[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Jonathan 'Johnny' Storm ALIAS: Soon to become The Human Torch AGE: 21 OCCUPATION: Mechanic, track driver, stunt-man. MEMBER GROUP: Fantastic Four POWERS AND ABILITIES: Johnny currently has no superhuman abilities. However, after exposure to cosmic ray bombardment, he will develop the following powers: Pyrokinesis Johnny's first and foremost power, which all his others branch from, is the ability to control heat energy through sheer mind-power. His body no longer converts foodstuff into the usual form of energy required to power the human body, but instead into a unique energy-yielding module which forms the basis of his abilities. This gives him the following sub-abilities: Fire Form At will, Johnny can transform either part of all of his body into a plasma-based flame form. At low intensity this plasma will average at around 780F, which is what Johnny will maintain unless consciously attempting to increase the intensity. This plasma is a mixture of liquid and gas in nature, meaning that projectile attacks simply pass straight through his body without causing damage when he is fully engulfed in the flames. While he can maintain full plasma form for over half a day if needed, he will eventually deplete his active and reserve energy sources. This will cause him to return to non-plasma state. Like all flames, Johnny needs oxygen to be able to "burn", and environments with low or zero levels of oxygen in the air will render him unable to change into his fire form. Fire Manipulation Through mental willpower, Torch can manipulate shapes and forms using the flames generated from his body. These shapes can retain their form for short periods of time even after being fully detached from his body, carrying a burn time of 2 to 3 minutes if left unhindered before they will burn out.The temperature of these disconnected forms varies depending on the energy Johnny initially places into it, ranging from his own ambient temperature of 780F up to 2800F. Flame Blasts As part of his fire manipulation abilities, Torch can use blasts of heated plasma as a weapon, shooting off fireballs, waves and continuous streams of fire at will. This can be done for prolonged periods of time if required, and doesn't greatly drain on his power reserves (except in the case of continuously streaming flames, which can wear him down eventually). "Going Nova" Pushing his potentials to the limit will return in the Human Torch hitting 'nova'. When in this form, his core temperature exceeds anything on record (and as such is un-recordable), though this core heat is largely retained within the centre of his form and dissipates to cooler temperatures the further from his body you go. Once he has reached this state, he can release all of his body's stored plasmatic energy in an omni-directional blast of around 1,000,000F, with a range of around 900ft. This will utilize all of his reserve energy, however, meaning he will not be able to use his flame form for around 12 hours. Should here merely stay in nova form without releasing the energy, he will eventually be able to retain that level of power within his person for most of the day, though such a thin will take training. Flight Due to the dramatic increase in hydrogen content in his plasma form and the super-headed cloud around him, Johnny is able to lift his plasma-form from the ground in flight. As well as being able to reach a maximum speed of around 140MPH without exertion, he holds the potential to reach supersonic speeds with enough training. He can also carry a little over his body-weight in cargo, though this can affect the speeds which he is able to reach with ease. Whilst in slight, he can also shoot blasts of heated plasma. Thermokinesis As well as having control over his own body temperature, Johnny can also control the heat energy of his surroundings and other objects. He can cool things to around 30F, but his real skill lies in heating things up, able to super-heat the air around him or objects he is in physical contact with to several hundred degrees. Over time, he will be able to increase his contact radius so that he will not have to be in physical contact with an object to alter its temperature, though he will still have to concentrate on it. One of the passive effects of this power is that his body is always absorbing heat energy from the environment around him. While he is usually capable to managing this intake, excessive temperature input can result in him spontaneously combusting into flame. He can still use this ability even when his power stores are depleted, and can even speed up the 'recharge' of his power by absorbing high amounts of heat energy over a period of time. Thermo-Immunity His body has adapted to the high-temperature nature of his abilities, rendering him immune to heat and burning. He does not have to be in his plasma flame form to have this immunity, nor does he need to have any of his power stores full. Mechanic Having never been academically minded, his talent for mechanics was leapt on by his parents and teachers the moment he showed aptitude for it, and it soon became his best skill. Johnny is not only able to fix existing mechanical devices, but