[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Sigyn Iwaldidottir ALIAS: None AGE: 1047 OCCUPATION: Currently unemployed MEMBER GROUP: Asgardian POWERS AND ABILITIES: Though Sigyn is part Vanir, her physiology is close to an Asgardians. SUPERHUMAN STRENGTH: Sigyn is very average in her strength for a female Asgardian, being able to lift twenty-five tons at most. While this is not impressive on Asgard, Sigyn is considered fairly strong on earth, being able use her immense strength to push, pull, kick or leap and do incredible feats with relative ease. Though, she cannot enhance or increase her strength, and even twenty-five tons is pushing the limit for her. SUPERHUMAN SPEED: Sigyn, like most Asgardians, has enhanced speed. Sigyn’s reflexes are extremely fast; she is able to dodge incoming attacks and run much faster than your average Midgardian. However, she can still be easily outstripped by moving vehicles and she definitely cannot keep up with anything going at or over one hundred miles per hour. SUPERHUMAN STAMINA: Sigyn, as your average Asgardian, possesses increased stamina, allowing her to exert herself to the fullest for upwards to twenty-four hours before fatigue sets in. On Midgard it is significantly less. Sigyn finds herself having maybe only twelve hours of pushing herself before fatigue sets in. SUPERHUMAN DURABILITY: Sigyn is superhumanly durable, able to take a lot of damage from conventional means without getting a scratch. Bullets, falls, energy blasts, even high impacts will most likely not damage her, but there is only so much damage even an Asgardian can take. In addition, Sigyn is extremely average in her Asgardian powers, and so is less resistant to damage than some of her more heroic counterparts, and often can be damaged by weapons made to pierce or hard enough impacts SUPERHUMAN LONGEVITY: As with all Asgardians, Sigyn has an extended lifespan and a slower aging processes. She is over a thousand years old, yet still appears as a young woman in her early thirties. Despite this, time will continue to march on. Even she isn’t immortal or resistant to the cold embrace of death, and eventually she will show the signs of aging. REGENRATIVE HEALING FACTOR: Sigyn has an increased healing factor, allowing her to recover from injures faster than most mortals can, healing small wounds within minutes. While she heals much faster than a human, the damage she’s taken is important. The more she’s taken, the longer it will take her to recover. Sigyn also cannot regenerate limbs, and beheading is a sure way to kill her. Internal organ injuries will also take her a while to recover from. Sigyn is also immune to Midgardian Diseases. GODDESS OF FIDELITY: Sigyn, being a goddess of Fidelity, has some powers associated with it. The first of which allows her to tell when someone is being unfaithful or if they have made a promise they don’t intend to keep. Her second ability within her sphere of influence is that of the unbreakable vow; she can make it so that if one makes a promise or vow within her presence, they must attempt to fulfill it. These powers powers have to be activated, otherwise she’s unaware of cheating or broken promises. For the first abilitiy, Sigyn has to be able to see her target in question, and if its infidelity, the target must be married. If it is a promise, it has to be able to be interpreted as one. If it’s said in a non-committal way, she can’t tell if the person is sincere with her powers. For example, if one were to say that they would do it later, or put the promised task into vague terms, her powers wouldn’t apply. Sigyn can sometimes extend her ability to non-married people who are in serious, committed relationships, but doing even that is exhausting and draining. Her infidelity charms also only allow her to know that it is happening in the relationship, not who the person is cheating with or why. The second one, the unbreakable vow, has to be agreed to by all parties before she can even put it into action. The promise or vow also has to be made of the subjects free will; as such, she cannot make a mind controlled person make a vow, they have to be aware of it. Sigyn must also be present as a witness to the vow to use her ability. If she’s not present, then she can’t use her power Sorcery: Sigyn has also studied sorcery, but as she started learning it much later in life and isn’t as magically inclined as some Asgardians, her abilities with it are limited. She has learned a few things from being Frigga’s lady-in-waiting, however. She is signifigantly less powerful than Loki or Karnilla in terms of practical applications. On Midgard, she is much less adept with her learned abilities. At most, she can only use her sorcery for a few hours on the earthly plane before she is completely burned out for the day. TELEKINESIS: Through the study of magic, Sigyn has gained the ability to use telekinesis. When using her sorcery, Sigyn is able to move objects close to her, form a force field around herself or others, and levitate herself to some degree. If Sigyn wants to lift an object, it has to be within seventy-five yards of her vision. If she is using force fields, she has to put more concentration to maintaining them while