[PTabbedContent][PTab=GENERAL INFORMATION] CHARACTER INFO: NAME: Jessica Jones ALIAS: 'Jewel', Jess, That Bitch AGE: 31 OCCUPATION: Private Detective / Investigator MEMBER GROUP: Superhuman AFFILIATIONS: N / A POWERS AND ABILITIES: Superhuman Strength – Jessica has strength beyond that of normal humans. It's especially more notable when one considers her size. She has shown the ability to lift a car with some strain, and can strike a person with enough force to send them flying fifteen feet at least. Enhanced Speed – Thanks to her strength, Jessica is able to run at speeds much faster than the average person. She can catch up to a moving vehicle, and has clocked her actual timed mile, just shy of four minutes, at full speed. She can maintain that speed for short bursts, five to seven minutes at best. Enhanced Durability – Jess has a durability that puts her at being able to resist beatings with little to no visible sign of injury. However, penetrating wounds, such as gunshots, direct stabbings, and explosions will hurt her. Regenerative Healing FactorDue to her augmented metabolism, Jessica heals faster than any normal human being. Minor cuts and injuries heal with no sign in mere hours, broken bones take a bit longer, a day or two, depending on the severity of the injury. This also allows her to avoid the possibility of alcohol poisoning. However she still feels the results of a hangover and intoxication. ”Flight” - It's not exactly flight. It's more... guided falling. Not even graceful at that. Jessica uses her strength to leap, and can for the most part, guide her fall, though more often than not, she hurts herself. She uses this normally for investigative purposes. It's easier to jump to a rooftop, than to climb a fire escape. PLAYBY: Krysten Ritter OOC INFO: PLAYER NAME: Dizz AGE: 30 GENDER: Lady TIMEZONE: CST OTHER CHARACTERS: Not yet... [/PTab][PTab=PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT] PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: LIKES: Cheap Whiskey – Jess is, and likely will be, a functioning alcoholic for the rest of her life. Despite having removed the biggest source of her anxiety and PTSD, it's what helps her sleep at night. Getting Paid – She works for a living, and often folks don't have enough money to pay her, but when they do, it's nice. She's not big on charity, but she has a hell of a time turning people away. Intelligent Human Beings – Jess is often surrounded by idiocy and the utterly stupid, so when someone shows some common sense, they end up on her good side, and her snark and dry humor is a little less. It's there, just not as targeted. Greasy Food – Her metabolism keeps the pounds off, so Jess finds that when she can indulge in the most unhealthy of foods, she does. Cheese sticks, onion rings, that tower burger at that place on Ash. The worse for you, the better. Classic Rock – An oldie but a goodie. Punk – Who doesn't have a guilty pleasure? Seriously, go through her iPod. Trish – BFFFL DISLIKES: Salad – "What do I look like, a f**king rabbit?" Wine – She might be an alcoholic, but she has preferences. Wine is not among them. At all. Bullies – In any shape or form. Jess does not abide by bullies. From Trish's mom, to that Killgrave s.o.b. She doesn't like it, and will butt herself into situations to make it stop. Classical Music – Some might find it soothing, she finds it grating. Inconsiderate Neighbors – Jess might not be a shining star of a human being, but for the love of god, don't scream at 3 am about burnt toast. She will kick in your door, and she will scream about the toast too. Nosy People – Her business isn't any of yours. Yours however, might be hers if she's investigating. Deal with it. STRENGTHS: Driven – When Jess actually gets started on something, she doesn't stop until it's done. It frustrates her more than anything, but once her mind is made up, she comes through. Resourceful – Literally having not a whole lot has made Jess learn how to use what she's got available. Improvised weapons, the worst tactics ever, or just Macguyver-ing solutions, Jess is surprisingly brilliant when she needs to be. Sometimes it takes a bit of pressure though. Intuitive – She doesn't always have a good reason for what she does, other than gut instinct, but it hasn't really steered her wrong yet. Sure, it's gotten her in trouble, but at the end of the day, it's also saved her life, and others. WEAKNESSES: Alcoholic – Jess has problems, and the best way she solves them is with half a bottle of whiskey. Sure, her problems are dead, but it turns out, killing a man doesn't really help you sleep at night. Flighty – Jess might be loyal, but that only sticks as long as she personally sticks around. The only person she's made extra effort for was Trish. She tried with Luke, but it turns out, guys don't really like sleeping with the woman who killed their wife, influenced or otherwise. Bullheaded – Jess is used to doing things her way, on her own time. That often means diving in head first, walking in blind, and getting herself into a situation she's not prepared to handle. She has a hard time asking for help, and when she does, it's usually too late. GOALS: #1 – Make sure that no one like Killgrave can ever harm another person like he harmed so many. No person should ever have that kind of power over another, let alone run rampant with it while people in positions of authority turn a blind eye. #2 – Generally be a better person. Jess knows she's a piece of crap version of a human being. She knows what she should do to fix it, but it's not all that easy. FEARS: Losing Trish. It's the only thing that really scares her these days. She's not even afraid of getting herself Killed. It's Trish. The one person who stuck by her even when she was pushing her away as hard as she could. Trish saved her in more ways than she will openly admit, and she'd gladly put her life on the line if it meant saving Trish. Then there's Luke, but that's a can of worms she's afraid to kick over again. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Jessica Jones is what most people would call a bitch. She has a prickly outside shell that she lets very few people get past. Luke,Trish and Malcolm are the only ones who have weaseled their way into her good graces. Her bitterness rubs off on those around her, and make her hard to deal with in a public setting, though with enough pushing, she can be coerced into behaving more like a normal human being. Sometimes even with emotions. Part of her attitude comes from the things she'd been forced to do in the past, and the people she's hurt. She's convinced that she can't really maintain any kind of (healthy) relationship. Friendship or otherwise, so she lives with it. Maybe she's bitter, but mostly, she doesn't try anymore. Sometimes when you fail over and over, it's only stupid to keep trying, right? That's just the definition of insanity, and Jess, of all things, is not crazy. Despite all this, Jessica does try to do the right thing as often as possible. She has a good sense of morals and follows through when she has a chance. She's also very loyal to those who earn it. Her friendship is valuable when it's earned, and not exactly easy to lose either. HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: BIRTHPLACE: Caldwell, New Jersey RESIDENCE: Apartment / Office, Hell's Kitchen PARENTS: Brian Jones † (Father), Alisa Jones † (Mother), Dorothy Walker (Adoptive Mother) SIBLINGS: Phillip Jones † (Brother), Trish Walker (Adopted Sister) IMPORTANT RELATIVES: Trish Walker (Bestie/Sister) IMPORTANT PERSON: Luke Cage (If only...) OVERALL HISTORY: Jessica Jones woke up in the hospital, at the age of thirteen, an orphan. Her parents and younger brother died tragically in a car accident that Jessica managed to survive against all odds. As a publicity stunt, the orphaned Jones' was adopted by Dorothy Walker, the famous mother of Trish 'Patsy' Walker. Life with the Walker's was filled with it's own trials. While coping with the loss of her entire family, she had to learn to cope with a woman who could likely be considered psychotic, at least, in Jess's words. Dorothy was emotionally abusive to both Trish and Jess, forcing unrealistic expectations on both girls, to different degrees. Trish of course got the brunt of it, being the star child, while Jess was able to hide from the lime light. Thought while she hid, she saw everything. During an argument with Trish about her standing up to her mother, and calling Trish out for not talking to anyone about what was going on, Jessica accidentally broke the sink. Her strength and other enhancements manifested that afternoon, and reluctantly, Jessica agreed not to out Trish's mom, if Trish wouldn't tell anyone about the sink. With that deal struck, the girls progressed through their teenage years without further incident. Until Jessica came home one night to find Dorothy forcing Trish to vomit after a large meal, insisting she needed to keep her figure to keep her popularity. Jessica, enraged, threw her across the room. Of an age to do so, the girls left, and Trish with her popularity and money, was able to get them a rather nice apartment, where they lived together for several years. In fact, they lived together as sisters until the day Jessica met Killgrave, and everything changed. The man had a power over her, and she was special to him, for whatever twisted reason. It started off pretty well at first, until either on accident, or maybe it was intentional, Killgrave's power of suggestion came into play. He forced Jess down a dark path that she never would truly recover from. The physical and emotional abuse she suffered at his hands would tarnish her for years to come. The accidental murder of an otherwise innocent woman, a guilt that would eat at Jessica until the day she died. The guilt was enough that Jess was able to finally break Killgrave's hold on her. Something about that incident broke something in Jess, and it was that something that he'd used to control her. She was free of him personally, but emotionally she'd struggle against him for years to come. She never went back to live with Trish after that. She got her own crappy little apartment in Hell's Kitchen, turning the main space into an office, offering her skills as a private investigator for folks. It was mostly sleezey jobs, husbands and wives cheating and the occasional runaway. She cut herself off from everyone, until Hope's case landed in her lap. The case of Hope Shlottman brought Jones face to face with the man who really should have been dead. She had a death certificate to prove it. Killgrave had been struck by a bus, and died. Only he hadn't. He's survied in his own twisted way, leaving Jones a little more on edge than usual. Through a long series of events, many of which Jessica will deny, and not openly admit to, Jess not only located Killgrave, but in the end she killed him, breaking his neck and leaving his body on the pier, saving Trish and countless other innocents in the process. Jessica of course, was arrested, but had one hell of a lawyer to get the charges dropped, pending further investigation. Jessica now lives in a perpetual state of 'What happens now?'. She's waiting for the other shoe to drop, while she struggles with the agency with the occasional help of Malcolm. AGE: 31
OCCUPATION: Super Hero
MEMBER GROUP: Super Human
AFFILIATIONS: N/A
PLAYBY: Krysten Ritter
BIRTHPLACE: Caldwell, New Jersey
RESIDENCE: Apartment, Hell's Kitchen
PARENTS: Brian Jones (Father), Alisa Jones † (Mother),
SIBLINGS: Phillip Jones (Brother)
IMPORTANT RELATIVES: N/A
IMPORTANT PERSON: N/A
HISTORY:
The differences lie in the details. Most of Jessica's 'old con' history is very much the same. There was an accident when she was thirteen, though the only fatality was her mother, who had been in the passenger seat when the car was struck. Her brother and father survived with minor injuries, Jessica's having been the worst as she had been seated behind her mother.
Jessica was never adopted by Dorothy Walker. Trish was never more than a friend from school. The two eventually grew apart as they grew older, and Trish became more and more famous.
The outing of her powers came at the hands of her brother, rather than Trish. He'd been bullied over something trivial, and Jess had stepped in, putting one of the bullies in the hospital with a fractured collarbone from being shoved a little harder than intended. It was her brother's idea from there to behave like a hero. Do good for the city, and generally be a better person. As she grew older, Jess clung to that.
She never met Killgrave. He lives on, doing what he does. She never killed Reva, though if she met an untimely demise elsewhere it has yet to be seen. Luke Cage is a man she's never met, or even Claire Temple. Jessica Jones lives quietly in an apartment in Hell's Kitchen, working for Hogarth, Chao and Benowitz as a Process Server. She masqurades at night as the hero Jewel, keeping crime out of the city.