also possesses the knowledge and understanding to design his own creations and prototype them accordingly, generally with positive results. PLAYBY: Zac Efron OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: KJ AGE: I am ageless GENDER: Yes TIMEZONE: GMT OTHER CHARACTERS: Dr. Banner and Loki [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: Thrill Seeker Much to the dismay of those who care about him, Johnny is a huge adrenaline junkie who only pays cursory attention to his personal safety. While he's always loved fast cars and bikes, his aunt was particularly despairing when he started to get into stunt biking and extreme sports. From back-flips on motorcycles to white-water rafting, Johnny has done it all. And if he hasn't done it yet, you can bet your ass it's on his bucket list! As well as an aptitude with motor vehicles, he's also a talented skateboarder, roller-blader, rock-climber and skier, among other things! Center Of Attention Johnny loves the spotlight, loves to be the guy people turn and look at when he walks into a room. He's developed a very outgoing and confident demeanor that helps him achieve this, and will unconsciously alter his personality to whichever will garner him the most attention. He can play it cool or be the class clown, whichever option will get eyes looking his way. Grease Monkey Mechanics are not just a talent of Johnny's, but a passion. He harbors an equal interest in motor vehicles, cars in particular, and has a list as long as his arm of cars he'd love to own in the future. While he loves the thrill of racing, he also cannot wait to get cars back to the pits afterwards so he can work under the hood. Rockstar Johnny loves music, but even more desirable than rock itself is the rock star lifestyle. Nothing seems more awesome to Storm than to be rich and famous, paparazzi on every corner, getting invited to all the big parties... Sure, he might be a bit of a living legend among his own circle of friends, but that was nothing compared to actual fame. He'd get there, he'd make sure of it. In the meanwhile, he'd replicate it as best he could with parties, drinking, hook-ups, and whatever else takes his fancy at any given time. Add Me On Facebook A person's popularity was measured only in how many Facebook friends and phone-book contacts they have, and Johnny loves to have a huge circle of friends. He is an avid user of social media and adds almost everyone he meets to his Facebook profile within the briefest of times knowing them. He is the kind of guy who'll update his status multiple times a day, posting photos of almost every action, making sure he looks perfect in every shot. DISLIKES: Nothin' To Doooo~ The devil makes work for idle hands. Johnny hates being bored, and makes it his personal mission to never have a lack of things to do. Sure, those things don't necessarily have to be productive, but he cannot just sit around eating chips and watching TV for hours on end. At the most he can perhaps play a video game along for two or three hours, but boredom will quickly creep up on him. On his off-days, it's not unusual to find him in the garage working on his own car, or one of a friend or neighbor. One Is The Loneliest Number Company is the best thing for keeping Johnny happy, which explains why he loves to have such a deep pool of friends and acquaintances to call upon. He rarely wants to be alone, and whereas some people may seek out solitude when stressed, he will seek the opposite. They don't have to be people he knows particularly well, indeed he doesn't need to really know them at all! Simply being in the presence of others is enough for him. You're Not My Mom Johnny has had issues with authority since he was young, a trait his aunt has put down to the largely absent parental figures he and his sister had before being released into her care. He particularly hates being ordered around by Sue, seeing no reason why her being a little older than him gave her any authority over him whatsoever. He showed a similar disdain towards his professors in school and college, and even the police are met with a level of exasperation from the young man. A good way to make sure Johnny doesn't do something is to try and enforce the fact that he must, simply as he likes the act of rebellion. Sticks And Stones Being one of the 'cool kids' meant Johnny could have sailed through the social tests that every school kid was subjected to with ease. However, he had an issue with bullies that soon gave him a reputation as the guy not to be messed with. Even if the kid being picked on was someone he'd never personally give the time of day, he'd still step in if he saw them being abused by another, especially if the abuse was physical. He has never had an older male figure to look out like that for him in his life, and doesn't like the idea that others might be similarly lost. His dislike for bullies has continued into his adult life, and it is very hard to push Johnny Storm around. At Arm's Length He's already lost his mother, and will likely never see his father again (not that he wants to), and as such is hesitate to get too heavily attached to anyone. Oh, he'll form friendships and romances, sure, but he will rarely