[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Kayley Ryan ALIAS: Glitch, Kay AGE: 22 OCCUPATION: Professional deadbeat, part-time competitive gamer, petty crook, hacker, party girl MEMBER GROUP: Mutants POWERS AND ABILITIES: - ’glitching’ - The ability to enter, control, and disrupt electrical devices. She’s able to manipulate anything electrical from computer systems to cameras to anything in between. Giving her the ability to severely disrupt and even break devices, not on a physical level but instead being able to read and rewrite systems through physical contact with the targeted device. - ’Natural Static’ – Even without physical contact with devices she emits a natural form of static that affects systems in her general vicinity, this can give her a form of ‘stealth’ wherever she is as camera systems suddenly go on the fritz whenever she walks by. This can also help her ‘screw’ with more dangerous systems like automated defense systems. PLAYBY: Cara Delevigne OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Marty AGE: 25 GENDER: A dude TIMEZONE: GMT +1 OTHER CHARACTERS: Megan Hopkins @db @shiroiakuma [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: - Video Games – She doesn’t just like them, she loves them and she’s positively addicted to gaming and the culture surrounding it. The harder the game, the better, the worse it’s coded the harder it is for her. The only thing that makes it less fun is her mutant abilities giving her a natural advantage almost comparable to the AI itself. - Hanging out in arcades – Just like the video games above, she loves old games from before she was even born. From Pac-Man to frogger to double dragon, she loves hanging out in arcades and play obscure systems, and hustle people for it at the same time… - Music – Wherever she goes she’s listening to music in some form, through her headphone or even by controlling audio devices itself to have it play literally in her head. It helps her calm down and simply enjoy life. - Energy Drinks – It’s a clear addiction, but not one she’s planning on giving up. She loves the sugar-rush that comes with it and it helps her focus when she’s busy doing whatever semi-illegal act she’s doing. - The Streets – She raised herself on the streets of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and every other major city, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She loves loitering around, hanging out with likeminded people. She doesn’t mind being part of the ‘dregs’ and tends to find those people infinitely more fun and entertaining than the ‘ordinary people’. She’s an outcast and proud of it. - Parties and Clubbing – Despite living from locale to locale, she somehow always manages to have enough money to go partying whenever she so damn pleases. Whether that’s a good old rave party, or a gamer party, she lives to enjoy herself. - Freedom – Not having to show responsibility to anyone is the most liberating experience in the world, she lives her own life and there’s nobody that will tell her what to do and how to act. - Skateboarding – A great way to have a great time, and they’re mighty handy to outrun authority whilst looking cool doing it. Wherever she goes, oftentimes a skateboard follows. - Painting – Even though she won’t win any awards with her work, it’s a way for her to express herself by just putting on some hard music and letting loose on a canvas, it’s her art, and whether you like it or not, she cares for it. - Tattoos – She loves to express herself, and part of that expression is body art. Just like painting on canvas, she uses her body the same way, every good and bad experience is etched into her skin as a living testament of who she is and where she’s been. - Traveling – She’s seen so many places in the continental USA, it’ll make your head spin. She’s a free spirit and will go wherever she feels like going, whether that’s looking at the world’s biggest ball of yarn or camping on top of Mount Rushmore. She loves seeing the world and making a permanent mark on every place she’s been. - Good looking dudes who like to party – She’s about as shallow as they come when it comes to ‘relationship’, if they party and have a nice set of abs she’s into them. At least until the next morning and then she’s gone with the wind again. - Party Drugs – Well she doesn’t necessarily like the thought of them, but the effects of them are quite pronounced and enjoyable to her. She’s susceptible to peer pressure and doing drugs to enhance her party experience, or simply keep her concentrated and focused. It’s not exactly something to be proud of, and she’ll fight anyone that calls her a junkie, but it’s something she likes nonetheless. DISLIKES: - Hangovers – They’re the worst and she wants every scientist in the world to find her a find a cure for the affliction. Perhaps she should party less, and party less hard, but that’s complete crazy talk! - Serious people – People that are serious are boring, whether it were here parents telling her what she should become or other people thinking they could teach her anything, she doesn’t care about none of them and does whatever she wants. As such she only cares for people that let her be herself. - Cops and authority – Through her loose party behavior, living on the street, and general semi-illegal mischief, she’s been in contact with the authorities more time than she could count. And as a result they both have a cold relation towards each other. She doesn’t care much for cops or the so-called ‘authority’ they have, and no matter how many times she spends a night in a cell, she’ll be making the same mistakes over and over again. - Anti-Mutants – They’re massive assholes, as simple as that. She didn’t choose to have powers, and she won’t stand for extremist idiots spreading their idiot ideas to others. - Entitled people – They’re massive assholes too - Assholes in general – See above - Hipsters - Sure, most of the times she’s one herself, but she really has a hard time liking anyone who openly identifies