Darcy really didn’t like the fact that the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were on the completely opposite side of the country right now. Glancing up towards the sky above the tops of the skyscrapers, she winced. No portal. And yet, she could still see chariots racing down every once in awhile. Jesus - how many of these dudes were there?! Groaning beneath her breath, she turned back towards the woman and nodded. “Seems that way…”
Pausing in her hustle as the young man faltered, Darcy waited at his side in a protective manner. She highly doubted he needed her help, of course - the kid had lightning coming out of him and had helped take down a friggin’ Leviathan. Call it a weird maternal nature from all her years of babysitting, she guessed. “West Coast must have got hit first. Bait and hook. Either way, they’re dealing with the same crap we are, so we’re just gonna have to suck it up. Hope y’all brought your big boy and girl panties today,” she tried, putting on as brave of a face as she could.
Well, Wanda’s plan seemed vague, but definitely better than Darcy’s own half-assed suggestion. And hey, judging by the crazy reddish glow emanating from her hands, she could probably actually back up that plan a hell of a lot easier than Darcy could do… well… anything productive here in the middle of a warzone. Her taser wasn’t a ranged weapon of any kind, and the hell if she was going to actively get up close and personal with the big uglies if she didn’t have to. SHIELD had some of the best trainers the world had to offer, but there was only so much they could do with a student who tended to focus more on keeping up in the classroom than on the mats.
“Err… No, I’m not military, per se,” she answered bashfully. But she could totally see how they’d extrapolate that from her previous statement. “I’m part of SHIELD, though. Just a trainee, really, but… well, there might be some of our guys there.” She had her badge on her if they needed proof - not that she honestly thought anyone was going to force her to show it, considering the circumstances.
Watching the way Asher’s eyes shifted over her taser, Darcy couldn’t help but grin, like a proud mama at her kid’s first school recital. “It’s got a bit more of a get up an’ go than the store bought thing I took Thor out with a few years ago,” she drawled, shamelessly name-dropping a second Avenger. “Err… You… Huh… I guess I could give it a go…”
Holy mother of god… Not only did he want her to taze him, but he wanted her to taze him there?! Darcy cringed outwardly, her flushed face blanching ever so slightly as the mere thought crossed her mind. That was going to hurt like a bitch. But… Maybe not for him? … Gritting her teeth, Darcy sucked in a deep breath and placed the edge of her handheld weapon to the area Asher directed her to. Her eyes flickered to the military blockade half a block away as she paused, her finger hovering over the button that would send thousands of volts of electricity straight into the mutant.
It didn’t take her long to make up her mind and, turning back to Asher, she finally pressed the button. A flash of light arced between the prongs before everything went straight into the electric mutant. She’d never used the taser before today, but she knew it was considerably more potent than most. Mentally keeping her fingers crossed, she kept the active device up against his neck until the little light flashed red, showing it was empty. Putting on a smile, she pulled the device back and quickly swiped it out of sight in case Asher turned back to check. “Hope that lasts you a bit,” she offered, turning to glance at the blockade again.
“Y’all stay safe… I’m gonna head over and let them know reinforcements have arrived.” With a nod to the pair, Darcy grabbed the strap of her satchel and took off towards the relative safety of the military cordon. She was about as safe as a sitting duck out here with no more juice in the taser, but she had decided him having as much as she could give him would be preferential. Desperate times and all that jazz.
As soon as they saw her heading in their direction, the members of the National Guard manning the makeshift blockade cleared a path. Darcy kept running at a steady pace as the Chitauri fell all around her. One Chitlian didn’t go down quite so easily, and she shrieked as the tip of its blade sliced into her arm. Pain seared throughout the entire limb, but another barrage of bullets took the creature down as all weapons aimed on him to let her in. Fighting past the sudden pain, Darcy panted as a group of men and women in uniform surrounded her.
“Avengers are on the West Coast. Don’t shoot those two. They’re friendlies,” she rasped, her uninjured arm lifting to point towards Wanda and Asher as they headed towards a Leviathan rounding the corner through a building roughly three blocks to the north.