she’s fighting, a dangerous gambit for her to take, considering the fact that she has no experience in the field of battle. TELEPATHY: One of the other few useful things to come from her union with Loki, Sigyn has also learned how to fog the mind and cast illusions or obfuscate things from view. She plants the vision or vision within the subjects mind, and make them think they are seeing one thing when they are not. She can also apply her telepathy to break the guise another has placed on themselves. She is nowhere near as proficient with this ability as other sorcerers, mainly because the nature of illusion is about lying or disguising the truth, and Sigyn is terrible at lying. Her illusions usually don’t work on strong willed people, and Sigyn has to work very hard at making her illusions seem convincing. She is also unable to read anyone’s mind with her telepathic ability, nor does she have the range or capabilities of any other telepathic abilities. Though she could attempt to break mental illusions, her inexperience with this ability often results with her being unsuccessful. She can also form links with other people to communicate across large distances. Sigyn cannot contact anyone she hasn’t formed a connection with. It is also extremely difficult for Sigyn to send messages across the realms, having never experienced that level of range before PROPHETIC DREAMS: Occasionally, Sigyn will get glimpses of the future in her dreams, or even in her waking state. She sometimes feel a great sense of dread before something bad happens, or will get a hunch of where something is hidden. These insights and dreams are infrequent and often muddled, with vague warnings. They are unpredictable, and Sigyn cannot always decipher them. The only dream she has had that has been completely vivid has been some of the scenes of the inescapable prophecy of Ragnarok, and she’s seen the deaths of her children. Sigyn also cannot activate this ability at all; the flashes of insight and glimpses into the future come to her when they come to her. It is up to her to decide what to do with them. WEAPONRY: Sigyn, while not trained as a warrior, has learned to use a weapon to defend herself. She specifically knows how to use a polearm, and she is also a fairly good marksman. Though she mainly uses both pieces of weaponry for hunting, she won’t hesitate to use them in a fight. Sigyn carries a glaive and a short bow. Going on the offensive for her is difficult. She isn’t a tactician nor is she a strategist, and she is more likely to make rookie mistakes. A combat experienced mortal could easily best her in terms of fighting skill. SKILS: Sewing Cooking Embroidering Knitting Gardening Survival; hunting, fishing, etc. Blacksmithing Skilled at playing the Flute Scholar; Sigyn has learned a great deal of things, and is often one who knows obscure trivia about Asgard or Vanaheim. Sorcery; While she may not be the most powerful sorceress, Sigyn does possess a good deal of knowledge about how spells and magic work. She has the technical and theoretical knowledge of how some of the more massive spells work, just not the power to apply them. PLAYBY: Laura Vandervoort OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Norse AGE: 23 GENDER: Lady TIMEZONE: EST/GMT -5 OTHER CHARACTERS: if you have any. [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: Music Cats Books Learning Cooking Singing Migardian Entertainment Traveling Midgard Children Trivia The Ocean DISLIKES: Superficiality Loki Fatalism Romantic Comedies Rats Boredom Rain Being defined by her relationships Long-windedness Stupidity Pickled Herring Egomaniacs STRENGTHS: Patient; Sigyn is effortlessly patient with many people, outside of fools that is. She is ungodly patient with children and teenagers, however, willing to suffer through a lot of their behavior. Honest; Sigyn has resolved to always tell the truth, no matter what. This is usually a good thing, as she will never ever say what one wants to hear, but more of what they need to hear. Loyal; Though incredibly hard to earn, Sigyn will be loyal to a person once her trust and faith has been put in them. Kind; Sigyn, despite being a prickly pear, is a generally kind person, and is often generous with gifts. She doesn’t judge people by how they look at all, more of how they act. Intelligent; While perhaps socially graceless, Sigyn is a fountain of ridiculous amounts of academic knowledge about Asgard and Vanaheim, and even a little of Midgard. To date, she’s taught herself eight different languages; She can read Latin and Greek, and she is capable of speaking Icelandic, Norwegian, Faroese, Danish and Swedish, though her knowledge and use of these languages is archaic. She also knows the history of Asgard like the back of her hand. WEAKNESSES: Tactless; Sigyn’s tendency to be honest in all situations often leads to her being this. She doesn’t always think before she speaks, and so more often than not she ends up coming across as insensitive Distant; Though Sigyn is a nice person, she’s often distant and untrusting of strangers, and especially distrustful of men, considering her history. Sigyn has a hard time socializing with others, and often finds herself drifting into the