[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Namor / Namor McKenzie ALIAS: Namor the First, the "Avenging Son", Prince of Atlantis, Emperor of the Deep, Lord of the Seven Seas and Supreme Commander of the Undersea Legions. Imperius Rex. Prince Namor, King Namor, Emperor Namor. AGE: 100. OCCUPATION: King of Atlantis | CEO of Oracle, Inc | SHIELD Ally MEMBER GROUP: Superhuman, Mutant, Villain POWERS AND ABILITIES: Amphibious Physiology: Namor can breathe atmosphere and water both. He can also survive incredible pressures, even easily being able to traverse Mariana's Trench. Additionally, extreme cold is no issue for him. Heightened Senses: Namor can see in pitch black, murky water, and has telescopic vision. He also can feel sonic vibrations and can essentially echo-locate in water. Superhuman Strength: Namor is superhumanly strong, and has held his own against the Hulk for a brief period of time. In the water, he's virtually unconquerable. Outside of the water, he becomes weaker, and will continue to grow weaker until he once again has contact with water. Superhuman Speed: On land, Namor tops out at around 60 miles per hour during short bursts. In the water, he can swim close to three-hundred miles per hour. Superhuman Stamina: Namor can easily commit to over 24 hours of strenuous activity. This, though, like most of his powers, is conditional on how recently he's been in the water. If he's been on land for too long, he'll barely be more powerful than a human. Superhuman Durability: Namor can survive a lot, including high-caliber bullets, sub-orbital falls, and pressure and temperature extremes. Superhuman Reflexes: That permit him to catch slower moving projectiles, like arrows. Aquatic Healing: In the water, Namor can heal much more rapidly than his own people, and significantly more quickly than humans. Outside of the water, he still heals quickly, although not nearly as quickly, and again this can be slowed down depending on how long he's been outside of the water. Aquatic Telepathy: Namor can hold conversations with advanced marine lifeforms, or issue simply commands to lower-intelligence species. Flight: Namor can fly at the speeds of a military aircraft. Bioelectricity: Namor can generate a bioelectric field which can short-circuit those attempting to become intangible or those attempting to form force fields. The rough voltage is equivalent to an electric eel on direct contact and can cause paralysis, with a weaker ambient field around that. It also makes him more resistant (but not immune to) electricity. Powers from the Trident: Namor maintains a metaphysical connection with his trident, which allows him to do the following, even if he doesn't have it on him: 1) Create barriers and force-fields to withstand impressive blasts. 2) Fire energy blasts 3) Control massive volumes of water 4) Manipulate the weather to create storms 5) Create earthquakes by manipulating water pressure 6) Create water elementals 7) Heal others or himself It is also incredibly durable and can withstand ridiculous force because of it's partly-adamantium nature. PLAYBY: Pedro Soltz OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: El AGE: 24 GENDER: Lady with a large serving of dude. I suck at being the proper woman. XD TIMEZONE: EST OTHER CHARACTERS: Felicia Hardy , Steve Rogers , Z inactive alisonblaire . [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: 1) Skill: Above all else, Namor respects skill, intelligence and general competence. A way to win his favor is simply by being damn good at what you do. 2) Bravery: Even more admirable than skill is bravery. Upon a few occasions, Namor has ceased an assault on an individual or individuals because of dogged determination. If you are outclassed and outmatched, but keep fighting, that can win his genuine respect, which is hard to come by. 3) Strong Blonde Women: Physically, he's had a taste for blondes ever since his relationship with Betty Dean. Being a powerful woman, whether physically (good), mentally (better), or both (best), will likely win his attention. 4) Italian Food: It's delightful. 5) Big Band Jazz, Swing, Lounge Singers: It was Betty's favorite, and it rubbed off on him. DISLIKES: 1) Humanity: Though his wife was a human, and many of his closest friends number amongst the species, Namor is not overly fond of humanity as a whole. In commune with the ocean itself and coming from a species more easily affected by pollution, Namor has a great respect for the earth, one that he feels humans do not share. He is disgusted by their short-term and irresponsible thinking and their disregard for "lesser lifeforms". Cultural values, particularly amongst Americans are especially upsetting. As far as he can tell, many humans are liars and cowards, neither of which are characteristics he has much love of. 2) Liars: Though some believe that Namor is prone to switching sides, and many view him as somewhat manipulative, he rarely if ever lies. In fact, he is usually quite honest, and is regularly surrounded by his people whose veracity is on an even higher level. The human tendency to lie, especially over trivial matters, is baffling. 