as ‘hipster’, they’re all a bunch of try-hard wannabe d-bags who think they look cool. - Vegetables – Unless it’s combined with something extremely unhealthy, she hates vegetables. Call her childish and petulant, but there’s no way she’s ever going to finish her greens. - Her Parents – They always had expectations of her that she had no interest in fulfilling, and many years went by of them trying to fit her into their perfect little mold of what a perfect little daughter should be, and she outright refused to let her control every aspect of her life. They were the ones that forced her into running away and finding freedom, and in a way they made her what she is today. But as far as she’s concerned her parents don’t exist. - Her big brother – Always the beacon of perfection in the family, the straight A student who made his way into an Ivy League education, who found a perfect wife and started a perfect little family with a litter of perfect kids. Her brother is everything that she is not, he’s charismatic and successful and lives a privileged life with high class friends surrounding him. STRENGTHS: - Independent minded – She’s been caring for herself for over a decade, and she’s not inclined in giving up her independence for whoever. Whether that be life itself, or organizations that want to have her use her powers for good/evil. - Resourceful – Having to find a way to live has made her very able to think on her feet and find solutions to things that most people would give up on. She’s found ways to get money, she’s found ways to get out of trouble for the most parts. - Computers and everything that looks like them – With her mutant abilities she can control and infiltrate whatever system she wants without much effort or even knowledge about such things as coding or whatever. It’s a second nature to her, almost like breathing, she wants something and her subconscious (and abilities) do the work for her. WEAKNESSES: - Being a degenerate – You won’t be able to get her to shut up about things she should keep her mouth shut about, and don’t think you can sit her at a table and expect her to play her part. She’s crass and she’s impatient, and she’s about as feral as someone might be if she’s not doing whatever she wants to do. - Overly independent – She’s so independent that she often has trouble seeing the need to ask help when she needs help. She’s stubborn and prideful, and she tends to keep most people at arms distance to make sure they’re not too close. Which means that if she gets in trouble she’s all alone to deal with it. - Peer pressure – Despite truly knowing so little people, she often goes out of her way to be the life of the party even if that means crossing some lines that shouldn’t be crossed. With a little bit of pushing she can be made to do things that she shouldn’t be doing, and she’s been in contact with various types of vices over the years, some of which are harder to shake than others. - Addictive Personality – She enjoys anything that feels good, and that includes certain narcotics too. Whilst she’s dabbled around she asserts she controls her vices rather than the other way around, but you can never be certain if that’s true or not. - She’s a bit of a bitch – Even towards her friends she can come across as a strained personality, and especially when reality comes knocking and her ‘friends’ are doing things more responsible she tends to lash out towards them and question them about their conviction. - Lack of compassion – Even though she shows some emotion towards people in need, especially people she identifies with, ultimately she’s there for herself and she’s self-centered about her own issues. She doesn’t talk about her issues, and she doesn’t really care about others their issues. So if the story gets too soppy, she turns around and walks away. - Lack of motivation – With a lack of responsibility comes a lack of caring, she simply isn’t motivated to do anything that requires effort, unless she truly wants to do it. When the going gets tough, she doesn’t get going and rather finds something else to keep herself busy. - Small Stature – She’s not tall and she’s not very strong either, she’s also not a very good fighter and anyone who is clear of mind could easily overpower her. As such she tends to stay out of fights at all times. GOALS: - Enjoy life to the fullest, it’s a really simple goal and sure it might not be as special as curing diseases or making a lot of money, but she doesn’t care about it, she just wants to live her life. - Travel the world, she’s mostly been inside the country when it comes to traveling around, but one day she wants to grab a bag and travel the entire globe to visit every nation under the sun, what she’ll do when she gets there she doesn’t know, but she wants to be there. FEARS: - Losing her freedom – Whether that’s being locked up because she finally messed up enough, or being controlled by people either through evil ways. She’s deathly afraid of losing her freedom in any sort of way. - Growing up and responsibility – It’s the last thing she’d want, and she’ll fight with tooth and claw to make sure it’ll never happen to her. It sounds petty and childish, but she’d rather die than having to conform to societies demands. - Her Father and Brother – She’s the little dirty secret of her family and they are no doubt afraid that she’d one day fuck up badly and give her entire family a bad name, although she doesn’t care, she’s always afraid that her family will find her and force her back into the life she fought so hard to escape. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Most of the time Kayley can be described as an easy going free spirit that isn't judgmental or critical of herself or others around her, she tends to just let life go by and do her own thing almost always. Her attitude on the other hand is less perfect in many ways, a lot of people will no doubt have issues with her completely careless attitude towards herself or others around her, opting to do nothing rather than anything, her laziness can rub many people the wrong way and as such many people can have issues with her. And even though she's easy, she has little patience in her own endeavors and towards people. When she wants things to happen they need to happen then and there, and if it doesn't happen she gets annoyed and downright pissy about it. Also she tends to lash out towards people criticizing her behavior, refusing to let anyone tell her off or 'lecture' her. Kayley has a fierce independent streak stemming from a past where everyone had everything planned out for her and didn't allow her to do anything without explicit permission from her parents. Those moments in life have turned her against her family, and many people of authority too, refusing to let anyone talk her down or keep her from doing what she wants to do. Any order she'll quickly disregard before setting off and doing it anyway. Having lived on the streets at various stages of her life, she has also become very pliable in her general behavior. A need to fit in and be a part of certain groups have given her a bit of an addictive personality, and peer pressure can certainly influence her into doing things she shouldn't be doing, whether that is criminal behavior or illicit substance abuse. Her need to fit in with certain groups to get by is the only one not strongly affected by her independent streak, she'll still be her 'cheerful' self, but she certainly fears the possibility of being ousted from her social circles. Lastly she's inquisitive when she wants to be, without regard for her own behavior or others their reactions she can push herself into situations she isn't supposed to be, and despite not being a fighter or having any sort of offensive ability she can be fierce and at times downright foolish in her behavior. This certainly means that she can and will get into trouble, arguably trouble that she can't get out of on her own. OVERALL HISTORY: Glitch was born in Chicago, Illinois with the name Kayley Ryan. Daughter of an affluent city politician and a wealthy debutante, her entire life had already been planned out before she had even been born. In the eyes of her demanding parents it was a perfect life where she’d play classical instruments, would go to university, and become a proud member of the Ryan family just like her eight year older brother Gavin. But early on in her life it became unequivocally clear that she was going to be everything other than what her parents had planned out for her, she was rebellious and tomboyish, and often got into trouble even as a young child. Everything her parents forbade her to do she did the exacty opposite as a way to show that she wanted freedom and breathing space, and wanted to choose her own life rather than be the perfect doll she was made out to be. But instead of allowing her to live her life, her parents became angry and even more demanding, punishing her heavily whenever she failed to fulfill their expectations and belittling her in front of her friends and everyone else that was in earshot. The only option her parents seemed to have was to mentally try to break her and hurt her in the most vicious of ways, by playing with her emotions and taking away everything she cared for. They tossed toys into the fireplace, they cut up clothing she liked, and they prevented her from seeing the friends she had made. They even went as far as socially isolating her in a way to get her to fly straight, her cries for attention and respect fell on deaf ears as their parents instead focused all their undying attention on her older brother instead, who opposite of her was exactly what they had wanted. He was a straight-A student with a budding flair for politics even in his early teens, who obeyed every command and fulfilled every wish his parents had for her. She quickly learn to hate her brother with a fiery passion that lives on to this day, her brother that had been given everything by her parents, every ounce of love that she hadn’t gotten was given to her older sibling and instead of letting their daughter live her own life they made sure to praise and reward her brother for everything he did. In an attempt to get the daughter they wanted, they created a rift that would never be healed, a wound that would never close and a bitter anger that would only cause Kayley to become more and more rebellious as she went older. She was sent away from many a private boarding school through her crass and degenerate behavior, sending shame on her family for trying to control her life in every way. She was punished more and more, but in turn she lashed out harder and harder… At least, until the limit was reached. On her thirteenth birthday nothing happened, nobody congratulated her and nobody sent her any sort of indication of love and affection. She was essentially dead to her parents and brother, and friends she no longer had due to the extreme punishment she had been given over the year. And on that birthday something in her head snapped and mentally she finally had found the limit of abuse she could take. She had filled a backpack and simply ran away, no destination in mind and simply finding a place where she would be appreciated, a place where she could live her life the way she wanted to live. The first destination in her life was Chicago, the same city she was born in, the same city she was raised next to. She roamed the streets and tried to find her place, weeks went by and slowly her reserves of food dried up and she ended up forcing herself to steal food from stores and carts. She lived in homeless shelters and anywhere else she could crash for the night. Eventually a small group noticed the young teenager and they offered her something she had never known, a family, a place that she was safe and people she could trust and even show affection to. They were a ragged band of people that were outcasts to society, runaways, junkies, and small time criminals alike. None of them were perfect, none of them were capable of raising