The loud explosion of large ammunition nearly deafened the SHIELD Academy student, and Darcy nearly jumped out of her skin. Jesus! She had not been expecting that. Glancing up, she finally noticed the pair of tanks sitting nearby, their muzzles pointed skyward at another Leviathan. This one seemed to be considerably less whole and healthy. Its scales weren’t all in perfect order, and some were missing entirely. The roar of the doppler effect hit her ears as a trio of jets came sailing down the thoroughfare running perpendicular to the street they were on, and she watched as each one unloaded more than a few vicious hits.
Two more explosions rang out from the nearby vicinity, and Darcy all but sagged with relief as this round of tank fire seemed to do the trick. The beast roared and rolled in mid-air, its death throes successfully eliminating the bottom three floors of a building two blocks to the south. “Anybody got a spare gun?” she asked, swallowing past the pain from her bloody arm and wobbly standing back up to her full height. And here she’d always thought papercuts were bad. Shiiiiit, this whole sword gash business was way worse.
Instead of a gun, she was ushered towards an area where a pair of medics were patching their comrades up and she groaned. They thought she was just a civilian, of course. Okay, so yeah, she kind of was… But she had training! Rather than let the medic tear her already ripped shirt, Darcy grunted and slid her satchel off before removing the whole damn jacket and over-shirt, revealing a black tank top. Maybe when all of this was done, she could find a good tailor to fix the jacket - it was her favorite. Before the medic could stop her in order to begin cleaning the wound, she grabbed her cell phone and satchel, tossing it over her good shoulder so that she could dig through while he worked. “Look… Just… Somebody here’s gotta have a spare gun!” she exclaimed, her fingers finally finding the laminated badge in the depths of her bag. “I know how to use one, I promise. Let me help, you jerks!”
Finally, that seemed to do the trick, and while the medic slathered on antibacterial cream and then began the quick wrap job, someone offered her their pistol and a spare mag. “Thank you! Lieutenant… Hughes…” she finished, reading the symbols and name tag on the young man’s uniform.
The news that the Avengers were not in the area was shocking indeed, but the young man among them seemed to have a little more trouble swallowing it than Wanda did. Of course, she had no real connection to this country as of yet; at least, not one that wasn't in this city. Perhaps he was from that side of the country.
Wanda watched the young man's exchange with the woman with interest. She supposed that she'd seen stranger things when it came to mutant powers, but it was still odd to have Asher asking to be tased. Whatever worked, she supposed. They would need the firepower to take down the creatures in the sky.
She hedged on sharing her powers, as she still wasn't sure what, exactly, she should call them. She knew what HYDRA had called them, but at least part of her abilities were magic in nature, via her connection to the mystical forces that Stephen had been teaching her about. "Psionics," she replied eventually, "Both physical and mental." He did not need to know that she could invade his thoughts, but her telekinesis and hex bolts would both be in full use in the battle before them. "Energy bolts and telekinesis," she clarified.
Giving a slight jump as Darcy loosed the taser energy into the other mutant's neck, Wanda watched with wide eyes as he seemed to absorb it. Certainly useful, if painful-looking.
As the other woman made her way towards the barricade, Wanda turned towards her new partner in this fight. "I hope you are not afraid of heights," she mentioned calmly before turning her gaze toward the sky where she could see another of the large creatures nearby. Gathering her power around her, she lifted the both of them into the air, closer to the creature that they needed to take down. "We should try to strike at its head until we break through the plating and can take out its brain," she suggested, as she could feel that it had thoughts, even if they were limited.
Lifting an arm, the red energy swirled around her hands as she gathered it into a bolt that she sent to the creature's head with all her might.

ELECTRICKERY
Ash might've thought the "bait and hook" strategy clever, if it weren't so damned frustrating for everyone but the aliens. They were, thankfully, not left totally helpless thanks to military organizations and the mutant population, but the Chitauri had still effectively removed the first line of defense from the East Coast. He wondered just how wide-spread the attacks were, and where the hell all of them were coming from when there didn't seem to be a portal in sight.