background of situations. Detail-Oriented; Sigyn’s years of study have led her to be a very meticulous person when it comes to research…and everything else. This unfortunately can be a set back. Sigyn often gets caught up in the details that it’s hard for her to step back and take a look at the bigger picture. Children; Sigyn is something of a mama bear when it comes to her own children, and she is often more protective and trusting of children in general. This can be a bad thing, especially where teenagers are concerned. GOALS: Sigyn wants to find herself, after having her identity be linked to another for so long. She has very little intention of returning home for a long while, and depending on how she finds Midgard, she might even stay. Her other goal is to try and find a way to avoid Ragnarok; she doesn’t care for the idea that the future is set in stone, and she’ll be damned if she doesn’t do everything in her power to prevent the deaths of her children. FEARS: Sigyn is afraid of losing her children, especially since she’s seen their fate. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Sigyn is far from the person she’s been described as in both Asgard and Midgard. Her life has not been a particularly happy one and her personality has been shaped by it, for better or worse. Sigyn is a very honest person, to the point that she will say exactly what she thinks, regardless of the situation. This is not to say that she is always brutal with her honesty, though. Sigyn is and can be a compassionate and sympathetic person. However, she will not compromise her honesty for anyone, herself included. Because of this, Sigyn does not tolerate liars very well. She is also not the type to deal with foolish people patiently, often letting these types of people take the brunt of her abrasiveness. Sigyn is often short and to the point; she dislikes people who are indirect or who dance around a subject. Her honesty and bluntness often result in Sigyn appearing insensitive and tactless to others, though she doesn’t mean to be. Her directness is off set by her rather aloof nature. Sigyn finds it difficult to trust people, men especially. As such, she has a hard time making friends. When she does make a connection with someone, she values their friendship highly, and will take her friends words into consideration when they offer her advice. While Sigyn can be compassionate and caring, and even grow to like a person, it is unlikely that she will ever view romance or marriage with any warm feelings. She is a very bitter person, especially toward that aspect of life. It will be a long time before she feels she could believe in a relationship again. Her bitter attitude toward relationships and romance tend to make her a pessimist about them, though and she is certainly not the best person to gush to about new ones. Despite her bitter feelings towards relationships and somewhat prickly nature, Sigyn is very curious about the world. Sigyn will take the time to learn anything anyone is willing to teach her, often enjoying the experience. Learning and teaching herself new things seems to be one of the few things Sigyn actually enjoys. Vali and Narvi: Her children, near and dear to her. IMPORTANT PERSON: No one yet and unlikely to happen OVERALL HISTORY: Sigyn was born from the union between Iwaldi and Freya, along with her sisters, though Sigyn never met her mother until much later. Being the middle child, Sigyn was often either overshadowed by her siblings or overlooked by her father from time to time, and occasionally even being ignored by her sisters. Because of this, Sigyn took to finding her own adventures and her own path, discovering her love of books and learning early on. Her father had also instilled her a great sense of duty and meaning what she said. As such, Sigyn didn’t give out her word lightly, unless she truly meant something by it. He also instilled a sense of hard work and having faith in yourself. Eventually, her thirst for learning led her to take an interest in her father’s craft, and Iwaldi, seeing no harm in it, taught her how to make the things he did, and eventually Sigyn got the hang of it. Her childhood years were fairly uneventful, up until it came time to go to Asgard. As they were Freya’s daughters, Iwaldi wanted a better life for them than the one they could have in Vanaheim, and so took them into the realm of the gods. The four of them arrived in Asgard, and Sigyn along with her sisters became a lady-in-waiting to Frigga. Sigyn was very interested in learning sorcery from the beginning, and her interest and studying under Frigga led her to meet one of Odin’s sons, Loki. His reputation unknown to her at the beginning, she forged a friendship with him, sharing several interests with the trickster god, especially learning sorcery. She was happy to have a companion to talk to about scholarly topics. This friendship and happiness was to be fleeting, however. Sigyn was engaged to a warrior named Theoric, and was moderately happy with the arrangement, looking more forward to the wedding than actual married life. She never dreamed that it would become one of the worst days of her life. Unbeknownst to her, Loki had gotten rid of Theoric and taken his place