anyone, but she accepted them all as her extended family. They kept each other out of trouble, they fed each other when the other was unable to do it themselves. And they taught her how to survive on the streets and become a fully qualified member of the group. Years went past, and she saw people come and go, some found a new lease in life, others had a less positive goodbye, either going to prison or finding their end in other ways. It was a rough life, but regardless of that she had grown up into a young woman who could handle herself. In those years she had stumbled upon another ability, in a freak moment she had been earning money working part time in an arcade when suddenly all the machines around her started to malfunction and show errors. And every time she’d move away the errors stopped happening. This static became worse and worse and after a while she was fired for breaking the machines around her, even though it wasn’t her fault, technically. That was the first time her powers had manifested, and it slowly started to daunt on her that she wasn’t an ordinary human, that she was a mutant instead. Time went by and she found a way to control the ‘static’ that she emitted, preventing her from breaking devices by simply being around them, but still at all times causing devices to show some kind of ‘Glitch’ whenever she was near them. It wasn’t her idea, but one of the group’s member found it funny to nickname her as such, and the nickname stuck around until it became more her first name than her actual first name. The members of the group saw the potential in messing with systems, both for mischief and more nefarious goals. From petty shoplifting they evolved into more serious crimes, as they used her innate abilities to hold up stores and get away with no one caught on camera. But as much as the group enjoyed their new found possibilities, they did it more out of their own game rather than the boon for the entire group. And unbeknownst to her she was being watched, one of the members had told the secret to the wrong person and that person was more than interested in the abilities the young mutant possessed. But instead of kidnapping her outright, they did it in a more controlled manner. She met someone from another street group, and in no time at all they hit it off perfectly. Kayley was head over heels in love with the guy who seemingly was a match made in heaven, he liked the same things she liked, he shared the same ideas too, they even shared a comparable background. In every possible way the guy was perfect in her eyes, and like a puppy she followed him around wherever he went. She simply couldn’t imagine living without him, and she’d do anything to be with him. Even though her own group showed issues, they knew better than to try to decide for Kayley and simply let her live her own life and find her own way. And when the guy (named Nicollo, or ‘nicky’) told her he was moving to Los Angeles she followed suit and joined him on his journey to the other side of the nation. She was alone, with only Nicky to keep her comfort. But she wouldn’t have it any other way, they were meant for each other after all, and they didn’t need anyone else in their lives to be perfectly happy together. But their relationship had a darker side, where Kayley knew what people to stay away from, Nicollo instead had aspirations of being something more. And as a result he hooked up with the worst crowd imaginable, one day he told Kayley he was in deep money trouble and the only way he could get out of it was through the help of Kayley. What she didn’t know was that everything about him was a charade from the beginning, but instead of realizing what a fake scumbag he was, she was too in love with him to say no to his request. And this meant she wasn’t just helping him get money, she was unwittingly being trained to be more than just a walking form of static. She was put through her paces to find her skills, and before she knew it she ended up clearing out an ATM by merely touching the machine for a few seconds. That moment she realized she was more powerful than she had ever imagined, and she quickly found out that she couldn’t just mess with ATM’s, but she could mess with any device that ran on whatever kind of code, without any need for learning. Purely by nature she was able to hack into any sort of device merely through physical touch, and she was essentially the ultimate hacker purely through her powers. The moment she mastered those abilities her life started to unravel completely, one day Nicky wasn’t there anymore, disappeared complete off of the face of the earth. Instead who she saw was who she thought was Nicky, but dressed in a perfectly fitting suit. He looked like Nicky, he sounded like Nicky, but the simple truth was that he was completely somebody else than she had learned to love. She had been played by forces she didn’t understand, and ‘Nicky’ was simply a person playing a role in a perfectly crafted attempt to palm Kayley into doing whatever they wanted her to do. Naturally he hadn’t expected her to find out on her own terms, and as a result it meant that it shattered her heart, the only person she trusted had turned out to be a liar, and no soothing words from him could change the fact. She reacted, violently even, she couldn’t hurt Nicky but she made clear that she wanted nothing to do with him or whoever he was working for. And to make sure that he would never find her again she ran away once more. Leaving Los Angeles she roamed once more, across the country making her own money as she saw fit with the skills she had learned in the past years. Every time the local police looked at her funny she made sure to be gone before they had any chance to grab her. She roamed the country and went from county to county and state to state. Eventually reaching the ‘capital’ of the world, New York City. Just in time for the entire city to be physically uprooted by an alien incursion that was stopped by a man in a suit of iron, a god of thunder, a