More importantly.. what was their target? If it'd only been pure chaos and destruction, there wouldn't have been much need to move the Avengers elsewhere. With these sorts of numbers, they could've attacked both ends of the nation at once. Were they looking for something on this side of the country that they needed to get the world's most powerful heroes out of the way for?
Unfortunately, Darcy had a point. They had their own crap to deal with, and Ash didn't have the time to sit down and try to figure out what the aliens' goal was. Maybe after the battle, if he was still breathing, he could try and find a live Chitauran and get a look inside its head. Though he doubted he'd be able to understand whatever language they used, perhaps he could get a glimpse at an image that might give him a hint as to what they were after. First things first, though.
"SHIELD, huh? Well, I think that makes you a whole lot more helpful than an army cadet who barely knows how to fire a gun," he offered. Asher had brushed up on SHIELD a little more since speaking with one of their agents over the summer, and they seemed to have far superior training to any other military branch.. depending on what division she was in, anyways. Regardless, though, she should be more knowledgeable about aliens and mutants than most. It explained why she hadn't freaked out over seeing his and Wanda's abilities.
And probably why she was even remotely comfortable tazing him. While it would've been simpler to do it himself, he still wasn't too keen on taking her only weapon away, and he figured it'd be less awkward if they weren't facing each other. Plus, the fact that she was still alive to casually throw around the fact that she'd tazed an Asgardian Prince, without having any apparent abilities of her own, suggested she'd probably seen and done worse.
Seemed she hadn't been kidding about the extra potency of this tazer, either. Asher tensed as the electricity raced down his spine, a brief grunt of pain escaping him as he clenched his fingers down against his palms. It was nothing, of course, compared to what it would've done to an ordinary human, but he wasn't totally immune and it still hurt. More than worth it, he always thought though, for what it allowed him to do. "It should. Thanks for that, and be safe yourself," he shot back, turning only to nod the woman off before returning his attention to Wanda, rubbing the back of his neck where his skin was still warm from the thousands of volts of electricity.
Psionics.. Ash knew the term related to some kind of psychic abilities. His own, he supposed, were psychic to some extent, too, even if they only applied to electricity. But Wanda offered a more precise, if short, explanation before he could think to ask what area hers were in. Simple enough, he supposed.
They'd just have to hope the combination of their abilities would be enough to take down the leviathan--and the last one, too, it sounded like, if the roar and crash in the distance were anything to go by. Good. If they could take out all the whale-like creatures, the Chitauri themselves would be far more manageable.
And though he had no fear of heights, it didn't make it any less odd when he was lifted into the air by an invisible force. His powers could do a lot of things, but he had yet to find a way to use them to fly, and he might actually have enjoyed the experience were they under different circumstances. "Just be sure not to drop me," was all he said, his attention on the final, giant alien before them.
The metal plating.. Electricity couldn't do much to damage metal, but the brain so far seemed to be their only weak point. So it was lucky that he'd found an ally with a more.. physical means of offense. Sort of. "I probably won't be able to break through the plating myself, but I should be able to weaken it for you."
Gathering electricity in both hands, Asher let it fly to the plates shielding the creature's head. Rather than focus on the force of the blow, however, he maintained the electric current between his hands and the beast's armor, gradually heating the metal covering the Leviathan's head. Whether it burned the large alien or not mattered little, as the electric heat, he knew, would soften the plates enough for Wanda to more easily punch through with her energy bolts.
Darcy’s face scrunched up slightly as Asher inquired after her SHIELD status, and she opened her mouth to explain further, but stopped. He thought she was better than an Army cadet? Well, she did know how to fire a gun. Still, she didn’t have the heart to tell him she was really mostly only a student and that most of her physical training (of which there wasn’t much) was elective. After a brief moment of biting her lip, she nodded her thanks, but said no more. Maybe afterwards, she’d tell him the full truth: she was just a girl with a Poli-Sci degree who’d been swept up into this crazy world of spies and superheroes while trying to attain the six college credits needed to graduate.
