Name: Anna Marie Rogue 27 Female Rock Band Roadie Sexuality: Heterosexual Mutant Absorption of memories, skills, and powers through skin-to-skin contact (the longer the contact occurs, the longer Rogue will retain the abilities or memories. If she maintains contact long enough, the absorption becomes permanent). Anna Paquin |
PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT LIKES: |
Motorcycles - Wolverine was an integral part of Rogue's truly formative years. She spent more than a few hours with him over the years, learning the inner-workings of cars and motorcycles, the latter of which really earned her affection. Put two handlebars in front of her, and two wheels beneath her, and she is happy as a clam.
Sweet Tea - Rogue is from the south. "Ain't nobody in the south don' like sweet tea!"
Hitchhiking - For some strange reason, Rogue enjoys meandering across the country on foot, or in the passenger seat of a stranger's car. She's had bad experiences, sure, but she's proven each time that she's quite capable of holding her own when in a not-so-awesome situation. Besides, hitchhiking is how she met Logan, and he turned out to be not only a great mentor, but a good friend.
Gloves - Some women collect shoes - Rogue collects gloves. Over the years, Rogue has lost track of how many pairs of gloves she owns. It is rare to see her in the same pair of gloves twice in one week. Thankfully, she's gotten past that awkward stage of wearing elbow-length gloves with short-sleeved shirts.[/ul]
DISLIKES:
Infidelity - Rogue will openly admit that she is easily ensnared by jealousy where her partners are involved. She does not deal with infidelity. Granted, she doesn't really deal with relationships anymore either, since the return of her powers, but that's beside the point.
Hippies - Having spent her first few years in a hippie commune with her parents, Rogue knows all about peace, love, and all that BS. Needless to say, she's not a fan. Her mother's disappearance due to some hippie ritual only adds to that disdain.
People - Rogue is a lone wolf by nature, which seems to fit the nickname she was given as a child. She is fine with people as individuals, but large groups of people put her on edge like nobody's business. Needless to say, she tries her best to stay backstage at all times when on tour.
Physical Mutations - While she doesn't dislike those who are born with physical mutations, she does have a slight aversion to coming in contact with them. She is uncertain how she would absorb their mutation and would honestly prefer to live out her days ignorant of the answer.[/ul]
STRENGTHS:
What's Yours is Mine - Rogue's power allows her to absorb other mutants' abilities, thus giving her the ability to use their own strength against them. While she doesn't master their ability instantly, she is generally pretty good about figuring out how things work on the fly.
Well-Traveled - Rogue has spent more than her fair share of time on the road. She knows all kinds of awesome, hole-in-the-wall restaurants to eat at, and the quickest route to get from one state to another. Her southern accent tends to stand out everywhere she goes (except in the south), but it adds to her natural charm. She is very good at easing her way into conversations with strangers.[/ul]
WEAKNESSES:
Smart Mouth - Rogue's quick wit and smart mouth have a tendency to get her into trouble. Usually, it's nothing big, but she's been in more than her fair share of bar brawls simply because she snarked off to the wrong biker.
Absorption - Rogue's greatest strength (her power), is also her greatest weakness. Not only does she absorb the abilities of mutants she touches, she also gains their memories and personality traits. This is especially awful when she deals with mutants who aren't exactly friendly by nature.[/ul]
GOALS:
Peace - She has no plans of running for Miss America anytime soon, but peace between humans and mutants is very high on her wish list. Granted, she's not really doing anything about it in her personal life (something about the fact that her gift is harmful to others makes her not the best spokesperson for the cause), but perhaps with the boys not on tour, she'll take the off-season to focus on ways she can help spread the word without the use of her
FEARS:
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Despite her tendency towards a solitary life, Rogue is a fairly cheerful and sociable girl. It takes awhile for her to warm up to people, but once she does, it's easy to see that she's a happy, albeit troubled, girl. She is loyal to those she considers good friends, and to Xavier's cause, despite not living at the Institute anymore. Her sense of humor is dry and sarcastic and has a tendency to get her into more trouble than its really worth, but it doesn't seem like she'll ever learn (or perhaps she just doesn't care).

BIRTHPLACE: Caldecott County, Mississippi
RESIDENCE: Genosha

IMPORTANT RELATIVES: Carrie (Aunt)
IMPORTANT PERSON:
Raven Darkholme - Mentor
Remy LeBeau - Pain in the Ass
(Note: I’m leaving where she met Remy open, but I would like them to have at least met on one side of the Brotherhood/X-Men divide or the other.)
HISTORY:
Anna Marie was born and raised in Meridian, MI, deep in Caldecott County. Her parents, Owen and Priscilla, were both members of a hippie commune and were very interested in Shamanism. Unfortunately, it was this interest in the mystical arts that eventually ended their relationship - something about Owen wanting to use Priscilla as a ritual sacrifice didn't sit well with Rogue's mother. She escaped without a trace, and without telling anyone her husband's plot.
Desperate, Anna’s father turned to Priscilla's sister, Carrie, in search of someone to help raise his little girl. Suffering from grief at the loss of her sister, Carrie was not quite so free-spirited where the discipline of little Anna was concerned. Within a few weeks, Anna's life was turned upside down. While once she'd been allowed to frolic freely, she now was forced to keep to a strict schedule. School and shoes were both mandatory.
Unable to cope with the new way of life and the wave of hormones racing through her, Anna joined the ranks of teenage runaways.
Somewhere along the line, she met and eventually fell for a boy named Cody Robbins. Her powers manifested during their first kiss and put him into a permanent coma. Thinking herself cursed, she began to dress solely in clothes that covered her entire body and went on the run again. A woman who called herself Mystique found the young mutant and took her under wing. The pair traveled to Genosha, where Mystique introduced Anna - now going by the name Rogue - to Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants.
Rogue wasn’t terribly fond of the homo-superior rhetoric, but flashbacks of Cody’s seemingly lifeless form and the hate-filled faces of the doctors and family members at his bedside quickly squashed any dreams she’d ever had of being a normal girl. The next few years passed fairly uneventfully. Every time she was called out to the frontlines to use her powers, however, she seemed to retain bits of her victims’ psyches.
Eventually, the disheveled mess that constituted as her brain became too much for the young mutant. Fleeing once again, Rogue made her way to the neighboring province of Arcadia. Tales of Professor Xavier - a powerful telepath and kind-hearted man - had circulated the world enough for her to know he was a man who might finally offer her some peace of mind -- literally.
Charles did the best he could, but despite his power, was unable to completely wipe Rogue’s mind clean of all the psyches. He managed to tuck most of them away for the time being, and asked Rogue to stay in Arcadia. She accepted the offer and spent the next few years of her life studying at his Academy for Gifted Youngsters while training alongside the X-Men to use her powers for good.
When the Professor finally approached Rogue and explained that he was unsure he’d ever be able to find a permanent fix for the damage she’d inflicted on herself over the years, something inside of her snapped. She left the Academy later that night without bothering to so much as leave a note. He was a psychic - surely he’d be able to figure it out on his own.
It’s been two weeks since she left Xavier’s and headed back to Genosha. She hasn’t returned to her home there, or her place on Mystique’s team. Instead, she got a gig as a waitress at a shitty dive bar near the border of the two territories in order to pay rent on a shitty studio while she makes up her mind as to what she wants.