green giant, and a hero that was supposed to be dead. Manhattan was turned into a warzone for a day, and in the chaos she was saved by someone she had never met before. An older guy who was known as ‘Dex’ had pulled him out of harm’s way at the last second and saved her life. And the man asked nothing in return, no demands, no expectations, no interest in her abilities. The man simply did it out of the kindness of his hearts with no strings attached. Needing to know the city better, she tagged along with Dex and he made sure to teach her the in’s and outs of the big apple, getting her acquainted with the various street groups and making sure she landed on her feet, even giving her a place to crash whenever she wasn’t able to find a place to stay. They became friends, the older Dex acting like a dysfunctional older brother towards the younger Kayley, helping her when she got in trouble and supplying her with any favor she needed as long as she had the money for it. And luckily her powers made sure she could get her hands on money when she needed it. He was her supplier just as much as a friend, but it a person she could trust, whom it was more than obvious that he wasn’t dangerous and simply another person of the streets, rather than someone who’d play her for bigger forces. Having settled in the city, she lives her own life in her own way, still eschewing any sort of responsibility purely for the sake of having a great time as much as she can and as often as she can. She doesn’t care about picking sides and only really cares about living her life…[/PTab][PTab=IMAGE][/PTab][/PTabbedContent={width:485px;border:0px;margin-left:-2px;}] |

Most of Kayley's early life is very much comparable to what has been written. She's born to a wealthy family of politicians, lawyers, and businessmen and women. Her parents were very much extremely strict in forming their daughter's life in just the way they wanted to see it be formed. Whether that was telling her how to dress, act, learn, and even think.
Just the same, Kayley fought back against the forced teachings of her parents, and didn't care much for the life of a wealthy debutante that would get the finest education and upbringing money could buy. Her tomboyish persona was very much there, and her parents very much went above and beyond in trying to punish their daughter in following their lessons.
But at one point, everything changed. Her prodiguous brother -Gavin, who is ten year's the elder of Kayley- has always had the favor of their parents, showing extraordinary talent in law that put him in the center of attention of not just their parents, but the entire extended family, and many of the connected friends and colleagues. A true rising star, one that had both the adoration and envy of his contemporaries. A man truly with the world at his feet.
For Kayley it formed a ready made contempt for her more talented, more beloved sibling. Suffering under the crushing expectations of what her brother had started, it was only to be expected for her to be on par with her naturally gifted sibling. After all, both of them had to bring pride and further success to the family, and the extraordinary accomplishments of her brother wouldn't make the demands any less massive.
But on Christmas day, in Kayley's 14th year. Tragedy struck, as Gavin was struck by an uncontrollable truck which ended his life in an instant. And would forever change the life of Kayley, her parents, and everyone else. And any thought of rebellion, of running away from it all, were killed alongside her brother.
Fully realizing the fragility of life, and understanding how blessed her life truly was. Kayley's rebellious spirit finally succumbed under the pressure, this time not just having to equal her brother, but to also do his memory honor by fulfilling the potential that was cut short in her brother.
It took longer than expected, but finally her parents got the submissive yet driven daughter they had tried to create. One that was finally willing to go along with their plans, and fulfill the future they saw in her. For years she still struggled shaking off her old personality, but not wanting to disappoint her family, she managed to suppress it well enough.
She also learned a lot, from private school to additional private tutoring to get rid of any deficit she had put upon herself during her rebellious years. Kayley learned politics from her father, and matters in law from both her parents. And also dabbling in other fields that would no doubt serve her well in the future.
On the backs of her parents affluence, she also enrolled into Harvard, allowing her to be given the finest college education money and power could buy. And even being to excel amongst the finest of her peers. She would graduate with the highest possible honors, and in combination of her family's extensive connections, she truly had the world at her feet when it came to making a choice about the future.
Additionally to all of that, her x-gene eventually unlocked, giving her powers of the technopathic variety. But out of fear of it tarnishing the family's reputation, these abilities have been kept firmly under wraps, with the majority of her own extended family not even knowing that she is a mutant. As a result she has mostly only had the chance to improve at it herself, which has somewhat limited her potential, but still has made her able to infiltrate computer systems in a stealthy manner, and using it to gain an edge over any competition...
To make her life even more complicated, her family's rise to wealth and affluence through foreground success has been mostly facilitated through extremely shady back-office dealings. Taking on big debts with criminal elements the world over, from Metropolita to Madripoor, with debts rumoured to even go as far as such people as Madam Masque. And as a result Kayley's talent and powers make her an extremely valuable bargaining chip in paying off such debts, being effectively an indentured servant to pay off the biggest of debts.