For now, though, the kid looked like he needed every ounce of hope he could get. He hadn’t broken down into tears or anything pitiful like that, but he did seem to have taken the news about the West Coast a bit worse than Wanda had. Seriously, that woman was calm as could be - perhaps too calm…
No, no. That line of thinking was silly. Stop it, Darcy.
Tasing a known ally was totally different from tasing an enemy. She didn’t care if an enemy got hurt - especially if they were a gross, scaly alien. The pain Asher seemed to be exhibiting tore at Darcy’s heartstrings, but aside from a quiet grunt, he took it all like a champ. “Don’t mention it,” she smiled. “And I make no promises.”
With that, she was off, her cute suede boots carrying her down the rubble-infested street towards the relative safety of the military blockade. By the time she managed to get a gun, there were a few extra soldiers surrounding her area, and she made sure to offer each of them a view of her arched eyebrow. “What?”
“You’re a SHIELD Agent,” Hughes said, his late teens/early twenties voice cracking from either late puberty or fear. She assumed the former, if only to save him face in her mind because he’d offered her his gun. Frightened people didn’t give away weapons willy nilly.
“Uhh… Ish?” she responded, nodding her thanks to the medic before they moved off to help someone being led over with a pretty nasty gash in their leg. “I’m still technically training… but… wait, so there’s no SHIELD presence here right now?” Glancing around, she frowned at the distinct lack of three piece suits (seriously, did they ever wear anything else?). “Damn… Well…”
She stopped as movement from the corner of her eye caught her attention. Lifting the gun into both hands to steady herself, she took aim and fired three bullets into a Chitauri clambering up the barricade in between the manned areas that were already dealing with foes themselves. The alien slumped, and so did Darcy. She’d been expecting a lot more kick from the gun. Maybe it was just her nerves, helping to combat the power of the pistol. Or maybe the pistol just wasn’t as high caliber as the ones she was used to training with. Either way, it didn’t really matter. She’d just shot and killed a Chitauri. Her second one of the day!
“Okay, so… See those two flying around in front of that Leviathan?” she asked, the whirring of something loud shifting hitting her ears. Turning, she watched as the barrels of each tank slowly rotated until they were facing the direction of the newest Leviathan threat. “Those two are good guys. Please don’t shoot them. But if you could call in your buddies with the bombers, I’m sure they wouldn’t argue with a bit of air support…”
One week deadline warning! Phase 2 threads should be wrapping up by Friday, March 18th, 11:59 PM EST. Try and come to whatever stopping point you can. Threads can also end earlier if you take out the Leviathans. Thanks, and have fun!
It was interesting to watch the other young mutant absorb the electricity as it hit him, but Wanda was grateful that her own abilities did not require such things, as it still seemed rather painful. She waited for him to shake off whatever pain he'd been feeling before lifting a hand in a wave of goodbye to the young woman as she trotted off.
Chuckling a bit as he asked her not to drop him, she sent him a slow smile. "I promise I will not," she replied. Had this been some years ago, it would not have been a promise that she could make, but she had done enough training at this point in her life to be comfortable in what her psionics could do, and lifting two people was not all that difficult in the grand scheme. Certainly far easier than entering another's mind.
Wanda thought it was quite ingenious to use the electricity to heat and weaken the plating on the large alien's back, and she nodded her thanks to her companion as she sent another strong bolt of energy at the beast. The swirling red struck against the plating and created a dent in the softened metal and she struck at it again as her new companion kept up his assault.
A shot came from one of the large tanks below and the monster let out a roar as it hit him, writhing in the air. Wanda frowned in concentration as she sent another bolt at the beast, slicing through the plating finally. "Hit the creature's brain!" she said to her companion, wrapping her own energy around his as he did so. The combined assault seemed to fry it and soon the thing was lilting to the side and falling.