3) Cowards: Namor has no patience for cowards. Especially cowards that, rather than running and removing themselves from conflict, hide behind others. He expects leaders to be competent and rally their troops from the front lines. As such, most modern politicians don't particularly impress him. 4) Pollution: Namor is very big about green energy, and is one of the leading authorities on the subject. Presently he is pouring his own capital into financing green energy for poorer countries, and hopes that the improved energy model will shame first world countries into doing the same. 5) Bigotry: Despite being more than a bit of a bigot himself, Namor is not tolerant of the trait in other people--or specifically humans. Atlantean prejudice towards humans is perfectly acceptable, after all, given the destruction humanity has caused his species. But seeing humans treat mutants poorly, or behave with racism towards their own causes his blood to boil. Perhaps because of what he had to overcome in his childhood, or perhaps because of the ties to cowardice. Humans that are prejudiced towards mutants clearly fear the next step of evolution, and will cower before beings more mighty than they are. 6) Greed: Greed often begets cowardice, deceit and impacts the environment. Of course, it's easy to hate the greedy when you have everything you could ever hope for. STRENGTHS: 1) Confident: Namor is confident in his own ability, and is not one to doubt himself. Ever. Nonetheless, he is proud and not vainglorious, meaning that he recognizes his strength but is not prone to overinflating his ability. 2) Loyal: If you can get Namor to make a promise, or outright agree to something, he will follow it through and only break his oath if it conflicts with older, stronger oaths. His friends are subject to some of the fiercest loyalty imaginable, and his people even more so. Duty to family, friends and country is paramount. 3) Manipulative: Though Namor rarely lies, he can omit, insinuate, imply, and exaggerate. He can also bully and intimidate, which given his power socially, politically, economically and physically, is usually pretty effective. After one hundred years of life and seventy years of ruling, he knows people pretty well, and can play them to some extent. 4) Intelligent: Namor is quite bright, and thanks to his businesses and marriage to a surfacer, is no longer ignorant of surface customs. 5) Passionate: Namor cares very, very deeply about his people and would die for his fellow Atlanteans in a heartbeat. He also tends to be very forthright with what he is feeling, and generally what he is thinking. Moods seem to sway him more deeply than most and he makes little effort to blunt them. Instead, they run their course or reinforce themselves as his love for cause or person grows. Namor's committment to a task can be truly awe-inspiring. 6) Savvy: Because of his years as a ruler, Namor is not very easily manipulated and typically recognizes power plays for what they are. 7) Discerning: Namor recognizes talent and quality when he sees it, and will foster abilities in others and watch them flourish with pride. 8) Romantic: Though it is covered by his outward pragmatism and the callus way in which he generally conducts himself, Namor is a romantic. Those that know him in passing believe this only applies to relationships, but this is not true in the slightest. Through and through Namor is an idealist, and will strive for the best. More than anything he wants peace between humanity and the Atlanteans, and wants to see everyone well-provided for and comfortable. He views it as his duty as one of the strong and privileged to shield the weak. 9) Pragmatic: Namor was raised as a King since he was a child and was taught that he would have to make tough calls and could not be crippled by decisions that could cost thousands their lives. Even though Namor is an idealist at his heart, he will in the end do what is best for the world at large. And that means making tough calls. WEAKNESSES: 1) Ego: Just as Namor is confident, he might be too confident. Even when Namor makes a mistake, even a major one, he would rarely admit to such a thing and never apologize for it. 2) Temper: Though this has mellowed since his youth and through Betty's commitment to lessening it, he still has quite a temper. His rages, especially once he really gets going are world famous... and catastrophic. He's swallowed fleets and leveled ports in his fit. 3) No Filter: As a whole, Namor doesn't care enough about what other people think of him to inhibit his thoughts, unless he's playing an angle. He's incredibly honest, and regularly angers allies, friends and alliances by stating his exact opinion. 