot to avoid the strike from the spear, swinging his sword up to off a quarter of the spear so it would be headless as he sent a kick to the Chitauri's midsection to knock it away. He caught the head of the spear by what little of its grip was left, holding it so the blade pointed behind him like a dagger. With the spear-dagger in hand, Jackson turned quickly towards the Chitlian, thrusting the blade into its throat and up into its head.
Jackson hadn't used these techniques since he'd finished his training in Tokyo - the techniques meant for lethal attacks. He'd never really had to use them, but then again, he'd never had to fight enemies like these. The Chitauri were endless in number, and they were ruthless in how they fought - which, hey, so were all of the humans he'd ever fought, but they were... Human. He'd fought a couple of mutants in his time as a vigilante, but even they weren't as bad as cyborg aliens with plasma weapons and giant flying whales dropping more of them off.
He heard some gunfire, and utrned to see that the Chitauri he'd kicked away was taken down by one of the soldiers. Well, maybe this wasn't such a big setback after all - at least, it wouldn't have been, until one of the tanks shot Copycat out of the sky. Or wait - no tout of the sky, because she was coming right for them, bleeding a river in the streets of Queens, while - and this could have just been the resting face for the Leviathan - looking pissed to all Hell. Where the heck was Deadpool at, anyway? Oh well - looks like Jackson had to do... Something.
He turned on his heel and ran over to one of the tanks, climbing onto the top so he could hopefully be seen by whatever inside of the giant whale was still Copycat. The Katana slid back into its sheath on Jackson's back, freeing up both his arms to wave around, trying to get the mutant's attention. No way she was going to hear him over the tanks firing and just the general chaos of the situation, but maybe she was still there enough to play a game of charades. Hoping he got her attention, Jackson just started waving his arms, trying to tell her to turn away from the soldiers - it wasn't much, but it was the best he could think of for that specific situation.
Wade had really been hoping for some help with his current predicament, considering he was more than a little wrapped up in the parachute cord and dangling from a streetlight over a highway, in the middle of a city that was just packed with angry aliens. Not the best situation to be in... Still, seeing as the Ninja Guy was running away (fucking ninjas!) Wade didn't have much choice but to find some way to extricate himself from the situation. After a few moments of decidedly graceless struggle, the merc was able to get one of his knives and cut himself free - which earned him a fifteen foot drop to the ground that he just barely made without landing on his head.
Breaking his neck really would have been a bit counterproductive.
"Oofah... Considerably less of a hero landing than I wanted that to be... Hey where IS everybody!? I blew up a giant space whale! I mean come on, that was pretty cool, right? Guys?" The spot of the highway where he'd landed seemed abandoned at the moment, but a small group of Chitauri climbed up onto it behind him, and Wade turned, shooting two before he kicked the weapon out of the other one's hands, grabbed it by the throat, and slammed it into the railing.
"HEY! I was just asking a question! Where's Nessa and the others anyway!?" Of course, all the Chitauri did was screech at him, but there was a considerable commotion not far away - and... Was that a Leviathan with red eyes? "Dammit, Nessa! What did I tell you about -" The alien lunged at him, breaking his grip for a moment, but Wade turned and nailed it with a side kick that knocked it back over the railing and out into open air.
"Sweet, alien gun..." he said, distracted, and he picked the alien blaster up before breaking into a run toward the group. So now Nessa was going after the army guys? Dammit, they probably looked tasty with teeth that big. He was gonna have to do something about that, he just didn't know WHAT... of course, all the blood... He couldn't let her die, which meant he was going to have to get her to absorb him again. Oh this was going to be just a bucket of fun.
"STOP SHOOTING THE SMALLER ONE!" Wade shouted, knocking a couple of the soldiers on the helmets as he sprinted past, then he ran right by Jackson, leaping off the roadway and straight at the Nessa-viathan's head. He crashed into her with a disconcerting crunch, but managed to hold on as he tore off one of his gloves, pressing it into the open and unarmored space the tank had opened up.
Some part of her severely messed up brain registered that she was headed for the good guys and she needed to turn but the rest of her had been taken over by the Hive mind. Of course, that was a two way street, and she could see the movements of the other Chitauri in the city. Needless to say, it was gettin mighty crowded in here. She could see Jackson standing atop the Tank that had shot her but it didn't do any good, her mind was so filled with rage, all she could think about was smashing the tank to pieces and anything that got in her way. Nessa always did have a flare for the dramatic.