Gritting her teeth, Wanda used all her might to direct the creature away from the buildings in order to mitigate the damage, letting out a sigh of relief as it crashed into the street below. Her energy was waning, but there was still much to do.
"There is one last creature," she said, nodding towards the flying thing that was approaching them now that its brethren was down. "Are you up for it?"

ELECTRICKERY
Though he barely knew this woman, the brief promise was still, somehow, reassuring. He could reasonably slow himself down enough one way or another with his own abilities to escape serious injury if he were to fall, but he'd sooner reserve the electricity for taking down the Leviathans. Wanda seemed capable of wielding her powers without any external source, however, so it didn't seem likely that she'd run out of juice in the middle of the fight and lose her mental grip on him. Which was good, because he really didn't wanna hug the pavement with his face at any speed.
Luckily, distraction didn't seem to be an issue, either, since Wanda wasn't having any trouble holding him up even while both of them assaulted the beast. It left him able to focus the brunt of his own powers on the Leviathan, so that by the time Wanda's energy bolts had broken through its metal plating, hot shards of what should've been the creature's armor actually did a great job of penetrating its thick hide. The wounds might've been small and next to unnoticeable for something its size, but electricity didn't need a big entrance. Plus, it had tank fire to deal with that was probably causing a lot more physical damage, if not in as vital a spot.
Breaking off the connection with the broken metal, Asher redirected the arcing voltage into the newly opened chink in its armor, and was surprised to find Wanda's energy encompassing his own. It certainly helped the electricity to avoid being conducted into the rest of the surrounding metal plates, and to more thoroughly strike its now exposed head. And once it was past the thick hide, it was a simple matter of attack the electrical impulses of its brain, effectively electrocuting its nervous system.
And like most creatures, that was more than enough to bring it down, even with its impressive mass. Grateful to have Wanda's telekinesis to keep him out of the way this time, Asher watched as it went limp and began to fall. Rather than demolish the first several floors of another building, however, something seemed to push it back into the street--something he guessed was also Wanda's doing. Her mental abilities must've been pretty strong, if she could move something that heavy.
"There is?" Asher frowned in the direction of another Leviathan flying towards them. Well, so much for his original count of three--but then, it could've been hiding behind any number of buildings. Or perhaps there was a portal somewhere and they just hadn't found it yet. Hopefully the former, because he didn't like their chances of fighting against an endless wave of aliens without the Avengers.
Was it aware of how they'd taken down its brethren, due to the whole hive-mind thing? He really needed to figure out how that worked and see if he couldn't exploit it. For now, though, he had to deal with the immediate threat.
"Think so. Got enough strength left yourself?" Asher asked, letting the lightning fork between his fingers, trying to judge just how much juice he had left. The modified taser had given him an extra jolt compared to the ordinary one he'd used before, but it'd drain what he had left to take down another Leviathan. He could fight for longer without tiring due to using external sources, but that didn't help him much when he was running on empty. It wouldn't help Wanda, either, especially if she was overexerting herself.
Glass shattered as the creature's.. "fins" tore through the sides of buildings like paper on its way towards them, which didn't leave Ash much time to come up with a new plan of attack. It was only the military jets in the distance and the tanks behind them that offerered any assurance, now. Actually, maybe they could use them to their advantage..
"We should flank it, he offered, only because the woman's telekinetic abilities made such a thing possible. On the ground they were vulnerable, but in the air beside it, Wanda could, he hoped, keep them out of harm's way while it tried to twist around and attack them both. "That same tactic might not work again on this one. But if we can keep out of the line of fire and distract it, the military should be able to do enough damage for us to get through its armor."
True, they probably could take it down themselves, as they'd just demonstrated with the last one, but even once they'd taken care of the Leviathans, there were still numerous Chitauri. They'd already made themselves pretty big targets, and it'd be potentially deadly to expend the last of their power in one shot if they didn't need to.