4) Bigoted: Namor doesn't much care for humans. Though he has human friends, he considers humans to be weak, cowardly and backstabbing as a whole. An individual can break the mold, but people? Not so much. This in addition to his pride and the hard decisions that he has to make as a ruler means that he is willing to kill human civilians. He won't do so happily and will even attempt to avoid it, but if it needs done he will, and he will not dwell on it. 5) Cynical: Namor doesn't believe in human ideals or morality. His hope for the human race is... complicated. So when humans talk about human nature and strength and togetherness he has a hard time not laughing. He truly feels that humanity would benefit under Atlantean rule, since it is clear they cannot guide themselves. 6) Women: Though a woman flirting isn't likely to make a fool of him, a woman he likes can easily make a fool of him. If he feels genuine attraction to a woman, even if it isn't that major, he will go out of his way to impress her. Likewise, the woman can manipulate him. He will generally do as she asks (within reason), even if it in no way benefits, or even hinders what he's trying to accomplish. 7) High Standards: Namor doesn't have patience for weakness or stupidity in any form. If you are not competent, you are not worth his time. Though it may be surprising to some, Namor holds himself to these same standards and has difficulty accepting failure in himself. 8) Ruthless: Namor's pragmatism can be alienating. Having ruled Atlantis for seventy years during a time of conflict with the surface at large, Namor can choose to condemn thousands to death or even give the order, and he can do it without hesitation. Many find it monstrous. GOALS: 1) Ensure his people's future wellbeing by all but ending pollution in the oceans. 2) (this is a sometimes/long term goal) See the surface under his rule. 3) Find a woman worthy of him, and make her his Queen. FEARS: Namor fears being unable to protect his people. Failing them would be the greatest sin of his life, bar none. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Namor is nothing if not a tangled ball of yarn. He has a web of seemingly contradictory traits, all of which form to a personality that rarely (if ever) questions or doubts itself. To the man himself, he is the simplest person that anyone will ever meet. His traits seem fluid and consistent. But to the outward viewer that comes to know more of him, he can seem utterly at odds with himself. The pomposity, pragmatism and confidence he exudes means that people rarely get to know his inner workings to confused in the first place, however. First and foremost, the Atlantean is assured. His upbringing as the crown prince of Atlantis directly influenced this; first from the adversity he had to overcome, and second from simply being royalty. Being royal meant that he would one day undoubtedly inherit the throne, and difficult decisions come with ruling, especially when your Kingdom is threatened by the very existence of humans. He was raised knowing that there would be times when he'd have to sacrifice, bully and kill, and that meant that he wouldn't be able to doubt. For his own wellbeing, and the wellbeing of his people. As such, there is no moral dilemma for Namor. He is always on the right path. He never regrets, never doubts. Even if it means slaughtering millions. And on the off chance that he does feel guilty or responsible, he will never apologize. What he did was intended at the time, and apologies are always for the benefit of the apologists and not the wronged party. His ego and confidence are equal parts justified (he is superior to humans, after all), and equal parts a product of his upbringing. Secondly, the monarch is a romantic, and a patriot. He would die for his people a thousand times over. He would send himself to death if it assured a future for his people, and he'd do it without a second thought. Atlantis is his one true love, and he is kinder and far more attentive to his subjects than he is surfacers. In truth, Namor yearns to live harmoniously with humans, but feels that his trust has been burned time and again. This and his upbringing has left him not only prejudiced toward them, but reluctant to believe in them, even while simultaneously wanting to. In matters of trust, Namor is quite honorable, and will follow his word to the end, unless it would endanger his people. He rarely lies, and isn't one to mince words, unless he's playing an angle, and even then he's more likely to intimidate to get what he wants. But perhaps the most expressive aspect of his idealism is his love of love. Namor is a firm believer in both platonic and romantic relationships, and feels that everyone should experience true love, come whatever form it may. As such, he is tremendously devoted to what few friends he makes, who can look forward to trust, affirmation and kindness. His lovers enjoy grand, romantic gestures and tender attentiveness. When he is not