at the wedding. The moment the ceremony was over, Loki revealed his true form, much to the outrage of Odin and many others present. Though the All-Father did what he could, not even he could dissolve the marriage, nor could he decide what to do with Loki. Sigyn agreed to remain married to Loki because an annulment wasn’t an option, and Sigyn had given her word to be his wife, an action that she took very seriously. Her decision resulted in her being called the Goddess of Fidelity. She remained married to Loki, though their union was tempestuous at best. Sigyn tried to make her union with the Trickster work, and some days it did. Most of the time, though, it did not. Loki was often away, and so Sigyn was left to her own devices for years at a time. She was also aware of the infidelities that plagued their marriage, which was further cause for friction between them. Eventually children resulted from their union, as unhappy as it was. This event changes Sigyn’s life for the better; she had become increasingly depressed with each passing decade, often pitied by the other Asgardians or shunned by them because of her connection to the Lord of Lies. Her ties to Loki had made it difficult for her to make friends, and her family was often pre-occupied with their own marriages and affairs. So, Sigyn began to rely on herself, especially since she had children to take care of. She often went to Frigga for advice or reading material, growing close to her mother-in-law during the times when Loki was away. Sigyn taught herself many things, intent on becoming a self-reliant character. She continued to practice her sorcery, attempting to improve on it. Sigyn had not paid all that much attention to Midgard or even the tenuous peace between the nine realms until frost giants got into Asgard and attempted to steal the casket of winters during Thor’s coronation ceremony. While aware of the fighting between her in-laws, Sigyn was unaware of what happened up until she visited Frigga again, discovering that Thor had disobeyed his father, and his attack on Joutunheim had resulted in the war resuming and his banishment to the human realm. When Odin was indisposed and Loki took the throne, Sigyn was a little surprised, and wondered what Loki was planning to do about his brother. She found herself being relocated, as she was the reagent King’s wife still, no matter how much she wished to deny it. Sigyn stayed with Frigga, providing support for her queen and teacher. Sigyn became more and more disturbed by Loki’s growing callousness toward his own family, especially after he sends the destroyer to Earth to kill his own brother. She had known of his jealousy, but hadn’t thought he’d wanted his own family dead. During Loki and Thor’s fight on the Bifrost and it’s ultimate destruction, she was shocked to learn that Loki would try to eradicate Jotunheim from existence and to learn of his apparent death. With Loki presumed dead, her marriage was over. Sigyn began to pick up the pieces of her life, trying to find out who she really was, now that she was free to pursue her own interests. Only a year later, though, does Midgard end up in trouble once again. Loki arrived on the mortal plane, back from the dead it seemed. She learned all about what has happened on Midgard and it’s city ‘New York’ through gossip and second-hand information. Determined to find out the truth, Sigyn went straight to the source. Finding out that Loki had launched a full-scale invasion of Midgard and didn’t even care about the destruction he’d caused to it’s people, Sigyn severed any ties to him completely, including having their sons take her name instead of his. Though she disagreed about him being imprisoned for life, due to his slippery nature, Sigyn held her tongue and did not speak of it to Frigga. Sigyn’s glimpses of Midgard and the rumors circulating from Thor’s story had intrigued her about the human world. Curious to go see it, Sigyn waited for the Bifrost to be repaired so that she could leave the godly realm. That was when the attacks started, including attacks on her home realm. Though both Thor and Loki were sent down to Midgard to deal with the problems he had caused, Sigyn still insisted on leaving as well, and if the All-father didn’t let her use the Bifrost, she would find another way to the human world. Since she wasn’t a warrior, she wasn’t prevented from leaving. It was now time for her to explore the world and discover herself. She has wanted to explore Midgard for a long time now. She intends to do what she wants and live her own life, starting with finding a place to stay on this world. While not a warrior or a fighter, Sigyn does what she can to help the heroes in their fight, even if it is very small. Nothing changes for Sigyn, except that in this time line she never met Mr. Stark and stayed with him, nor did any of the other meetings with Midgardians occur. Of course, she remembers both timelines at once so it’s always a bit tricky now. Also she does remember the reckoning of Ragnarok, but it’s different for both timelines.
She hates remembering almost two different sets of events. Sigyn is going to try and solve a bit of the problem here, considering that this shouldn’t even be possible.