Turns out, getting air support wasn’t nearly as easy as the movies made it look.
Darcy frowned as she watched the captain squabble with some voice over the walkie on his shoulder. She assumed it was HQ or some other higher up. This guy may be a Captain, but without the word America after his title, it didn’t seem to carry much weight.
Leaving him to his logistical struggle, Darcy sidled up to Lieutenant Hughes and stared up over the side of the barricade. Her eyes were instantly drawn to the corpse of the Chitauri, which two officers were working to shove back over into the street. Pearly whites chomped down on her lower lip as she tried not to fidget too much.
Dammit.
She was horrible at standing still. And keeping quiet. And basically everything that hiding here in the barricade entailed. Glancing down at the gun in her hand, she tried to focus on naming it - brand, caliber, munition… It didn’t take her long, sadly. Curse those SHIELD courses. Letting out a huffed sigh, she turned her attention back towards the captain, whose hands were in the air, motioning towards an approaching shadow.
For what could easily be the fiftieth time that day, Darcy’s heart sank down into her stomach while a massive lump filled her throat. Another Leviathan?! Wanda and Asher had just taken out the last one, though! The twelve year old girl that lived inside Darcy (namely to laugh at fart jokes and other crude humor) began to throw a temper tantrum, but the mature young woman on the outside somehow managed to keep her shit together.
The captain was still getting no love from whoever was on the other end of the line. Darcy had all the faith in the world in the pair of mutants (okay, no… that was a lie… she barely knew them… but they seemed pretty competent?). But they had just taken down a Leviathan almost entirely by themselves. They could use some damn air support!
Storming over to the captain, Darcy snatched the walkie out of his hand and clicked the button to speak. “This is Agent Darcy Lewis of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. We’ve got a fourth bogey comin’ in hot down here on 24th, and we need some air support! If you’d like to check my credentials, feel free to speak with my S.O., Agent Jasper Sitwell. Hell, check with the World Security Council for all I care. Just do it after you get me some goddamn air support!” Releasing the button, Darcy paused for a moment, trying to regain her composure.
“ …Sorry about that…” she apologized, gingerly handing the walkie back to the man whose shoulder it was still attached to.
The captain’s apology was drowned out by the roar of two jets coming into range. One flew slightly below and in front of the other, its rail gun pelting the aliens on the ground near the barricade, giving the men and women on the frontlines a bit of a reprieve. Darcy herself didn’t sag with any ounce of relief until the second jet launched a pair of Hellfire missiles into the beast.
Even then, she couldn’t release all the tension in her shoulders. Thankfully, she spied Wanda and Asher, and only then did she slump a bit. The jets lifted up and out of the street, banking once they were at a good distance, and came back around for a second round, but she watched as they switched roles this time. Smooth…
As the sound of more missiles crashing into the monstrous space whale echoed throughout the thoroughfare, followed by the loud ‘rat-tat-tat-tat!’ of the railgun slicing through the aliens on the other side of the barricade, Darcy turned towards the captain and offered him the best smile she could. It wasn’t anything fabulous, and quite honestly, it was more concerned and sheepish than comforting - which is what her original goal had been.
“I ah… really hope they don’t call the World Security Council…”
Sitwell, she could handle. He was a cool dude. He’d understand her motives for lying on a police communication system thing. The World Security Council, though? They were like the bureaucratic boogeyman, so far as she’d heard. After the hell she’d raised trying to get into SHIELD a few years back, the last thing she wanted was for those unknown faces way up the chain catching wind of her.
Wanda could feel herself tiring, but she pushed that aside. For now there were far more important things that needed doing. She nodded to her new partner in this particular endeavor. “I will be fine for this last monster,” she assured him. She would simply have to prioritize the use of her powers, and she perhaps would be unable to put as much into attacks if she meant to keep them aloft for the fight.