in a relationship, he is prone to genuine flattery and loves to see women smile, even if he has no intention of sleeping with them. HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: Atlantis. RESIDENCE: Atlantis, the capitol of the Kingdom of Atlantis. When he is not presiding in the Palace, he may be found at various locations on earth, including his embassies, the micronations that he owns, or among his penthouse suites over his corporate buildings. PARENTS: Princess Fen (deceased c. 1942). Captain Leonard McKenzie (deceased c. 1916) SIBLINGS: Nope. IMPORTANT RELATIVES: Aquaria Neptunia or "Namora" - Second Cousin, and first to inherit should Namor pass. Lady Dorma - Fourth cousin, and second to inherit should he pass. IMPORTANT PERSON: Betty Dean, who is, unfortunately, deceased. She was the great love of his life, and though Namor has since moved on, he still remembers her fondly. OVERALL HISTORY: Namor's story began when Captain Leonard McKenzie was dispatched to recover the Endurance, a ship that had been mining vibranium from the Antarctic. In order to dislodge the Endurance from the ice, the crew had to use demolition charges, which disturbed an Atlantean outpost beneath the waves. Princess Fen was dispatched to investigate the explosions and put an end to them. When she appeared, she was immediately taken captive. Princess Fen permitted this, as she could have easily subdued the entire crew. Instead, she was intrigued by the humans, and McKenzie was likewise intrigued by the strange, blue-skinned woman before him. Princess Fen also saw in this an opportunity. Her people's lungs had gradually devolved due to millennia of disuse, and she saw an opportunity to produce a child that could serve as the catalyst for Atlantean vengeance upon the humans that polluted the oceans. Staying together for several weeks, Princess Fen taught herself a little English and stayed with McKenzie to learn what she could before he was set to return to the United States. To Fen's surprise she came to care for the human that she intended to simply use and their whirlwind romance saw the pair married. Fen found out she was pregnant shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, her father had long since grown concerned over his daughter's disappearance and dispatched his troops to locate her. The troops arrived and killed the majority of the crew, including McKenzie. Namor was born seven months later, on February 22nd, 1916 and met with no small degree of scandal. He was the very first human-Atlantean hybrid in history. Nonetheless, being the only immediate successor to the throne, Namor's place in Atlantean society was sealed, even if it was met with reluctance on the public's part. His mother, Princess Fen told him of his father and taught him what English she remembered and armed him for war with the surface when he grew strong enough. Though Namor had a passing curiosity toward the surface world, he namely absorbed his mother's thoughts of crusading against humanity, and inherited his own people's contempt for them. Chiefly, though, he was concerned with proving himself to his people. Being both half human as well as a mutant amongst his species, he had to work twice as hard to overcome prejudice that people dare wouldn't voice. Behind his back, he was frequently referred to as a "pale crab"--a reference to his flesh-toned skin rather than the deep blues of his people. As a result of wanting to prove himself, he excelled in academia, and was more than happy to show off his strength, which was impressive even by Atlantean standards. His ego blossomed over the years, overcoming those that would belittle him by simply outperforming them in every manner imaginable. His skill and intellect was respected, but unfortunately this plus the natural respect that his position demanded went to his head. Contact with the surface world was inevitable. As World War II rocked humanity, it also touched the lives of those in the ocean, and impacted Atlantis. An early submarine battle warred in the depths, unaware of their proximity to Atlantis. A submarine blasted apart a battleship, which sank fast enough to crush part of Atlantis proper. Then the charges in the hull ignited, blowing apart a large portion of the city, including the royal palace. Both Namor's mother, Princess Fen, and Emperor Thakorr. Namor flew into a psychotic rage at the death of his loved ones and so many of his people. Torpedoing towards the surface, Namor broke the hull of the submarine and tore apart the remains of the battleship, even drowning the survivors. But his work was not done, as more ships loomed nearby, each attacked, torn asunder or capsized by monstrous waves which appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The casualty rate in the battle was nearly one-hundred percent on both sides. One of the few survivors managed to report back about how they'd seen a man leap onto the side of one of the