open up fully to another person, choosing instead to hide behind his bravado. His sister is the perfect example of someone he knows he is attached to and so makes an effort to distance himself from in case of the no-doubt certain eventuality that she'll also leave. It's "Johnny" 'Jonathan' is a name generally reserved for when he is being chided, or when his great-aunt is too exasperated for his antics. As such, the name carried a vaguely negative connotation for him, and he hates it when people call him 'Jonathan'. It's 'Johnny', nothing else, to the point that he'd get the damn thing changed legally, were it not for the fact he can still vaguely remember his mother calling his 'Jonathan', and it being a good thing... STRENGTHS: One thing that's hard to deny about Johnny Storm is that he's a brave and occasionally selfless individual, throwing himself into danger and potential harm without huge concern for his own safety is another needs aid. His love for thrills has no doubt aided this, giving him a feeling of invincibility that means that, as well as being brave, he simply does not always perceive just how much danger he might be in. Still, one might assume that his strengths in cars and social skills would show a weakness in academics... and you'd be partly correct. However, Johnny isn't an idiot, and as well as being a very street-smart individual, he also has excellent problem-solving skills, especially when mechanics are involved. While he might not be good at algebra on paper, his knowledge of building engines and structures allows him to understand such things in a practical sense, which has unknowingly helped him out multiple times without ever truly noticing it. Sure, he might not be able to figure out a long equation by looking at it, but he can spot a structural weakness without ever knowing how he can figure out such things. While he's not keen to attach to others, when he does he becomes a very protective and defensive individual when it comes to those people, and will go out of his way to keep them safe and happy, even to his own detriment. While he'd never admit it, he'd very likely take a bullet for Susan without a second thought for his own safety, unable to stand the idea of someone so important to him getting hurt when he is able to somehow prevent it. WEAKNESSES: Johnny really hates talking about his father, avoiding the topic wherever possible. He used to get frustrated simply hearing people talking about their own fathers, but has managed to decrease that level of sensitivity over the years. Still, when the matter related directly to his own father then he will instantly become stand-offish and defensive, doing whatever he can to re-direct the subject or distract the questioner. Should they be insistent then he will become down-right rude and refuse to comment on the matter. If his father is a good way to pause him, then Sue Storm is very much the opposite. Seeing his sister in any sort of distress (be it physical or emotional) is a sure-fire way to grab Johnny's attention and spur him into action. Sure, he's often mean to his sister in his own kind of way, but that level of sibling rivalry and squabbling is natural. When push comes to shove, however, he will jump to his sister's aid when it is needed without question, which is a very exploitable trait in the wrong hands. Quite aside from these two, Johnny's arrogance is quite easy to turn against him. He places himself above others and often feels he is beyond needing to ask for help, striking out on his own even if he is outnumbered or outmatched. Despite being a social butterfly, he does still keep enough distance from others that he doesn't really allow himself to depend on anyone in an emergency, leaving him to deal with problems on his own. GOALS: Let's face it, who doesn't want fame and fortune in their lives, right? It's the life that Johnny strives towards and while he's not sure how he'll achieve this goal, he knows he'll manage it somehow. His upcoming career in racing and stunt driving seems a step in the right direction, but he wants to see his face in Time Square instead of in biking magazines, and that's gonna take more than just a few back-flips as he drives off a ramp. That'll take something... fantastic. FEARS: There is no greater worry than solitude in Johnny's life. He cannot imagine a life where he is completely and utterly alone, devoid of all human contact. Indeed, the idea of solitary confinement for long periods of time makes him feel sick to his stomach, and such a thing would quickly break him should it ever happen. Similarly, he fears the idea of losing either his sister or great-aunt, and prefers not to think about these things ever happening. For Johnny, fears are things best left unthought of in an 'ignorance is bliss' sort of mind-set. OVERALL PERSONALITY: If there's a fight, you can be sure that Johnny Storm will be one of the first to throw himself into it to try and break it up. If there's a party, you don't need two guesses to know who'll be in the middle of the crowd doing a keg-stand. Johnny Storm is a living legend among his buddies, and hopes one day to extend that circle to the entire world. A highly impulsive and confident young man, Johnny's enthusiasm and optimism can often be quite addictive to those around him, a fact that he will happily use to his advantage. He loves to be the centre of everyone's attention and will be intentionally over-the-top and flashy to keep things that way. He is generally a good-natured young man, but can be a little... 