And then Wade ran past Ninjax and some part of her brain that was still Nessa recognized the man in the red suit, though not enough to do much good. As Wade suddenly came flying directly at her face. She roared out, barely missing having Deadpool for lunch with her rows of sharp teeth though she did try to shake him off as he clung to her armor. This proved enough of a distraction that she veered away from the tank and the military 'good guys' trying to take out Chitauri. As Wade pressed his scarred hand to her alien flesh, Vanessa felt something inside her begin to shift and change. Ever so slowly she dropped out of the sky until she hit pavement, tossing cars and debris as she slid a good ways down the road until her massive form began to shimmer and change.
It took longer then it normally would have for Nessa to change due to how big the Leviathan she was trying to copy had been and for a few moments she looked like a strange amalgamation of Deadpool and Leviathan before Vanessa in all her blue skinned glory finally reappeared, laying half in Wade's arms and half across the pavement. She held one hand to the large hole the tank had blown through her cat suit, she could feel her ribs under her gloved fingers but she wasn't about to move her hand. "Wade..." she coughed, turning her red eyes up to his face as her lips curled into a soft smile at the sight of his stupid face.
With her free hand, she brought his bare hand up to her face, closing her red eyes as she absorbed the heat of him into herself, using his power to heal herself. This wasn't the first time they'd been in situations like this and she doubted it would be the last. When she opened her eyes again, the blue of her skin had brightened considerably and she removed her other hand from the closed wound though her skin could now be seen through the hole in her suit. "Did ya save me any party favors?" She asked, hoping he wasn't about to lecture her on the stupidness of her actions.
Which one of them was the Pot and which was the Kettle? She could never remember.
Down the street, a third leviathan rounded the corner. The military blockade seemed to explode in a flurry of ammo as they launched into another wave of attacks in it's direction. "I think the Ninja needs a lesson on following orders." She commented as she let Wade help her up, stretching out her sore muscles. A nice hot bath was in her future, that much she knew for sure. "You gettin tired on me old man?" She asked Wade, using the old joke from when he used to call her "Just a kid".
@jax One more round boys, Lets get'er done!

Jackson was freaking OUT. He had one job - ONE JOB. Make sure Copycat was alive by the time that Leviathan was taken out, and what had happened? Oh, not much, she just got a hole blown in her freaking side by the U.S. Army. It wasn't even like the bad guys had shot her, it was team Hero, the resistance, the counter-attack. Holy crap, Jackson was a dead man - Deadpool was going to shove his katana down Jackson's throat, or... Worse.
But wait, she was okay, wasn't she? She'd change back and poof, everything normal - a shapeshifter had to be able to bounce back from a wound like that, she just had to. Jackson decided he needed to be sure, so he took off after the pair of mutants, following the path of tossed-aside cars and asphalt crash craters. He saw a big alien that was shrinking, which was good, because it meant that it was becoming more Copycat and less Chitauri. What was bad, though, was when that alien got really messed up and leathery-looking skin, the kind that Freddy Krueger might look at and tell someone they need to moisturize. She was dead, and by the Deadpool property, Jackson was gonna end up dead, too.
No, wait - they were moving, both of them! No one was dead, and he was probably going to be fine, too. Knowing that all was well once again, Jackson ran up to the pair, reaching in his pouch and pulling the epi-pen that Copycat had given Jackson earlier. Once he reached them, he was still a bit nervous - his brows were together because he'd pretty much gotten nothing done by talking to the army guys, but he wanted to help out now even more. "Sorry about that - we got ambushed right after I told a guy not to shoot you. I guess the word didn't spread fast enough. Hey, I dunno what this does, but if it'll help you get back on your feet, I say use it."
He held out the pen to Copycat - or really, either of them, considering she might not have been totally recovered just yet. From what he could see, she wasn't bleeding any more, though, and that was definitely a good thing. He'd seen so little of her before she took off that the blue skin was kind of a shock - had she even had that when she left before? He couldn't remember, given everything that just went down, but it really didn't matter. They were all alive, and that was that - now they just had to beat the rest of the alien army invading Earth.