ships, alerting Allied Forces to a man of extreme capabilities. Namor took only a brief period of time to grieve for the loss of so many. The first thing he ordered as the King of Atlantis was to mourn the dead and begin reparations. Unfortunately, ships kept impeding overtop of Atlantean settlements, prompting the period to be short. Once again coming to the surface, Namor pulled himself ashore near Hampton Roads/Tidewater, Virginia. There was a large naval base there that Namor had every intention of wiping off the map, but before he could he was intercepted by a beautiful blonde woman named Betty Dean. Betty had gone to the base to visit her on-off flame, and spotted Namor emerging from the water. Seeing his curved ears, arched brows, trident and total and complete nudity made her realize that he was the man responsible for destroying so many naval vessels. Pulling her gun on him, Betty Dean ordered him to stop. Though Namor only had a passing familiarity with humans, he did recognize the gun for what it was and laughed. Surprisingly, his laughter did not phase Betty, who shot him. To her surprise, the bullet did absolutely nothing except serve to make him irritated. Nonetheless, Betty stood her ground, despite the fact that her gun had no effect and he was a vastly superior lifeform. This earned the respect of Namor--the first human to do so. He halted his attack on the naval base and was ready to return to the sea when Betty called out to him. He turned around for reasons he still doesn't understand, and Betty told him that he had been indiscriminate in his attacks. She told him that the Axis Powers were the true enemies--that Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor before the US was even involved, that the Nazis were involved in Genocidal Warfare and ethnic cleansing. Though ordinarily Namor would have left humans to their own devices and remained adamant in attacking those that threatened his people, she managed to persuade him. She also persuaded him to wear something to cover his extreme nudity. The Allied Forces gained a significant power from Namor and his Atlanteans, who downed major battleships, aircraft carriers, and attacked bases along bodies of water. The island of Japan and much of Italy proved especially susceptible. Though the Atlanteans never ventured far from the ocean or rivers that connected to such, Namor was amphibious and came and went as he pleased. He was a major asset for the Allies, even with his extreme pride, hair trigger temper and mediocre grasp of the English language. He fought alongside Bucky Barnes, Steve Rogers and even the Howling Commandoes at a few points. While the war was raging, Namor took plenty of time to visit Betty, even when he really shouldn't have and was requested elsewhere. Being a monarch that supplied a huge number of troops to the Allies, he figured he was above most of the meetings between the human leaders, and took what downtime he could with her. He found her to be intriguing and appealing--her bravery in the face of almost certain defeat was admirable. She had a moxy, wit, and intelligence that was even somewhat difficult to come by in Atlanteans--it was virtually unheard of in human women. Betty was not at all unaware of Namor's interest in her. He was far from subtle in his approaches, and he knew virtually nothing of earth courting. Instead, he was eager to impress and please her, and did most anything she asked. Even without her fully realizing that she asked something some of the time. When she wished for her former flame to stop calling her, Namor paid him a visit and threatened to rip out his vocal chords. When she complained that her boss wasn't giving her good patrols because she was a woman, Namor made it clear that she was going to get the patrols she wanted. When she commented in passing about how she wanted a dress, Namor threw a handful of dubloons at the shopkeep and bought it for her, to give it to her at a later date. Despite the numerous defects of his personality, and his general insufferable nature, Betty grew to like, and even love Namor. Namor felt much the same about Betty, only he came to feel it much faster--though managed to remain in denial about it. A year and a half into their peculiar relationship, Namor asked Betty to marry him. Despite how she was beginning to feel for him, Betty refused. Namor kept composed when he walked off... and then proceeded to destroy Axis Forces that much harder for the next several days. Any Atlantean woman would've jumped at the chance! Surprisingly, Namor continued to see Betty in spite of the severe blow to his pride. He never again asked her to marry him as he was still sore about the previous time. At the end of their second year together, Betty asked him to marry her, and he agreed without even a second thought on the matter. The two stayed together through all of the events of the war. Namor wanted to whisk her away to somewhere safe, but Betty