The young man offered up a strategy and Wanda thought over his words for a moment before nodding. “With the military coming in, it would be best to all use small bits of energy and resources rather than exhaust our own,” she agreed, focusing on getting them over to the creature itself so that she could put them in position. It would take much more concentration than hovering them in place, but with the planes to help, she was sure that they could manage.
It seemed that the ‘air support’ the other woman had promised was coming in full force at this point as they moved toward the last of the creatures. Missiles flew into the creature, denting the plate on the thing’s head as well as blasting into its side. It roared, continuing across the sky as Wanda put herself and Asher into position on either side.
There is a good spot for them to hover, right in front of the creature’s fins, where it can’t reach them. The hits from the planes that fly over are good, and combined with her blasts - not using as much power this time - they are slowly chipping away at the armor.
The beast is attempting to take out anything it can as it flies, and Wanda’s concentration is becoming stretched thin as she carefully moves her and Asher to avoid debris, so she is relieved when cracks form in the armor that will allow them to hit the creature where it hurts. Knowing that shouting over the sounds of battle will be useless, she projects mentally instead.
<Asher, the armor is cracked, try to hit its brain,> she encouraged before turning her attention to the young woman they left behind. Her mental signature was frazzled and easy to find. <This creature is almost down; make sure the area is clear for it to fall. I don’t think I can direct it away from buildings this time,> she suggested, hoping the young woman did not freak out too much at the intrusion of her waning concentration.

ELECTRICKERY
Asher could only hope that this was really the last of the Leviathans, and that the military could do enough damage to help them preserve their energy. It was fortunate that they'd seemed to have improved their reaction time since the first attack, and that they didn't seem to be planning to blow the whole city this time. If they were on the West Coast, too.. then the government and military probably weren't willing to destroy that much of the country just to defend themselves. But the lack of any apparent portal, at least, made victory possible without a nuclear strike.
As Wanda summarized his own intentions, Asher nodded in confirmation. Best not to leave themselves vulnerable once the last of the massive beasts was down, because the Chitauri could take them out just as easily, even if they couldn't cause as much damage to the surrounding buildings. Luckily, the jets entering the fray seemed to be targeting them as well, which meant that many less aliens wanting to kill them when they got the chance to catch their breath.
The missiles, however, were the more immediately useful support. The pilots' aim, thankfully, was good enough not to catch either of them in the resulting explosions, though Asher could still feel the heat from every blast putting dents in its armor. The debris from the buildings the beast was crashing into came closer to hitting them, but Wanda seemed to be doing a good job of keeping them out of harm's way.
Waiting for the energy bolts and missiles to break through, Asher couldn't do much damage himself. He did, however, make a point of throwing quick bolts of lightning at his side of the Leviathan's face whenever it would change direction and try to fly toward the blockade or the jets above. His electricity couldn't break its armor, but he didn't doubt it did a good job of pissing it off and putting its attention back on him.
Briefly surprised at the voice in his head, Asher quickly recognized it as Wanda's and wasn't terribly shocked to find that someone with telekinetic abilities had telepathic ones as well. More importantly, though, its armor was cracked, and that was his cue to take the beast down. Figuring if she could speak to him mentally, she could read his thoughts as well, he shot back, Alright, I'm gonna hop on top of it then. Just get ready to catch me again in a sec.
Unable to signal the jets to stop their assault, Asher instead waited for the brief pause in attack while the jets changed position before sticking himself to the Leviathan's armor with a bit of electromagnetism. Knowing that he might be short on time before he'd be caught up in the blast from one of the jets, Asher glanced around quickly, grabbing the first bit of metal debris from the missiles he could find and jamming it into one of the cracks in the creature's armor covering its head. Not quite the lightning rod that the Asgardian woman's spear had been, but it'd do.
And he was already heading off the other side to where Wanda was, only turning to let his electricity fly and strike the chunk of metal wedged into its armor, leading the deadly voltage down to its brain. And as the next missiles followed and struck the dying beast, Ash jumped off the side, trusting Wanda would be able to regain her mental grip on him without much trouble, now he was practically beside her again.
