[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION]CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Phillip Coulson ALIAS: Cheese AGE: 48 OCCUPATION: SHIELD Agent MEMBER GROUP: SHIELD Agents POWERS AND ABILITIES: Not all heroes are super. OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Agent AGE: 26 GENDER: Male TIMEZONE: EST OTHER CHARACTERS: None LIKES: Lola- Phil’s red 1962 Corvette C1. No one touches Lola, not even the deckhands from S.H.E.I.L.D. She’s been with him a long time and is overly protective of her. Captain Steve Rogers – Phil has a fanboy crush on the First Avenger and followed his career closely. He even has the full set of mint Captain America trading cares. They are somewhat bloodied now, but some are pristine enough that he might be able to get Cap to sign. Annoying Tony Stark – Of all the Avengers (excluding Natasha and Clint), Phil has probably known Tony Stark the longest. Director Fury put the Invincible Iron Man under house arrest after Colonel Rhodes made off with one of the Iron Man suits. Phil was assigned to supervise Stark and threatened to tase him if the tycoon refused to cooperate…and watch Supernanny in the process. He does this because he knows Stark is jealous he isn’t Phil Coulson. Mind games – Similar to the above, Phil enjoys toying with his opponent’s minds. It catches them off guard so he can incapacitate them easier. Plus they’re good keeping the wits sharp. Classical music – How else would he have wound up dating a cellist? DISLIKES: Getting stabbed through the chest. There are better ways to spread a Friday night, or any other night for that matter. It’s not nearly as fun as it sounds. Bad guys. Why else would he have sought a career in the military and S.H.I.E.L.D.? While not a cop, he will go out of his way to incapacitate criminals wherever they appear. Undisciplined agents. Phil runs a tight ship and is highly efficient. Those who aren’t ready for his type of work should not given that type of assignment, as they pose a danger to the Team. Some modern music. It’s just not written like it used to. Phil has had a full life and a finer palette when it comes to certain things. Monologues. If you’re going to take over the world, Phil doesn’t want to have listen for an hour on how inferior everyone else is. Put your money where your mouth is and push the red button already. Of course if they did, then he wouldn’t have a job. STRENGTHS: Cool cucumber – Phil never seems to be stressed out in any situation. His quiet mind is always analyzing the surrounding environment for anything he could use to his advantage. If is because of this that he has become Director Fury’s right hand man. Military training – Phil did several tours of duty alongside Nick Fury. He has advanced training in firearms and martial arts. He can even improvise a weapon if the situation calls for it. Team building – He is a good judge of character and is often sent out to recruit new members to S.H.I.E.L.D. Many have called him the “glue that binds” in whatever team he finds himself in. He knows how to motivate his comrades to work together and move beyond their differences. WEAKNESSES: Underestimated – Phil’s quiet demeanor often makes him seem less important than he really is. For example, Tony Stark often saw him as a stereotypical G-man who couldn’t do what Stark did. On the other hand, Phil utilizes this to become a ‘fly on the wall.’ Physical trauma - He is still recovering from the chest wound delivered by Loki’s bladed staff. The underlying ribs will sometimes ache just before a rainstorm. The memory also pains him at times, but Phil does not talk about it. No super powers – Phil is a trained, but still extremely squishy, human. He does not benefit from Super Soldier serums, advanced combat armors, or extra-terrestrial physiologies. He is a formidable opponent in unarmed combat, but he has no protection from Mutant powers. GOALS: A safer Earth – Strife is inevitable, but Phil can at least use his skills to make the planet a better place. To become a husband – S.H.I.E.L.D. work takes up a majority of his time, but Phil has made time for dating. He is currently seeing a cellist. Maybe the relationship will go somewhere. Maybe it won’t. Either way, Phil isn’t going down without trying. FEARS: Getting stabbed in the chest again – This has already happened, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Phil has gone through the mandatory psychological therapy and has been cleared for duty. Still, he finds himself standing a little farther back from any pointed objects capable of piercing flesh. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Phillip Coulson is the everyman type of person. He is the man you want handling a crisis and would have no fear of sending him out alone. He is reliable and charismatic, even if he does seem a little shy or introverted. He operates in the background but yet still earns the respect of those he works with. He also enjoys the finer things in life like the Arts and restoring classic cars. Just don’t touch Lola.HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: Boston, Massachusetts RESIDENCE: S.H.I.E.L.D. moves him around a lot, but his permanent residence would probably be the Helicarrier. PARENTS: Robert and Julie Coulson. SIBLINGS: None. IMPORTANT RELATIVES: None aside from S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers Initiative (professional relations). IMPORTANT PERSON: Courting anyone? Married, perhaps? Who's your special someone? OVERALL HISTORY:Phillip J. Coulson was born to Robert and Julie Coulson on April 2, 1962. He grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. While the neighborhood boys collected baseball cards, young Phil was mesmerized by the adventures of World War II hero Captain Steve Rogers (more famously known as Captain America). He spent the next several years trying to get his hands on mint condition Captain America trading cards from the war era. The First Avenger was his inspiration for enlisting in the United States Army, where he ultimately met Nick Fury. Phil was honorably discharged from the Army and followed Fury into the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and LogisticsDivision (aka S.H.I.E.L.D). He worked his way up the ladder and became one of the organizations most senior agents getting to Level 8. After business tycoon Tony Stark was rescued from the clutches of the Ten Rings terrorist organization, Special Agent Coulson was dispatched to debrief the man on his experiences in the Middle East. Mr. Stark of course completely wrote him off even though he offered to help cover up the destruction of the Arc Reactor and death of Obadiah Stane. He was then sent to New Mexico after the locals reported a Norse war hammer in the center of an impact crater. Phil oversaw the scientific investigation of the weapon and helped the owner (the ancient god known as Thor) stop his brother from destroying the town of Puente Antiguo. He then recruited Dr. Selvig to research Asgardian technology for S.H.I.E.L.D. before meeting with Agent Sitwell to figure out who would represent the Avengers Initiative. And then his childhood hero was found frozen in the ice. Phil did not a chance to be there when Captain America was revived, but he did get to work with him while bringing in the rest of the Avengers. He faced being rejected and asked the Cap to sign the vintage mint condition set of trading cards that were kept in his Helicarrier locker. Unfortunately, Loki stabbed him through the chest before he was able to show the cards to Rogers. Phil thought his death would unify the squabbling heroes and was glad that his death would have meaning. However, he didn’t die. He had been in surgery during most of the Chitauri attack on New York City…four days in fact. Fury had lied to whip them all into shape. After the battle, Phil spent the next several months recovering from his wounds and getting back into shape. He is now cleared for duty and is back on the front lines once again as the leader of a specialized team investigating the cases S.H.I.E.L.D. has yet to classify. More Agents of Shield spoilers: As a sort of worker’s compensation, Coulson was given the command of a modified Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft he affectionately calls “the Bus.” The craft takes his team all over the world to make sure technology like Asgardian, Chitauri and Extremis do not fall into the wrong hands for very long. Agents Melinda Mae and Grant Ward handle the strategic portions of the cases while S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists Leopold Fitz and Gemma Simmons figure out what the Oh-Eight-Fours are capable of. He even recruited a former Rising Tide hacktivist by the name of Skye Masterson for that outside-the-box thinking his team lacked. While pursuing a mad scientist who calls himself The Clairvoyant, Agent Cheese discovered the truth about his recovery. He wasn’t dead for eight seconds or eight minutes, but for four days. Director Fury ordered a battery of unorthodox surgeries code named T.A.H.I.T.I. which included an infusion of extraterrestrial bodily fluid GH-325. Other compounds were used as well, but the Guest House that had the project no longer exists. Coulson has no idea what GH-325 does aside from regenerate dead tissue. And this scares the beejeezus out of him.[/PTab][PTab=IMAGE][/PTab][/PTabbedContent={width:485px;border:0px;margin-left:-2px;}] |