refused and remained in New York with her family and friends. When the war finally came to an end, Betty went to Atlantis with Namor and the two had a formal ceremony in the capitol. Betty Dean kept her maiden name (Namor didn't have a true surname, and both agreed that Betty McKenzie sounded awful). Betty became the first human to reside in Atlantis, and certainly the first human to partly rule over it. Many of the Atlanteans were shocked, especially given Namor's ongoing prejudice towards humans, but in time they came to accept Betty. Those that didn't would frequently meet strange injuries if Namor ever caught wind of it. The two regularly made their way topside to see her family. With Betty's insistence, Namor used the vast wealth from sunken ships to finance the purchasing of real estate properties, found charitable organizations, and create corporations dedicated to creating clean energy. Namor even created a movie studio--the first two films being documentaries about Atlantis and its many cities and towns in the hopes to improve relations between humans and Atlanteans, and prompt less dumping, oil spills and the like. Namor grew to be a billionaire through the hiring of smart business executives and his own shrewd leadership. He had access to even more wealth on the ocean floor, but used such sparingly after getting his kick start. Betty's family lived more than comfortably at Namor's generosity. Betty and her family helped cool Namor's temper in return, and kneaded out some of his general animosity towards humans. Over the years, after trying and using every solution that they could think of, it became apparent that Betty Dean was infertile. Out of respect for her, Namor kept this hush-hush. If anyone on either side of the fence insisted that she was infertile, Namor simply replied that he and Betty had decided that they didn't want children, as was her prerogative. Betty was with Namor until 1979. Having met her when she was 23, Betty was on her sixtieth birthday. Her health began to decline, and Namor quickly went to the surface world, knowing that human doctors would be able to treat her condition better. After various scans, the doctors identified her condition as Pancreatic Cancer. There was no hope of recovery--news that Namor refused to believe. For the next several months, he invested all of his time and resources to find doctors and experimental procedures that could save her. Time that he later regretted not spending with Betty. When Betty's condition worsened, Namor reluctantly withdrew and spent the last three days of her life with her. When she passed, Namor and the whole of Atlantis fell into grieving. Namor's rage towards the failure of the doctors was tempered by deep-running despair. Three months later, and still deep in mourning, the Ixtoc Oil Well burst, spilling one-hundred and forty million gallons of oil into the water. Once more, Atlanteans were affected, as were the animals that were also under Namor's protection. Between his grief and rage, this was the last straw, and Namor ordered a full blown invasion of the surface world. Namor used his knowledge to first strike air and naval bases, compromising many with titanic waves. With many bases all over the world destroyed, and mutants relatively few in number, Namor and the Atlanteans, who were much stronger than humans, had little trouble in taking large swaths of land. Namor laid claim to several islands, including those part of Indonesia and Papau/New Guinea. The battle lasted nearly a year, with many Atlantean victories before Namor was contacted by Betty's sister. Betty had left Namor a letter, knowing that there was a chance he would be prompted to stupid or violent action upon her death. Reading the letter, Namor halted the war on the surface world, and retracted his troops. Needless to say, the destruction of so many bases and the conquering of so much territory (some of which he refused to give back), led to cool relations between Atlantis and most of the rest of the world. It even added more contempt towards mutants, as Namor himself was a mutant. Over the next several decades, Namor's activities were less involved. At one point he was contacted by Magneto, whom he joined forces with for a period of time. He served as an effective member of the Brotherhood, retaliating against human oppressors that he so despised. Unfortunately, Magneto expected full control of Namor, and Namor left the ranks of the Brotherhood thereafter. In more recent times, Namor has once again become a force to be reckoned with. The Chitauri invasion prompted Namor to once more think of most humans as incompetent children to some extent. In a move that's made most of the world uncomfortable, he's begun to have more of a presence on earth through his corporations. Though he claims that he will be an ally to humanity in the event that a large enough threat comes, many are skeptical, and wonder what his long term ploy may be.