'hot-headed', shall we say, should anyone push his buttons. While Johnny is undoubtedly a 'good guy' at heart, he is far from a paragon of virtue and justice. He has his vices just like anyone else, and while he might hate cruel-spirited bullying that doesn't mean he's beyond a little light-hearted ribbing of those close to him. Indeed, you are a very unfortunate soul if Johnny selects you as a target for his jokes and pranks as, so long as you give him the reactions he is looking for, he can be excessively relentless.. HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: Long Island, New York RESIDENCE: Glenville, NYC, at the home of his Great-Aunt Marygay who is the legal guardian of himself and his sister. PARENTS: Mary Storm (deceased in a car crash) and Franklin Storm (incarcerated for a several crimes, the most severe being murder). SIBLINGS: Sue Storm (older sister, and irritating know-it-all) IMPORTANT PERSON: Too many to count! This guy needs a Little Black Book to keep track of it all... OVERALL HISTORY: Every cool story starts with orphans, right? Well, Johnny Storm's tale doesn't quite start like that. Sure, he lost his mom at a relatively early age when she was killed in a car accident, but they still had their father to fall back on. Indeed, if Franklin Storm had been the same man he was when his wife still lived them the Storm family may have actually turned out okay, but some men simply couldn't handle the loss of a loved one very well. Franklin tried his best to keep things together, but between the numbing sensation of alcohol and the thrill of gambling, things swiftly began to spiral out of control. If anyone noticed, they certainly didn't say anything, with young Sue and Johnny not saying a word about their fathers short-comings until it was far too late. Alcohol, a fight, and one lengthy court case later and their father was serving forty years in a state penitentiary for murder, and the two children were released into the foster care of their Great-Aunt, the only other close family member they had. A rough start, sure, but their aunt wasn't a bad woman by any lengths. Looking after two kids who'd gone through what Sue and Johnny had came with its own set of social challenges, but she did as well as she could and, for the most part, was satisfied with who they turned out to be. Susan, so intelligent, and Johnny so... Johnny. Whether it was the lack of father figure in his life or something else entirely, the somewhat quiet boy that first entered Aunt Marygay's care soon disappeared to leave behind a loud, cocky, confident young man who would happily take on the world and let nothing stand in his way. He went from withdraw to outgoing within such a short space of time, it was as if he'd simply switched himself on. His aunt, while worrying about some of his more adventurous qualities, at least never had to worry about him not having any friends, as Johnny soon had more than he could count. Admittedly, there were issues. He was more interested in being class clown than aiming for high grades, and even at home he struggled to concentrate on his homework. Hands-on subjects would always be his forté and when they discovered his talent for mechanics, everyone latched onto this skill and nurtured it as best they could. A bright and aspiring mechanic as well as a very brave boy (to the point that he rescued two of his school friends from a fire on one occasion), few people worried heavily about Johnny, certain that there were nothing in life that could truly keep him down. Still, even after completing his degree in mechanical engineering at college, he found himself back home and living with his great-aunt with no solid plan of how to continue in life. The jobs he did get never lasted too long, the young man struggling with authority to the point that fights with his bosses were soon a common cause for termination of his employment, leaving him freelancing and repairing the cars and appliances of friends and families at 'mates rates'. Despite aspiring for the high-life, he sound himself floundering somewhat as he tried to find a job that he could be passionate about. Perfect Sue, of course, didn't have the same issues. When she became involved in some weird space-science crap no-one was particularly surprised by it, Johnny least of all. However, he was surprised when his sister decided to give him a chance to actually get his career in mechanics on-track, offering him the opportunity to be involved in the latest project her department was working on as one of their engineers. Something about inter-stellar travel, or some crap like that. Johnny never really listened to the specifics, but agreed to be involved never the less. If nothing else, the pay she'd mentioned had been better than anything else he'd made at any of his jobs so far. Besides, who knew? This stupid space-program job might even change his life.
